Abstract

A haircare appliance (100, fig.1) is operable in a dwell state 304 and in an active state 306. The processing circuitry is configured to control the heater to maintain a dwell temperature in the dwell state and to reach an operating temperature in the active state. The operating temperature is greater than or equal to 70 degrees Celsius, and the dwell temperature is less than 70 degrees Celsius. The dwell temperature is preferably at least 40 degrees Celsius and no more than 60 degrees Celsius. The operating temperature is preferably above 90 degrees Celsius. A user input may switch the appliance from the dwell state to the active state. The active state may have a plurality of phases and the processing circuitry is preferably configured to receive a completion signal and switch the appliance to the dwell state at an end of the plurality of phases. The haircare appliance may comprise a plurality of heaters (132, fig.1). The appliance preferably comprises a barrel (102, fig.1) which is removably coupled to the device body. Figure 3
