Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Sheath for a horse and method of mounting such a sheath Technical field
[0001] The present invention relates to the field of horse riding accessories and is aimed in particular at horse riding accessories intended to be positioned on a horse.
[0002] In a known manner, with reference to [Fig.l], a riding saddle S is placed on the back of a horse CH to form a seat for a rider. The riding saddle S, referred to as "saddle S", is held in position by means of a riding strap Al, referred to as "strap Al" extending under the belly of the horse CH. The saddle S and the strap Al are secured together by a plurality of girths forming a plurality of buckle / belt type connections which can be opened and closed manually by a user.
[0003] To protect the horse CH from friction from the saddle S, it is known to place a pad A2 between the back of the horse CH and the saddle S. The pad A2, generally made of quilted fabric, also absorbs the sweat of the horse CH and cushions the rider's weight. As is known, the pad A2 comprises two lateral loops PL to receive the girth Al and thus prevent the pad A2 from slipping relative to the saddle S.
[0004] In the equestrian world, it is also known to use various riding accessories to both ensure the comfort of the horse CH and avoid any risk of untimely movement of the saddle S when the horse CH is moving, for example.
[0005] In this respect, we know a shock absorber A3 which generally comes in the form of a cushion whose shape is adapted to the horse's back and which is placed between the pad A2 and the saddle S. The shock absorber A3 makes it possible to absorb the rider's weight and to distribute the pressures of the saddle S on the horse's back CH.
[0006] A hunting breastplate A4 is also known, positioned on the chest of the horse CH and connected, on the one hand, to the strap Al, under the belly of the horse CH, and, on the other hand, to the saddle S, at the back of the neck of the horse CH. Such a connection is generally made by means of three straps which can be opened and closed manually by a user. The straps make it possible to adapt the length of the hunting breastplate A4 to adapt it to the morphology and size of the horse CH. The hunting breastplate A4 makes it possible to ensure that the saddle S is correctly placed on the back of the horse CH and that the latter does not risk sliding backwards, in particular when the horse CH is moving, which could hinder it.
[0007] However, all these riding accessories (girth Al, rug A2, shock absorber A3 and A4 hunting collar) have many disadvantages.
[0008] Indeed, the Al girth and the A4 breastplate are generally made of leather so that they can be connected to the saddle S and provide effective support. However, these accessories can cause pressure points on the horse which can lead to discomfort or discomfort, or even a risk of injury if they are poorly positioned. A poorly positioned Al girth or A4 breastplate can also hinder the horse CH in its movements.
[0009] Similarly, it is important that the pad A2 is positioned precisely to avoid hindering or even injuring the horse, particularly at the withers. Also, it is generally necessary to adapt the shape and size of the pad A2 to the saddle S used, to ensure that there is no contact between the horse and the saddle S. If a rider uses different saddles S, for example for practicing various equestrian activities, it is generally necessary to have a pad A2 dedicated to each type of saddle S, which is impractical.
[0010] Furthermore, all the accessories A1, A2, A3, A4 must be positioned precisely relative to each other and are connected to each other by a large number of fasteners, which makes preparing the horse complex. In addition, each riding accessory A1, A2, A3, A4 must be placed individually and in a precise order on the horse CH, which is time-consuming.
[0011] To partially resolve these drawbacks, document FR2984296 discloses a band for allowing the attachment of a saddle to the back of a horse. The band, which is made of fabric, is placed on the periphery of the horse's body and allows it to fulfill the function of both the pad and the girth. The band can also extend over the horse's chest to prevent it from slipping backwards. However, the band has a significant width under the horse's belly to avoid pressure points, which does not allow ease in the horse's movements. In addition, when it also extends over its chest, to allow effective support over a sufficient surface area, the band also extends over the horse's shoulders and in particular over the horse's shoulder tips, which can hinder some of its movements.Furthermore, such a device, which envelops both the horse's body and its chest, must be specifically adapted to the horse's morphology to avoid discomfort, which requires offering a wide range of products to adapt to different horse sizes. This makes the manufacturing process complex and can lengthen production times.
[0012] The invention thus aims to eliminate at least some of these drawbacks by proposing a device for allowing the attachment of a saddle to a horse which is simple, practical and quick to put in place. The invention aims in particular at a device adaptable to different sizes of horses while respecting the morphology and the horse's comfort. PRESENTATION OF THE INVENTION
[0013] The invention relates to a riding sheath, intended to be placed on a horse's body, comprising: • a main organ configured to surround the horse’s body, • a secondary organ, independent of the main organ, intended to be po located on the chest of the horse, the secondary member being mechanically connected, in a removable manner, to the main member by at least one mechanical connecting member, the secondary member being configured to maintain the main member in a predetermined position on the body of the horse, the main member and the secondary member each comprising at least one extensible material to adapt to the body of the horse, • at least one fixing member configured to cooperate with a connecting member of a riding saddle so as to fix the riding saddle to the riding sheath, the fixing member being fixedly connected to the main member.
[0014] The riding sheath according to the invention advantageously allows the installation of a single riding accessory on the back of a horse to allow the attachment of a saddle while ensuring both that the latter does not risk moving unexpectedly and that the horse does not risk being hindered or injured. The riding sheath makes it possible to dispense with the installation of a pad, a breastplate and a girth, as was the case in the prior art. More precisely, the main member makes it possible to replace the riding pad and the girth, and the secondary member makes it possible to ensure that the main member and therefore the saddle does not risk sliding backwards on the horse's back, which makes it possible to dispense with the additional installation of a breastplate. In other words, the riding sheath according to the invention makes it possible to simplify the preparation of a horse, by limiting the number of pieces of equipment to be handled and by allowing a significant saving of time.
[0015] The main member and the secondary member each comprising an extensible material make it possible to form a riding sheath capable of adapting to the morphology of the horse, which makes it possible to ensure the comfort of the horse. The latter thus does not risk being bothered by the various accessories as could be the case in the prior art.
[0016] Thanks to the secondary member being independent of the main member, the position of the secondary member can advantageously be adapted in relation to the position of the main member on the horse. In other words, the riding sheath can be positioned in an adapted manner on the horse according to its morphology. In comparison with the rugs of the prior art, the riding sheath according to the invention offers thus more flexibility, since it allows it to adapt to different horse morphologies and different types of saddle.
[0017] In one embodiment, the main member is a single piece. This limits mechanical connections, which limits pressure points on the horse and avoids any risk of injury. Limiting mechanical connections, for example of the buckle / belt type, also allows for significant time savings.
[0018] In one embodiment, the connecting member is adjustable. This advantageously makes it possible to adapt the sheath simply and quickly to different sizes and morphologies of horses, which allows the manufacture of a limited range of sizes of riding sheaths, unlike the headband of the prior art which had to be precisely adapted to the horse to avoid hindering it and thus required the manufacture of a wide range, or even a custom range. The riding sheath also makes it possible to limit production costs.
[0019] Preferably, the main member comprises at least one notch to free one of the horse's arms. In other words, the main member is advantageously not in contact with the horse's arm. The term "arm" means the humerus, that is to say the area located directly above the horse's front leg. More preferably, the notch in the main member allows the horse's biceps brachii and triceps brachii to be freed, giving it particularly significant ease of movement. The point of the shoulder is also advantageously freed. Such a notch makes it possible to adapt the riding sheath to the horse's morphology while limiting the risk of discomfort. In particular, when the horse is moving, the release of the shoulder point, the biceps brachii and the triceps brachii allows significant freedom of movement. The riding sheath thus does not impact the horse's performance, unlike the headband of the prior art.
[0020] Preferably, the main member comprises two symmetrical notches to equally free the two arms of the horse, which allows similar freedom of movement of the two forelimbs of the horse. Preferably, each notch allows the shoulder point, the brachial biceps and the brachial triceps to be freed on either side of the horse. The main member thus has no impact on the movements and performances of the horse.
[0021] Preferably, the secondary member comprises at least one notch to clear a point of the horse's shoulder. In other words, the riding sheath is advantageously not in contact with the point of the horse's shoulder, which gives it complete freedom of movement. By "point of the shoulder" is meant the joint at the front of the horse between the arm and the horse's shoulder blade.
[0022] More preferably, the secondary member comprises two symmetrical notches. to equally free the horse's shoulder points. This advantageously promotes the amplitude of the horse's forelimbs and avoids any risk of hindering the horse's locomotion.
[0023] In a preferred embodiment, the main member is made at least in part from a fabric or neoprene veil. Such a material can advantageously adapt to the morphology and movements of the horse. In other words, such a material allows significant flexibility which limits both pressure points and discomfort for the horse. A main member made from a stretch fabric veil or neoprene material also allows for weight savings by eliminating the need for additional reins, often made of leather. A fabric veil or neoprene material is also advantageously machine washable, unlike prior art horse riding accessories, for example the riding girth or breastplate, which are generally made of leather. In one embodiment, the fabric veil is Lycra®, which has elastic, quick-drying and moisture-wicking properties.
[0024] According to a preferred aspect of the invention, the main member comprising a dorsal portion, intended to be in contact with the horse's back and comprising a main structure, and a ventral portion, intended to be in contact with the horse's belly and comprising a main structure, the main structure of the dorsal portion is made of a material whose elongation is greater than the elongation of the material of the main structure of the ventral portion. The dorsal portion can thus adapt optimally to the morphology of the horse, which makes it possible to limit any discomfort while ensuring effective support by the ventral portion, the mechanical resistance to traction of which is greater. In other words, this makes it possible to ensure that the riding sheath remains in place without impacting its comfort.
[0025] In a preferred embodiment, the secondary member includes a reinforced area having a Y shape, so as to form a less extensible and more resistant area to traction. This ensures that the riding sheath is properly in place. The saddle can thus be held effectively on the horse's back. In other words, the addition of a reinforced area makes it possible to connect the secondary member to the primary member effectively while making it possible to form a more flexible area around the points of the shoulders, arms and neck of the horse, making it possible to limit pressure points on the horse and to promote its amplitude.
[0026] Preferably, the main member comprises a padded area configured to extend under the riding saddle so as to cushion the rider's weight. Such a padded area makes it possible to dispense with the need to add a shock absorber between a prior art pad and the saddle, while ensuring the horse's comfort.
[0027] In a preferred embodiment, the main member comprises at least one Back pocket designed to accommodate a wedging device to distribute the pressure points of the riding saddle on the horse's body. This makes it quick and easy to adapt any type of saddle to the same riding sheath. The riding sheath can also adapt optimally to the horse's morphology.
[0028] Preferably, the main member comprises at least a first free attachment end and a second free attachment end configured to cooperate together to form a peripheral riding sheath. The main member is advantageously mounted to surround the horse or removed in a simple and rapid manner.
[0029] Preferably, the first free attachment end and the second free attachment end are configured to cooperate in the manner of one of the following connections: snap fasteners, zipper, molle system, loop loop, adjustment loop, hook and loop textile connection of the self-gripping strip type, velvet connection and hooks. The installation and removal of the main peripheral member is thus simple and quick to carry out by a user. Such attachment systems also allow repeated installation and removal without risking damage to the riding sheath.
[0030] In one embodiment, the riding sheath comprises at least one housing formed at least in part in a main structure of the dorsal portion and / or in a main structure of the ventral portion of the main member to allow the mounting of one or more electronic sensors. This advantageously makes it possible to mount sensors as close as possible to the horse's body to effectively measure various parameters related to the horse's life or to girthing pressure, for example.
[0031] In one embodiment, the riding sheath comprises one or more sensors mounted on the periphery of the riding sheath (when it is around the horse) to control the girthing pressure. This makes it possible to ensure optimal girthing that is both sufficient to ensure the correct positioning of the riding saddle on the horse's back while avoiding excessive pressure to avoid any risk of hindering the horse, in particular when the horse is moving. In the case of adjustable connecting members, the pressure sensors make it possible to ensure optimal positioning of the riding sheath on the horse.
[0032] In one embodiment, the riding sheath comprises one or more sensors mounted in the dorsal portion of the main member, i.e. at the level of the horse's back to enable measurement of an equivalent pressure on the horse's back. This makes it possible, for example, to detect an imbalance of the rider or the saddle or an asymmetry of the horse. Such defects can thus be corrected or compensated for to enable optimal ergonomics for both the horse and the rider.
[0033] In one embodiment, the riding sheath comprises one or more sensors mounted on the primary member and / or on the secondary member for measuring the horse's heart rate, temperature, gait, etc.
[0034] The invention also relates to a method of placing a riding sheath as described above on a horse, the method comprising the steps of: • position the main organ on the horse’s back, • girdle the horse with the main organ so as to form the peripheral riding sheath, and • mechanically connect the secondary organ and the main organ.
[0035] Preferably, the installation method comprises, after the step of fixing the secondary member to the main member, a step of adjusting the connecting members to adapt the riding sheath to the morphology of the horse. PRESENTATION OF FIGURES

[0045] It should be noted that the figures set out the invention in detail to implement the invention, said figures can of course be used to better define the invention where appropriate. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0046] A riding sheath according to one embodiment of the invention will be described, intended to be positioned on a horse.
[0047] In this example, with reference to [Fig. 2], the riding sheath 1 is described in an orthogonal reference frame (X, Y, Z) defined relative to a horse CH. In the reference frame (X, Y, Z), the riding sheath 1 extends longitudinally along an X axis, transversely along a Y axis and vertically along a Z axis. Also, the terms "front" and "back" refer to the X axis which extends horizontally from the back to the front of the horse CH, that is to say along the cranio-caudal axis of the horse CH. Similarly, the terms "under" and "on" (or "below" and "above") refer to the horse CH and to the Z axis which extends vertically from the bottom to the top, as shown in [Fig. 2].
[0048] [Fig. 2] shows the riding sheath 1 positioned on the body C of a horse CH in order to receive a riding saddle (not shown) so as to form a seat for a rider. For this, the riding sheath 1 comprises a main member 2 configured to encircle the body C of the horse CH and a secondary member 3 configured to be positioned on the chest P of the horse CH. By the term "girdle", it is meant that the main member 2 extends peripherally around the body C of the horse CH, so as to cover both its back and the region of the body C located under its belly directly behind the front legs and shoulders, known as the "girth passage". Hereinafter, for the sake of brevity, such a region will be designated "belly" V.
[0049] [Fig. 3] shows a view of the main member 2 laid flat, that is to say substantially in the horizontal plane (X, Y).
[0050] In this example, the main member 2 comprises a dorsal portion 4 intended to be in contact with the back of the horse CH and a ventral portion 5 intended to be in contact with the belly V of the horse CH (as shown in [Fig.2]). More precisely, the dorsal portion 4 is configured to extend between the back of the horse CH and the saddle. In other words, the dorsal portion 4 fulfills the role of the prior art pad. The ventral portion 5 makes it possible to dispense with the addition of a prior art strap, as will be described in more detail later.
[0051] In one embodiment, as shown in [Fig. 3], the main member 2 is a single piece. In other words, the dorsal portion 4 and the ventral portion 5 are connected so as to form a single unit. In particular, in this example, with reference to [Fig. 3], the dorsal portion 4 comprises a first end 41 fixedly connected to a first end 51 of the ventral portion 5. In other words, the dorsal portion 4 is inseparable from the ventral portion 5.
[0052] Preferably, the dorsal portion 4 comprises a second free attachment end 42 configured to cooperate with a second free attachment end 52 of the ventral portion 5 to form the peripheral riding sheath 1. Otherwise said, the second free attachment end 42 of the dorsal portion 4 and the second free attachment end 52 of the ventral portion 5 are configured to cooperate in a removably manner to allow the riding sheath 1 to be easily positioned and removed on the body C of the horse CH.
[0053] In this example, the two second free fastening ends 42, 52 are configured to be connected together by means of press studs, a zipper, a self-gripping strip (for example of the Velcro® type), an eyelet fastening system (for example a “MOLLE” type fastening), an adjustment buckle connection, a loop loop, a velvet / hook connection. It goes without saying that the fastening system could be different.
[0054] In an alternative embodiment (not shown), the dorsal portion 4 and the ventral portion 5 are separable. In other words, both the first end 41 and the second end 42 of the dorsal portion 4 are free, each being mechanically connected respectively in a removable manner to the first end 51 and to the second end 52 of the ventral portion 5. In this second embodiment, the two first attachment ends 41, 51 and the second free attachment ends 42, 52 are configured to be connected respectively together, for example, by means of press studs, a zipper, a self-gripping strip (for example of the Velcro® type), an eyelet attachment system (for example a “MOLLE” type attachment), an adjustment buckle connection, a loop loop, a velvet / hook connection. It goes without saying that the attachment system could be different.
[0055] When the riding sheath 1 is positioned on the body C of the horse CH, the first ends 41, 51 on the one hand, and the second free attachment ends 42, 52, on the other hand, extend, in this example, laterally substantially at the level of the two flanks of the horse CH. Alternatively, the first ends 41, 51 and the second free attachment ends 42, 52 can extend substantially under the ribs, on either side of the belly V of the horse CH.
[0056] According to one aspect of the invention, the main member 2 comprises at least one extensible material, so as to adapt to the body C of the horse CH and thus avoid any discomfort. In other words, an extensible material allows the riding sheath 1 to adapt optimally to the morphology of the horse CH while ensuring its comfort.
[0057] Preferably, the stretchable material is selected from a fabric or a neoprene material.
[0058] In this example, the main member 2 comprises several fabric sails, as will be described in more detail later. The dorsal portion 4 and the ventral portion 5 are connected, in this example in which the main member 2 is a single piece, at their fixed ends 41, 51 by a seam to allow a connection at the same time robust and homogeneous, free from pressure zones.
[0059] With reference to [Fig. 3], the dorsal portion 4 comprises a main structure 43 which extends between the first end 41 and the second free fixing end 42. Preferably, the main structure 43 is symmetrical along the back line of the horse CH which extends along the longitudinal axis X.
[0060] In this example, the main structure 43 of the dorsal portion 4 is made of a flexible fabric, allowing it to easily adapt to the morphology of the horse CH and increasing its comfort. In this example, the main structure 43 is made of Lycra®, which also allows for a breathable fabric that effectively absorbs the perspiration of the horse CH. It goes without saying that the main structure 43 could alternatively be made of a different stretchy material.
[0061] Preferably, the main structure 43 has a thickness (along the vertical axis Z in [Fig. 3]) of between 1 and 3 mm. The main structure 43 is thus thinner than the rugs of the prior art, which makes it possible to limit the discomfort of the horse while forming a light riding sheath 1 and which makes it possible to limit heating of the horse CH.
[0062] In a preferred embodiment shown in Figures 3 and 5, the main structure 43 comprises a notch 46 configured to clear the arm B of the horse CH. In this document, as shown in [Fig.3], the term "arm" designates the humerus of the horse CH which extends above the foreleg from the point of the shoulder EP (also shown in the figures). Preferably, the notch 46 configured to clear the shoulder point EP, the biceps brachii and the triceps brachii of the horse CH. Preferably, the main structure 43 comprises two notches 46, positioned symmetrically with respect to the back line of the horse CH, so as to clear the shoulder point EP, the biceps brachii and the triceps brachii on either side of the horse CH, which allows the latter to be free of its movements. In this example in which the main structure 43 is made of fabric, each notch 46 is easily cut and trimmed to contour the biceps brachii and the triceps brachii on each side of the horse CH.
[0063] With reference to [Fig.6], in order to determine the dimensions of the notch 46, a line Li is defined, which extends substantially between the tip of the shoulder EP and the rear end AR of the riding sheath 1 on the back of the horse CH. Preferably, the notch 46 allows the arm B of the horse CH to be freed by a distance d, measured from the tip of the shoulder EP along the line Li, greater than or equal to 20 cm. Preferably, the distance d is greater than or equal to 25 cm for a horse of average size at the withers. It goes without saying that this value may be different for a pony for example.
[0064] Such a measurement can be carried out when the riding sheath 1 is positioned on the horse CH, for example using a tape measure. Thanks to such a dimension, the notch 46 allows optimal clearance of the arm B of the horse CH and in particular its biceps brachii and its triceps brachii to allow it complete ease whatever its gait.
[0065] With reference to [Fig. 3], the dorsal portion 4 comprises two connecting members 47 each configured to cooperate with the secondary member 3 so as to connect the main member 2 and the secondary member 3. The connecting members 47 allow a removable connection between the main member 2 and the secondary member 3 to optimally position the riding sheath 1 on the body of the horse CH, without it hindering it. A removable connection between the main member 2 and the secondary member 3 also allows simple and rapid positioning of the riding sheath on the horse CH. Preferably, the two connecting members 47 are configured to each extend forward, on either side of the neck EN of the horse CH, to allow a symmetrical and balanced connection of the secondary member 3. It goes without saying that the dorsal portion 4 could alternatively comprise a different number of connecting members 47.
[0066] Preferably, each connecting member 47 is made from the material of the main structure 43, so as to limit the junctions which may represent an area whose mechanical resistance is reduced. In this example, the main structure 43 and the connecting members 47 are cut from the same piece of fabric.
[0067] Preferably, each connecting member 47 has an elongated shape, from the main structure 43 to form the notch 46 and prevent the riding sheath 1 from covering the arms B and the shoulder tips EP of the horse CH. An elongated shape also allows the riding sheath 1 to adapt more easily to different horse morphologies.
[0068] In one embodiment, each connecting member 47 is adjustable, so as to precisely adapt the position of the secondary member 3 relative to the main member 2 on the horse CH. This advantageously makes it possible to adapt the riding sheath 1 to different sizes and different sizes of horses. An adjustable connecting member 47 makes it possible to form a universal riding sheath 1 which adapts to all horses.
[0069] Preferably, each connecting member 47 is in the form of an adjustable strap. For example, each connecting member 47 is similar to a bag shoulder strap or an adjustable suspender strap. As such, each connecting member 47 comprises, in this example, an adjustment device 48 for modifying the length of the connecting member 47 and adjusting it to the size of the horse CH. In this example, the adjustment device 48 is in the form of a metal buckle. It goes without saying that each connecting member 47 and each adjustment device 48 could come in a different form.
[0070] Preferably, with reference to [Fig.3] and [Fig.4], the dorsal portion 4 comprises a padded area 44. Preferably, the padded area 44 is integrated into the main member 2 and is configured to extend between the back of the horse CH and the saddle, so as to cushion the rider's weight. In this example, the padded area 44 is in the form of a cushion integrated into the main member 2. This makes it possible to dispense with the need to add a shock absorber between the pad and the saddle, as was the case in the prior art. In this example, the padded area 44 comprises a yoke sewn onto the main structure 43 and into which a padding material is inserted. It goes without saying that the padded area 44 could alternatively be in a different form, for example in the form of an insert made of quilted fabric, foam, fleece or memory foam, or in the form of an air, water or silicone pocket, etc.
[0071] Preferably, the padded area 44 has an openwork shape, so as to free a central area 45 at the withers G of the horse CH. More precisely, the central area 45 is preferably made of flexible fabric and free of padding. This makes it possible to free the withers G which must be free of any pressure to limit any risk of injury. In particular, in this example, the central area 45 is made of Lycra®. Thanks to the central area 45 of the riding sheath 1, it is thus no longer necessary to unhook the horse when putting on a rug, as was the case in the prior art. In this example, as shown in [Fig. 4], the central area 45 has a length L45 along the longitudinal axis X of between 25x102 and 35x102 m. Such a length L45 ensures that the entire withers of the CH horse are covered only with a soft and stretchy fabric, in this example of the Lycra® type.
[0072] According to a preferred aspect of the invention, with reference to [Fig. 4], the dorsal portion 4 comprises one or more dorsal pockets 49 intended to receive a wedging member CA. The wedging member CA is configured to adapt the riding sheath 1 to the morphology of the horse CH and to different types of saddles. In particular, each wedging member CA makes it possible to balance the saddle by adjusting it to the back of the horse CH. Thus, whatever the saddle mounted on the back of the horse CH, the pressure points are optimally distributed over the back of the horse CH. Preferably, the dorsal portion 4 comprises two dorsal pockets 49 positioned symmetrically on either side of the back line of the horse CH, to allow the riding sheath 1 to be optimally adapted to the saddle and the back of the horse CH.It goes without saying that the dorsal portion 4 could alternatively comprise a greater number of dorsal pockets 49, in particular a number greater than two.
[0073] Preferably, each back pocket 49 is formed by superimposing a layer of extensible material. In this example, each back pocket 49 is formed by the addition of a fabric veil (for example a stretch fabric of the Lycra® type or a mesh fabric) fixed to the main structure 43 of the dorsal portion 4, for example by a seam, in a similar manner to a coat pocket for example.
[0074] Preferably, each wedging member CA is made of a flexible material to limit any risk of injury or discomfort for the horse CH. In one example, each wedging member CA is in the form of foam, an assembly of foams or mesh fabric. The wedging member CA could alternatively be in the form of a deformable volume similar to the padded zone 44 described previously. As such, the wedging member CA could be in the form of a silicone pocket or an air pocket for example. Each wedging member CA makes it possible to guarantee the comfort of both the horse CH and the rider.
[0075] An independent padded area 44 and a wedging member CA are presented, however, the wedging member CA could just as easily be put in place alone, for example as a replacement for the padded area 44 or as a complement to the padded area 44.
[0076] As described previously, the ventral portion 5 is configured to extend under the belly V of the horse CH. For this, with reference to [Fig. 3], the ventral portion 5 comprises a main structure 53 which extends between the first end 51 and the second free attachment end 52. Preferably, the main structure 53 is substantially symmetrical along the belly line V of the horse CH which extends along the longitudinal axis X.
[0077] In this example, the main structure 53 of the ventral portion 5 is made of a material that is mechanically more resistant than the material of the dorsal portion 4 to allow effective maintenance of the riding sheath 1 on the body C of the horse CH. More precisely, the main structure 53 of the ventral portion 5 is preferably made of a material whose elongation is less significant than the elongation of the material of the main structure 43 of the dorsal portion 4.
[0078] According to a preferred aspect of the invention, the main structure 53 of the ventral portion 5 is made from a fabric veil, allowing it to adapt to the morphology of the horse CH while being washable. Preferably, the ventral portion 5 is made from a synthetic fabric, for example nylon fibers, allowing a fabric that is both waterproof and resistant to friction, which also makes it possible to protect the horse CH. In this example, the ventral portion 5 is made from a Cordura® type fabric which is advantageously light and has significant resistance to abrasion. Thus, even in the event of regular friction of the hooves of the horse CH for example, the riding sheath 1 has a long service life.
[0079] In this example, as shown in [Fig.3], the ventral portion 5 has the form of a "bib strap" type strap, known to those skilled in the art. Such a shape advantageously allows both a ventral portion 5 whose dimensions are large enough to effectively protect the horse CH and sufficiently limited to avoid hindering it. As such, the main structure 53 of the ventral portion 5 preferably has a length L53 (shown in [Fig. 3]), defined in the plane (X, Y) along the lateral axis Y from the front of the first end 51 to the rear of the ventral portion 5, between 35x102 and 55x102 m. Thanks to such a length, the rear of the flanks of the horse CH is advantageously not covered, which makes it possible to free the rib cage of the horse CH, while allowing the rider to have direct contact with the horse CH, unlike the device of the prior art in which all of the flanks of the horse CH were covered.
[0080] In an alternative embodiment (not shown), the riding sheath 1 comprises two removable portions, connected for example to both the dorsal portion 4 and the ventral portion 5 of the main member 2 and configured to extend over the flanks of the horse CH, so as to protect it for example from spurs.
[0081] Preferably, the ventral portion 5 comprises a connecting member 55 configured to cooperate with the secondary member 3 so as to connect them. The connecting member 55 allows a removable connection between the main member 2 and the secondary member 3 to position the riding sheath 1 on the body of the horse CH in a simple, rapid and optimal manner, without it hindering it. Preferably, the connecting member 55 is configured to extend under the belly V of the horse CH, in particular under its chest P. It goes without saying that the ventral portion 5 could alternatively comprise a different number of connecting members 55.
[0082] Still with reference to [Fig.3], the connecting member 55 preferably has an elongated shape, from the main structure 53 to limit the contact zones with the horse CH and thus avoid hindering it.
[0083] In one embodiment, the connecting member 55 of the ventral portion 5 is adjustable, so as to adapt the position of the secondary member 3 relative to the main member 2 on the horse CH, as will be described in more detail below. This advantageously makes it possible to adapt the riding sheath 1 to different sizes and different morphologies of horses. Preferably, the connecting member 55 is in the form of an adjustable strap. In this example, the adjustable connecting member 55 comprises a metal loop 56 to modify the length of the adjustable connecting member 55 and adjust it to the size of the horse CH. It goes without saying that the connecting member 55 could be in a different form.
[0084] Preferably, the connecting member 55 of the ventral portion 5 is made from the same material as that used to manufacture the main structure 53. In particular, the connecting member 55 is, in this example, made from nylon fibers, so as to effectively resist friction and significant tensile force. In this example, the connecting member 55 is connected to the main structure 53 by means of a connecting element, for example a metal loop. It goes without saying that the connecting member 55 could be connected to the main structure 53 in a different manner, for example by means of a seam, a hook-and-loop fastener, a press stud, etc.
[0085] Preferably, still with reference to [Fig. 3], the ventral portion 5 comprises a reinforced zone 54 configured to extend directly under the belly V of the horse CH, so as to protect it for example from hoof strikes or when jumping over obstacles. Preferably, the reinforced zone 54 is integrated into the main member 2. In this example, the reinforced zone 54 comprises a fabric insert sewn onto the main structure 53. More preferably, the reinforced zone 54 comprises two superimposed inserts sewn onto the main structure 53, so as to be able to fix a different fabric on an inner face in contact with the horse CH and an opposite outer face. In this example, the inner face is made of a comfortable and breathable material. For example, the inner face is made of a quilted mesh fabric, of the 3D mesh type. The outer face is preferably made of a strong fabric, for example leather or nylon, so as to protect the belly V of the horse CH effectively. The reinforced area 54 also comprises, in one embodiment, a reinforcing member (not shown) to stiffen it and protect the belly V of the horse CH. For example, the reinforcing member is in the form of a shell inserted between the inserts or in the form of a piece of leather.
[0086] In one embodiment, with reference to [Fig. 3], the main member 2 comprises one or more housing(s) 7 formed in the main structure 43 of the dorsal portion 4 and / or in the main structure 53 of the ventral portion 5, to allow the mounting of one or more electronic sensors. The sensors are thus mounted as close as possible to the body of the animal.
[0087] In a first embodiment, the riding sheath 1 comprises one or more sensors mounted on the periphery of the main member 2, when the latter is girding the horse, to control the girthing pressure. For this, the main member 2 comprises, in this example, a housing 7A in which a pressure sensor is mounted. This makes it possible to ensure that the riding sheath 1 is correctly fixed on the horse's body and that it is not likely to move. A pressure sensor also makes it possible to ensure the absence of excessive pressure which could hinder the horse CH. The riding sheath 1 could alternatively comprise a plurality of housings 7A distributed homogeneously on the dorsal portion 4 and on the ventral portion 5 to control the girthing pressure on the periphery of the body of the horse CH.
[0088] In a second embodiment, the riding sheath 1 comprises one or more sensors mounted in the dorsal portion 4 of the main member 2 to enable measurement of an equivalent pressure on the horse's back. For this, the main member 2 comprises, in this example, a housing 7B mounted substantially at the level of the horse's back CH, in which a pressure sensor is mounted. This makes it possible, for example, to detect an imbalance of the rider or the saddle or an asymmetry of the horse. It goes without saying that the housing 7B could be positioned differently on the dorsal portion 4. Similarly, it goes without saying that the riding sheath 1 could alternatively comprise more than one housing 7B to mount several pressure sensors, so as to ensure equivalent and symmetrical pressure under the entire riding saddle.
[0089] In a third embodiment, the riding sheath 1 comprises one or more sensors mounted on the main member 2 and / or on the secondary member 3 to measure the horse's cardiac activity, its temperature, its gait, etc. For this, in this example, the main member 2 comprises a housing 7C mounted on the ventral portion 5. It goes without saying that the housing 7C could be positioned differently on the riding sheath 1. Similarly, it goes without saying that the riding sheath 1 could alternatively comprise more than one housing 7C to mount different sensors in the riding sheath 1 so as to measure each of the parameters independently.
[0090] In one embodiment, the main member 2 comprises two fasteners 21 configured to be connected to a saddle. As shown in Figures 2 and 4, the fasteners 21 are configured to extend on each side of the neck EN of the horse CH, so as to connect the saddle symmetrically and to prevent the saddle from moving back on the riding sheath 1 and releasing the withers G. Each fastener 21 is configured to be connected to a stud or a buckle of the saddle. As such, in this example, each fastener 21 is in the form of a nylon strap comprising a self-gripping strip so that it can be opened and closed easily. It goes without saying that each fastener 21 could be in a different form, for example a fabric loop, a snap button, etc.
[0091] As previously described and shown in [Fig.2], the secondary member 3 is independent of the main member 2 and is configured to be mounted on the chest P of the horse CH. The secondary member 3 is configured to maintain the main member 2 at a predetermined position on the body C of the horse CH.
[0092] For this, with reference to [Fig.5], the secondary member 3 has a shape adapted to extend over the chest P of the horse CH without hindering it. As such, in this example, the secondary member 3 has a substantially triangular shape for clear both the tip of the shoulders EP and the neck EN of the horse CH and to extend symmetrically over the horse CH. The secondary organ 3 could alternatively have a substantially Y-shaped shape.
[0093] The secondary member 3 preferably comprises a main structure 31 and two notches 33 to free the shoulders EP of the horse CH so as to allow significant freedom of movement.
[0094] With reference to [Fig.7], more precisely, each notch 33 makes it possible to completely release each shoulder point EP of the horse CH. The notch 33 makes it possible in particular to completely release each brachial biceps of the horse CH.
[0095] The combination of the notch 46 of the main member 2 and the notch 33 of the secondary member 3 makes it possible to completely free the tip of the shoulder EP of the horse CH as well as these brachial biceps and brachial triceps to guarantee complete ease of the horse CH.
[0096] According to a preferred aspect of the invention, the secondary member 3 comprises at least one extensible material, so as to adapt to the body C of the horse CH to avoid any discomfort and to adapt the secondary member 3 to the morphology and locomotion of the horse CH. Preferably, the extensible material is chosen from a veil of flexible fabric or a neoprene material, which adapt to the movements of the horse CH. In this example, the main structure 31 is made of Lycra®, which allows an extensible fabric which easily adapts to the morphology of the horse, in particular around the shoulders EP and the neck EN of the horse CH, while allowing a breathable fabric which effectively absorbs the perspiration of the horse CH.
[0097] Preferably, the secondary member 3 comprises a reinforced zone 32 so as to form a more tensile-resistant zone for connecting the secondary member 3 to the main member 2. Preferably, as shown in [Fig. 5], the reinforced zone 32 comprises three branches for respectively connecting each connecting member 47, 55. In other words, the reinforced zone 32 has, in this example, a Y shape. This allows an effective connection without risking hindering the horse CH. Indeed, a Y shape allows both the two shoulders EP and the neck EN of the horse CH to be freed, which allows significant freedom of movement. Unlike the hunting breastplate of the prior art, the secondary member 3 thus advantageously has a shape which makes it possible to limit contact at the shoulders EP of the horse. The reinforced zone 32 could alternatively have a triangular shape, in which each point of the triangle would correspond to each branch of the Y described previously.
[0098] In this example, the reinforced area 32 is also made of fabric to be easily connected to the main structure 31, for example by means of a seam. In this example, the reinforced area 32 is made of a fabric that is more resistant to traction than the fabric used for the main structure 31. For example, the reinforced area 32 is made of nylon. The reinforced area 32 could alternatively be made of a different material. Such a reinforced area 32 makes it possible to keep the riding sheath 1 in place on the back of the horse CH effectively. In other words, the main structure 31 made of stretchable material combined with a reinforced area 32 makes it possible to form a secondary member 3 that is sufficiently flexible around the shoulders EP and the neck EN to limit pressure points and friction on the horse CH, while ensuring an effective and robust connection between the secondary member 3 and the main member 2.
[0099] To connect the main member 2 and the secondary member 3, the latter preferably comprises three connecting members 34 configured to cooperate with the three connecting members 47, 55 of the main member 2. Preferably, each connecting member 34 is mounted at one end of the reinforced zone 32, so as to effectively resist the tensile force generated by the tightening of the riding sheath 1 on the horse CH. In other words, each connecting member 34 is preferably mounted at one end of a branch of the Y shape. The Y shape also makes it possible to position the connection between the main member 2 and the secondary member 3 in an optimal manner to avoid any risk of the riding sheath 1 hindering the horse.
[0100] In a preferred embodiment, each connecting member 34 is in the form of a self-locking fastener which makes it possible to avoid the risk of involuntary opening, while allowing easy manual opening by a user. In this example, each connecting member 34 is in the form of a LOXX® fastener. More preferably, in this example, such a fastener comprises a male part mounted on each connecting member 34 of the secondary member 3, and a female part, configured to cooperate with the male part and mounted on each fastening member 47, 55 of the dorsal portion 4 and the ventral portion 5 of the main member 2. It goes without saying that each connecting member 34 could be in a different form, for example a snap button, a belt buckle system, an eyelet closure, etc.
[0101] In this example, the secondary member 3 comprises a fixing device 35 preferably positioned in the middle of the reinforced zone 32 and configured to connect additional equipment, for example a fixed or ring martingale fork.
[0102] According to one aspect of the invention, the riding sheath 1 comprises at least one fixing member 6 configured to cooperate with a connecting member L (shown in [Fig.8]) of a riding saddle S. This makes it possible to fix the saddle to the riding sheath 1. Preferably, the riding sheath 1 comprises two fixing members 6, each configured to cooperate with two straps of the saddle to fix it to the riding sheath 1.
[0103] With reference to [Fig. 3], each fastening member 6 is fixedly connected to the main member 2. This makes it possible, for example, to limit the addition of additional fastening members. In this example, the two fastening members 6 are configured to extend on either side of the horse CH, substantially at the level of the flanks. In an alternative embodiment, the fastening members 6 extend substantially under the ribs, on either side of the belly V of the horse CH, for example to allow the attachment of a single-flap saddle.
[0104] In this example, still with reference to Figures 2 and 3, each fixing member 6 is preferably mounted at the junction between the dorsal portion 3 and the ventral portion 4 of the main member 2. In particular, in this example, each fixing member 6 is preferably connected to the main member 2 by a seam to allow a single-piece assembly. Alternatively, each fixing member 6 is mounted at the junction between the main structure 53 and the reinforced zone 54 of the ventral portion 5 of the main member 2. This allows, for example, the fixing of a single-flap saddle.
[0105] Preferably, each fastening member 6 is in the form of a counter-girth. Preferably, each fastening member 6 comprises two counter-girths to cooperate with two girths of a riding saddle, so as to reliably secure the saddle.
[0106] Preferably, each fastening member 6 is made of a robust material. For example, each fastening member 6 comprises a base 61 made of nylon fibers to connect the main member 2 in a simple manner. Each fastening member 6 could alternatively be made of an elastic material. Each fastening member 6 also comprises an end 62, preferably made of leather to cooperate with a leather girth, as is known from the prior art. The fastening of the saddle to the riding sheath 1 is thus similar to the fastening of a saddle by means of girths and counter-girths, as was the case in the prior art, which is advantageous for a rider who can simply attach the saddle to the riding sheath 1 after having equipped the horse with it.
[0107] The riding sheath according to the invention advantageously allows three riding accessories to be replaced: the pad, the girth and the breastplate, which allows a significant saving of time when preparing a horse. In addition, the riding sheath is entirely machine washable, unlike the leather reins of the prior art. The two-part riding sheath can easily adapt to different morphologies and different sizes of horses by allowing precise positioning of both the secondary organ and the main organ on the horse. The three-in-one riding sheath is thus semi-universal by offering a limited range of sizes, which facilitates the production line, while being adaptable to all sizes of horses.
[0108] When the riding sheath 1 has a padded area 44 that extends under the riding saddle to cushion the rider's weight, this also replaces the shock absorber, which is no longer needed, to form a semi-universal four-in-one riding sheath that easily adapts to different horse sizes.
[0109] A method for fitting a riding sheath 1 to a horse CH will now be described according to an embodiment of the invention. In this example, the riding sheath 1 comprises a padded area 44 to cushion the rider's weight and a wedge to adapt the saddle to the horse CH optimally.
[0110] In a first step E1, a user positions the dorsal portion 4 of the main member 2 on the back of the horse CH. The main member 2 is preferably positioned so as to place the padded area 44 around the withers G of the horse CH and the central area 45 on the withers G, so as to ensure that it does not hinder the horse CH.
[0111] Preferably, the user then grasps, in a second step E2, the ventral portion 5, which is, in this example, integral with the dorsal portion 4, and places it under the belly V of the horse CH, in the manner of a riding saddle strap. The second free attachment end 42 of the dorsal portion 4 and the second free attachment end 52 of the ventral portion 5 are then secured so as to encircle the horse CH with the main member 2. For example, the two second free attachment ends 42, 52 are connected by a zipper, a self-gripping strip, a MOLLE type attachment, a clip system, etc.
[0112] In a third step E3, the user positions the secondary member 3 on the chest P of the horse CH and connects it to the main member 2. In this step, the user fixes the three connecting members 47, 55 of the dorsal portion 4 and of the ventral portion 5 to the secondary member 3. In this example, the connection is made via the three connecting members 34 of the secondary member 3 which are mounted at the level of the three branches of the Y shape to ensure stable support.
[0113] In this example, the three connecting members 47, 55 of the main member 2 are then adjusted in a step E4, so that the riding sheath 1 is precisely adapted to the morphology of the horse CH. The connecting members 47, 55 are securely connected while ensuring that no pressure points are applied to the body of the horse CH. Thanks to the riding sheath 1, the comfort of the horse CH is ensured.
[0114] In this example, the user then inserts two wedges CA into two back pockets 49 of the main member 2, so as to adapt the shape of the saddle to the shape of the back of the horse CH. This makes it possible to distribute the rider's weight on the back of the horse CH, and to ensure optimal comfort by balancing the saddle.
[0115] The user then fixes, in a step E5, the riding saddle S on the sheath riding saddle 1. In this step, the attachment is carried out by means of the two attachment members 6 mounted on either side of the horse CH at the flanks and connected to two connecting members L of the riding saddle S. The attachment is thus carried out in a manner similar to a riding girth of the prior art, which makes it possible not to change the rider's habits. The riding saddle S is attached to the riding sheath 1 reliably and any risk of the riding saddle moving, for example, towards the rear of the body C of the horse CH is eliminated.
[0116] Thanks to the riding sheath, it is not necessary to use a rug, a girth, a hunting collar, or even a shock absorber, while ensuring both the comfort and safety of the horse.
