A lighting or decorative unit comprising a container or freestanding structure, a luminous or burning object, at least one separating structure or functional separation, and at least one surprise element, characterized in that the surprise element is spatially separated from the luminous or burning object, in particular below, above, laterally, within, or in a separate chamber, wherein the surprise element is at least partially concealed, protected, or inaccessible during operation of the luminous or burning object, and is only accessible or exposed after complete or partial operation of the luminous or burning object by mechanical, thermal, chemical, or other action, wherein the separation is effected either by a physical separating layer or by a functional separation without a separate layer, in particular by embedding, encapsulation, material differences, or structural arrangement.
