Abstract

A nasal interface 100 comprises a body 110 having a gases flow channel 125 in communication with two nasal delivery elements 111, 112 that are configured to deliver gases to a naris of a patient. At least one of the nasal delivery elements is a non-sealing nasal delivery element. The interface further comprises a gases inlet port in the body. The gases inlet port 121 is in fluid communication with the gases flow channel and receives incoming respiratory gases from a gases supply conduit. The interface also comprises a bias flow vent 340. The nasal interface is configured to create an asymmetric flow of gases at the patient’s nasal airways. Asymmetric flow may be achieved via the location of the gases inlet port in relation to the nasal delivery elements or the nasal delivery elements having different sized cross-sections. Also disclosed is a headgear for supporting a nasal interface comprising a securing member that extends around a portion of a patient’s head and that has a comb to secure it to the patient’s hair. The headgear may comprise a plurality of substantially vertically arranged struts, wherein adjacent struts are connected by loops at opposing vertical ends to form a S-shaped or Z-shaped sinusoidal pattern.
