Load balancing based on basic service set (BSS) transition management (BTM)

By realizing the transmission and processing of BTM request frames in wireless communication devices, and selectively processing link mapping requests between AP and non-AP multi-link devices, the problem of difficult to effectively implement the load balancing mechanism in the prior art is solved, and more effective load balancing and network performance improvement is achieved.

AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

In existing wireless communication technologies, load balancing mechanisms are difficult to effectively implement, especially in link mapping negotiation between AP and non-AP multi-link devices, which may lead to mapping failure and the load balancing goal cannot be achieved.

Method used

By implementing the transmission and processing of the Basic Service Set (BSS) Transition Management (BTM) request frame in a wireless communication device, the deassociation frame of the non-AP multi-link device and the access point (AP) multi-link device is selectively sent or suppressed, and a service identifier (TID) to link mapping (T2LM) request frame is received from the network entity in response to the BTM request frame.

Benefits of technology

It realizes more effective load balancing in wireless communication networks, avoids load imbalance problems caused by mapping failure, and improves network performance and user experience.

Abstract

Aspects of BTM-based load balancing are provided. Aspects relate generally to a method of load balancing in which an AP multilink device (MLD) recommends a non-AP MLD to move to an indicated set of links of the AP MLD and operates on the indicated set of links without clearing context between the AP MLD and the non-AP MLD. In some examples, if the non-AP MLD does not conform, the non-AP MLD may face a disassociation with the AP MLD. Some aspects are more particularly directed to recommending the non-AP MLD to move to the indicated set of links of a different AP MLD, and operating on the indicated set of links of the different AP MLD after performing a multi-link setting with the different AP MLD. In some examples, the AP MLD may then be disassociated from the non-AP MLD.
