Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] The present application generally relates to wireless communication systems, including wireless communication systems using TCI status indication methods. Background Art
[0002] Wireless mobile communication technologies use various standards and protocols to send data between base stations and wireless communication devices. For example, wireless communication system standards and protocols may include the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Long Term Evolution (LTE) (e.g., 4G), 3GPP New Radio (NR) (e.g., 5G), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 standard for wireless local area networks (WLANs) (commonly referred to within industry organizations as WLANs). ).
[0003] As envisioned by 3GPP, different wireless communication system standards and protocols may use various radio access networks (RANs) to communicate between base stations of the RAN (which may also sometimes be referred to as RAN nodes, network nodes, or simply nodes) and wireless communication devices referred to as user equipment (UE). 3GPP RANs may include, for example, Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM), Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution (EDGE) RAN (GERAN), Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (UTRAN), Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN), and / or Next Generation Radio Access Network (NG-RAN).
[0004] Each RAN may use one or more radio access technologies (RATs) to perform communications between base stations and UEs. For example, GERAN implements GSM and / or EDGE RAT, UTRAN implements Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) RAT or other 3GPP RAT, E-UTRAN implements LTE RAT (sometimes referred to as LTE), and NG-RAN implements NR RAT (sometimes referred to as 5G RAT, 5GNR RAT, or NR in this document). In some deployments, E-UTRAN may also implement NR RAT. In some deployments, NG-RAN may also implement LTE RAT.
[0005] The base stations used by the RAN may correspond to the RAN. An example of an E-UTRAN base station is an Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN) Node B (also commonly denoted as an evolved Node B, enhanced Node B, eNodeB, or eNB). An example of an NG-RAN base station is a Next Generation Node B (sometimes also referred to as a g-Node B or gNB).
[0006] The RAN provides its communication services with external entities through its connection to the Core Network (CN). For example, E-UTRAN may utilize the Evolved Packet Core (EPC) while NG-RAN may utilize the 5G Core Network (5GC).
[0007] The frequency bands of 5G NR can be divided into two or more different frequency ranges. For example, frequency range 1 (FR1) may include frequency bands operating at frequencies below 6 gigahertz (GHz), some of which are available for use by previous standards and can potentially be expanded to cover new spectrum products from 410 megahertz (MHz) to 7125MHz. Frequency range 2 (FR2) may include frequency bands from 24.25GHz to 52.6GHz. It should be noted that in some systems, FR2 may also include frequency bands from 52.6GHz to 71GHz (or higher). The frequency bands in the millimeter wave (mmWave) range of FR2 may have smaller coverage than the frequency bands in FR1 but potentially higher available bandwidth. Technicians will recognize that these frequency ranges provided by way of example may vary over time or region. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0024] Various embodiments are described with respect to UE. However, reference to UE is provided for illustrative purposes only. The example embodiments may be used with any electronic component that can establish a connection with a network and is configured with hardware, software, and / or firmware for exchanging information and data with the network. Therefore, UE as described herein is used to represent any suitable electronic component.
[0025] A few years after the initial NR deployment, the Transmit Configuration Indicator (TCI) status framework in Release 15 became unnecessarily flexible, which resulted in significant signaling overhead. A unified TCI framework was introduced in Release 17, which facilitates streamlined multi-beam operation targeting FR2. Because Release 17 focuses on single transmit receive point (TRP) (sTRP) application scenarios, an extension of the unified TCI framework focusing on multiple TRP (mTRP) application scenarios is beneficial.
[0026] There is a need for an enhancement of the Release 17 unified TCI framework for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) evolution for downlink (DL) and uplink (UL). This enhancement of the Release 17 unified TCI framework for mTRP application scenarios may specify indication of multiple DL and UL TCI states focused on mTRP application scenarios.
[0027] The Release 17 TCI framework provides optimized support for scenarios where all UL and DL signals / channels are received / transmitted using the same beam or TCI. It also provides optimized support for scenarios where all DL signals are received in one beam and all UL signals are transmitted in one beam. Within these aspects of the Release 17 unified TCI framework, support for mTRP reception may not be possible.
[0028] Figure 1 Diagram 100 illustrates extending the unified TCI framework for mTRP using more than two UL / UL TCI states according to one embodiment.
[0029] The potential problems of the unified TCI framework extension for multiple downlink control information (mDCI) mTRP application scenarios are: 1) How to provide multiple TCI states associated with mTRP to the UE (e.g., four TCI states 001 / 002 / 003 / 004 with TRP#1 and TRP#2, respectively, such as Figure 1 ), and 2) how to select multiple DL or UL TCI states for different DL / UL channel reception / transmission, considering the time before and after timeDurationForQCL starting from the symbol of DL downlink control information (DCI).
[0030] According to certain aspects of the present disclosure, multiple methods may be considered for unified TCI status indication for mDCI mTRP application scenarios.
[0031] First, the UE may be configured with up to four TCI state lists, as follows: a first DL TCI state list and a first UL TCI state list for a first TRP, and a second DL TCI state list and a second UL TCI state list for the first TRP. A control resource set (CORESET) pool index (CORESETPoolIndex) value of "0" or "1" may be assigned to each DL TCI state list and UL TCI state list.
[0032] Figure 2A206. A first TCI state list set 202 and a second TCI state list set 204 are illustrated, distinguished by their corresponding CORESETPoolIndex 206. The first TCI state list set 202 may be for a first TRP 208 and include a first DL TCI state list 210 and a first UL TCI state list 212. As illustrated, the first DL TCI state list 210 and the first UL TCI state list 212 correspond to using a value of "0" as the applicable CORESETPoolIndex 206.
[0033] The second TCI state list set 204 may be for a second TRP 214 and include a second DL TCI state list 216 and a second UL TCI state list 218. As illustrated, the second DL TCI state list 216 and the second UL TCI state list 218 correspond to using a value of "1" as the applicable CORESETPoolIndex 206.
[0034] Then, once the UE is configured with up to four TCI state lists, a new medium access control element (MAC-CE) may be introduced to activate the DL or UL TCI state for CORESETPoolIndex. Figure 2B A MAC-CE 220 for activating a DL or UL TCI state for CORESETPoolIndex is illustrated.
[0035] A new MAC-CE is identified by a Medium Access Control (MAC) subheader with a dedicated Logical Channel Identifier (ID) (LCID). It has a variable size and consists of the following fields:
[0036] Serving cell ID field 222, DL bandwidth part (BWP) ID field 224 and UL BWPID field 226, which respectively indicate the identity of the serving cell, DL BWP and UL BWP to which the MAC-CE is applied;
[0037] CORESETPoolIndex field 228, which indicates the value of CORESETPoolIndex;
[0038] ·P i Field 230, which indicates whether each TCI code point has multiple TCI states or a single TCI state;
[0039] D / U fields 232, each indicating whether the TCI state ID in the same octet is for a downlink or uplink TCI state for the TCI state list with the indicated TRP ID; and
[0040] • TCI State ID field 234, which indicates the TCI state index provided by Radio Resource Control (RRC) signaling for the corresponding TCI state list associated with the indicated TRP ID.
[0041] Alternatively, the CORESETPoolIndex value can be implicitly determined based on the control resource set (CORESET) of the MAC-CE physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) detected.With this design, CORESETPoolIndex does not need to be carried in the MAC-CE context.
[0042] Then, according to certain aspects of the present disclosure, multiple methods may be considered for unified TCI status indication for mDCI mTRP application scenarios using DCI format.
[0043] In a first alternative, the existing TCI field in DCI format 1_1 / 1_2 (with or without DL allocation) associated with one of the CORESETPoolIndex values is used to indicate the joint / DL / UL TCI state corresponding to the same CORESETPoolIndex value.
[0044] In a second alternative, the existing TCI field in any DCI format 1_1 / 1_2 (with or without DL allocation) is used to indicate the joint / DL / UL TCI status corresponding to two CORESETPoolIndex values.
[0045] Note that this second alternative assumes tight coordination between the two TRPs in the mDCI mTRP application scenario, so that a single TRP maintains unified TCI status updates based on beam measurement reports from the UE for the DL beams associated with the two TRPs.
[0046] In a first option for the second alternative, a single 3-bit TCI field is used to indicate a unified TCI state pair for both TRPs. Figure 3 A diagram 300 is illustrated showing the use of a single 3-bit TCI field to indicate a unified TCI state pair for two TRPs. The gNB associates 302 two pairs of DL / UL unified TCI states, each pair of DL / UL unified TCI states for a TRP, with a single TCI code point in the DCI format.
[0047] This option is feasible assuming that the gNB appropriately configures the TCI pairs for the two TRPs (e.g., based on group-based beam reporting from the UE).
[0048] In a second option for the second alternative, two TCI fields may be included in DCI format 1_1 / 1_2. Figure 4 A diagram 400 showing the use of two TCI fields in DCI format 1_1 / 1_2 is illustrated.
[0049] In the first mode for the second option using data scheduling (in Figure 4 In the embodiment of the present invention, an additional 3-bit TCI field 402 may be newly added to the Release 17 DCI format 1_1 / 1_2 with data scheduling in the DCI format 1_1 / 1_2 with data scheduling. Then, the first 3-bit field 404 is used to indicate the TCI code point associated with the TRP with TRP ID=0, and the additional 3-bit TCI field 402 is used to indicate the TCI code point associated with the TRP with TRP ID=1.
[0050] In the second mode for the second option (in Figure 4 In the embodiment of the present invention, in the embodiment of the present invention, an additional 3-bit TCI field 406 may be created by reusing 408 the reserved field 410 of DCI 1_1 / 1_2 without data scheduling. Then, the first 3-bit field 412 is used to indicate the TCI code point associated with the TRP with TRP ID=0, and the additional 3-bit TCI field 406 is used to indicate the TCI code point associated with the TRP with TRP ID=1.
[0051] Under the second option (eg, in the first mode or the second mode of the second option), two pairs of <dl tci状态、ul tci状态>, where the first pair <dl tci状态、ul tci状态>is applied to the first TRP and the second pair is applied to the second TRP.
[0052] In a third option for the second alternative, a new field may be introduced to indicate the TRP ID to which the TCI field information in the same DCI format applies. Figure 5 A DCI format 500 is illustrated showing a TRP-ID field 502 of the DCI format indicating a TRP ID to which TCI field information 504 is applied. The TRP-ID field 502 may be any ID capable of identifying a TRP corresponding to the use of the TCI field 504 information.
[0053] In a fourth option for the second alternative, a two-step signaling method may be used. In a first step, the UE may be configured with M DL TCI state pairs to be associated with different TCI code point values through MAC-CE signaling, wherein at least one DL TCI state pair consists of one TCI state for TRP#1 and another TCI state for TRP#2. Then, in a second step, a 3-bit TCI field in the DCI format is used to select a DL TCI state pair from the M DL TCI state pairs (e.g., where M≤8) for one or two TRPs.
[0054] According to certain aspects of the present disclosure, if a CORESET or search space is explicitly configured to follow a unified joint / DL TCI state, the UE applies the indicated unified joint / DL TCI state corresponding to the CORESETPoolIndex value received on the physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) for the CORESET and associated search space set. Otherwise, for a given CORESET, a separate TCI state may be activated by a MAC-CE that is different from the indicated unified TCI state.
[0055] According to certain aspects of the present disclosure, multiple methods can be considered to determine the TCI state of PDSCH reception within the default QCL window for the mDCI mTRP application scenario. Here, a window with a duration timeDurationForQCL starting from the symbol of DL DCI is called the "default QCL window".
[0056] In a first alternative, the UE applies the same value of CORESETPoolIndex to the DL TCI state with the lowest ID of the CORESET with the monitored search space in the most recent timeslot, or applies the same value of CORESETPoolIndex to the TCI state of the search space set. In some designs, the first alternative may be applied when both of the indicated TCI states are associated with a physical cell identifier (ID) (PCI) that is different from the serving cell (in the inter-cell mTRP application scenario).
[0057] In a second alternative, the UE applies the same value of CORESETPoolIndex to the unified DLTCI state of the CORESET, or applies the same value of CORESETPoolIndex to the unified TCI state of the search space set.
[0058] In each of the first and second alternatives, the UE applies the indicated unified joint / DL TCI state corresponding to the CORESETPoolIndex value for PDSCH reception outside the default QCL window.
[0059] Figure 6 Examples are provided according to two alternatives for PDSCH reception within the default QCL window 602. Assume that DCI format 604 is detected in a PDCCH monitoring occasion associated with a CORESET configured not to follow a unified TCI state. TCI state #0 is configured for the search space of DCI format 604 or the CORESET of DCI format 604.
[0060] In addition, it is assumed that CORESETPoolIndex=1 corresponding to TRP#1 indicates unified TCI state #2.
[0061] Under the first alternative, the UE assumes that the TCI state of the CORESET in the most recent timeslot for monitoring (TCI state #0) is applied for PDSCH reception in the default QCL window 602 .
[0062] Under the second alternative, the UE assumes a unified TCI state of CORESETPoolIndex=1 that applies during the default QCL window 602 .
[0063] According to certain aspects of the present disclosure, the unified TCI state for the same value of CORESETPoolIndex may additionally be applied to the following DL / UL channel sets in the mDCI mTRP application scenario:
[0064] Aperiodic channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) resource sets triggered by DCI associated with the same value of the CORESETPoolIndex value;
[0065] The Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) scheduled by the DCI associated with the same value of the CORESETPoolIndex value;
[0066] A configured granted physical uplink shared channel (CG-PUSCH) activated by a DCI associated with the same value of the CORESETPoolIndex value;
[0067] A Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH) that carries the Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request Acknowledgement (HARQ-ACK) bits corresponding to the DCI associated with the same value of the CORESETPoolIndex value;
[0068] The set of Semi-Persistent Sounding Reference Signal (SRS) (SP-SRS) sources activated by the DCI associated with the same value of the CORESETPoolIndex value; and
[0069] Aperiodic SRS triggered by a DCI associated with the same value of the CORESETPoolIndex value
[0070] (A-SRS) Resource Set
[0071] For other signals / channels that are not explicitly associated with a CORESETPoolIndex value, multiple options may be available. In a first option, an indicator identification information element (IE) may be introduced as part of the RRC configuration to associate the signal / channel with a CORESETPoolIndex value. In a second option, the CORESETPoolIndex value of the TRP index may be provided directly for the signal / channel in order to determine a unified TCI state.

12. The method of claim 9, wherein the first MAC-CE includes a bit field corresponding to the first TCI field, the bit field having a value identifying a number of the first plurality of TCI states associated with the first TCI code point of the first TCI field.
13. The method of claim 9, further comprising receiving from the network a second DCI comprising a second TCI field having a second TCI code point value identifying one or more TCI states of the second plurality of TCI states for the UE to use to communicate with the second TRP, wherein the communication with the network using the first TRP and the second TRP occurs after receiving the second DCI.
14. The method of claim 9, wherein the first TCI code point value also identifies one or more TCI states of the second plurality of TCI states used by the UE to communicate with the second TRP.
15. The method of claim 9, wherein the first DCI further comprises a second TCI field having a second TCI code point value identifying one or more TCI states of the second plurality of TCI states used by the UE to communicate with the second TRP.
16. The method of claim 9, wherein the first DCI further comprises a bit field having a value identifying that the first TCI code point is associated with the first TRP.
17. A method of a user equipment (UE), the method comprising: receiving a medium access control control element (MAC-CE) from a network, the medium access control control element (MAC-CE) indicating a plurality of transmit configuration indication identification (TCI) states for a transmit reception point (TRP) of the network associated with a CORESET pool corresponding to a control resource set (CORESET) pool index value, wherein the MAC-CE includes a first bit corresponding to a TCI code point value, the first bit identifying a number of the plurality of TCI states identified by the TCI code point value; receiving, from the network, downlink control information (DCI) including a first TCI bit field having the TCI code point value; as well as After receiving the first DCI, use the TRP to communicate with the network.
18. The method of claim 17, wherein the MAC-CE indicates the CORESET pool index value, and the method further comprises identifying that the MAC-CE is for the TRP based on the indication of the CORESET pool index value in the MAC-CE.
19. The method of claim 17, wherein the MAC-CE is received via a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) scheduled by a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) received in a CORESET of the CORESET pool, and the method further comprises identifying that the MAC-CE is for the TRP based on receiving the PDCCH in the CORESET of the CORESET pool.
20. The method of claim 17, wherein the MAC-CE further comprises a second bit corresponding to a TCI state among the plurality of TCI states, the second bit identifying whether the TCI state is for an uplink (UL) or a downlink (DL).
21. An apparatus comprising means for performing the method according to any one of claims 1 to 20.
22. A computer-readable medium comprising instructions, wherein when one or more processors of an electronic device execute the instructions, the electronic device executes the method according to any one of claims 1 to 20.
23. An apparatus comprising logic components, modules or circuits for performing the method according to any one of claims 1 to 20.
