Abstract

The invention relates to a measuring tape (10) for determining the position of a car (42) in an elevator shaft (41), which measuring tape (10) can be arranged vertically in the elevator shaft and preferably extends through at least two building stories (43a, 43b, 43c, 43d), which measuring tape (10) has a tape-like base body (11) of a ferromagnetic material and a position code (12) introduced therein and readable by means of a magnetic field sensor (12), wherein the position code is formed by interruptions (1, 2) in the measuring tape base body (11) which are arranged preferably alternately on both sides of a longitudinal axis (M) of the measuring tape (11) and extend essentially in the longitudinal direction (L) of the measuring tape, wherein a respective interruption (1, 2) has an inner contour (4a) which is concavely curved or bent between two end sections (1a, 1b, 2a, 2b) of the interruption (1, 2) which face the longitudinal axis (M).
