Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to a latch mechanism, and more particularly to configure an electrical latch mechanism and mechanical latch mechanism on a box panel of a recreational vehicle storage box for matching use, thereby enabling to increase the efficiency of an anti-theft function of the recreational vehicle storage box. DESCRIPTION OF THE RELATED ART

[0002] Accordingly, nowadays people pay much attention to the leisure activities and drive all around to travel or visit natural landscape on holidays. In recent years, a camping culture is rising and at free time, many people will bring camping equipment to wild camping sites to find different living style. Preferably, people use recreational vehicle for more convenient wild camping life. The types of recreational vehicle include motorhome and trailer, and wherein the motorhome is further called as a movable house which means the driving area is integrated into the living accommodation, that is, the whole car is the recreational vehicle as shown in Fig. 1, and people only need to load the camping equipment to drive out for camping activities. The trailer is to separate the driving area and living accommodation to be two spaces, which means the driving area is a conventional vehicle equipped with a rear trailer hitch and the living space is a camping carriage without power. Normally, the vehicle and the camping carriage are separated and the camping carriage is hitched at the back of the vehicle when out for camping and people can drive the vehicle with hitching a camping carriage to a proper camping site, and then drive the vehicle to park outside the camping site after removing the hitch between the vehicle and the camping carriage. At the time, people can drive the vehicle to nearby or purchase the additional camping items so the using is more flexible. 2025202893   24 Apr 2025

[0003] No matter the motorhome as shown in Fig. 1 or the trailer, a plurality of storage boxes are configured under two sides of the vehicle body for carrying more items. As shown in Fig. 1, five storage boxes are configured under the vehicle body and each storage box is provided with a door and a latch mechanism for opening or closing. Referring to Figs. 2 and 3, as is well known, a door and a latch mechanism of a recreational vehicle storage box comprise a perforated groove configured on a wall body 11 of a side of the recreational vehicle corresponding to a position designed to install a storage box, the perforated groove is inward to accommodate a box body of the storage box, a box frame 12 is further locked and secured on the wall body 11 of the perforated groove, that is, to secure the box frame 12 with a periphery of the wall body 11 of the perforated groove, and then the box frame 12 is engaged with a box panel 13. A bottom edge of the box panel 13 is engaged with a bottom edge of the box frame 12 via a pair of rotating shafts and the number of the rotating shafts could be two or three depending on the size of the box panel 13 so the wall body 11, the box frame 12 and the box panel 13 are combined to form a door. Thus, with the rotating shaft as center, the top edge of the door panel 13 can be flipped downward to deflect to open the storage box, and then to flip the top edge of the door panel 13 upward to deflect and return to position to close the storage box.

[0004] To ensure that the box panel 13 will not deflect and open due to vibration, a latch mechanism M is further installed between the box panel 13 and the box frame 12 as shown in Figs. 4 and 5, a pair of assembly holes are pre-installed on a face of the box panel 13 near the top edge, and then a latch piece 14 is installed inside the assembly hole. The latch piece 14 comprises a screw rod 142 inserted into a main body 141, wherein the screw rod 142 is engaged with an operation flipping member 143 and a latch bar 144 respectively outside and inside the main body 141, the screw rod 142 is to fix the operation flipping member 143 outside the main body 141 via screw fixing a fastening bolt 142 inside the main body 141 and meanwhile, on the screw rod 141, the latch bar 144 is fixed inside the main body 141 via screw fixing a pair of limit position bolts and an engagement member 147 is secured in back of the main body 141. When assembling, the engagement member 147 can firstly disengage from the main body 141, 2025202893   24 Apr 2025 and then the latch piece 14 is placed in from the outside of the assembly hole of the box panel 13 until the periphery of the main body 141 reaches the outer edge of the assembly hole, and then the engagement member 147 is locked. The main body 141 is firmly combined with the assembly hole via the engagement member 147 tightly resting on the inner edge of the assembly hole.

[0005] Accordingly, the wall body 11, the box frame 12, the box frame 13 and the latch piece 14 are jointly combined to form the door and the latch mechanism M. The operation flipping member 143 is used to open the box panel 13 and the operation flipping member 143 is engaged with an end of the screw rod 142 outside the main body 141 so that the operation flipping member 143 can perform an action of flipping upward outside the main body 141 to further rotate with the end of the screw rod 142 as the shaft center and the screw rod 142 drives a latch bar 144 to rotate. Therefore, as shown in Fig. 6, when the operation flipping member143 is flipped upward to deflect and rotate 90 degrees to drive the latch bar 144 to rotate toward the sidewall, the latch bar 144 does not withstand the inner edge of the box frame 12, thereby pulling the operation flipping member 143 to drive the box panel 13 to deflect outward with the rotating shaft as the shaft center and open the door. At the time, the items can be taken out from the storage box or put into the box, and moreover as shown in Fig. 7, the box panel 13 is closed toward the box frame 12 and the operation flipping member 143 is returned. Meanwhile, the operation flipping member 143 is flipped to be down toward the main body 141, thereby further driving the latch bar 144 to upright withstand the inner edge of the box frame 12 to form a state of closing the storage box via the box panel 13 of the door.

[0006] The wall body 11, the box frame 12, the box panel 13 and the latch piece 14 are combined to form the door and the latch mechanism M, wherein the latch mechanism M is a mechanical mechanism required to manually operate (flip) the operation flipping member 143 in a near distance to open or close the box panel 13, preferably, a simple lock is further provided between the front side of the main body 141 to be flipped randomly. The simple lock restricts the operation flipping member 142 to be flipped from the back side of the operation flipping member 143. Before operating 2025202893   24 Apr 2025 (flipping) the operation flipping member 143, the simple lock should firstly release the restriction on the operation flipping member 143 and then perform action.

[0007] The prior art mechanical latch mechanism M of the abovementioned recreational vehicle storage box can be opened when any person is close so the demand on the anti-theft is obviously insufficient. With regarding to increase the mechanical latch mechanism of simple lock, the user will need to bring a key to open, and thus finding the key will spend much time if the user suddenly can’t find the key to cause a possible deficiency of influencing the camping mood. Moreover, the key is normally carried by a person, e.g. a male, this is a burden to the carrier, or the key should be placed in a specific location for convenient using, but if someone does not place the key in the fixed location, it will take more time to find the key and further influence the camping mood. The electrical latch mechanism E (referred as latch mechanism E in following description) as shown in Figs. 10 and 11 comprises a top cover 21 having a plurality of the snapping grooves inside the bottom surface and a pair of the short grooves 211 on the side; a circuit board 22 is snapped and fixed inside the snapping groove of the top cover 21 to rest stably, a necessary control circuit is pre-configured inside the circuit board 22, a plug connector 221 is respectively connected with the two sides, the bottom surface of the circuit board is as shown in Fig. 11, that mainly comprises a pair (the quantity is two) of the upper receiving concaves 222 (formed on the top cover 22 and further penetrating out of the circuit board 22) and two micro-motion switches 223, 224, the two upper receiving concaves 222 are spaced in a distance, the two micro-motion switches 223, 224 are respectively installed on the outside of the two upper receiving concaves, the installing positions of the two micro-motion switches are in a difference of the front and the back, as shown in Fig. 11, the micro-motion switch 223 is installed at a relative back position and the micro-motion switch 224 is installed at a relative front position, a touching switch 225 is configured on a front face of the top cover 21 of the circuit board 22, and the position of the touching switch 225 corresponds to the middle of the two upper receiving concaves 222; a blocking member 23 is provided with a rotating shaft 231, two bearing rings 232 are formed on the rotating shaft 231, the distance between the two bearings 232 is corresponding to (same as ) the distance between the two upper receiving grooves 222 so the two bearing rings 232 can be accommodated one by one into the two upper receiving grooves 222 to rest, a penetrating chamfered groove 233 is configured on one side of the shaft center of the rotating shaft 231, the two ends of the rotating shaft 231 are respectively extending toward the lateral face (laterally) to form a stopping plate 234, and the outside of each stopping plate 234 is extending outward to from a lever 235, 236; a power member 24, e.g. comprises a power motor and a speed reduction set, installed on the bottom of the circuit board 22 and adjacent to the exterior of one of the receiving concaves 222, and the power member 24 is extending to form a driving shaft having a length to be allowed to extend into the receiving concave 222; 2025202893   24 Apr 2025 and, a bottom cover25, wherein a plurality of snapping grooves are installed inside of the bottom cover 25, mainly comprises a set (the number is two) of two lower receiving concaves and a pair of stretching grooves 252.

[0019] When assembling, firstly the top cover 21 along with the circuit board 22 are flipped because the circuit board 22 has been snapped and fixed inside the snapping groove of the top cover 21, then the two bearing rings 232 of the blocking member 23 are correspondingly accommodated one by one into the two upper receiving concaves 222 of the circuit board 22 and meanwhile the driving shaft of the power member 24 is inserted into the chamfered groove 233 of the blocking member 23 to be combined, the bottom cover 25 is further jointly connected with the top cover 21 to enable the two bearing rings 232 of the blocking member 23 to be correspondingly accommodated one by one into the two lower receiving concaves 251 of the bottom cover 25, thereby presenting a state of the corresponding upper receiving concave 222 and the lower receiving concave 251 together surrounding the bearing ring 232, and then the entire latch mechanism E can be flipped back. At this time, the short groove 211 of the top cover 21 and the stretching groove 252 of the bottom cover 25 have been correspondingly arranged one by one and the two stopping plates 234 of the blocking member 23 are located at the position where the stretching groove 252 corresponds to the short groove 211 one by one, and thus the two stopping plates 234 can be controlled to deflect to stretch out or retract from the stretching groove 252 and the short groove 211. Fig. 12 depicts, in perspective, the appearance of the latch mechanism E in which it is completely assembled and also the relative position of the latch mechanism E and the latch mechanism M.

[0020] Then, when further assembling, as shown in Figs. 13 and 15, the entire latch mechanism E is locked and fixed on the bottom edge of the inner frame of the box frame 12, so that the two stopping plates 234 are just located at the two sides of the upright latch bar 144 when deflecting and extending from the stretching groove 252 and the short groove 211, and finally, the circuit line (including power and signal) is plugged into one of the plug heads 221 to complete connection for using. The two sides of the circuit board 22 are respectively connected with a plug head 22 and the primary function 2025202893   24 Apr 2025 is to connect the circuit line (including power and signal) to another (next) latch mechanism E for using via plug-in and serial connection, and each latch mechanism E is not necessary to be independently connected with a circuit line (including power and signal), thereby saving the complexity of repeatedly connecting the circuit line and winding.

[0021] The description made is to be understood herewith, that is, the entire latch mechanism E is added externally so the existence and use of the latch mechanism M is not influenced. The external add of the latch mechanism E is directly performed by the manufactures (assemblers) before leaving the factory or the user can purchase to add externally by themselves.

[0022] The state of function that the latch mechanism E matches with the latch mechanism M to latch the box panel 13 together, as shown in Fig. 13. First is to operate the mechanical latch mechanism M to actuate, as foregoing, the box panel 13 is covered toward the box frame 12 and return the operation flipping member 143, and meanwhile the operation flipping member 143 is flipped to be down toward the main body 141, the latch bar 144 is driven to upright withstand the inner edge of the box frame 12 and at this time, the initial (first) function of closing the storage box by the box panel 13 and blocking the box panel 13 to be opened by the latch bar 144 has been achieved; when the latch bar 144 is standing upright, the latch bar 144 will press the touching switch 225 of the circuit board 22 to awake the controlling lines of the circuit board 22 to wait for action, and then the user can press the on-off button on a controller 30, the controlling lines of the circuit board 22 will receive a command to let the power member 24 rotate, thereby driving a process of which the entire blocking member 23 deflects (moves) from bottom to up with the rotating shaft 231 as the shaft center, to enable the two stopping plates 234 of the blocking member 23 to deflect and extend outward from the stretching groove 252 and stop process until the lever 236 contacts and presses the micro-motion switch 224 (Fig. 14). At this time, the two stopping plates 234 of the blocking member 23 block the upright latch bar 144 so the latch bar 144 cannot deflect (even though operating the operation flipping member 143). It is obvious that adding the configuration of latch mechanism E will improve the function of blocking 2025202893   24 Apr 2025 the box panel 13 to be opened. In other words, adding the configuration of the latch mechanism E will improve the efficiency of the anti-theft function of the recreational vehicle storage box.

[0023] And then, as shown in Fig. 15, in order to open the box panel 13, the start button on the controller 30 is pressed and the controlling lines of the circuit board 22 will receive the command to let the power member 24 to rotate, thereby driving a process of the entire blocking member 23 deflecting (moving) from bottom to up with the rotating shaft 231 as the shaft center to enable the two stopping plates 234 of the blocking member 23 to deflect and return inward from the stretching groove 252 and stop the process until the lever 235 contacts and presses the micro-motion switch 223 (Fig. 16). At this time, the upright latch bar 144 has not been blocked so the operation flipping member 143 can be operated to drive the latch bar 144 and further release the withstanding function on the inner edge of the box frame 12, thereby opening the box panel 13.

[0024] The foregoing is to lock and fix the entire latch mechanism E on the bottom edge of the inner frame of the box frame 12, and therefore, the two stopping plates 234 are just located on the two sides of the upright latch bar 144 when deflecting and extending from the stretching groove 252 and the short groove 211, which is an embodiment of blocking function. Under the same structure and function, as shown in Figs. 17 and 18, the entire latch mechanism E is overturned to be locked and fixed on the top edge of the inner frame of the box frame 12 as long as the assembly between the box frame 12 and the wall body 11 of the carriage is not influenced, and therefore, as shown in Fig. 14, when operating to let the two stopping plates 234 of the blocking member 23 to deflect and extend outward from the stretching groove 252, the upright latch bar 144 can also be blocked. Further, Fig. 19 depicts the operation to let the two stopping plates 234 of the blocking member 23 to deflect and return inward from the stretching groove 241, thereby avoiding the upright latch bar 144 to be blocked, and in this way, the operation flipping member 143 is operated to drive the latch bar 144 to deflect and release the withstanding function on the inner edge of the box frame 12 to open the box panel 13. 2025202893   24 Apr 2025

[0025] It can be seen from the abovementioned description, the present invention is to configure the latch mechanism E and the latch mechanism M to jointly latch the box panel 13 and enhance the efficiency of anti-theft function of the recreational vehicle storage box. The abovementioned drawbacks have been improved so the present invention not only has novelty, but also has value for industrial utilization. Therefore, an application for invention patent is submitted. Your examination and approval will be highly appreciated.
