AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing hair treatments do not effectively improve hair strength or reduce color alteration in dyed hair, particularly during washing and conditioning.

Method used

A two-step process involving treatment with a polyphenol composition followed by a water-soluble polymer composition, where the polyphenol can be tannic acid and the polymer is preferably polyvinylpyrrolidone, forming a gel on the hair to enhance strength and reduce color alteration.

Benefits of technology

The process improves hair strength, suppleness, and elasticity while reducing color alteration in dyed hair, providing resistance to hair care treatments.

Abstract

USE OF POLYPHENOL AND WATER-SOLUBLE POLYMER FOR THE TREATMENT OF KERATIN FIBERS. The present invention relates to a combination of (1) treating keratin fibers, preferably hair, with a first composition; and (2) treating keratin fibers, preferably hair, with a second composition, wherein the first composition comprises at least one polyphenol, and the second composition comprises at least one water-soluble polymer, in order to improve the strength or hardness of the keratin fibers. The present invention can improve, for example, the suppleness or elasticity of keratin fibers and / or reduce color fading of dyed keratin fibers. Figure for abstract: none.
