Description
[0001] The invention relates to a base frame for a piece of seating furniture with at least two seats, comprising two side parts for setting up the base frame on a base surface, wherein the two side parts are connected to each other in an assembly state of the base frame by means of a crossbar of the base frame in a force-transmitting manner and the crossbar is designed for attaching at least two seats arranged directly next to each other along the crossbar to form the at least two seats of the piece of seating furniture.

[0003] Due to the design of the base frame, it is possible to deliver it to the end customer disassembled and then assemble it on-site in their home. This offers the significant advantage that the disassembled base frame can be easily transported through narrow corridors and / or up narrow stairwells, for example, in apartment buildings. Furthermore, existing elevators can be used more effectively, or even made available at all, for transporting the base frame. Finally, handling the base frame is easier due to the lighter weight of the individual parts compared to the fully assembled frame. Overall, transporting the base frame is simple and therefore cost-effective.

[0006] The object of the present invention is to improve a basic frame for a piece of seating furniture.
[0007] To solve this problem, the invention, in conjunction with the preamble of claim 1, is characterized in that the respective screw connection is arranged in a recess or groove of the respective connecting plate that projects in the direction of the directly adjacent connecting plate. The terms "crossbeam" and "crossbeam segments" are used broadly within the scope of the invention. Accordingly, a multitude of conceivable and, for the respective individual case, sensible design and manufacturing embodiments are summarized under these terms.

[0009] In principle, the basic frame according to the invention can be freely selected within wide suitable limits with regard to type, function, material, and dimensions. Accordingly, a large number of different seating furniture pieces can be manufactured using the basic frame according to the invention, so that the basic frame according to the invention can be used as a basis for a wide range of requirements for seating furniture. The term "seating furniture" is to be interpreted broadly according to the invention and includes, for example, furniture that is designed for both sitting and lying down, or solely for lying down.
[0010] A particularly advantageous embodiment of the basic frame according to the invention provides that the crossbeam segments are each designed as identical parts. In this way, the structural design of the basic frame according to the invention for seating furniture is further simplified and standardized, thus significantly facilitating warehousing, manufacturing, transport, and on-site assembly. This standardization of the crossbeam segments for forming the crossbeam of the basic frame according to the invention also allows for higher production volumes, making the overall manufacture of the basic frame according to the invention more cost-effective.
[0011] A further advantageous embodiment of the basic frame according to the invention provides that the front and rear rails are each 1.5 to 3 times as long as one of the connecting plates. This allows the crossbeam segments to be manufactured in a very robust and therefore load-bearing manner, while simultaneously requiring less material. Accordingly, the manufacturing costs and weight of the basic frame according to the invention are reduced. This embodiment also has the further advantage that the depth of the respective crossbeam segment for forming the crossbeam, and thus the required depth of the basic frame according to the invention for seating furniture of typical dimensions, can be kept to a minimum. This makes the basic frame according to the invention suitable for a wide variety of different seating furniture, including seating furniture with a relatively shallow depth.The aforementioned individual components of each truss segment—namely, the front beam, the rear beam, and the two connecting plates—can each be identical parts. [0012] Another advantageous embodiment of the base frame according to the invention provides that the connecting plates each have a stiffener for increasing their rigidity. The fastening element for attaching the support foot can, for example, be an internal thread formed in the individual crossbeam segment to receive a corresponding screw bolt with an external thread located on the support foot. Of course, other connection techniques known to those skilled in the art and suitable for the specific application are also fundamentally possible for connecting the support foot to one of the crossbeam segments, so that the aforementioned fastening element can be freely selected within wide suitable limits in terms of type, function, material, and dimensions.Such additional support by means of a support leg is appropriate, for example, for seating furniture where the crossbeam of the base frame according to the invention is composed of three or more crossbeam segments, i.e., for seating furniture with three or more seats arranged side by side. Accordingly, it is advantageous to arrange the fastening element in the middle of the respective crossbeam segment, since, for example, in seating furniture with three seats, i.e., with a base frame according to the invention with three crossbeam segments, the support leg is positioned exactly in the middle between the two side panels resting on the base of the base frame according to the invention. Of course, embodiments of the base frame according to the invention are also conceivable in which more than one support leg is used. This would be advantageous, for example, in seating furniture with more than three seats.
[0014] As already explained above, the base frame according to the invention can be freely selected within wide suitable limits. For example, it can be provided that the two side parts each function merely as a support foot. In this way, the two side parts of the base frame according to the invention can be realized in a very simple and therefore cost-effective manner from a structural and manufacturing perspective. However, a preferred embodiment of this further development provides that an armrest of the seating furniture can be detachably attached to each support foot. This increases the functionality of the side parts, since the side parts can no longer serve merely to position the base frame according to the invention on the installation surface, but can also be equipped with armrests that improve the ergonomics of the seating furniture. Furthermore, the armrests could be changed or replaced on-site as desired or required.Accordingly, the side sections of the base frame according to the invention, which are designed as support feet, could each be combined with an armrest from a plurality of different armrests. Additional armrests, which would otherwise have to be attached to the seating furniture separately from the base frame according to the invention, are therefore unnecessary. Alternatively to the aforementioned embodiment and its preferred variant, it can also be provided that the two side sections each simultaneously serve as an armrest of the seating furniture. In this way, the functionality is also improved in the manner described above.At the same time, the number of individual parts of the basic frame according to the invention is further reduced by this embodiment, so that the advantages already mentioned above regarding warehousing, manufacturing, transport, and on-site assembly at the end customer's location also apply here. Of course, embodiments of the basic frame according to the invention are also possible in which only a single side panel is simultaneously designed as an armrest or is equipped with an armrest during the manufacture of the seating furniture.

Claims
1. Base frame (2) for a piece of seating furniture (4) having at least two seats (6, 8; 6, 8, 9), comprising two side parts (10, 12) for setting up the base frame (2) on a set-up area (14), wherein, in a mounted state of the base frame (2), the two side parts (10, 12) are connected to one another in a force-transmitting manner by means of a crossmember (16) of the base frame (2) and the crossmember (16) is formed for fastening at least two seats (18, 20) arranged directly next to one another along the crossmember (16) for forming the at least two seats (6, 8; 6, 8, 9) of the piece of seating furniture (4), and wherein, for each seat (18, 20), the crossmember (16) has a crossmember segment (22, 24; 22, 24, 25) for forming the crossmember (16) in the mounted state of the base frame (2), and, in the mounted state of the base frame (2), crossmember segments (22, 24; 22, 24 and 24, 25) arranged directly next to one another are detachably connected to one another, specifically in such a way that the crossmember segments (22, 24; 22, 24 and 24, 25) arranged directly next to one another in the mounted position of the base frame (2) are connected to one another in a force-transmitting manner by means of screw connections (36), wherein the crossmember segments (22, 24; 22, 24, 25) are each formed as a rectangular supporting frame and the supporting frames each have a hollow front rail (26) and a hollow rear rail (32) connected to the front rail (26) in a force-transmitting manner by means of two lateral connecting plates (28, 30), and wherein the connecting plates (28, 30), which are arranged directly next to one another, of these crossmember segments (22, 24; 22, 24 and 24, 25) are connected to one another in a force-transmitting manner by means of screw connections (36), characterized in that the respective screw connection (36) is arranged in an embossment or bead of the respective connecting plate (28, 30), which embossment or bead is projecting in the direction of the directly adjacent connecting plate (28, 30).

3. Base frame (2) according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the front rail (26) and the rear rail (32) are each at least 1.5 times as long as one of the connecting plates (28, 30).

Base frame (2) according to any of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the connecting plates (28, 30) each have a stiffener (34) for stiffening the respective connecting plate (28, 30), preferably in that the stiffener (34) is formed as a stiffener shaped from the respective connecting plate (28, 30), particularly preferably in that the stiffener (34) is formed as an embossment or bead of the connecting plate (28, 30), which embossment or bead is shaped outwards in the mounted state of the base frame (2).

Base frame (2) according to any of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the supporting frame (22, 24; 22, 24, 25) is formed from individual parts welded to one another, preferably in that the supporting frame (22, 24; 22, 24, 25) is formed from a total of four individual parts welded to one another.
6. Base frame (2) according to claim 4 or 5, characterized in that the aforementioned embossment or bead for arranging the respective screw connection is formed as part of the stiffener (34) of the respective connecting plate (28, 30).

Base frame (2) according to any of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the rear rails (32), which are arranged directly next to one another, of the crossmember segments (22, 24; 24, 25) are connected to one another in a force-transmitting manner by means of screw connections (38), preferably in that these rear rails (32) are screwed to one another by means of a screw plate (40) overlapping these two rear rails (32).

Base frame (2) according to any of claims 1 to 8, characterized in that the two side parts (10, 12) are each formed merely as a set-up foot, preferably in that an armrest of the seating furniture (4) is detachably fastened to the respective set-up foot, or in that the two side parts (10, 12) are each formed at the same time as an armrest of the seating furniture (4).
