Description

[0001] The invention relates to a mobile protective wall for the temporary shielding of areas with increased security requirements, with A base device comprising a base section and a connection section, and a protective wall segment detachably arranged on the connection section, comprising a protective plate with at least impact resistance, a support structure with a connecting section corresponding to the connection section located in the area of the upper edge of the protective plate and a coupling section designed for detachable arrangement on the connection section located in the area of the lower edge of the protective plate, and a connecting module attached to the support structure and the protective plate for fixing the protective plate to the support structure. Such a protective wall is known, for example, from GB2187268A.

[0002] For the temporary creation of a barrier, it is already known to combine individual mobile barriers to form a temporary barrier, whereby the mobile barriers, known in various configurations from the prior art, are generally arranged side by side. These mobile barriers are used, for example, to cordon off specific areas at time-limited events such as trade fairs, concerts, receptions, political events, conferences, or the like, areas that are intended to be accessible only to a select group of people. Among those moving within these areas are public figures, such as high-ranking politicians who are exposed to an increased threat of attacks.Such attacks can be carried out using ballistic means such as explosives or firearms, and the attacker may be located outside the restricted area.

[0003] To protect those at risk during the event, it is necessary to shield them with mobile barriers to protect them from attackers outside the designated area. These mobile barriers must be highly flexible in their setup, allowing for the creation of clearly defined areas according to the organizers' wishes, while also providing sufficient protection.

[0004] Known mobile barriers of the type mentioned above typically feature a base that can be set up on the ground and allows for the arrangement of one or more barrier segments, each equipped with impact-resistant protective plates. The multi-section design of the mobile barrier facilitates easy handling and assembly, preferably by a single person. Using multiple mobile barriers allows for the creation of a continuous barrier. For this purpose, the individual barriers are positioned adjacent to one another to provide continuous protection along the entire length of the barrier.

[0005] However, existing barriers have the disadvantage that, due to their required mobility and ease of handling, the resistance class of a barrier constructed from these mobile barriers is limited by their weight. To achieve a higher resistance class for a barrier constructed from these mobile barriers, it would be necessary to equip barrier segments with protective plates, which would increase their overall weight. This, however, would make it more difficult and flexibly difficult to set up and assemble the barriers, especially by a single person. This is primarily due to the weight of the individual barrier segments, which would then be too much for a single person to handle.

[0006] Based on this, the invention aims to provide a mobile protective wall with protective wall segments which have a high resistance class despite a low weight.

[0007] The invention solves the problem by means of a mobile protective wall with the features of claim 1. Advantageous further developments of the invention are specified in the dependent claims.

[0008] A characteristic feature of the mobile protective wall according to the invention is that the connecting module for attaching the protective plate to the supporting structure has an energy-absorbing deformation area.

[0009] According to the invention, the mobile protective barrier comprises a base that can be erected on a surface and at least one protective barrier segment arranged on the base. To form a flexible barrier from several mobile protective barriers, these are set up side by side. To prevent the passage of fragments or projectiles, the protective barrier segments have protective plates that have a protective-inhibiting effect. In the context of the invention, "protective-inhibiting" refers to a configuration that prevents the passage of certain ballistic projectiles. The protective effect of the barrier created using several mobile protective barriers results from the protection level of the protective barrier elements. The protection level can be characterized, for example, by designating a corresponding, standardized ballistic class.

[0010] The inventive design of the connecting module, which is attached to the protective plate with a first connection section and to the supporting structure with a second connection section, makes it possible, in contrast to protective plates rigidly arranged on the supporting structure, to dissipate the kinetic impact energy of, for example, projectiles or fragments of a grenade explosion impacting the protective plate by deforming the deformation area of the connecting module between the protective plate and the supporting structure, thereby reducing the impact energy of the projectiles or fragments available for penetrating the protective plate.

[0011] The energy-absorbing deformation zone of the connecting module, when using matching protective plates, increases the resistance of the barrier segment compared to barrier segments where the protective plates are rigidly attached to the supporting structure. Arranging the protective plate on the supporting structure via the connecting module, which features an energy-absorbing deformation zone, thus makes it possible to increase the protection class of the barrier segment, and consequently the protection class of mobile barriers manufactured using such segments, while using consistent protective plates and therefore maintaining the same weight of the barrier segment.

[0012] The arrangement of the protective plate relative to the supporting structure is generally freely selectable, provided that, for example, when a projectile or grenade-propelled fragment strikes the protective plate, the impact energy can be dissipated via the energy-absorbing deformation zone of the connecting module. In principle, an arrangement of the protective plate on the supporting structure is also conceivable, in which it rests against the supporting structure, but the impact energy leads to a deformation of the deformation zone. However, according to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, the connecting module is designed such that the protective plate is attached to the supporting structure at a distance from it.

[0013] According to this embodiment of the invention, the protective plate is attached to the support structure via the connecting module, with the protective plate positioned at a distance from a surface of the support structure. This embodiment of the invention ensures, with particular reliability, that the impact energy applied to the protective plate is dissipated by a displacement of the protective plate relative to the support structure resulting from deformation of the deformation zone. A spaced arrangement of the protective plate via the connecting module thus further improves the energy-absorbing properties of the protective wall segment.

[0014] The design of the deformation zone of the connection module is generally freely selectable. For example, the connection module can be multi-part, with the deformation zone located between the first connection section and the second connection section being formed by a component connected to both connection sections, which has the appropriate properties to form an energy-absorbing deformation zone.

[0015] However, according to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, the deformation zone is formed integrally with the connecting module. In this embodiment, the deformation zone is formed by a corresponding area of the connecting module located between the first and second connection sections. This integral design ensures a particularly reliable arrangement of the protective plate on the supporting structure. Furthermore, the connecting module can be manufactured particularly easily and cost-effectively in this integral form, and the design of the area between the two connection sections for forming an energy-absorbing deformation zone can, in principle, be freely chosen.

[0016] In principle, purely elastic means can be used to form the deformation zone, whereby energy absorption is achieved via elastic deformation. However, according to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, the deformation zone is designed to be plastically deformable.

[0017] According to this embodiment of the invention, the deformation zone resulting from a force acting on the protective plate, after exceeding an elastic deformation threshold, offers the possibility of further dissipating the impact energy through plastic deformation. This possibility of plastic deformation improves the energy-absorbing properties of the deformation zone, thus additionally enabling the formation of protective wall segments with higher resistance classes using protective plates that are generally assigned to a lower resistance class.

[0018] The design of the deformation zone in the case of its one-piece formation with the connecting module is, in principle, freely selectable. However, according to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, the deformation zone is formed by a multiply angled course of the connecting module in the area between the first connection section attached to the protective plate and the second connection section attached to the supporting structure.

[0019] According to this further development of the invention, the connecting module is formed, for example, from a steel band having a rectangular cross-section, which is attached to the protective plate at the first connection section and to the supporting structure at the second connection section. By repeatedly bending the steel band in the area between the first and second connection sections, an energy-absorbing deformation zone suitable for plastic deformation is formed, the bends being directed around axes parallel to the protective plate. Within this deformation zone, the impact energy, for example from a projectile or fragment, applied to the protective plate is at least partially absorbed by elastic and plastic deformation.

[0020] According to a further embodiment of the invention, the base device also has two connection sections for the spaced-apart arrangement of two protective wall segments with protective plates running substantially parallel to each other. According to this embodiment of the invention, the base device has at least one second connection section which makes it possible to arrange two protective wall segments one behind the other, i.e., in a position in which the protective plates run substantially parallel to each other.

[0021] While maintaining the low weight of the individual barrier segments, the protection class of the barrier formed by the mobile barrier can thus be further increased. Projectiles or fragments striking the front of the first, front protective plate are slowed down by deformation of the deformation zone of the first front barrier segment, as described above. Should the remaining impact energy nevertheless lead to penetration through the protective plate of the first barrier segment, the second barrier segment located behind the first serves as a further barrier, whereby the remaining energy is dissipated, if necessary, in a similar manner by deformation of the deformation zone as well as by the material-specific protective barrier of the protective plate.

[0022] Overall, this embodiment of the invention, combined with the retention of manageable protective wall segments, allows for the creation of a mobile protective wall offering a particularly high level of protection. In particular, maintaining the weight of the protective wall segments enables the mobile protective wall to be erected in a known manner by a single, qualified person, thus preserving the flexibility of the mobile protective wall while increasing its level of protection.

[0023] The design of the support structure for arranging the protective wall segment over the connecting module is generally freely selectable. However, according to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, the support structure comprises two frame profiles arranged at a distance from each other, each extending from a region of the lower edge to a region of the upper edge of the protective plate.

[0024] The use of a frame profile, for example a closed rectangular hollow profile, allows the supporting structure to be manufactured particularly simply and cost-effectively with a connecting section and a coupling section. For example, when using a hollow rectangular profile, connecting pins can be arranged on the upper side of the barrier segments in the frame profiles to form the coupling section, with the connection section of the base device being designed with corresponding pins. This embodiment of the invention is thus characterized by the fact that it represents a particularly simple and reliable way of forming a mobile barrier from several barrier segments. Particularly advantageously, the frame profiles can be designed to be at least barrier-resistant, which eliminates the need for additional components to improve barrier resistance.

[0025] According to a further embodiment of the invention, it is provided that in the side areas of the protective wall segment, protective splash guard elements projecting laterally beyond the supporting structure are arranged at a distance from the protective plate and in the direction of its side edges.

[0026] According to this embodiment of the invention, the support structure also serves to accommodate splash guard elements. These are attached to the support structure at a distance from the rear side of the protective plate facing the support structure, such that they project beyond the support structure towards the side areas of the protective wall segment. The splash guard element arranged on the support structure creates an area on the rear side of the protective wall segment in the respective side area, which, if necessary, catches projectiles or fragments penetrating between two adjacent protective plates of two side-by-side protective walls and, due to its splash guard properties, prevents them from passing into the safety zone extending behind the protective walls. The supporting structure, in particular the advantageously provided protective frame profiles and the splash guard element, together with the supporting structure and the splash guard element of an adjacent mobile protective wall, form a reliable splinter and projectile trap, which prevents splinters or projectiles that may penetrate between the protective plates during a lateral attack from entering the safety area behind the barrier.

[0027] A mobile protective barrier further developed according to this embodiment of the invention thus enables the formation of a particularly reliable barrier, in which even with the protective barriers arranged side by side, as is necessary for a barrier, the passage of projectiles or fragments into the safety area is reliably prevented. The supporting structure in conjunction with the splash guard element allows for flexible alignment of the individual protective barriers with respect to each other, so that a flexibly shaped barrier can be formed overall.

[0028] For the lateral protective effect, according to the aforementioned embodiment of the invention, it is essential that the splash guard element projects laterally towards the side edge of the protective plate at a distance from the rear side of the protective plate in the side region of the protective wall segment, so that, together with an adjacent protective wall, a reliable lateral splinter and projectile barrier is formed. The splash guard element advantageously extends in a straight line parallel to the protective plate, thereby reliably preventing the penetration of splinters or projectiles in combination with other mobile protective walls.

[0029] The design of the splash guard element and its arrangement on the barrier segment are generally freely selectable and usually depend on the overlap length of the protective panels when combining mobile barriers to form a barrier. According to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, the splash guard element is arranged at a distance of 3 cm to 20 cm, preferably 5 cm to 17 cm, and most preferably 8 cm to 13 cm from the rear of the protective panel on the supporting structure. Such an arrangement of the splash guard element is characterized by the fact that an effective splinter and projectile trap is formed between adjacent mobile barriers, which is delimited by the rear of the protective panel, the splash guard element, and the supporting structure.

[0030] The length of the splash guard element is also generally freely selectable, whereby according to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the splash guard element has a length of 20 mm to 100 mm, preferably 30 mm to 80 mm, particularly preferably 40 mm to 60 mm and is arranged in an area that extends over a length of 30 mm to 200 mm, preferably 45 mm to 180 mm, particularly preferably 60 mm to 160 mm from the supporting structure in the direction of the adjacent side edge of the protective plate.

[0031] The design of the protective plate, in particular its shape, is generally freely selectable, with its simplest embodiment being a flat, straight plate. However, a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that the protective plate has a curved profile in the side areas of the barrier segment, specifically a curve towards the rear side which is provided with the support structure. The use of a protective plate curved or inclined in the side areas further increases the protection of the side areas against penetrating splinters or projectiles. Furthermore, an inclined or curved design of the protective plate in the side areas allows for particularly flexible construction of a barrier using several mobile barriers. The curved profile according to this further development of the invention can, in principle, be shaped as desired. For example, the protective plate can also have a circular segment shape in the side areas, resulting in a particularly reliable arrangement on an adjacent mobile protective wall at different angular positions relative to each other.

[0032] In its simplest embodiment, the mobile protective barrier comprises a base and a protective barrier segment arranged on the base. According to an advantageous further development of the invention, however, the protective barrier segment is designed for detachable attachment to another protective barrier segment in an operating position such that, in the operating position, the protective panels are arranged to overlap section by section. According to this embodiment of the invention, the mobile protective barrier is formed from at least two protective barrier segments which – with respect to the operating position – are arranged one above the other in the operating position. To ensure sufficient protection against projectiles and splinters in the contact area of two protective wall segments, these segments are designed so that the protective plates overlap in the operating position where the at least two protective wall segments are arranged next to each other, thus reliably preventing the passage of projectiles and splinters in the overlap area. The design of the overlap area of the protective plates of the superimposed protective wall segments is, in principle, freely selectable.

[0033] For stacking multiple protective wall segments, the supporting structure has a connecting section on the top of each segment that corresponds to the connection section of the base device, and a coupling section on the underside of each segment that is suitable for connecting to the connection section of the base device or to a connecting section of another protective wall segment. Thus, the supporting structure allows the protective wall segment to be connected to the connection section of the base device or to a connecting section of another protective wall segment. The connecting section is designed in accordance with the connection section, so that a coupling section opposite the connecting section, which is also designed for connection to the connection section, can likewise be used to connect to a connecting section of another protective wall segment.

[0034] In a further embodiment, the protective wall segment features a splash guard strip covering the connecting module. This splash guard strip extends over the area between the two connection sections, thus protecting the connecting module, including its deformation zones, from damage caused by fragments and projectiles entering the rear of the mobile protective wall, thereby ensuring stability even in this scenario.

[0035] Exemplary embodiments of the invention are explained below with reference to the drawings. The drawings show: Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of a partial area of a first embodiment of a protective wall segment of a mobile protective wall; Fig. 2 shows a top view of the protective wall segment of Fig. 1; Fig. 3 shows a perspective view of a partial area of a second embodiment of a protective wall segment of a mobile protective wall; Fig. 4 shows a top view of the protective wall segment of Fig. 3 Fig. 5: A top view of a mobile barrier with two rows of barrier segments arranged one behind the other; Fig. 6a: A perspective view of the mobile barrier of Fig. 5 ; Fig. 6 further perspective view of the mobile protective wall of Fig. 5 and 6a Fig. 7 a top view of a barrier made of three mobile protective walls; Fig. 8 a perspective view of the barrier made of three mobile protective walls of Fig. 7 and Fig. 9 a perspective view of one of several in the Fig. 5 , 6a and 6b The barriers depicted are made of protective walls.

[0036] In Fig. 1A perspective view shows a first embodiment of a protective wall segment 3a for forming a protective wall 1. The protective wall segment 3a has a supporting structure, which consists of two parallel frame profiles 13 oriented essentially perpendicular to a substrate in the operating position and which serve to mount a protective shield 4. A connecting module 6 serves to mount the protective shield 4 to the frame profiles 13. This connecting module 6 is attached to the rear side of the protective shield 4 by means of a first connecting section 8 and to the opposing inner surfaces of the frame profiles 13 by means of two second connecting sections 14. Weld studs 17 are used to fix the first connecting section 8 to the rear side of the protective shield 4, by means of which the connecting module 7 is fixed to the protective shield 4 in the area of its first connecting section 8.The second connection sections 14 of the connection module 7 are fixed to the frame profiles 13 by means of suitable fastening rivets, which are not shown here.

[0037] In an area between the first connection section 8 and the second connection section 14, the connecting module 7 has a deformation zone 15, which is formed by a multiply angled profile of the connecting module 7, which is made from a flat steel sheet. The back of the protective plate 4 extends over the angled profile of the deformation zone 15 at a distance from the frame profiles 13 (see figure). Fig. 2 ). In the event of an impact of splinters or projectiles on the front of the protective plate 4, the impact energy can be reduced by a deformation of the deformation area 15 of the connection module 7, whereby the deformation can be elastic and, if necessary, also plastic depending on the impact energy.

[0038] On the side of the frame profiles 13 opposite the protective plate 4, a splash guard element 5 is arranged, extending from an upper edge 10 of the protective plate 4 to the underside of the protective plate 4. The splash guard element 5 projects beyond the frame profiles 13 both in the direction of the opposite side edges 6 of the protective wall segment 3a and in the direction of the oppositely arranged frame profiles 13.

[0039] The splash guard element 5, the frame profile 13 and the protective plate 4 enable several mobile protective walls 1 to be arranged side by side in such a way that, in the case of overlapping protective plates 4, a splinter and projectile trap is formed in the contact area of the mobile protective walls 1 at the rear, which also prevents projectiles or splinters from entering the safety area demarcated by the mobile protective walls 1 in the event of their passage through the contact area of two mobile protective walls 1.

[0040] In the Figs. 3 and 4 A second embodiment of a protective wall segment 3b is shown, which differs from the one in the Figs. 1 and 2The depicted protective wall segment 3a differs in that the connecting module 7 is covered on the rear side by a splash guard strip 11, which is attached to the connecting module 7 via the weld studs 17. The splash guard strip 11 extends between the opposing deformation areas 15 of the connecting module 7, which are thus protected by the splash guard strip 11 from projectiles or fragments that enter the rear area of the mobile protective wall 1.

[0041] To connect the guard wall segments 3a, 3b to a connecting section 26 of a base device 2, which rests on a substrate via a base section 12, the frame profile 13 is hollow to form a coupling section 11 and is adapted to the corresponding connecting section 16 of the base device 2. After the guard wall segment 3 is placed onto the connecting section 16 of the base device 2 via the coupling section 11, a connecting section on the top of the guard wall segment 3, formed by a guide pin 9 inserted into the frame profile 13, allows for the arrangement of further guard wall segments 3a, 3b one above the other. The connecting section is designed by the use of the guide pin 9 in the frame profile 13 in accordance with the connection section 16 of the base device 2, so that the guide pins can be inserted into the coupling section 11 on the underside of the protective wall segments 3a,3b.

[0042] To secure the position of the protective wall segments 3a,3b on the base device 2 and on each other, they have a tensioning bracket 21 on the underside of the protective wall segments 3, which can be adjusted by a lever 22 and engaged with tensioning hooks 20 in the area of the tops of the protective wall segments 3a,3b.

[0043] In the Fig. 5 , 6a and 6bA mobile protective barrier 1 is shown from different perspectives. It has two rows of protective barrier segments 3b arranged one behind the other on a base device 2. For the arrangement of two protective barrier segments 3b in succession, the base device 2 has connecting sections 16 arranged one behind the other on the base section 12, onto which the protective barrier elements 3b can be attached.

[0044] A possible setup of a flat barrier, formed from the protective wall elements 1, is shown in the Fig. 7 and 8The protective wall elements 1 each have two protective wall elements 3b arranged one behind the other, with the protective walls 1 being arranged adjacent to each other in such a way that a continuous shield is formed. The adjacent arrangement of the protective wall elements 1 is such that the protective plates 4 are arranged overlapping in such a way that a splinter and projectile trap is formed in the rear connection area consisting of the protective plate 4, frame profile 13 and splash guard element 5, which prevents projectiles or splinters penetrating laterally from entering a safety area behind it.

[0045] A further embodiment of a protective wall 1 with two rows of three protective wall elements 3b arranged one above the other is shown in Fig. 9 depicted. Reference symbol list
