Abstract

The present invention provides a synergistic composition comprising Boswellia- derived Frankincense oil and boswellic acid as well as methods for the synthesis of the same. Said synergistic composition comprising Frankincense oil and boswellic acid is prepared by subjecting Boswellia serrata resin gum to hydro-steam distillation process at a slightly elevated pressure, and for a short period of time, without using any organic solvents for extraction. Said synergistic composition is also prepared by combining Boswellic extract comprising at least 5 % by weight of Boswellic acid with Frankincense oil, with the combined product remaining as a clear oil, and offering the benefits of both Boswellic extract containing boswellic acid, and Frankincense oil. Said synergistic composition comprising Frankincense oil and boswellic acid is administered through topical, transdermal or oral route for the treatment of skin cancer, breast cancer, arthritis, and IBS.
