AI Technical Summary
Technical Problem
During cardiac diagnostic operations, the multi-electrode catheter may experience electrode disconnection, resulting in impairment of the integrity of the cardiac electrical activity mapping, which may lead to incorrect treatment decisions.
Method used
The disconnected electrode is identified by associating the output signal of each electrode with the reference signal using an electrocardiogram (ECG) signal. This method does not require injecting additional signals, avoiding undesirable effects on the body.
Benefits of technology
Effectively identifying and eliminating disconnected electrode signals improves the accuracy of cardiac electrical activity mapping and avoids incorrect decisions and operation risks caused by disconnecting the electrodes.

Abstract
The subject matter of the invention is a method and system for identifying a broken catheter electrode. A method, apparatus and computer program product, the method comprising: obtaining a plurality of electrical signals obtained from a plurality of electrodes disposed distally on a catheter inserted in one or more chambers of a patient's heart, wherein electrical activity in one or more locations within the heart is obtained from one or more electrical signals obtained from one or more of the plurality of electrodes; identifying one or more signals from the plurality of electrical signals as emanating from one or more disconnected electrodes, the identifying utilizing a correlation with a reference signal measured within the heart, where the reference signal is associated with a reference electrode; and generating an electrical activity map within the heart based on the plurality of electrical signals excluding one or more electrical signals originating from the disconnected electrode.
