Abstract
The invention relates to an in-line system for the physical conditioning of agricultural irrigation water using electrical pulses, designed to mitigate the adverse effects of exchangeable sodium in agricultural soils. The system works by modifying the physical-ionic interaction of sodium at the water-soil interface, without removing sodium from the water or using chemicals. The system is applicable to continuous agricultural irrigation, improves soil structure, water infiltration, and root absorption, and can operate independently or in conjunction with other treatment systems.
