2344 results about "Level sensor" patented technology

Level sensors detect the level of liquids and other fluids and fluidized solids, including slurries, granular materials, and powders that exhibit an upper free surface. Substances that flow become essentially horizontal in their containers (or other physical boundaries) because of gravity whereas most bulk solids pile at an angle of repose to a peak. The substance to be measured can be inside a container or can be in its natural form (e.g., a river or a lake). The level measurement can be either continuous or point values. Continuous level sensors measure level within a specified range and determine the exact amount of substance in a certain place, while point-level sensors only indicate whether the substance is above or below the sensing point. Generally the latter detect levels that are excessively high or low.

Wearable Sensor Device and System

A system for determining the level of an analyte in a physiological fluid of a live individual is described. A wearable sensor periodically obtains data representative of the level of the analyte and has a passive RFID tag that stores the data. A receiver wirelessly interrogates the sensor with an RF interrogation signal. The RFID tag modulates or otherwise modifies the wireless interrogation signal using the data and the receiver receives back the modulated or otherwise modified interrogation signal and extracts the data from it. The receiver then determines, from the data, the level of the analyte in the fluid. The sensor may be a photometric or colorimetric sensor or an electrochemical sensor. The receiver may be, or be incorporated into, a hand-held device, a portable device, a PDA, a mobile telephone, or a laptop computer. The resulting system is more versatile and consumes less power than conventional systems.

Compensated capacitive liquid level sensor

A fringing-field capacitive liquid level sensor comprising an electrically insulating substrate, having a first and a second pattern of conductive capacitance plates plated on the substrate. Each pattern constitutes a fringing-field capacitor having a capacitance the value of which is both dependent on the liquid level and dependent on the dielectric constant of the liquid. The ratio of the two capacitances, however, is proportional to the liquid level and independent of the dielectric constant of the liquid. The fringing-field capacitive liquid level sensor may be used for measurement of liquids of substantially any dielectric constant without requiring full-scale calibration or knowledge of, and calibration for, dielectric constant of the liquid to be measured. Compensation for tilt angle can be provided through the addition of a second level sensor.

Context-sensitive navigational aid

A navigational aid including an intelligent display mode and a communication system communicates with a vehicle's sensor system and / or historical- or time-based information to reduce the number of businesses that are displayed on the map by filtering out unneeded or less preferred services. When the vehicle's fuel level sensor detects that the fuel tank is almost empty, a message can be sent from the sensor system to the navigational aid such that the navigational aid can then begin showing a visual indication (e.g., text or graphical information such as an icon) of the location of fuel stations on the screen. Additionally, the location receiver indicates to the filter when the navigational aid is close to the programmed destination. At that point, the filter can be informed that it should start showing garages or areas where the vehicle can be parked without having cluttered the screen with parking garages that were not close to the destination. Similarly, when in need of other services (e.g., hotel or restaurant services), the navigational aid can display preferred brands (while omitting non-preferred brands) and make reservations when a communication system is included which is capable of communicating with the service provider. Additionally, prices or relative prices for the services may also be indicated.

The system also may automatically level the vehicle relative to the ground for the operator. In one embodiment, the leveling system communicates with an existing vehicle electronic height control system. The leveling system overrides or controls the normal operation of this system, and uses it to level the vehicle, for example, by adjusting the vehicle suspension.

Microphone position and speech level sensor

Improper microphone position and speech level on a telephone headset is sensed by comparison of a speech envelope to multiple signal threshold levels. A first threshold is used to determine whether a headset user is talking. A second threshold is used to determine whether a signal level at the microphone is sufficiently strong for proper communication. An indicator is activated when the user is talking and the signal level is too weak. Typically, a weak signal is caused by a mispositioned microphone or a user talking too softly.

Systems and Methods for Wireless Transmission of Biopotentials

The invention relates to wireless biotelemetry of low level bioelectric and biosensor signals by means of directly modulating the backscatter of a resonant circuit. Low level electrical analog or digital signals are directly applied to a resonant circuit containing a voltage-variable capacitor such as a varactor diode, that proportionally shifts the resonant frequency and so amplitude of radiofrequency backscatter in a way that represents analog bioelectric or biosensor waveform data. By strongly driving the resonant circuit with a radiofrequency source, a voltage variable capacitance can be caused to amplify the bio-signal level by a parametric process and so provide sufficient sensitivity to telemeter for low millivolt and microvolt level signals without additional amplification. A feature of the device is its simplicity and that it accomplishes both modulation and preamplification of low level sensor signals by the same variable capacitance circuit which reduces the device size and power consumption.

A generator produces variable output of hydrogen and oxygen from electrolysis of water as a fuel supplement for combustion of hydrocarbon fuel. The generator includes an electrolytic reactor having a sealed cathode chamber partially filled with an electrolyte solution, and an anode immersed within the solution and electrically isolated from the chamber. A level sensor and reservoir maintain solution levels in one or more reactors configured in electrolyte communication. A source of electrical power energizes reactors responsive to changing combustion demand. A cooling system cools the reactors to allow the generator to operate at high amperage. An optional controller shifts reactor duty cycles to equalize reactor service over time. Gases produced in reactor air space above solution level are drawn or pumped to a combustion chamber to combine with hydrocarbon fuel and air. The combination results in greater combustion efficiency and reduces harmful emissions.
