AI Technical Summary
Technical Problem
Traditional band ligation instruments require high spring forces for deploying ligating bands, leading to thick walls and environmental concerns, and are difficult to use due to high frictional forces.
Method used
A ligator with a band deployment device featuring inclined seats, rolling-element bearings, and a trigger mechanism that reduces friction through optimized seat profiles and bearing systems, allowing for easier deployment and reloading of ligating bands.
Benefits of technology
The solution reduces the force required for band deployment and reloading, making the ligator easier to use and reducing material thickness, thus minimizing environmental impact and cost.

Abstract
A ligator (10, fig 1) comprises a band deployment device 20 with annular seats 2 spaced apart in an axial direction, each seat being configured to receive a respective ligation band 12. The band deployment device has an inner part 24 and an outer part 26, each being configured to provide parts of the seats. The inner and outer parts are capable of relative reciprocating movement in the axial direction between a non-deploying state (Fig 7) and a deploying state (Fig 8). A foremost seat 22A is located at a free end of the deployment device from which a foremost ligation bands 12A is deployed during use, in response to operation of the deployment device from the non-deploying state to the deploying state. The foremost seat includes a ramp (60, Fig 6A) that is inclined away from the axial direction in in a forward direction towards the free end of the deployment device. Preferably, the ramp has first (60A, Fig 6A) and second (60B, Fig 6A) portions with different inclinations. Roller-element bearings 64 may be provided between the inner and outer parts.
