A latch bolt retaining mechanism for a security door

Abstract

A bolt retaining assembly is described including: a keeper member operates between an extended position and a retracted position; the keeper member defines an aperture which, when in use in its extended position, receives and retains the bolt of a deadlock of a door to maintain the door in its closed condition; a rotatable strike tongue which presents a striking face to the extended deadbolt of a closing door in use; when the bolt strikes the striking face of the rotatable strike tongue the strike tongue rotate and acts upon the keeper member to move it to its retracted position to allow the bolt to pass by the keeper member; after the bolt has passed the keeper member it returns to its extended position to receive the bolt in its aperture.
