A method for efficiently utilizing radio resources by reducing a size of a PDU of an RLC layer in a mobile communication system supporting a VoIP service. In the method, an RLC PDU is framed without inserting information regarding a start point and an end point of a voice packet, or existence or absence of padding, such that a size of overhead according to transmission of the voice packet can be reduced. Consequently, restricted radio resources can be efficiently used.

A resealable vial featuring a connector assembly having a membrane and a pusher for selectively opening or sealing the fluid passageway between the bottle and the connector end of a luer hub. The connector assembly includes a body disposed on said bottle, and means for communicating fluid such as a luer connector hub which may be separately provided with the body or formed integrally therewith. The luer connector hub features a connector end open for access by medical delivery instrument, and an opposed end which is disposed for fluid communication with a recess defined by the body. The body defines a recess having a fluid path with the open top of the bottle. A membrane, preferably formed from an elastomeric material, is secured across both the recess and the open top of the bottle, and may be retained between the top surface of the bottle and the body. The membrane preferably includes a central area sealing the recess from the open top of the bottle, with one or more fluid openings defined on a portion of the membrane outside of the central area. A pusher is located in the recess. A force exerted on the pusher deflects the membrane towards the interior of the vial, urging the membrane and fluid openings away from the body to open the fluid path between the bottle and the recess. The pusher may be structured to include one or more fluid pathways so as to facilitate fluid flow through the recess. A sealing rib may be provided around the portion of the periphery of the recess to enhance sealing contact between the central area of the membrane and the recess.

A lid (2) for a container (1) which lid comprises: a cover portion (5) adapted to extend over the container (1); an implement (3) adapted for use with contents (27) of the container, and a hinge (4, 6) connecting the cover portion (5) to the implement (3), wherein the implement is adapted to be rotated about the hinge (4, 6) into a storage position in which the implement lies against the cover portion. A cartridge shipping aid is provided to retain staples within staple pockets of a staple cartridge during shipment. The cartridge shipping aid includes a base and a longitudinal rib extending perpendicularly from an underside of the base and indiscernible into a knife slot formed in a staple cartridge. An apparatus for detecting tampering with a container sealed with a cap. The apparatus is comprised of a radio frequency transceiver for transmitting a signal upon receipt of a transmit command and an antenna attached thereto. In a first embodiment, the radio frequency transceiver and the antenna are mounted on a substrate attached to the container and the cap. The radio frequency transceiver is disabled when the antenna is separated into two portions upon breaking the seal between the container and the cap. In a second embodiment, the apparatus is mounted within a cap and is also comprised of a logic circuit and a probe that detects changes in the level of contents within the container. The probe produces an output relative to the level of contents in the container. The logic circuit then either prevents the radio frequency transceiver from communicating or causes it to transmit an alternative signal.

A container closure to be attached to a liquid container around a container opening of a liquid container. The container closure includes a storage compartment which includes a mix, such as powder or concentrated liquid. The storage compartment includes a seal or a rotating member to seal the mix within the storage compartment. A plunger unseals the seal or the rotating member is rotated to allow the mix to be mixed with the liquid in a liquid container to flavor the liquid when the container closure is attached to the liquid container.

The invention disclosed herein generally concerns a lid for disposable or reusable beverage containers which facilitates access to the contents for addition of condiment and which enhances the users sensory perception of the state of such contents, without removal of the lid. The lid of the invention combines various sensory elements to simultaneously enhance the user's sensory responses of taste, smell, touch and sight during drinking with the beverage cup lid in place. The sensory elements comprise openings, transparent materials, shape and media, through which liquid and vapor can pass, and through which heat can, conduct or convect. In addition to the elements already described, the beverage cup lid of the invention comprises a physical element that allows the addition and stirring of condiments while the lid is fully installed on the cup. The invention disclosed herein integrates multiple elements of a press and lock on a beverage cup lid. The shape of the lid of the invention provides a thin rim simulating the thickness of a cup without a lid or a non-disposable ceramic or glass mug or cup. The lid disclosed herein provides a well deep enough to avoid contact between the nose and the lid in the drinking position, thereby allowing the user's head to remain more upright while drinking.

A hot beverage lid having thermal protective flex-guards or flaps extending from opposite sides of a cover portion of the lid for protecting a consumer's fingers from heat emanating from the side of a cup. A first flap extends a first distance from under a drinking opening having sufficient area for a thumb. A conventional lid for a drinking cup, a straw, and a ring-shaped container with an inner through-hole suitable for receiving the drinking straw are combined with the drinking cup. The straw is used to couple the container to the drinking cup by passing the straw trough the through-hole and through the cup's lid, such that the container is firmly anchored thereby. Thus, the condiment container is available to a user holding the cup without having to manage it as a separate item.

A container holding two separate components which are mixed prior to use is provided. The container comprises a housing with a dispensing opening and neck portion between said opening and the bottom end of housing. The container further comprises a displaceable member disposed within the housing and having a partition wall with an edge adapted for a sealing engagement with internal walls of the neck portion, thereby defining two compartments separated by said partition wall. A displaceable member is axially displaceable between two positions along an axis extending through the neck portion. These two positions comprise a first position where the edge of the partition wall sealingly engages the internal walls of the neck portion, and a second position where the edge of the partition wall and the internal walls are disengaged permitting flow communication between the two compartments. This flow communication allows mixing of the two components to form a formulation which is then ready for use.

A beverage storage and discharge cap assembly includes an inner cylindrical housing rotatably nested within an outer cylindrical housing, the outer housing including a cap skirt having threads capable of being rotatably coupled to the neck of a bottle. The housings are hollow such that the inner housing may store a beverage substance therein, the inner housing having a closed top and the outer housing having a bottom wall for sealing the beverage substance within the cap assembly. A rotation of the inner housing causes a free edge thereof to rupture the bottom wall, thus releasing the stored beverage substance into the bottle whereby to interact with a beverage substance in the bottle. The housings include cooperating nubs that produce an audible sound or “pop” substantially simultaneous with rupture of the seal.

A cooler for maintaining food, beverage containers and/or consumable liquids in a thermally managed state. The cooler generally includes a housing having one or more cavities, a cover to selectively close or open the cavities and a plurality of tie down notches within the exterior portion of the housing to receive an elongated fastener for tying down the cooler. The cooler may include a first cavity that receives a food container and a second cavity that receives beverage containers. The first cavity may also store a liquid, such as water, that is dispensed from a spigot connected to the housing. A first cover and a second cover selectively close and open the cavities. The first cover includes a first access opening that removably receives the food container so the first cover doesn't have to be opened to retrieve the food container and its contents.

A stackable container system may comprise a beverage container, a beverage container lid, a plurality of smaller containers, and a plurality of smaller container lids. The smaller containers and smaller container lids are configured to allow any of the smaller container lids to be used on any of the smaller containers. The bottom of the beverage container and the bottom of each smaller container is also configured to allow the beverage container or smaller container to be interlocked with the top of any of the smaller container lids. A product package embodying the principles of the present invention includes an integrated circuit device which is configured for radio frequency interfacing with associated equipment. The package is configured such that the integrated circuit device is disposed within the package, thus assuring that the device remains associated with the package's contents. A cap for use with a container includes a ring member having an opening and a capsule provided on the ring member. The capsule extends through the opening. A plunger is provided on an interior wall of the capsule. The capsule contains a substance, such as a water-dispersible liquid. The container having a main chamber and a mouth stores and serves a beverage. The main chamber is filled with a single strength beverage, and the capsule is filled with a water-dispersible liquid. The liquid may be a flavor such as, for example, citrus, cranberry, passion fruit, or carambola. The capsule is placed in the mouth of the container contiguous the main chamber, with the capsule being openable to inject the water-dispersible liquid into the single strength beverage in the main chamber in response to manual manipulation of the capsule.

A container holding two separate components, which are mixed prior to use is provided. The container comprises a housing defining a first compartment having a sealable opening and a neck portion between said first compartment and said opening. The container further comprises a displaceable member which is disposed within the housing which has a partition wall with an edge adapted for sealing engagement with the internal wall of the neck portion, thereby defining a second compartment sealed from the first compartment and being in flow communication with the opening. The displaceable member is axially displaceable between two positions along an axis extending through the neck portion. These two positions comprise a first position where the edge of the partition wall sealably engages the internal walls of the neck portion, and a second position where the edge of the partition wall and the internal walls of the neck portion are disengaged, permitting flow communication between the two compartments. The container with two components is prepared by first introducing a first component into the first compartment, placing the displacable member within the compartment and fitting it into said first position, introducing the second component into the second compartment and sealing the opening.
