Technical Field
[0003] Aspects of the present disclosure relate generally to wireless communication systems, and more particularly, to techniques for indicating a transmit configuration indicator (TCI) state of a component carrier (CC) operating in different modes. Background Art
[0004] Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide various types of communication content such as voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcast, etc. These systems may be multiple-access systems capable of supporting communication with multiple users by sharing the available system resources (e.g., time, frequency, and power). Examples of such multiple-access systems include code division multiple access (CDMA) systems, time division multiple access (TDMA) systems, frequency division multiple access (FDMA) systems, orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) systems, and single-carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) systems.
[0005] These multiple access technologies have been adopted in various telecommunication standards to provide a common protocol that enables different wireless devices to communicate at city, national, regional, and even global levels. For example, the fifth generation (5G) wireless communication technology, which may be referred to as 5G New Radio (5GNR), is designed to expand and support diverse usage scenarios and applications for current mobile network generations. On the one hand, 5G communication technology may include: enhanced mobile broadband addressing people-centric use cases for accessing multimedia content, services, and data; ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC) with certain specifications for latency and reliability; and massive machine-type communications that may allow very large numbers of connected devices and the transmission of relatively small amounts of non-delay-sensitive information. [0033] Various aspects are now described with reference to the accompanying drawings. In the following description, for the purpose of explanation, in order to provide a thorough understanding of one or more aspects, numerous specific details are described. However, it is apparent that such aspects can be practiced without these specific details.
[0034] The described features generally relate to configuring, activating or indicating a transmit configuration indicator (TCI) state for multiple configured component carriers (CCs), wherein the CCs may operate in different modes in which different numbers of TCI pools may be used. In some wireless communication technologies, such as fifth generation (5G) new radio (NR), TCI states may be configured for a CC, which may include a network node sending a radio resource control (RRC) configuration of a TCI pool including an indication of multiple TCI states to a user equipment (UE). For example, the TCI state may correspond to a quasi-co-location (QCL) parameter or a beam for communicating on a CC. The network node may also activate a subset of the multiple TCI states using a medium access control (MAC) control element (CE), which may indicate an index of the RRC-configured TCI state to be activated. The network node may also indicate in a downlink control information (DCI) an activated TCI state to be used for a given resource grant associated with the CC.
[0035] In 5G NR, for example, when a bandwidth part (BWP) or CC is not configured with a TCI pool, the UE and / or network node may use the TCI pool configuration of the reference BWP or CC for the unconfigured BWP or CC. In addition, in 5G NR, the MAC-CE activation of a subset of TCI states in the configured TCI pool of a first CC may be applied to all CCs on the same configured list as the first CC (and similarly, the DCI indication for the unified TCI state may be applied to all CCs on the same configured list as the first CC). In addition, in 5G NR, the unified TCI state framework may be extended to multiple transmit / receive point (mTRP) cases. In one example, different modes for CCs may be associated with different RRC configurations, MAC-CE formats, etc. For example, a mode may involve using a certain number of TCI pools, TRPs, DCI indications, timing advance groups, etc. In this regard, for example, different modes may involve using different numbers of TCI pools, different numbers of TRPs, single DCI indication or multiple DCI indications, single timing advance group (sTAG) or multiple timing advance groups (mTAG), etc.
[0036] For example, the different modes that a CC may use may include intra-cell single TRP (sTRP), inter-cell sTRP, intra-cell single DCI (sDCI), intra-cell multi-DCI (mDCI) sTAG, intra-cell mDCI mTAG, inter-cell mDCI sTAG, inter-cell mDCI mTAG, etc. For example, inter-cell may refer to an RRC parameter or value AdditionalPCIlist configured in a servingCellConfig RRC information element (IE). In one example, for a TCI for inter-cell beam management (BM), the TCI may be defined on a quasi-co-location (QCL) chain including a non-serving cell synchronization signal block (SSB). For example, when two TCI pools per TCI type are configured in a CC, each pool may correspond to a TRP or a control resource set (CORESET) pool. When a MAC-CE is used to activate a TCI, the MAC-CE may indicate which TCI pool the TCI comes from. For example, when a TCI pool is associated with a CORESET pool, the MAC-CE may indicate an identifier of the CORESET pool, or an additional bit per TCI may be used to indicate a TCI pool identifier in addition to the TCI type (e.g., uplink, downlink, or joint uplink and downlink). In any case, there may be some issues with cross-CC TCI configuration, activation, or indication when CCs operate in different modes, as identified herein. In such cases, certain rules or functions may be used to handle these issues to determine how to configure, activate, or indicate the TCI state of a CC given the different modes used by the CCs.
[0037] For example, for CCs using different modes, a single TCI pool per TCI type (e.g., uplink, downlink, or joint downlink and uplink) for multiple TRPs may be configured for all modes. In another example, at least for some modes (e.g., mDCI), two pools may be configured for each TCI type for two TRPs, respectively. Problems may arise when the reference CC and the applied CC use different modes so that one CC uses a first number of TCI pools and the other CC uses a different number of TCI pools. In another example, it is possible to use a reference BWP or CC TCI pool to configure a TCI pool for another BWP or CC, and if so, problems may arise when the reference BWP or CC and the BWP or CC to be configured use different modes. In another example, it is possible that TCI activation and / or indication cross-CC (e.g., across multiple CCs in a CC list), and if so, problems may arise when the CCs in the list use different modes.
[0038] Examples of such problems may include a RRC configuration mismatch between a reference BWP or CC and a target BWP or CC. For example, a first BWP (BWP1) may be a reference BWP under sTRP operation with a single TCI pool, and a second BWP (BWP2) may not have its own TCI configuration and may follow the TCI configuration of BWP1 under 5G NR. The second BWP (BWP2) may be configured in mTRP mode, which may require 2 TCI pools in RRC, which may be a problem when the reference BWP includes only a single TCI pool. In another example, there may be a MAC-CE format mismatch between the target CC of the MAC-CE and the CC to which the same update is applied. For example, a first CC (CC1) and a second CC (CC2) may be on the same CC list (e.g., such that CC1 and CC2 share the same MAC-CE activation). CC1 may be in mDCI mTRP mode, and CC2 may be in sDCI mTRP mode. In this example, the TCI activation MAC-CE for CC1 may not directly act on CC2.
[0039] The various aspects described herein relate to defining or using rules in one or more of the above examples to resolve possible issues between TCI pool configuration, activation or indication across CCs. This can facilitate compliance with wireless communication technical specifications (such as 5G NR) while achieving efficiencies associated with joint (or cross) CC configuration, activation and / or indication, such as reducing radio resource consumption for indicating TCI pools, subsets thereof, or TCI states, reducing processing complexity for indicating or determining configured TCI pools, activated subsets, or indicated TCI states for multiple CCs, etc.
[0040] The following will refer to Figures 1 to 11 The described features are presented in more detail.
[0041] As used in this application, the terms "component", "module", "system", etc. are intended to include computer-related entities, such as but not limited to hardware, firmware, a combination of hardware and software, software, or software in execution. The base station 102 / UE 104 may use a spectrum of up to Y MHz (e.g., 5 MHz, 10 MHz, 15 MHz, 20 MHz, 100 MHz, 400 MHz, etc.) bandwidth per carrier allocated in a carrier aggregation of up to Yx MHz (e.g., corresponding to x component carriers) for transmission in the DL and / or UL directions. The carriers may be adjacent to each other, or may not be adjacent to each other. The allocation of carriers may be asymmetric for DL and UL (e.g., more or fewer carriers may be allocated for DL than for UL). The component carrier may include a primary component carrier and one or more secondary component carriers. The primary component carrier may be referred to as a primary cell (PCell) and the secondary component carrier may be referred to as a secondary cell (SCell).
[0048] In another example, some UEs 104 may communicate with each other using a device-to-device (D2D) communication link 158. The D2D communication link 158 may use DL / UL WWAN spectrum. The D2D communication link 158 may use one or more sidelink channels, such as a physical sidelink broadcast channel (PSBCH), a physical sidelink discovery channel (PSDCH), a physical sidelink shared channel (PSSCH), and a physical sidelink control channel (PSCCH). The D2D communication may be through various wireless D2D communication systems, such as, for example, FlashLinQ, WiMedia, Bluetooth, ZigBee, Wi-Fi based on IEEE 802.11 standards, LTE, or NR.
[0049] The wireless communication system may also include a Wi-Fi access point (AP) 150 that communicates with a Wi-Fi station (STA) 152 via a communication link 154 in the 5 GHz unlicensed spectrum. When communicating in the unlicensed spectrum, the STA 152 / AP 150 may perform a clear channel assessment (CCA) to determine whether the channel is available prior to communication.
[0050] The small cell 102' may operate in licensed and / or unlicensed spectrum. When operating in the unlicensed spectrum, the small cell 102' may employ NR and use the same 5 GHz unlicensed spectrum as the 5 GHz unlicensed spectrum used by the Wi-Fi AP 150. The small cell 102' employing NR in the unlicensed spectrum may improve the coverage of the access network and / or increase the capacity of the access network.
[0051] The base station 102 (whether a small cell 102' or a large cell (e.g., a macro base station)) may include an eNB, a gNodeB (gNB), or other types of base stations. Some base stations (such as gNB 180) may operate in traditional sub-6 GHz spectrum, millimeter wave (mmW) frequencies, and / or near mmW frequencies to communicate with UE 104. When the gNB 180 operates at mmW or near mmW frequencies, the gNB 180 may be referred to as a mmW base station. Extremely high frequency (EHF) is part of the RF in the electromagnetic spectrum. EHF has a range of 30 GHz to 300 GHz with a wavelength between 1 mm and 10 mm. The radio waves in this band may be referred to as millimeter waves. Near mmW can extend down to frequencies of 3 GHz with a wavelength of 100 mm. The super high frequency (SHF) band extends between 3 GHz and 30 GHz, which is also referred to as centimeter waves. Communications using the mmW / near mmW radio frequency bands have extremely high path losses and short distances. The mmW base station 180 can utilize beamforming 182 with the UE 104 to compensate for the extremely high path loss and short range. The base station 102 mentioned in this article may include gNB180.
[0052] The EPC 160 may include a mobility management entity (MME) 162, other MMEs 164, a serving gateway 166, a multimedia broadcast multicast service (MBMS) gateway 168, a broadcast multicast service center (BM-SC) 170, and a packet data network (PDN) gateway 172. The MME 162 may communicate with a home subscriber server (HSS) 174. The MME 162 is a control node that handles signaling between the UE 104 and the EPC 160. Typically, the MME 162 provides bearer and connection management. All user Internet Protocol (IP) packets are passed through the serving gateway 166, which itself is connected to the PDN gateway 172. The PDN gateway 172 provides UE IP address allocation and other functions. The PDN gateway 172 and the BM-SC 170 are connected to IP services 176. The IP services 176 may include the Internet, an intranet, an IP multimedia subsystem (IMS), a PS streaming service, and / or other IP services. The BM-SC 170 may provide functionality for MBMS user service configuration and delivery. The BM-SC 170 may serve as an entry point for content provider MBMS delivery, may be used to authorize and initiate MBMS bearer services in a public land mobile network (PLMN), and may be used to schedule MBMS delivery. The MBMS gateway 168 may be used to distribute MBMS services to base stations 102 belonging to a multicast broadcast single frequency network (MBSFN) area of a broadcast specific service, and may be responsible for session management (start / stop) and for collecting eMBMS related billing information.
[0053] 5GC 190 may include an access and mobility management function (AMF) 192, other AMFs 193, a session management function (SMF) 194, and a user plane function (UPF) 195. AMF 192 may communicate with unified data management (UDM) 196. AMF 192 may be a control node that handles signaling between UE 104 and 5GC 190. Generally speaking, AMF 192 may provide QoS flow and session management. User Internet Protocol (IP) packets (e.g., from one or more UEs 104) may be delivered through UPF 195. UPF 195 may provide UE IP address allocation and other functions for one or more UEs. UPF 195 is connected to IP services 197. IP services 197 may include the Internet, an intranet, an IP multimedia subsystem (IMS), a PS streaming service, and / or other IP services.
[0054] Base stations may also be referred to as gNBs, Node Bs, evolved Node Bs (eNBs), access points, transceiver base stations, radio base stations, radio transceivers, transceiver functions, basic service sets (BSSs), extended service sets (ESSs), transmit receive points (TRPs), or some other suitable terminology. Base station 102 provides an access point to EPC 160 or 5GC 190 for UE 104. Examples of UE 104 include cellular phones, smart phones, Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) phones, laptops, personal digital assistants (PDAs), satellite radios, global positioning systems, multimedia devices, video devices, digital audio players (e.g., MP3 players), cameras, game consoles, tablets, smart devices, wearable devices, vehicles, electric meters, gas pumps, large or small kitchen appliances, healthcare devices, implants, sensors / actuators, displays, or any other similarly functional devices. Some of UE 104 may be referred to as IoT devices (e.g., parking meters, gas pumps, toasters, vehicles, heart monitors, etc.). IoT UEs may include machine type communication (MTC) / enhanced MTC (eMTC, also referred to as Category (CAT)-M or Cat M1) UEs, NB-IoT (also referred to as CAT NB1) UEs, and other types of UEs. In the present disclosure, eMTC and NB-IoT may refer to future technologies that may evolve from or may be based on these technologies. For example, eMTC may include FeMTC (further eMTC), eFeMTC (enhanced further eMTC), mMTC (massive MTC), etc., and NB-IoT may include eNB-IoT (enhanced NB-IoT), FeNB-IoT (further enhanced NB-IoT), etc. UE 104 may also be referred to as a station, a mobile station, a subscriber station, a mobile unit, a subscriber unit, a wireless unit, a remote unit, a mobile device, a wireless device, a wireless communication device, a remote device, a mobile subscriber station, an access terminal, a mobile terminal, a wireless terminal, a remote terminal, a handset, a user agent, a mobile client, a client, or some other suitable terminology.
[0055] The deployment of a communication system (such as a 5G New Radio (NR) system) can be arranged with various components or components in a variety of ways. In a 5G NR system or network, a network node, a network entity, a mobility element of a network, a radio access network (RAN) node, a core network node, a network element or a network equipment (such as a base station (BS, e.g., BS102), or one or more units (or one or more components) that perform base station functionality can be implemented in an aggregated architecture or a decomposed architecture. For example, a BS (such as a Node B (NB), an evolved NB (eNB), an NR BS, a 5G NB, an access point (AP), a transmit receive point (TRP) or a cell, etc.) can be implemented as an aggregated base station (also referred to as an independent BS or a monolithic BS) or a decomposed base station.
[0056] The aggregated base station can be configured to utilize a radio protocol stack physically or logically integrated within a single RAN node. The decomposed base station can be configured to utilize a protocol stack physically or logically distributed between two or more units, such as one or more central or centralized units (CUs), one or more distributed units (DUs), or one or more radio units (RUs). In some aspects, the CU can be implemented within a RAN node, and one or more DUs can be co-located with the CU, or alternatively, can be geographically or virtually distributed in one or more other RAN nodes. The DU can be implemented to communicate with one or more RUs. Each of the CU, DU, and RU can also be implemented as a virtual unit, namely a virtual central unit (VCU), a virtual distributed unit (VDU), or a virtual radio unit (VRU).
[0057] Base station type operations or network designs may take into account the aggregated nature of base station functionality. For example, a disaggregated base station may be utilized in an integrated access backhaul (IAB) network, an open radio access network (O-RAN (network configurations such as those initiated by the O-RAN Alliance)), or a virtualized radio access network (vRAN, also known as a cloud radio access network (C-RAN)). Decomposition may include distributing functionality across two or more units at various physical locations, as well as virtually distributing functionality of at least one unit, which may enable flexibility in network design. Individual units of a disaggregated base station or disaggregated RAN architecture may be configured for wired or wireless communication with at least one other unit.
[0058] In one example, for one or more CCs in the plurality of CCs, the BS communication component 442 may send and / or the UE communication component 342 may receive one or more of the following: an RRC configuration of a TCI pool, a MAC-CE activation to activate a TCI state subset in the TCI pool, or a DCI indication of a TCI state in one of one or more TCI state subsets in the TCI state subset. The BS communication component 442 may configure, activate, or indicate a TCI state based on one or more rules described herein, based on a mode used by the CC. In addition, the UE communication component 342 may apply an RRC configuration for one or more CCs based on the mode used by the CC, activate a TCI state subset for one or more CCs, or use an indicated TCI state for one or more CCs.
[0059] Figure 2 A diagram illustrating an example of a disaggregated base station 200 architecture is shown. The disaggregated base station 200 architecture may include one or more central units (CUs) 210 that may communicate directly with a core network 220 via a backhaul link, or indirectly with the core network 220 through one or more disaggregated base station units, such as a near real-time (near-RT) RAN intelligent controller (RIC) 225 via an E2 link, or a non-real-time (non-RT) RIC 215 associated with a service management and orchestration (SMO) framework 205, or both. The CU 210 may communicate with one or more distributed units (DUs) 230 via respective midhaul links, such as an F1 interface. The DU 230 may communicate with one or more radio units (RUs) 240 via respective fronthaul links. The RU 240 may communicate with respective UEs 104 via one or more radio frequency (RF) access links. In some implementations, a UE 104 may be served simultaneously by multiple RUs 240.
[0060] Each of these units (e.g., CU 210, DU 230, RU 240, and near-RT RIC 225, non-RT RIC 215, and SMO framework 205) may include or be coupled to one or more interfaces configured to receive or send signals, data, or information (collectively referred to as signals) via a wired or wireless transmission medium. Each of the units or an associated processor or controller that provides instructions to the communication interface of these units may be configured to communicate with one or more of the other units via a transmission medium. For example, these units may include a wired interface configured to receive or send signals to one or more of the other units via a wired transmission medium. Additionally, these units may include a wireless interface that may include a receiver, a transmitter, or a transceiver (such as a radio frequency (RF) transceiver) that is configured to receive or send signals, or both, to one or more of the other units on a wireless transmission medium.
[0061] In some aspects, CU 210 may host one or more higher layer control functions. Such control functions may include radio resource control (RRC), packet data convergence protocol (PDCP), service data adaptation protocol (SDAP), etc. Each control function may be implemented using an interface configured to communicate signals with other control functions hosted by CU 210. CU 210 may be configured to handle user plane functionality (i.e., central unit-user plane (CU-UP)), control plane functionality (i.e., central unit-control plane (CU-CP)), or a combination thereof. In some specific implementations, CU 210 may be logically split into one or more CU-UP units and one or more CU-CP units. When implemented in an O-RAN configuration, the CU-UP unit may communicate bidirectionally with the CU-CP unit via an interface (such as an E1 interface). As needed, CU 210 may be implemented to communicate with DU 230 for network control and signaling.
[0062] DU 230 may correspond to a logical unit that includes one or more base station functions for controlling the operation of one or more RUs 240. In some aspects, DU 230 may host one or more of a radio link control (RLC) layer, a medium access control (MAC) layer, and one or more high physical (PHY) layers (such as modules for forward error correction (FEC) encoding and decoding, scrambling, modulation and demodulation, etc.) depending at least in part on functional splits such as those defined by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). In some aspects, DU 230 may further host one or more low PHY layers. Each layer (or module) may be implemented using an interface that is configured to communicate signals with other layers (and modules) hosted by DU 230 or with control functions hosted by CU 210.
[0063] The lower layer functionality may be implemented by one or more RUs 240. In some deployments, a RU 240 controlled by a DU 230 may correspond to a logical node that hosts RF processing functions or low PHY layer functions (such as performing Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), Inverse FFT (iFFT), digital beamforming, physical random access channel (PRACH) extraction and filtering, etc.), or both, based at least in part on a functional split (such as a lower layer functional split). In such an architecture, the RU 240 may be implemented to handle over-the-air (OTA) communications with one or more UEs 104. In some implementations, real-time and non-real-time aspects of control plane and user plane communications with the RU 240 may be controlled by the corresponding DU 230. In some scenarios, this configuration may enable the implementation of the DU 230 and the CU 210 in a cloud-based RAN architecture (such as a vRAN architecture).
[0064] The SMO framework 205 may be configured to support RAN deployment and provisioning of non-virtualized network elements and virtualized network elements. For non-virtualized network elements, the SMO framework 205 may be configured to support the deployment of dedicated physical resources for RAN coverage requirements, which may be managed via an operation and maintenance interface (such as an O1 interface). For virtualized network elements, the SMO framework 205 may be configured to interact with a cloud computing platform (such as an open cloud (O-Cloud) 290) to perform network element lifecycle management (such as to instantiate virtualized network elements) via a cloud computing platform interface (such as an O2 interface). Such virtualized network elements may include, but are not limited to, CU 210, DU 230, RU 240, and near-RT RIC 225. In some specific implementations, the SMO framework 205 may communicate with hardware aspects of the 4G RAN (such as an open eNB (O-eNB) 211) via the O1 interface. Additionally, in some specific implementations, the SMO framework 205 may communicate directly with one or more RUs 240 via the O1 interface. The SMO framework 205 may also include a non-RT RIC 215 configured to support the functionality of the SMO framework 205 .
[0065] The non-RT RIC 215 may be configured to include logic functions that enable non-real-time control and optimization of RAN elements and resources, artificial intelligence / machine learning (AI / ML) workflows including model training and updating, or policy-based guidance of applications / features in the near-RT RIC 225. The non-RT RIC 215 may be coupled to or in communication with the near-RT RIC 225 (such as via an A1 interface). The near-RT RIC 225 may be configured to include logic functions that enable near-real-time control and optimization of RAN elements and resources via data collection and actions through an interface (such as via an E2 interface) that connects one or more CUs 210, one or more DUs 230, or both, and the O-eNB with the near-RT RIC 225.
[0066] In some implementations, in order to generate an AI / ML model to be deployed in the near-RT RIC 225, the non-RT RIC 215 may receive parameters or external enrichment information from an external server. Such information may be utilized by the near-RT RIC 225 and may be received from a non-network data source or from a network function at the SMO framework 205 or the non-RT RIC 215. In some examples, the non-RT RIC 215 or the near-RT RIC 225 may be configured to tune RAN behavior or performance. For example, the non-RT RIC 215 may monitor long-term trends and patterns of performance and employ AI / ML models to perform corrective actions through the SMO framework 205 (such as via reconfiguration of O1) or via the creation of RAN management policies (such as A1 policies).
[0067] In one example, as described herein, the BS communication component 442 can be implemented at least in part within one or more DUs 230 to configure, activate, or indicate a TCI state for a UE 104. In another example, as described herein, the BS communication component 442 can be implemented at least in part within one or more RUs 240 to configure, activate, or indicate a TCI state for a UE 104.
[0068] Now turn to Figures 3 to 11 , various aspects are described with reference to one or more components and one or more methods that can perform the actions or operations described herein, where aspects in dashed lines may be optional. Figures 5 to 10 The operations described in the present invention are presented in a particular order and / or as being performed by example components, but it should be understood that the order of these actions and the components performing these actions may vary depending on the specific implementation. In addition, it should be understood that the following actions, functions, and / or components described may be performed by a specially programmed processor, a processor executing specially programmed software or computer-readable media, or any other combination of hardware components and / or software components capable of performing the described actions or functions.
[0069] refer to Figure 3 , an example of a specific implementation of the UE 104 may include various components, some of which have been described above and will be further described herein, including components such as one or more processors 312 and memory 316 and a transceiver 302 that communicate via one or more buses 344, which can operate in conjunction with a modem 340 and / or a UE communication component 342 to configure, activate, or use one or more TCI pools for each CC in a plurality of CCs in accordance with various aspects described herein.
[0070] In one aspect, the one or more processors 312 may include the modem 340 and / or may be part of the modem 340 using one or more modem processors. Thus, various functions associated with the UE communication component 342 may be included in the modem 340 and / or the processor 312, and in one aspect, may be performed by a single processor, while in other aspects, different ones of these functions may be performed by a combination of two or more different processors. For example, in one aspect, the one or more processors 312 may include a modem processor, or a baseband processor, or a digital signal processor, or a transmit processor, or a receiver processor, or any one or any combination of transceiver processors associated with the transceiver 302. In other aspects, some of the features of the one or more processors 312 and / or the modem 340 associated with the UE communication component 342 may be performed by the transceiver 302.
[0071] In addition, the memory 316 may be configured to store local versions of the data and / or applications 375 used herein, or one or more of the UE communication components 342 and / or its subcomponents executed by the at least one processor 312. The memory 316 may include any type of computer-readable medium that can be used by a computer or at least one processor 312, such as random access memory (RAM), read-only memory (ROM), tape, disk, optical disk, volatile memory, non-volatile memory, and any combination thereof. In one aspect, for example, when the UE 104 is operating at least one processor 312 to execute one or more of the UE communication components 342 and / or its subcomponents, the memory 316 may be a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium that stores one or more computer-executable codes and / or data associated therewith that define the UE communication components 342 and / or its subcomponents.
[0072] The transceiver 302 may include at least one receiver 306 and at least one transmitter 308. The receiver 306 may include hardware, firmware, and / or software code executable by a processor for receiving data, the code including instructions and stored in a memory (e.g., a computer-readable medium). The receiver 306 may be, for example, a radio frequency (RF) receiver. In one aspect, the receiver 306 may receive signals transmitted by at least one base station 102. Additionally, the receiver 306 may process such received signals and may also obtain measurements of these signals, such as but not limited to Ec / Io, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), reference signal received power (RSRP), received signal strength indicator (RSSI), etc. The transmitter 308 may include hardware, firmware, and / or software code executable by a processor for transmitting data, the code including instructions and stored in a memory (e.g., a computer-readable medium). Suitable examples of the transmitter 308 may include, but are not limited to, an RF transmitter.
[0073] In addition, in an aspect, the UE 104 may include an RF front end 388 that may operate in communication with the one or more antennas 365 and the transceiver 302 to receive and transmit radio transmissions, such as wireless communications transmitted by at least one base station 102 or wireless transmissions transmitted by the UE 104. The RF front end 388 may be connected to the one or more antennas 365 and may include one or more low noise amplifiers (LNAs) 390, one or more switches 392, one or more power amplifiers (PAs) 398, and one or more filters 396 for transmitting and receiving RF signals.
[0074] In one aspect, the LNA 390 can amplify the received signal at a desired output level. In one aspect, each LNA 390 can have a specified minimum gain value and a maximum gain value. In one aspect, the RF front end 388 can use one or more switches 392 to select a particular LNA 390 and its specified gain value based on the desired gain value for a particular application.
[0075] In addition, for example, the RF front end 388 can use one or more PAs 398 to amplify the signal for RF output at a desired output power level. In one aspect, each PA 398 can have a specified minimum gain value and a maximum gain value. In one aspect, the RF front end 388 can use one or more switches 392 to select a particular PA 398 and its specified gain value based on a desired gain value for a particular application.
[0076] In addition, for example, the RF front end 388 can use one or more filters 396 to filter the received signal to obtain an input RF signal. Similarly, in one aspect, for example, the output from the corresponding PA 398 can be filtered using a corresponding filter 396 to produce an output signal for transmission. In one aspect, each filter 396 can be connected to a specific LNA 390 and / or PA 398. In one aspect, the RF front end 388 can use one or more switches 392 to select a transmit path or a receive path using a specified filter 396, LNA 390, and / or PA 398 based on a configuration as specified by the transceiver 302 and / or the processor 312.
[0077] Thus, the transceiver 302 can be configured to transmit and receive wireless signals through one or more antennas 365 via the RF front end 388. In one aspect, the transceiver can be tuned to operate at a specified frequency so that the UE 104 can communicate with, for example, one or more base stations 102 or one or more cells associated with one or more base stations 102. In one aspect, for example, the modem 340 can configure the transceiver 302 to operate at a specified frequency and power level based on a UE configuration of the UE 104 and a communication protocol used by the modem 340.
[0078] In one aspect, the modem 340 may be a multi-band multi-mode modem that processes digital data and communicates with the transceiver 302 so that the digital data is transmitted and received using the transceiver 302. In one aspect, the modem 340 may be multi-band and configured to support multiple frequency bands for a specific communication protocol. In one aspect, the modem 340 may be multi-mode and configured to support multiple operating networks and communication protocols. In one aspect, the modem 340 may control one or more components (e.g., RF front end 388, transceiver 302) of the UE 104 to enable the sending and / or receiving of signals from the network based on a specified modem configuration. In one aspect, the modem configuration may be based on the mode of the modem and the frequency band used. In another aspect, the modem configuration may be based on UE configuration information associated with the UE 104 as provided by the network during cell selection and / or cell reselection.
[0079] In one aspect, according to the aspects described herein, the UE communication component 342 may optionally include: a configuration application component 352 for applying configurations such as CC configuration, TCI pool configuration, etc. at the UE 104; a TCI state activation component 354 for activating a TCI state subset in a TCI pool; and / or a TCI state component 356 for using a TCI state in a TCI state subset of one or more TCI pools.
[0080] In one aspect, processor 312 may correspond to combining Fig.11 Similarly, the memory 316 may correspond to one or more processors in conjunction with the UE described in the embodiment of the present invention. Fig.11 The memory described by the UE in.
[0081] refer to Figure 4 In accordance with the various aspects described herein, an example of a specific implementation of a base station 102 (e.g., base station 102 and / or gNB 180 as described above) may include various components, some of which have been described above, but include components such as one or more processors 412 and memory 416 that communicate via one or more buses 444 and a transceiver 402, which may operate in conjunction with a modem 440 and a BS communication component 442 to configure, activate, or indicate one or more TCI pools for use by a UE for each of a plurality of CCs.
[0082] The transceiver 402, receiver 406, transmitter 408, one or more processors 412, memory 416, applications 475, bus 444, RF front end 488, LNA 490, switch 492, filter 496, PA 498 and one or more antennas 465 may be the same as or similar to the corresponding components of UE 104 described above, but are configured or otherwise programmed for base station operation rather than UE operation.

[0084] In one aspect, processor 412 may correspond to combining Fig.11 Similarly, the memory 416 may correspond to one or more processors in conjunction with the base station described in the embodiment of the present invention. Fig.11 The memory described in the base station.
[0085] Figure 5 A flow chart illustrating an example of a method 500 for receiving a configuration for a plurality of CCs, wherein at least two CCs have different numbers of TCI pools, in accordance with various aspects described herein. Figure 6 A flow chart illustrating an example of a method 600 for sending a configuration for multiple CCs, wherein at least two CCs have different numbers of TCI pools, in accordance with various aspects described herein. Figure 1 and Figure 3 One or more of the components described in the method 500 may be used to perform the functions described in the method 500. In one example, a network node such as a base station 102, a gNB, a monolithic base station or a gNB, a decomposed base station or a portion of a gNB, etc. may use Figure 1 and Figure 4 One or more of the components described in the method 600 may be used to perform the functions described in the method 600. For ease of explanation, the methods 500 and 600 are described in conjunction with each other; however, the methods 500 and 600 need not be performed together and may in fact be performed independently using separate devices.
[0086] In method 600, at block 602, a reference CC configuration based on a reference CC of a first set of TRPs including one or more of a first TRP or a second TRP may be sent. In one aspect, configuration component 452 (e.g., in conjunction with processor 412, memory 416, transceiver 402, BS communication component 442, etc.) may send (e.g., to UE 104) a reference CC configuration based on a reference CC of a first set of TRPs including one or more of a first TRP or a second TRP. For example, the reference CC configuration may configure a reference CC for UE 104, wherein the reference CC may be configured on the first TRP and / or the second TRP, such that UE 104 may send uplink communications to the first TRP and / or the second TRP and / or receive downlink communications from the first TRP and / or the second TRP on the reference CC. For example, the reference CC configuration may be sent using RRC signaling.
[0087] In method 500, at box 502, a reference CC configuration based on a reference CC of a first set of TRPs including one or more of a first TRP or a second TRP may be received. In one aspect, a configuration application component 352 (e.g., in conjunction with processor 312, memory 316, transceiver 302, UE communication component 342, etc.) may receive (e.g., from base station 102) a reference CC configuration based on a reference CC of a first set of TRPs including one or more of a first TRP or a second TRP. For example, the reference CC configuration may be configured for a reference CC of UE 104, wherein the reference CC may be configured on a first TRP and / or a second TRP so that UE 104 may send uplink communications to the first TRP and / or the second TRP and / or receive downlink communications from the first TRP and / or the second TRP on the reference CC. For example, the reference CC configuration may be received via RRC signaling.
[0088] In method 600, at block 604, a second CC configuration of a second CC based on a second set of TRPs including one or more of the first TRP or the second TRP may be sent. In one aspect, configuration component 452 (e.g., in conjunction with processor 412, memory 416, transceiver 402, BS communication component 442, etc.) may send (e.g., to UE 104) a second CC configuration of a second CC based on a first set of TRPs including one or more of the first TRP or the second TRP. For example, the second CC configuration may configure a second CC for UE 104 in addition to a reference CC, wherein the second CC may be configured on the first TRP and / or the second TRP such that UE 104 may send uplink communications to the first TRP and / or the second TRP and / or receive downlink communications from the first TRP and / or the second TRP on the second CC. For example, the second CC configuration may be sent using RRC signaling.
[0089] In method 500, at box 504, a second CC configuration for a second CC based on a first set of TRPs including one or more of a first TRP or a second TRP may be received. In one aspect, a configuration application component 352 (e.g., in conjunction with processor 312, memory 316, transceiver 302, UE communication component 342, etc.) may receive (e.g., from base station 102) a second CC configuration for a second CC based on a first set of TRPs including one or more of a first TRP or a second TRP. For example, the second CC configuration may configure a second CC for UE 104 in addition to a reference CC, wherein the second CC may be configured on the first TRP and / or the second TRP so that UE 104 may send uplink communications to the first TRP and / or the second TRP and / or receive downlink communications from the first TRP and / or the second TRP on the second CC. For example, the second CC configuration may be received via RRC signaling.
[0090] For example, the reference CC and the second CC may be configured on different frequency bands or subbands. As described above, the reference CC and the second CC may be configured in different modes, which may involve different TCI pool configurations. For example, the reference CC and the second CC may each be configured with a mode that may include intra-cell sTRP, inter-cell sTRP, intra-cell sDCI, intra-cell mDCI sTAG, intra-cell mDCI mTAG, inter-cell mDCI sTAG, inter-cell mDCI mTAG, etc. In this regard, for example, one CC may be an mTRP while the other CC is an sTRP, or one CC may use sDCI while the other CC uses mDCI, or one CC may use sTAG while the other CC uses mTAG, etc. This may present some potential problems for the RRC configuration of the TCI pool, as described herein.
[0091] In method 600, at box 606, a TCI pool configuration for using a reference CC in a first mode may be sent, wherein the TCI pool configuration includes one or more TCI pools for at least one of a first TRP or a second TRP. In one aspect, configuration component 452 (e.g., in conjunction with processor 412, memory 416, transceiver 402, BS communication component 442, etc.) may send (e.g., to UE 104) a TCI pool configuration for using a reference CC in a first mode, wherein the TCI pool configuration includes one or more TCI pools for at least one of a first TRP or a second TRP. For example, in the case where the reference CC uses a first mode including multiple TRPs, mDCIs, mTAGs, etc., the TCI pool configuration may include multiple TCI pools (e.g., a TCI pool for each TRP, a TCI pool for each DCI, a TCI pool for each TAG, etc.). For example, the TCI pool configuration may be sent using RRC signaling.
[0092] In the method 500, at block 506, a TCI pool configuration for using a reference CC in a first mode may be received, wherein the TCI pool configuration includes one or more TCI pools for at least one of a first TRP or a second TRP. In one aspect, the configuration application component 352 (e.g., in conjunction with the processor 312, the memory 316, the transceiver 302, the UE communication component 342, etc.) may receive (e.g., from the base station 102) a TCI pool configuration for using a reference CC in a first mode, wherein the TCI pool configuration includes one or more TCI pools for at least one of the first TRP or the second TRP. For example, the TCI pool configuration may be received via RRC signaling.
[0093] As described, in some examples, the second CC may use a second mode that is different from the first mode used by the reference CC. For example, the second mode may correspond to a different number of TCI pools to be configured for the second CC. In method 600, at block 607, at least a subset of the one or more TCI pools may be configured for the second CC, wherein the second CC uses a second mode that is different from the first mode. In one aspect, the configuration component 452 (e.g., in conjunction with the processor 412, the memory 416, the transceiver 402, the BS communication component 442, etc.) may configure at least a subset of the one or more TCI pools for the second CC, wherein the second CC uses a second mode that is different from the first mode. For example, the first mode and the second mode may each be associated with a plurality of TCI pools (e.g., different numbers of TCI pools). In one example, when configuring at least a subset of the one or more TCI pools at block 607, optionally at block 608, in the case where the second CC is used in a second mode associated with a different number of TCI pools than the first mode for using the reference CC, the second CC may be configured with a subset of the one or more TCI pools based on the second mode. In an aspect, configuration component 452 (e.g., in conjunction with processor 412, memory 416, transceiver 402, BS communication component 442, etc.) can configure the second CC with a subset of the one or more TCI pools based on the second mode when the second CC is used in a second mode associated with a different number of TCI pools than the first mode for using the reference CC. This can be based on applying at least a portion of the TCI pool configuration of the reference CC, or applying the transmitted second TCI pool configuration for the second CC, as further described herein.
[0094] In the method 500, at block 507, at least a subset of the one or more TCI pools may be configured for a second CC, wherein the second CC uses a second mode different from the first mode. In one aspect, the configuration application component 352 (e.g., in conjunction with the processor 312, the memory 316, the transceiver 302, the UE communication component 342, etc.) may configure at least a subset of the one or more TCI pools for the second CC, wherein the second CC uses a second mode different from the first mode. For example, the first mode and the second mode may each be associated with a plurality of TCI pools (e.g., a different number of TCI pools). In one example, when configuring at least a subset of the one or more TCI pools at block 507, optionally at block 508, in the case where the second CC is used in a second mode associated with a different number of TCI pools than the first mode for using a reference CC, the second CC may be configured with a subset of the one or more TCI pools based on the second mode. In an aspect, the configuration application component 352 (e.g., in conjunction with the processor 312, the memory 316, the transceiver 302, the UE communication component 342, etc.) can configure the second CC with a subset of the one or more TCI pools based on the second mode when the second CC is used in a second mode associated with a different number of TCI pools than the first mode for using the reference CC. This can be based on applying at least a portion of the TCI pool configuration of the reference CC, or applying a received second TCI pool configuration for the second CC, as further described herein.
[0095] For example, for the same TCI type, some modes for one CC (e.g., mDCI) may have a TCI pool per TRP and some modes for another CC (e.g., sTRP) may have a single TCI pool. There may be a possible problem where the number of TCI pools may not match between the reference CC and the second (or target) CC. In the case where the reference CC is configured with multiple (e.g., two) TCI pools per TCI type (e.g., one pool per TRP) in the first mode and the target CC is configured with a single TCI pool in the second mode, a defined TCI pool may be configured for the second CC, which may include the first TCI pool from the TCI pool configuration of the reference CC. Even if there is no mismatch between the reference CC and the target CC in terms of the number of TCI pools, other problems may arise. For example, in the case where the reference CC is intra-cell only (which cannot be used to configure the target CC for inter-cell BM) and the reference CC is sTAG only, the association between the TAG and the TCI can be made through MAC-CE (e.g., a one-to-one mapping between the CORESET pool and the TAG ID), or the association between the TAG and the TCI can be defined in the RRC configuration (but the reference CC may not have an mTAG configuration in the RRC), as further described herein.
[0096] In one example, the RRC configuration of the TCI pool may be per CC. For example, in method 600, optionally at block 610, a second TCI pool of a second CC configuration including only one TCI pool for a second mode may be sent. In one aspect, configuration component 452 (e.g., in conjunction with processor 412, memory 416, transceiver 402, BS communication component 442, etc.) may send a second TCI pool configuration including only one TCI pool for a second mode for a second CC (e.g., to UE 104). For example, the TCI pool configuration may be sent using RRC signaling. For example, in method 500, optionally at block 510, a second TCI pool of a second CC configuration including only one TCI pool for a second mode may be received. In one aspect, configuration application component 352 (e.g., in conjunction with processor 312, memory 316, transceiver 302, UE communication component 342, etc.) may receive a second TCI pool configuration including only one TCI pool for a second mode for a second CC (e.g., from base station 102). For example, the TCI pool configuration may be received via RRC signaling. Since the TCI pool configuration is received for a CC, there may be no problem with the configuration, although the number of TCI pools for the CCs may be different. However, there may be potential problems with cross-CC activation of TCI pool subsets.
[0097] For example, in the case where the reference CC is configured with two TCI pools and the second CC to which the same activation is to be applied has one TCI pool, only the activation from the first TCI pool may be applied in the second CC to apply the same TCI activation. In one example, in the method 600, optionally at block 612, an activation command may be sent to activate a subset of TCI states for each TCI pool in a set of multiple TCI pools from the reference CC. In one aspect, the TCI state activation component 454 (e.g., in conjunction with the processor 412, the memory 416, the transceiver 402, the BS communication component 442, etc.) may send (e.g., to the UE 104) an activation command to activate a subset of TCI states for each TCI pool in a set of multiple TCI pools from the reference CC. For example, the activation command may be sent in a MAC-CE. In the method 600, optionally at block 614, for the second CC and based on the activation command, at least a portion of the TCI state subset from the one TCI pool may be activated, wherein the second CC is configured with only the one TCI pool. In one aspect, TCI state activation component 454 (e.g., in conjunction with processor 412, memory 416, transceiver 402, BS communication component 442, etc.) may activate at least a portion of the TCI state subset from the one TCI pool for a second CC and based on the activation command, wherein the second CC is configured with only the one TCI pool. For example, as described, activation of a first TCI pool from a reference CC may be applied to one TCI pool of a second CC.
[0098] In this example, in the method 500, optionally at block 512, an activation command may be received to activate a subset of TCI states for each TCI pool in a set of multiple TCI pools from a reference CC. In one aspect, the TCI state activation component 354 (e.g., in conjunction with the processor 312, the memory 316, the transceiver 302, the UE communication component 342, etc.) may receive (e.g., from the base station 102) an activation command to activate a subset of TCI states for each TCI pool in a set of multiple TCI pools from a reference CC. For example, the activation command may be received in a MAC-CE. In the method 500, optionally at block 514, for a second CC and based on the activation command, at least a portion of the TCI state subset from the one TCI pool may be activated, wherein the second CC is configured with only the one TCI pool. In one aspect, TCI state activation component 354 (e.g., in conjunction with processor 312, memory 316, transceiver 302, UE communication component 342, etc.) may activate at least a portion of the TCI state subset from the one TCI pool for a second CC and based on the activation command, wherein the second CC is configured with only the one TCI pool. For example, as described, activation of a first TCI pool from a reference CC may be applied to one TCI pool of a second CC.
[0099] In some examples, there may be some rules defined for the reference CC and the second CC for MAC-CE and DCI (e.g., in wireless communication technologies such as 5G NR). For example, if at least one CC is configured for inter-cell BM, the reference CC or BWP may be configured for inter-cell BM (e.g., in the reference CC configuration). In another example, if at least one CC is configured for mTAG, and the association between TAG and TCI is defined in RRC, the mTAG may be defined in the reference CC or BWP (e.g., in the reference CC configuration). Alternatively, the reference CC or BWP may be pre-configured with multiple TCI configurations for multiple modes, and the reference CC itself may apply only one of these TCI configurations.
[0100] In other examples, there may be exclusion rules for certain situations (e.g., in wireless communication technology standards such as 5GNR, and may be implemented in network nodes and / or UE 104), and the configuration component 452 and / or the activation component 454 may avoid certain configurations or activations based on the exclusion rules. For example, based on wireless communication technology standards such as 5G NR, the UE may not expect certain combinations / sub-use cases, such as the indicated target CC is sDCI and the CC on the same list is mDCI. In this case, the base station 102 may not configure sDCI and mDCI CCs on the same list for TCI activation / indication. For example, when sending an activation command at box 612, optionally at box 616, the base station 102 may avoid including a first group of one or more TCI states associated with a first group of multiple TRPs in the activation command, wherein a second group of one or more TCI states in the activation command is associated with a second group of at least one TRP. On the one hand, the TCI state activation component 454 (e.g., in conjunction with the processor 412, the memory 416, the transceiver 402, the BS communication component 442, etc.) may avoid including in the activation command a first group of one or more TCI states associated with a first group of multiple TRPs, wherein a second group of one or more TCI states in the activation command is associated with at least one TRP of the second group.
[0101] In another example, the exclusion rule may include allowing certain sub-use cases but not triggering a TCI update. For example, the mDCI may not apply TCI activation / indication from an sDCI CC on the same CC list. For example, in method 600, optionally at box 618, the base station 102 may avoid sending an mDCI for a TCI state indication for a first set of TCI states associated with a first set of multiple TRPs, the mDCI indicating the TCI state of a second set of at least one TRP using sDCI for TCI state indication. On the one hand, the TCI state activation component 454 (e.g., in conjunction with the processor 412, the memory 416, the transceiver 402, the BS communication component 442, etc.) may avoid sending an mDCI for a TCI state indication for a first set of TCI states associated with a first set of multiple TRPs, the mDCI indicating the TCI state of a second set of at least one TRP using sDCI for TCI state indication.
[0102] In another example, a mode change in a CC can be triggered by a TCI MAC-CE to avoid a mismatch in mode. Thus, for example, the activation command sent at block 612 and / or received at block 512 can indicate a mode change for at least one CC such that the CCs' TCI pool quantities match (although the CCs' modes can be the same or different). In the event that a mode change is received in an activation command, the configuration application component 352 can change the mode of the associated CC before activating the TCI state subset indicated in the activation command.

Figure 1 and Figure 3 One or more of the components described in the method 700 may be used to perform the functions described in the method 700. In one example, a network node such as a base station 102, a gNB, a monolithic base station or a gNB, a decomposed base station or a portion of a gNB, etc. may use Figure 1 and Figure 4 One or more of the components described in the method 800 may be used to perform the functions described in the method 800. For ease of explanation, the methods 700 and 800 are described in conjunction with each other; however, the methods 700 and 800 need not be performed together and may in fact be performed independently using separate devices.
[0104] In method 800, at block 802, a reference CC configuration based on a reference CC of a first set of TRPs including at least one of a first TRP or a second TRP may be sent. In one aspect, configuration component 452 (e.g., in conjunction with processor 412, memory 416, transceiver 402, BS communication component 442, etc.) may send (e.g., to UE 104) a reference CC configuration based on a reference CC of a first set of TRPs including at least one of a first TRP or a second TRP. For example, the reference CC configuration may configure a reference CC for UE 104, wherein the reference CC may be configured on a first TRP and / or a second TRP, such that UE 104 may send uplink communications to the first TRP and / or the second TRP and / or receive downlink communications from the first TRP and / or the second TRP on the reference CC. For example, the reference CC configuration may be sent using RRC signaling.
[0105] In method 700, at box 702, a reference CC configuration based on a reference CC of a first set of TRPs including at least one of a first TRP or a second TRP may be received. In one aspect, a configuration application component 352 (e.g., in conjunction with processor 312, memory 316, transceiver 302, UE communication component 342, etc.) may receive (e.g., from base station 102) a reference CC configuration based on a reference CC of a first set of TRPs including at least one of a first TRP or a second TRP.
[0106] In method 800, at block 804, a second CC configuration of a second CC based on a second set of TRPs including at least one of a first TRP or a second TRP may be sent. In one aspect, configuration component 452 (e.g., in conjunction with processor 412, memory 416, transceiver 402, BS communication component 442, etc.) may send (e.g., to UE 104) a second CC configuration of a second CC based on a first set of TRPs including at least one of a first TRP or a second TRP. For example, the second CC configuration may configure a second CC for UE 104 in addition to a reference CC, wherein the second CC may be configured on the first TRP and / or the second TRP, such that UE 104 may send uplink communications to the first TRP and / or the second TRP and / or receive downlink communications from the first TRP and / or the second TRP on the second CC. For example, the second CC configuration may be sent using RRC signaling.
[0107] In method 700, at box 704, a second CC configuration of a second CC based on a first set of TRPs including at least one of a first TRP or a second TRP may be received. In one aspect, the configuration application component 352 (e.g., in conjunction with the processor 312, the memory 316, the transceiver 302, the UE communication component 342, etc.) may receive (e.g., from the base station 102) a second CC configuration of a second CC based on a first set of TRPs including at least one of the first TRP or the second TRP. For example, the second CC configuration may configure a second CC for the UE 104 in addition to the reference CC, wherein the second CC may be configured on the first TRP and / or the second TRP so that the UE 104 may send uplink communications to the first TRP and / or the second TRP and / or receive downlink communications from the first TRP and / or the second TRP on the second CC. For example, the second CC configuration may be received via RRC signaling.
[0108] For example, the reference CC and the second CC may be configured on different frequency bands or subbands. In this regard, for example, one CC may be an mTRP while the other CC is an sTRP, or one CC may use sDCI while the other CC uses mDCI, or one CC may use sTAG while the other CC uses mTAG, and so on. This may present some potential problems for RRC configuration of a TCI pool (where the TCI pool used for the reference CC is also used to configure the second CC), as described herein.
[0109] In method 800, at block 806, a TCI pool configuration for using a reference CC in a first mode may be sent, wherein the TCI pool configuration includes at least one of a first TCI pool or a second TCI pool for at least one of a first TRP or a second TRP. In one aspect, configuration component 452 (e.g., in conjunction with processor 412, memory 416, transceiver 402, BS communication component 442, etc.) may send (e.g., to UE 104) a TCI pool configuration for using a reference CC in a first mode, wherein the TCI pool configuration includes at least one of a first TCI pool or a second TCI pool for at least one of a first TRP or a second TRP.
[0110] In method 700, at block 706, a TCI pool configuration for using a reference CC in a first mode may be received, wherein the TCI pool configuration includes at least one of a first TCI pool or a second TCI pool for at least one of a first TRP or a second TRP. In one aspect, a configuration application component 352 (e.g., in conjunction with processor 312, memory 316, transceiver 302, UE communication component 342, etc.) may receive (e.g., from base station 102) a TCI pool configuration for using a reference CC in a first mode, wherein the TCI pool configuration includes at least one of a first TCI pool or a second TCI pool for at least one of a first TRP or a second TRP. For example, the TCI pool configuration may be received via RRC signaling.
[0111] As described, in some examples, the second CC may use a second mode that is different from the first mode used by the reference CC. For example, the second mode may correspond to a different number of TCI pools to be configured for the second CC. In method 800, at block 807, at least a subset of the one or more TCI pools (e.g., the first TCI pool or the second TCI pool) may be configured for the second CC, wherein the second CC uses a second mode that is different from the first mode. In an aspect, the configuration component 452 (e.g., in conjunction with the processor 412, the memory 416, the transceiver 402, the BS communication component 442, etc.) may configure at least a subset of the one or more TCI pools for the second CC, wherein the second CC uses a second mode that is different from the first mode. For example, the first mode and the second mode may each be associated with a plurality of TCI pools (e.g., a different number of TCI pools). In one example, when configuring at least a subset of the one or more TCI pools at block 807, at least one of the first TCI pool or the second TCI pool may be configured for a second CC based on the TCI pool configuration for the reference CC, optionally at block 808, wherein the second CC uses a second mode different from the first mode. In an aspect, configuration component 452 (e.g., in conjunction with processor 412, memory 416, transceiver 402, BS communication component 442, etc.) may configure at least one of the first TCI pool or the second TCI pool for the second CC based on the TCI pool configuration for the reference CC, wherein the second CC uses a second mode different from the first mode.
[0112] In the method 700, at block 707, at least a subset of the one or more TCI pools (e.g., a first TCI pool or a second TCI pool) may be configured for a second CC, wherein the second CC uses a second mode different from the first mode. In one example, when configuring at least a subset of the one or more TCI pools at block 707, optionally at block 708, at least one of the first TCI pool or the second TCI pool may be configured for the second CC based on the TCI pool configuration for the reference CC, wherein the second CC uses a second mode different from the first mode. In one aspect, the configuration application component 352 (e.g., in conjunction with the processor 312, the memory 316, the transceiver 302, the UE communication component 342, etc.) may configure at least one of the first TCI pool or the second TCI pool for a second CC based on the TCI pool configuration for the reference CC, wherein the second CC uses a second mode different from the first mode.
[0113] There may be some cases where the mode difference between CCs causes problems when configuring a second CC using the TCI pool for the reference CC. For example, where the mode for the reference CC is intra-cell only, the TCI pool configuration may not be used to configure the second CC for inter-cell BM, and the configuration component 452 may avoid such configuration accordingly. In another example, where the mode for the reference CC is sTAG only, the association between TAG and TCI may be made via MAC-CE (e.g., a one-to-one mapping between CORESET pool and TAG ID), and therefore, the TCI state activation component 454 may include the association in the activation command.
[0114] For example, in method 800, optionally at block 810, an activation command for a reference CC may be sent to activate a subset of TCI states in a TCI pool configuration, wherein the activation command indicates an association between a first TCI pool of the reference CC and a sTAG. In one aspect, configuration component 452 (e.g., in conjunction with processor 412, memory 416, transceiver 402, BS communication component 442, etc.) may send an activation command for a reference CC to activate a subset of TCI states in a TCI pool configuration, wherein the activation command indicates an association between a first TCI pool of the reference CC and a sTAG. For example, the activation command may be sent in a MAC-CE. In this example, TCI state activation component 454 may determine which TCI states to activate for a given CC based on an indication in the activation command. In another example, configuration component 452 may determine which TCI pool to use for a second CC based on an indication in the activation command (e.g., at block 808).
[0115] In the method 700, optionally at block 710, an activation command for a reference CC may be received to activate a subset of TCI states in a TCI pool configuration, wherein the activation command indicates an association between a first TCI pool of the reference CC and a sTAG. In one aspect, the configuration application component 352 (e.g., in conjunction with the processor 312, the memory 316, the transceiver 302, the UE communication component 342, etc.) may receive an activation command for a reference CC to activate a subset of TCI states in a TCI pool configuration, wherein the activation command indicates an association between a first TCI pool of the reference CC and a sTAG. For example, the activation command may be received in a MAC-CE. In this example, the TCI state activation component 354 may determine which TCI states to activate for a given CC based on an indication in the activation command. In another example, the configuration application component 352 may determine which TCI pool to use for a second CC based on an indication in the activation command (e.g., at block 708).
[0116] In another example, the association between the TAG and the TCI can be defined in a TCI pool configuration sent in RRC signaling (e.g., at block 806) or received in RRC signaling (e.g., at block 706). In this example, configuration component 452 can include the indication in the TCI pool configuration, and / or configuration application component 352 can determine the TCI pool for the TAG of the second CC based on the indication in the TCI pool configuration. In another example, configuration component 452 can not indicate the mTAG for the reference CC in the TCI pool configuration (at least if the second CC is associated with an mTAG).
[0117] In one example, if a CC in the frequency band is configured with inter-cell TCI (e.g., additionalPCIlist is configured in the RRC of the CC), the reference CC may not be configured with only an intra-cell TCI pool. Thus, for example, the configuration component 452 may avoid configuring the TCI pool configuration for the reference CC as intra-cell (e.g., intra-cell mode), where the second CC is configured or is to be configured with or as inter-cell (e.g., inter-cell mode). When the link between TCI and TAG ID is configured in the RRC as described above, if the CC in the frequency band is configured with an mTAG, the reference CC may not be configured with an sTAG. In this example, where the configuration component 452 configures the TCI and TAG association, it may avoid configuring the reference CC with an sTAG, where the second CC is configured or is to be configured with or as an mTAG.
[0118] In another example, if the target CC in the band is configured with intra-cell TCI (e.g., additionalPCIlist is configured in the RRC of the CC) and the reference BWP is configured with inter-cell TCI, then for the TCI configuration of the target CC, TCI associated with non-serving cell TCI may be ignored when applying the reference configuration. For example, where the TCI pool configuration for the reference CC includes multiple TCI pools and the second CC is configured in a mode associated with a single TCI pool, the configuration application component 352 may ignore the non-serving TCI pool in the TCI pool configuration and may apply the TCI pool corresponding to the second CC mode. Similar rules may be used for mTAG, such that for configuring the second CC, if the reference CC has multiple TAG TCIs and the second CC has a single TAG configuration, the configuration application component 352 may ignore the second TAG configuration in the TCI pool configuration for the reference CC.
[0119] In other examples, in the case where there is a mismatch between mTAG and sTAG, the problem can be solved based on how the TAG ID is linked to the TCI. For example, in the case where the TCI to TAG ID association is in the TCI pool configuration in the RRC, the reference CC with sTAG (e.g., in a mode corresponding to sTRP, sDCI, or mDCI with sTAG) may not be used to configure the TCI pool in the second CC with mTAG. As described above, when the reference CC with mTAG is used to configure the TCI pool in the second CC with sTAG, the TCI associated with the second TAG may be ignored. In the case where the TCI to TAG ID association is in the MAC-CE or DCI, there may be no problem in the RRC configuration of the TCI pool for the reference CC and the second CC. In the case where the RRC configuration of the TCI pool is per CC, there may be no problem with the TCI pool for the reference CC and the second CC.

Fig.10 A flow chart illustrating an example of a method 1000 for sending an activation command to activate TCI states of multiple CCs using different modes according to various aspects described herein, wherein the TCI state activation of one CC is used to activate the TCI state of another CC. In one example, UE 104 may use Figure 1 and Figure 3 One or more of the components described in the method 900 may be used to perform the functions described in the method 900. In one example, a network node such as a base station 102, a gNB, a monolithic base station or a gNB, a decomposed base station or a portion of a gNB, etc. may use Figure 1 and Figure 4 One or more of the components described in the method 1000 may be used to perform the functions described in the method 1000. For ease of explanation, methods 900 and 1000 are described in conjunction with each other; however, methods 900 and 1000 need not be performed together and may in fact be performed independently using separate devices.
[0121] In method 1000, at block 1002, a reference CC configuration based on a reference CC of a first set of TRPs including one or more of a first TRP or a second TRP may be sent. For example, the reference CC configuration may configure a reference CC for UE 104, wherein the reference CC may be configured on a first TRP and / or a second TRP such that UE 104 may send uplink communications to the first TRP and / or the second TRP and / or receive downlink communications from the first TRP and / or the second TRP on the reference CC. For example, the reference CC configuration may be sent using RRC signaling.
[0122] In method 900, at box 902, a reference CC configuration based on a reference CC of a first set of TRPs including one or more of a first TRP or a second TRP may be received.
[0123] In method 1000, at block 1004, a second CC configuration of a second CC based on a second set of TRPs including one or more of the first TRP or the second TRP may be sent.
[0124] In method 900, at box 904, a second CC configuration for a second CC based on a first set of TRPs including one or more of a first TRP or a second TRP may be received.
[0125] For example, the reference CC and the second CC may be configured on different frequency bands or subbands. In this regard, for example, one CC may be an mTRP and the other CC is an sTRP, or one CC may use sDCI and the other CC uses mDCI, or one CC may use sTAG and the other CC uses mTAG, etc. This may have some potential problems for activating a subset of the TCI states indicated in the configured TCI pool, or otherwise indicating or using TCI states from an activated subset (e.g., in a DCI), as described herein.
[0126] In method 1000, optionally at block 1006, an activation command for activating a subset of TCI states in at least one of the first TCI pool or the second TCI pool for at least one of the first TRP or the second TRP may be sent for a reference CC to use the first mode on the reference CC. In one aspect, TCI state activation component 454 (e.g., in conjunction with processor 412, memory 416, transceiver 402, BS communication component 442, etc.) may send (e.g., to UE 104) for a reference CC an activation command for activating a subset of TCI states in at least one of the first TCI pool or the second TCI pool for at least one of the first TRP or the second TRP to use the first mode on the reference CC. In method 900, optionally at block 906, an activation command for activating a subset of TCI states in at least one of the first TCI pool or the second TCI pool for at least one of the first TRP or the second TRP may be received for a reference CC to use the first mode on the reference CC. On the one hand, the TCI state activation component 454 (e.g., in conjunction with the processor 412, the memory 416, the transceiver 402, the BS communication component 442, etc.) may receive (e.g., from the base station 102) an activation command for activating a subset of TCI states in a first TCI pool or at least one of a second TCI pool for at least one of the first TRP or the second TRP for a reference CC to use a first mode on the reference CC.
[0127] In one example, an activation command may be sent in the MAC-CE to narrow down a portion of the TCI states in the TCI pool. In addition, in one example, based on the mode, the second CC may be configured with a different number of TCI pools than the reference CC, which may affect the activation of the TCI state of the second CC, where the reference CC and the second CC are in a list for joint or cross-CC TCI state activation. The TCI state activation component 354 and / or the TCI state activation component 454 may activate the TCI state of the second CC based on the activation command corresponding to the reference CC based on one or more rules described herein.
[0128] In method 1000, optionally at block 1008, at least a subset of TCI states in a first TCI pool may be activated for a second CC and based on an activation command, wherein the second CC uses a second mode different from the first mode. In one aspect, a TCI state activation component 454 (e.g., in conjunction with processor 412, memory 416, transceiver 402, BS communication component 442, etc.) may activate at least a subset of TCI states in a first TCI pool for a second CC and based on an activation command, wherein the second CC uses a second mode different from the first mode. In method 900, optionally at block 908, at least a subset of TCI states in a first TCI pool may be activated for a second CC and based on an activation command, wherein the second CC uses a second mode different from the first mode.
[0129] In one example, there may be a MAC-CE mismatch problem (assuming that a TCI pool has been configured in the CC). For example, the sDCI MAC-CE format (e.g., for the reference CC) may not be directly applied to activate the TCI in the mDCI CC (e.g., the second CC). Generally speaking, there may be no problem between inter-cell BM cells and intra-cell BM cells as long as their MAC-CE formats are the same. For example, the inter-cell sTRP and the intra-cell sTRP may use the same MAC-CE format to activate TCIs from their TCI lists. The MAC-CE may include a list of TCI IDs, and the same TCI ID may refer to different TCIs in different cells.
[0130] In another example, in the same CC list, CCs with different modes that may cause conflicts may not be configured with cross CC activation commands. For example, it is unlikely that a CC in sTRP mode and a CC in mTRP mode are configured in the same CC unless the reference CC is sTRP and the second CC using the reference CC activation command is mTRP. In one example, as described, the mTRP MAC-CE may be applied to the sTRP CC by ignoring the activation of the TCI from the second CORESET pool / TAG. The TCI state activation component 354 and / or the TCI state activation component 354 may activate the TCI state of the second CC accordingly based on such considerations.
[0131] Similar considerations may be used to indicate and use a TCI state for a resource grant (e.g., as indicated in a DCI). For example, in method 1000, optionally at box 1010, a DCI indicating one TCI state in a subset of TCI states in a first TCI pool or at least one of a second TCI pool for at least one of a first TRP or a second TRP may be sent for a reference CC to use a first mode on the reference CC. In one aspect, a TCI state activation component 454 (e.g., in conjunction with processor 412, memory 416, transceiver 402, BS communication component 442, etc.) may send (e.g., to UE 104) a DCI indicating one TCI state in a subset of TCI states in a first TCI pool or at least one of a second TCI pool for at least one of a first TRP or a second TRP for a reference CC to use a first mode on the reference CC. In the method 900, optionally at block 910, a DCI indicating one TCI state in a subset of TCI states in at least one of the first TCI pool or the second TCI pool for at least one of the first TRP or the second TRP may be received for a reference CC to use the first mode on the reference CC. In one aspect, the TCI state activation component 454 (e.g., in conjunction with the processor 412, the memory 416, the transceiver 402, the BS communication component 442, etc.) may receive (e.g., from the base station 102) for the reference CC a DCI indicating one TCI state in a subset of TCI states in at least one of the first TRP or the second TRP for at least one of the first TRP or the second TRP to use the first mode on the reference CC.
[0132] In one example, a DCI may be sent from a network node to a UE to grant resources for communications and may indicate a TCI state in each of one or more TCI state subsets that may be used for these communications. In addition, in one example, based on the mode, the second CC may be configured with a different number of TCI pools than the reference CC, which may affect the indication of the TCI state of the second CC, where the reference CC and the second CC are in a list for joint or cross CC TCI state indication. The TCI state component 356 and / or the TCI state indication component 456 may use the TCI state in the DCI for the second CC based on the DCI indication corresponding to the reference CC based on one or more rules described herein.
[0133] In the method 1000, optionally at block 1012, for a second CC and based on the DCI, one TCI state in a subset of TCI states in the first TCI pool may be used, wherein the second CC uses a second mode different from the first mode. In one aspect, the TCI state activation component 454 (e.g., in conjunction with the processor 412, the memory 416, the transceiver 402, the BS communication component 442, etc.) may use, for a second CC and based on the DCI, one TCI state in a subset of TCI states in the first TCI pool, wherein the second CC uses a second mode different from the first mode. In the method 1000, optionally at block 1012, for a second CC and based on the DCI, one TCI state in a subset of TCI states in the first TCI pool may be used, wherein the second CC uses a second mode different from the first node. In one aspect, the TCI state activation component 454 (e.g., in conjunction with the processor 412, the memory 416, the transceiver 402, the BS communication component 442, etc.) may use at least one TCI state from a subset of TCI states in the first TCI pool for a second CC and based on the DCI, wherein the second CC uses a second mode different from the first mode.
[0134] For example, when one TCI state in the TCI state subset is used at blocks 912 and / or 1012, various rules may be applied to determine how to indicate or use the TCI state based on the pattern of the reference CC and the second CC. In one example, these rules may be defined in a wireless communication technology standard (such as 5G NR) and may be implemented in a network node and / or UE 104. For example, to resolve the mismatch between the mTAG and the sTAG for the reference CC and the second CC, rules may be defined or used based on how the TAG ID is linked to the TCI. For example, if the TCI is linked to the TAG ID in the RRC configuration of the TCI pool, there may be no problem for MAC-CE activation because the activation command may indicate the TAG ID, which may be resolved to the associated TCI pool for the TAG per CC. In another example, if the TCI is individually linked to the TAG ID in the MAC-CE, for example, the TAG ID is associated with each TCI ID in the MAC-CE for mTAG activation, this may not be resolved when the second CC is an sTAG and the reference CC to which the same update is applied is an mTAG. When the target CC is an mTAG and the reference CC to which the same update is applied is an sTAG, the TCI state activation component 354 and / or the TCI state activation component 454 may ignore activation in the command related to the second TAG ID when activating the TCI state of the second CC.
[0135] In another example, if the TAG ID is pre-linked to the CORESET pool ID and the CORESET pool ID is indicated in the MAC-CE, the current rules may apply as long as the sTRP cell ignores the link between the TAG ID and the CORESET pool ID. However, the base station 102 may not want to operate in this manner, so TCIs of the same ID activated in different cells may correspond to different Rx filters. In another example, if the TCI is linked to the TAG ID in the DCI, this may not be resolved when the second CC is an sTAG and the reference CC to which the same update is applied is an mTAG. When the target CC is an mTAG and the reference CC to which the same update is applied is an sTAG, the TCI state component 356 and / or the TCI state indication component 456 may ignore any TCI indication of the mTAG TCI in the DCI for the reference CC when using the indicated TCI state for the second CC.
[0136] In one example, the TCI state activation component 354 and / or the TCI state activation component 454 may use the mDCI to sDCI conversion rule for MAC-CE activation to activate the TCI state subset of the second CC based on the activation command received for the reference CC. For example, the activation MAC-CE of the nth TCI of the mth CORESET pool in the mDCI CC (reference CC) in the activation command may update the mth TCI in the nth TCI code point in the sDCI CC (second CC). If the mDCI activation MAC-CE from the mth CORESET pool contains only N TCIs, the reserved index (indicating that there is no TCI from the TRP) may be filled in for the mth TCI in the nth TCI code point, where n>N in the activation command. If the mDCI CC is for an mTAG, the sDCI may ignore the TCI code point containing the TCI associated with the second TAG.
[0137] In one example, the TCI state component 356 and / or the TCI state indication component 456 may apply an mDCI to sDCI conversion rule to the DCI indication to use or indicate one of the TCI states in the TCI state subset of the second CC based on the DCI indication received for the reference CC. For example, only the TCI indication of CORESET pool 0 in the mDCI CC (reference CC) may be applied to the sDCI CC (second CC). In another example, for the sDCI CC, the indicated TCI in the sDCI CC may be a floating TCI code point that is outside the TCI list activated by the MAC-CE. When the TCI indication X is from the mDCI CC, the mth CORESET pool, the mth TCI in the floating TCI code point may be updated to the corresponding TCI (e.g., the mth TCI in the Xth TCI code point). When the TCI indication X is from the sDCI CC itself, the floating TCI code point may be updated to the Xth TCI code point in the sDCI CC. There may or may not be a translation rule to convert mDCI into sDCI.
[0138] In one example, in the case of mTRP, such as mTRP mDCI, the MAC-CE may activate the TCI corresponding to the TRP or CORESET. If the TCI state activation component 454 sends and / or the TCI state activation component 354 receives an activation command in the MAC-CE to activate a single TCI for the TRP, the TCI state indication component 456 and / or the TCI state component 356 may autonomously apply the single TCI to the applicable channel after a period of time (e.g., 3 milliseconds) from receiving the MAC-CE. In this case, it may not be necessary to use DCI to narrow down the TCI because it is not necessary to narrow down the TCI from a list of single TCI candidates. In this example, using one TCI state in the TCI state subset at block 912 or 1012 may include using the one TCI state in the TCI state subset after the time period, wherein the subset has only the one TCI state.
[0139] Fig.11 1 is a block diagram of a MIMO communication system 1100 including a base station 102 and a UE 104. The MIMO communication system 1100 may be exemplified with reference to Figure 1 The wireless communication access network 100 is described in detail. The base station 102 may be a reference Figure 1Examples of various aspects of base station 102 are described. Base station 102 may be equipped with antenna 1134 and antenna 1135, and UE 104 may be equipped with antenna 1152 and antenna 1153. In MIMO communication system 1100, base station 102 may be able to transmit data over multiple communication links simultaneously. Each communication link may be referred to as a "layer", and the "rank" of a communication link may indicate the number of layers used for communication. For example, in a 2x2 MIMO communication system in which base station 102 transmits two "layers", the rank of the communication link between base station 102 and UE 104 is two.
[0140] At the base station 102, a transmit (Tx) processor 1120 may receive data from a data source. The transmit processor 1120 may process the data. The transmit processor 1120 may also generate a control symbol or a reference symbol. The transmit MIMO processor 1130 may perform spatial processing (e.g., pre-coding) on the data symbol, the control symbol, or the reference symbol (if applicable), and may provide an output symbol stream to the transmit modulator / demodulators 1132 and 1133. Each modulator / demodulator 1132 to 1133 may process a corresponding output symbol stream (e.g., for OFDM, etc.) to obtain an output sample stream. Each modulator / demodulator 1132 to 1133 may further process the output sample stream (e.g., convert the output sample stream to analog, amplify, filter, and up-convert) to obtain a DL signal. In one example, the DL signals from the modulator / demodulators 1132 and 1133 may be transmitted via antennas 1134 and 1135, respectively.
[0141] UE 104 may be a reference Figure 1 and Figure 3 Examples of various aspects of the UE 104 described herein. At the UE 104, the UE antenna 1152 and the antenna 1153 may receive DL signals from the base station 102 and may provide received signals to modulators / demodulators 1154 and 1155, respectively. Each modulator / demodulator 1154 to 1155 may condition a corresponding received signal (e.g., filter, amplify, downconvert, and digitize the corresponding received signal) to obtain input samples. Each modulator / demodulator 1154 to 1155 may further process the input samples (e.g., for OFDM, etc.) to obtain received symbols. The MIMO detector 1156 may obtain received symbols from the modulators / demodulators 1154 and 1155, perform MIMO detection on the received symbols (if applicable), and provide detected symbols. The receive (Rx) processor 1158 may process (eg, demodulate, deinterleave, and decode) the detected symbols to provide decoded data for the UE 104 to a data output and to provide decoded control information to a processor 1180 or memory 1182 .
[0142] In some cases, processor 1180 may execute stored instructions to instantiate UE communication component 342 (see, e.g., Figure 1 and Figure 3 ).
[0143] On the uplink (UL), at the UE 104, a transmit processor 1164 may receive and process data from a data source. The transmit processor 1164 may also generate reference symbols for reference signals. The symbols from the transmit processor 1164 may be pre-decoded by a transmit MIMO processor 1166 (if applicable), further processed by modulators / demodulators 1154 and 1155 (e.g., for single carrier FDMA, etc.), and transmitted to the base station 102 according to the communication parameters received from the base station 102. At the base station 102, the UL signal from the UE 104 may be received by antennas 1134 and 1135, processed by modulators / demodulators 1132 and 1133, detected by a MIMO detector 1136 (if applicable), and further processed by a receive processor 1138. The receive processor 1138 may provide decoded data to a data output and to the processor 1140 or memory 1142.
[0144] In some cases, processor 1140 may execute stored instructions to instantiate BS communication component 442 (see, e.g., Figure 1 and Figure 4 ).
[0145] The components of the UE 104 may be implemented individually or collectively using one or more ASICs, wherein the one or more ASICs are adapted to perform some or all of the applicable functions in hardware. Each of the modules indicated may be a component for performing one or more functions related to the operation of the MIMO communication system 1100. Similarly, the components of the base station 102 may be implemented individually or collectively using one or more application specific integrated circuits (ASICs), which are adapted to perform some or all of the applicable functions in hardware. Each of the components indicated may be a component for performing one or more functions related to the operation of the MIMO communication system 1100.
