A surgical stapling and severing instrument particularly suited to endoscopic procedures incorporates a handle that produces separate closing and firing motions to actuate an end effector. In particular, the handle produces multiple firing strokes in order to reduce the required amount of force required to fire (i.e., staple and sever) the end effector. A linked transmission reduces the required handle longitudinal length, yet achieves a rigid, strong configuration when straightened for firing. A traction biased firing mechanism avoids binding in driving this straightened linked rack in cooperation with an anti-backup mechanism, with a lockout mechanism that prevents releasing the closure trigger during firing. Furthermore, an external indicator gives feedback to the surgeon as to how far firing has progressed, as well as providing a manual retraction capability.

A head mounted support system for a head mounted apparatus. The apparatus includes a monocular display with a wireless communications interface, a user input device, a transmitter, receiver and a controller. The controller is configured to control the transmitter for sending and receiving control signals to and from an external device via the wireless interface. The monocular display is positioned relative to the user's dominant eye to display images to the user while occluding less than half of the user's maximum viewing space, while enabling the user to send and receive audible information or music. The head mounted support system may include an ear loop, and a housing for storing one or more functional components of the apparatus.

The invention is a water resistant case for carrying a variety of devices, particularly portable electronic devices, such as portable music players. The case is allows a user to protect a valuable device from damage by water, abrasion and or impact, yet provides for full use of the features of an individual device while the device is protected by the case. The case is embodied as a water resistant or waterproof bag, or pouch with a window, an interior compartment, an exterior and sealable closures for sealing the storage compartment from the outside environment. The case typically provides a tactile sensitive window for viewing a screen and manipulating the controls of a device. In addition a capability is provided for input and output from the device, such as output to stereo headphones. Other accessory components allow securing the case to a person or vehicle. Thus, there is great flexibility in adaptation of components and adapting the case to particular applications.

A system and apparatus for charging an electronic device using solar energy are disclosed. In one form, a portable storage apparatus operable to charge a battery associated with an electronic device is disclosed. The apparatus includes a first material configured to provide a storage space for storing articles. The storage space includes an interior portion and an exterior portion. The apparatus further includes a first flexible solar panel coupled to an exterior portion of the portable storage apparatus and integrated as a part of the first material. A second positional solar panel is also provided and coupled to an interior portion of the portable storage apparatus. The apparatus further includes a universal 12-volt charge port coupled to the first and second solar panels and operable to receive a charge conductor for charging the electronic device.

The convertible tote bag of the present invention comprises a container of any width, depth and length that can be either closed or open at the top, with or without exterior or interior pockets, with two carrying straps of adjustable size that are permanently attached on one end on opposite sides of the bag diagonally across from each other. The convertible tote bag can be carried in the hand or on the shoulder when the end of each strap that is not permanently attached to the bag is selectively attached to the attachment mechanism on the same side of the bag. In this invention there are two ways for the convertible tote bag to be worn as a backpack. One way to wear the convertible tote bag as a backpack is to thread the ends of each strap that are not permanently attached to the bag through the rings or apertures attached to the top of the opposite bag wall and extend the straps down the back wall to selectively attach to the attachment mechanisms permanently affixed on the lower part of the back wall of the bag. A second way to wear the convertible tote bag as a backpack is to selectively attach the end of each strap that is not permanently attached to the bag to the attachment mechanism on the opposite side of the bag.

A combination container for transporting articles which can concurrently be used as a ballistic shield from high speed projectiles such as bullets and/or shrapnel. The container, which can be a backpack, purse, computer carrying case, or similar bag style device, features a forward wall and a rear wall each having forming a compartment therebetween and at least one ballistic shield, attachable to one or both of the forward wall and said rear wall. Upper flaps and lower flaps attached to the bag afford deployable additional protection from attached ballistic shields. The present invention provides a strap device capable of, when used in a state of being attached to an electronic apparatus body including a display portion and a key input portion as an object, improving the visibility of the display portion and the operability of the key input portion and the touch panel without tilting the electronic apparatus body with the wrist. A strap device includes a substantially plate-shaped belt base to be attached to the object; and a strap belt formed in an annular shape and supported by a substantially center portion of the belt base rotatably within a plane substantially parallel to the belt base. The belt base includes a back part provided with a pivot fitting as a bearing member for supporting the strap belt rotatably and a front part facing the back part. The strap belt extends across the belt base from the front part to the back part of the belt base.

The present invention is a bag with easy access for cleaning and aerating comprising: a main body defining the bag; a primary opening on the top side that is selectively closed having a first fastening mechanism for providing access to an interior compartment within the main body; a secondary opening covered by a flap on at least one side that is selectively closed having a second fastening mechanism for providing access to the interior compartment for cleaning by removing any collected dust and debris from the interior compartment; and a flexible interlocking grid portion with a plurality of apertures positioned immediately beneath the flap and attached on the periphery of at least one side for removing the collected dust and debris through the plurality of apertures while shaking the bag after opening the flap.

A cooler is provided which has various improvements. The cooler may be a passive cooler or may be actively cooled for providing desirable cooling effects. The cooler may include an accessory system, for example, with bottle or can holders or a post holder which utilizes the weight of the cooler to support a sunshade. Load bearing sensors may be utilized to determine the torque generated by the load and communicate with a controller to control power to the torque generators.

A soft sided insulated container assembly includes a first portion having an insulated, soft sided external wall structure, and a second portion that defined a lid co-operable with the first portion. The lid includes an auxiliary access opening and closure member that are smaller than the main opening, and that can be operated one-handed. A rigid work surface is provided, typically immediately adjacent to the secondary closure member, the work surface providing a place for holding or mixing a drink or for preparing a snack. In some embodiments the work surface may be movable relative to the container, whether slidable in a co-planar or parallel planar manner in translation, or folding as in a foldable shelf. A hands-free personal hydration delivery system has a tubing assembly that has one end that detachably connects to a feed tube for a container of fluid worn on the back or torso of a user. The other end of the tubing assembly is coupled to a bite valve which is opened when manipulated by the user's mouth to allow fluid to be drawn by suction applied by the user, and is closed when not being manipulated so as to cut off fluid flow in an air-tight condition. An intermediate portion of the tubing assembly is mounted on the user's head or to the user's headgear at a position of higher elevation than the user's mouth. This allows fluid to be drawn to the elevated position and flow downward from there to the user's mouth by gravity feed. The fluid flow can then continue with little suction effort due to the gravity feed and siphoning effect of fluid from the container. The tubing can be mounted using retainer loops or other type of fasteners attached to a helmet, sports cap, head band bracket, headphone bracket, headband, or an earpiece worn by the user. The hydration delivery system is especially useful for bicycling, canoeing, mountain biking, kayaking, canoe paddling, and rowing environments.

Insulated bags having at least three unitary layers of durable material are provided. In one embodiment, a first set of unitary layers of durable material forms a front wall, a bottom wall, and a rear wall. Two additional sets of unitary layers of durable material form side-walls. Edges of the two additional sets are joined to side and bottom edges of the first set by adding webbing and stitching together the joined edges and webbing. Disposed within the two inner most layers of the first set and the two additional sets is at least one layer of insulation. The first set and the second set are sealed at their top edge to secure the insulation. Horizontal webbing is attached to the bag via stitching through the horizontal webbing, each of the layers of the first set and the second set, and the at least one layer of insulation. Vertical straps are integrated into the bag between the horizontal webbing and the outer most layer of durable material of the first set. On the top of the bag is a mini-flap. Hook/loop fasteners are strategically positioned on the bag to secure access points on the bag. Optional features can be incorporated into the bag (e.g., side handles, a top handle, a durable bottom, a grommet, and a liner). Other embodiments of insulated bags are described herein (e.g., a bag that has the outer layer of the first set and the second set sandwiched between two layers of horizontal webbing).

A portable thermally insulated beverage carrier having an adjustable neck strap with a cooling gel neck pouch, an external zippered pouch, and a collapsible base. The beverage carrier is made of a flexible insulating material such as neoprene. Other variations include a rigid base with an inset bottle opener, and a zippered base containing a detachable floating pedestal. Indicia can be placed on the beverage carrier to enhance its appearance.

An insulated container, such as a cooler or ice chest, with a hardside interior and a softside exterior is disclosed that has the benefits of softside coolers, such as the ability to include pockets and pouches, as well as the benefits of hardside coolers (e.g. protection to the contents inside and rigid attachment of wheels, handles, etc.) The softside exterior may be directly connected to the hardside interior, for example by sewing. The cooler may have a lid hingedly attached to the liner, and the lid may be hard plastic including a softside exterior on the top of the lid.
