Description

[Technical field]

[0001] This application claims priority to Chinese Patent Application No. 202210130065.2, entitled “COMMUNICATION METHOD AND COMMUNICATION APPARATUS,” filed with the China State Intellectual Property Office on February 11, 2022, which is incorporated by reference in its entirety herein.

[0002] TECHNICAL FIELD Embodiments of this application relate to the field of communications, and more particularly, to a communication method and a communication device. [Background technology]

[0003] Location services (LCS), currently also called positioning services, are services that determine the actual geographic location of a mobile user through cooperation between a wireless terminal and a wireless network to provide location-related information required by the user. There are two concepts involved in location services: mobile positioning technology and mobile positioning services. Based on the positioning request initiator, there are three types of standard positioning services: Mobile Originating Location Request (MO-LR), Mobile Terminating Location Request (MT-LR), and Network Induced Location Request (NI-LR).

[0004] However, in the positioning service, the access and mobility management function (AMF) queries and obtains the location management function (LMF) separately, and queries and obtains the gateway mobile location center (GMLC) device. Currently, in the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) standard, the AMF cannot select the LMF designated by the GMLC, or the LMF and GMLC deployed in the same location area. Summary of the Invention

[0005] The embodiments of this application provide a communication method and a communication device for selecting a suitable network element for positioning, so as to improve information security. [Means for solving the problem]

[0006] According to a first aspect, a communication method is provided. The method may be performed by a first LMF, or may be performed by a component (e.g., a chip or a circuit) of the first LMF. This is not limited here. For ease of explanation, the following uses an example in which the method is performed by the first LMF for explanation.

[0007] The method may include: a first LMF receives first positioning request information from an AMF, the first positioning request information includes an identifier of a GMLC requesting location information, the location information is a location of a terminal device, the first LMF determines whether to allow a positioning request from the GMLC requesting location information based on the identifier of the GMLC requesting location information, the first LMF sends first positioning request response information to the AMF, and the first positioning request response information is used to inform the AMF whether the positioning request for the terminal device is allowed.

[0008] Based on this solution, the first LMF determines whether to allow a positioning request from a GMLC requesting location information based on an identifier of the GMLC requesting location information from the AMF, and feeds back the determination result to the AMF. In the method, the first LMF can determine whether the GMLC requesting location information is a GMLC deployed with the first LMF to determine whether to allow the positioning request. This further avoids positioning requests for other devices to ensure the security of device information.

[0009] In relation to the first aspect, in some implementations of the first aspect, determining whether the first LMF should allow a positioning request from the GMLC requesting the location information based on an identifier of the GMLC requesting the location information includes the first LMF determining an association relationship based on the identifier of the GMLC requesting the location information, and the first LMF determining whether to allow a positioning request from the GMLC requesting the location information based on the association relationship, wherein the association relationship indicates whether the first LMF and the GMLC requesting the location information belong to the same device or the same enterprise device.

[0010] Based on the solution, the first LMF can determine whether the GMLC requesting location information is a GMLC deployed together with the first LMF by using a method for determining an association aspect to increase the flexibility of the solution.

[0011] In relation to the first aspect, in some implementations of the first aspect, the first LMF determining an association relationship based on an identifier of a GMLC requesting location information includes the first LMF determining an association relationship based on an identifier of a first GMLC corresponding to the first LMF and an identifier of the GMLC requesting location information, wherein the first GMLC and the first LMF belong to the same device or the same enterprise user.

[0012] Based on the solution, the first LMF may determine an association relationship based on an identifier of the first GMLC (e.g., a network instance identifier of the first GMLC, an FQDN of the first GMLC, or a GMLC relationship list associated with the first LMF) and an identifier of the GMLC requesting location information, to increase the flexibility of the solution.

[0013] In relation to the first aspect, in some implementations of the first aspect, determining whether the first LMF should allow a positioning request from a GMLC requesting the location information based on an association relationship includes the first LMF allowing the positioning request from the GMLC requesting the location information if the association relationship is that the first LMF and the GMLC requesting the location information belong to the same device or the same enterprise device.

[0014] Based on this solution, the first LMF can allow positioning requests from the GMLC of the same device or the same enterprise device to ensure the security of device information.

[0015] In relation to the first aspect, in some implementations of the first aspect, the method further includes the first LMF determining location information, and the first positioning request response information includes the location information.

[0016] Based on this solution, the first LMF can send location information of the terminal device initiating the positioning request to the AMF via the first positioning request response information, so that the AMF feeds back the location information to the terminal device.

[0017] In relation to the first aspect, in some implementations of the first aspect, determining whether the first LMF should allow a positioning request from a GMLC requesting the location information based on an association relationship includes the first LMF not allowing a positioning request from a GMLC requesting the location information if the association relationship is such that the first LMF and the GMLC requesting the location information do not belong to the same device or the same enterprise device.

[0018] Based on this solution, the first LMF can reject positioning requests from GMLCs of different devices or different enterprise devices to ensure the security of device information.

[0019] In relation to the first aspect, in some implementations of the first aspect, determining whether the first LMF should allow a positioning request from a GMLC requesting the location information based on an identifier of the GMLC requesting the location information includes the first LMF sending authentication information to the first GMLC, the first LMF receiving an authentication result from the first GMLC, and the first LMF determining whether the GMLC requesting the location information should be allowed to perform positioning based on the authentication result, wherein the first GMLC and the first LMF belong to the same device or the same enterprise user, and the first positioning request information further includes authentication information, and the authentication information is used to determine whether to allow the positioning request from the GMLC requesting the location information.

[0020] Based on this solution, the first LMF requests the first GMLC to perform a second check on the GMLC requesting the location information to determine whether the GMLC requesting the location information is deployed on the same device or the same enterprise device, thus improving the accuracy of the check in the manner of the second check.

[0021] In relation to the first aspect, in some implementations of the first aspect, determining whether the first LMF should allow a positioning request from the GMLC requesting the location information based on an identifier of the GMLC requesting the location information includes determining whether the first LMF should allow a positioning request from the GMLC requesting the location information based on authentication information.

[0022] Based on the solution, the first LMF may determine whether to allow a positioning request from a GMLC requesting location information based on the authentication result of the first GMLC, in order to increase the flexibility of the solution.

[0116] To facilitate understanding of the embodiments of this application, a network architecture applicable to the embodiments of this application will first be described in detail with reference to FIG.

[0117] For example, Figure 1 is a schematic diagram of a network architecture applicable to one embodiment of this application. As shown in Figure 1, for example, the network architecture may include, but is not limited to, a (radio) access network ((R)AN) device, an access and mobility management function (AMF), a network exposure function (NEF), an application function (AF), a location management function (LMF), a unified data management (UDM), a gateway mobile location center (GMLC), a location retrieval function (LRF), and a user equipment (UE).

[0118] The network elements shown in FIG. 1 are briefly described below.

[0119] 1. A UE may also be called a terminal device, access terminal, subscriber unit, subscriber station, mobile station, mobile console, remote station, remote terminal, mobile device, user terminal, terminal, wireless communication device, user agent, or user equipment.

[0120] The terminal device may be a device that provides voice / data to a user, for example a handheld device or an in-vehicle device with wireless connectivity. Currently, some terminals include, for example, a mobile phone, a tablet computer, a notebook computer, a palmtop computer, a mobile internet device (MID), a wearable device, a virtual reality (VR) device, an augmented reality (AR) device, a wireless terminal of industrial control, a wireless terminal of self driving, a wireless terminal of remote medical surgery, a wireless terminal of smart grid, a wireless terminal of transportation safety, a wireless terminal of smart city, a wireless terminal of smart home, a cellular telephone, a cordless telephone, a session initiation protocol (SIP) telephone, a wireless local loop (WLL) station, a personal digital assistant (PDA), a handheld device or a computing device with wireless communication capability, or other processing device connected to a wireless modem, a wearable device, a terminal device of a 5G network, or a future evolved public land mobile network (PLAN). A terminal device of a PLMN (Provisional Local Network), which is not limited in the embodiment of this application.

[0121] By way of example and not limitation, in the embodiments of this application, the terminal device may alternatively be a wearable device. A wearable device may also be called a wearable intelligent device, which is a collective term for wearable devices that are intelligently designed and developed for daily wear using wearable technology, such as glasses, gloves, watches, clothing, and shoes. A wearable device is a portable device that can be directly attached to the body or integrated into the user's clothing or accessories. A wearable device is not just a hardware device, but can implement powerful functions through software support, data exchange, and cloud interaction. General-purpose wearable smart devices include full-featured large devices that can implement full or partial functions without relying on a smartphone, such as a smart watch or smart glasses, and devices that focus only on certain application functions and need to work with other devices, such as a smartphone, such as various smart bands or smart jewelry for monitoring physical symptoms.

[0122] In addition, the terminal device of the embodiment of this application may alternatively be a terminal device in an IoT system. IoT is an important part of the development of next-generation information technology. The main technical feature of IoT is to connect things to a network using communication technology to implement an intelligent network for interconnection between people and machines and between things.

[0123] It should be noted that the terminal device and the access network device can communicate with each other using an air interface technology (e.g., NR technology or LTE technology). The terminal device and the terminal device can communicate with each other using an air interface technology (e.g., NR technology or LTE technology).

[0124] In an embodiment of this application, an apparatus configured to perform the functions of a terminal device may be a terminal device, or may be an apparatus capable of supporting a terminal device in performing functions, such as a chip system or a chip. The apparatus may be integrated into a terminal device. In an embodiment of this application, a chip system may include a chip, or may include a chip and other individual components.

[0125] 2. (R)AN device may provide a function to access a communication network for authorized users in a particular area, and may specifically include a wireless network device in a 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP) network, or may include an access point in a non-3GPP network. For ease of explanation, hereinafter, AN device is used for expression.

[0126] AN devices may use different radio access technologies. Currently, there are two types of radio access technologies: 3GPP access technologies (e.g., radio access technologies used in 3rd generation (3G), 4th generation (4G), or 5G systems) and non-3GPP access technologies. 3GPP access technologies are access technologies that comply with 3GPP standard specifications. For example, access network devices in 5G systems are called next generation Node Base stations (gNBs) or RAN devices. Non-3GPP access technologies may include air interface technologies represented by access points (APs) in wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi), worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX), code division multiple access (CDMA), etc. AN devices may enable interworking between terminal devices and 3GPP core networks by using non-3GPP technologies.

[0127] The AN device may be responsible for air interface side functions such as radio resource management, Quality of Service (QoS) management, data compression and encryption, etc. The AN device provides access services to terminal devices, and further completes the transfer of control signals and user data between the terminal devices and the core network.

[0128] For example, the AN device may include, but is not limited to, a macro base station, a micro base station (also called a small cell), a radio network controller (RNC), a NodeB (NodeB, NB), a base station controller (BSC), a base transceiver station (BTS), a home NodeB (e.g., home evolved NodeB, or home NodeB, HNB), a baseband unit (BBU), an AP in a Wi-Fi system, a wireless relay node, a wireless backhaul node, a transmission point (TP), or a transmission and reception point (TRP). Alternatively, the AN device may include a gNB or a transmission point (TRP or TP) of a 5G (e.g., NR) system, or one antenna panel or a group of antenna panels (including multiple antenna panels) of a base station of a 5G system. Alternatively, the AN device may include a network node constituting a gNB or a transmission point, such as a distributed unit (DU), or a base station of a next-generation 6G communication system. The particular technology used by the AN device and the particular device configuration are not limited to the embodiments of this application.

[0129] 3. The access management network element is mainly used for functions such as access control, mobility management, and attachment and detachment. The access management network element may further act as an anchor for the connection between N1 signaling (i.e., N1 interface signaling, referred to as N1 signaling for brevity) and N2 signaling (i.e., N2 interface signaling, referred to as N2 signaling for brevity) and provide routing of N1 / N2 session management (SM) messages to the session management network element. The access management network element may further maintain and manage the status information of the UE.

[0130] In the 5G communication system, the access management network element may be an AMF. In future communication systems, the access management network element may still be an AMF, or may have other names, which is not limited in this application.

[0131] 4. The network capability exposure network element is mainly configured to manage the exposure network data and external applications. The network exposure network element can provide corresponding security guarantees to ensure security from external applications to 3GPP networks, and provide functions such as external application quality of service (QoS) customization capability exposure, mobility status event subscription, and AF request delivery.

[0132] In a 5G communication system, the network exposure network element may be a NEF. In future communication systems, the network exposure network element may still be a NEF or may have other names, which is not limited in this application.

[0133] 5. The application network element is mainly configured to serve the 3GPP network, for example, to interact with the policy control network element to perform policy control.

[0134] In the 5G communication system, the application network element may be an AF. In future communication systems, the application network element may still be an AF, or may have other names, which is not limited in this application.

[0135] 6. The location management network element is mainly configured to manage all resources used for UE positioning and calculate the final positioning result and accuracy. The location management network element is further configured to connect to the AMF via an NL1 interface for various UE positioning signaling transmissions. The location management network element is further configured to negotiate positioning capabilities with the UE, send assistance data, and request positioning according to the long-term evolution positioning protocol (LPP). The location management network element is further configured to exchange RAN positioning information with the RAN according to the new radio positioning protocol a (NRPPa).

[0136] In a 5G communication system, the location management network element may be an LMF. In future communication systems, the location management network element may still be an LMF or may have other names, which is not limited in this application.

[0137] 7. The data management network element is mainly configured to manage subscription data of the UE, including storing and managing UE identifiers, access permissions of the UE, etc. The data management network element can further generate 3GPP authentication credentials for the UE. The data management network element can further register and maintain the network element currently serving the UE (e.g., the AMF represented by AMFID 1 is the current serving AMF of the UE).

[0138] In the 5G communication system, the data management network element may be UDM. In future communication systems, the unified data management may still be UDM or may have other names, which is not limited in this application.

[0139] 8. The gateway mobile location center network element sends a positioning request to the AMF via the NL2 interface and returns the positioning result to the positioning center.

[0140] In a 5G communication system, the gateway mobile location center network element may be a GMLC. In future communication systems, the gateway mobile location center network element may still be a GMLC or may have other names, which is not limited in this application.

[0141] 9. The location function network element, which may be configured with GMLC or separately, is responsible for obtaining or verifying location information and providing routing and related information to the UE that has initiated the emergency session.

[0142] In the 5G communication system, the location location network element may be an LRF. In future communication systems, the location location network element may still be an LRF or may have other names, which is not limited in this application.

[0143] In the network architecture shown in Figure 1, network elements can communicate with each other via interfaces shown in the figure, and some interfaces can be implemented in the manner of service-based interfaces. As shown in Figure 1, UE and AMF can communicate with each other via N1 interface. RAN and AMF can communicate with each other via N2 interface. Relationships between other interfaces and network elements are shown in Figure 1. For the sake of brevity, details will not be described in this specification.

[0144] It should be further understood that the above network architectures are merely examples for illustration purposes, and the network architectures to which the embodiments of this application are applicable are not limited thereto. Any network architecture capable of implementing the functions of the network elements is applicable to the embodiments of this application.

[0145] It should be further understood that the AMF, UDM, LMF, NEF, LRF, GMLC, etc. shown in Figure 1 may be understood as network elements configured to implement different functions, and may be combined into a network slice, for example, as needed. These network elements may be independent devices, may be integrated into the same device to perform different functions, may be network elements in a hardware device, may be software functions running on dedicated hardware, or may be virtualized functions instantiated on a platform (e.g., a cloud platform). The specific form of the network elements is not limited in this application.

[0146] It should be further understood that one or more services may be obtained by dividing into network elements or functions. Furthermore, there may be services independent of network functions. In this application, an instance of a function, an instance of a service included in a function, or an instance of a service independent of a network function may be referred to as a service instance. Furthermore, in actual deployment, network elements having different functions may be co-deployed. For example, an access and mobility management network element and a session management network element may be co-deployed, and a session management network element and a user plane network element may be co-deployed. When two network elements are co-located, the interaction between the two network elements provided in the embodiments of this application may be the internal operation of the co-located network element or may be omitted.

[0147] It should be further understood that the above names are defined merely to distinguish different functions and should not constitute any limitation to this application. This application does not exclude the possibility of using other names in 6G networks and other future networks. For example, in a 6G network, some or all of the network elements may still use 5G terminology or may use other names.

[0148] It should be further understood that the names of the interfaces between the network elements in Figure 1 are merely examples, and that the interfaces may have other names in a particular implementation, which is not specifically limited in this application, and the names of the messages (or signaling) transmitted between the network elements are merely examples, and do not limit the functionality of the messages.

[0149] In order to facilitate understanding of the embodiments of this application, a brief description of terms or techniques in this application will be provided.

[0150] 1. Location service (LCS) The positioning service architecture of the 5G network has four parts: terminal device, radio access network RAN, core network, and positioning APP. The core network includes AMF, UDM, GMLC, and LMF network elements. GMLC and LRF may be deployed convergently or separately. GMLC communicates with AMF via NL2 interface, and LMF communicates with AMF via NL1 interface. The positioning APP, i.e., LCS Client, is an external application that triggers the positioning function.

[0151] Based on the positioning request initiator, there are three types of standard positioning services: Mobile Originating Location Request (MO-LR), Mobile Terminating Location Request (MT-LR), and Network Induced Location Request (NI-LR).

[0152] 2. Mobile Termination Location Request MT-LR is any positioning request sent from a location service client LCS Client to an LCS Server. This method provides a passive inquiry mechanism for the party for which positioning is performed. The MT-LR request mode is the most common mode because the LCS can be used to develop various specific applications based on the positioning capabilities of the operator network, and users can identify their positioning requests based on various positioning service access modes.

[0153] It should be noted that all terms or techniques are prior art and are not limiting.

[0154] The term "and / or" in this specification is merely an association relationship to describe related objects, and indicates that three relationships may exist. For example, A and / or B may represent the following three cases: only A exists, both A and B exist, and only B exists. In addition, the character " / " in this specification generally indicates an "or" relationship between related objects.

[0155] The above is a brief description of the terms used in this application, and the details will not be described in the following embodiments. Hereinafter, the communication method provided in the embodiments of this application will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. The embodiments provided in this application can be applied to the network architecture shown in Figure 1. This is not limited.

[0156] Based on the network architecture shown in FIG. 1, when performing a positioning service, the AMF queries and obtains the LMF and GMLC devices separately. Currently, in the 3GPP standard, the AMF cannot select the LMF designated by the GMLC or the LMF and GMLC deployed in the same location area. Therefore, in the positioning service, in order to ensure information security, how to select the LMF and GMLC that are in the same location area or deployed on the same device to perform positioning becomes an urgent problem to be solved in the industry.

[0157] This application provides a communication method for selecting an appropriate network element for positioning to improve information security. Hereinafter, the communication method provided in the embodiment of this application will be described with reference to Figs. 2 to 5.

[0158] 2 is a schematic diagram of a communication method 200 according to an embodiment of this application. The method 200 may include the following steps.

[0159] S201: A GMLC requesting location information sends a positioning request to the AMF.

[0160] In response, the AMF receives a positioning request from the GMLC requesting location information.

[0161] It should be understood that after the terminal device triggers a positioning request, the GMLC to which the terminal device belongs, i.e., the GMLC requesting the location information, sends a positioning request to the AMF to request to obtain the location information. The location information is the location of the terminal device. The location information may be information such as longitude, latitude, altitude, etc. This is not limited.

[0162] The positioning request includes an identifier of the GMLC requesting the location information. It should be understood that the identifier of the GMLC requesting the location information is information that uniquely identifies the GMLC to which the terminal device belongs. In other words, an enterprise can define whether two GMLCs belong to the same device based on the identifier. The identifier of the GMLC requesting the location information may be a network element instance identifier of the GMLC to which the terminal device belongs, may be a hostname of the GMLC to which the terminal device belongs, may be a fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the GMLC to which the terminal device belongs, etc. This is not limited.

[0163] Furthermore, after receiving the positioning request, the AMF determines the address of the first LMF corresponding to the GMLC requesting the location information, and requests the location information from the first LMF. The method procedure shown in FIG. 2 further includes the following steps.

[0164] S202: The AMF obtains the address of the first LMF corresponding to the GMLC requesting location information.

[0165] It should be understood that after receiving a positioning request from a GMLC requesting location information, the AMF obtains the address of the first LMF corresponding to the GMLC requesting location information based on the identifier of the GMLC requesting location information.

[0166] It should be understood that the first LMF and the first GMLC belong to the same device or the same enterprise device. In other words, the first LMF and the first GMLC are deployed at the same physical location. In other words, the first LMF and the first GMLC are in the same group of network elements serving the same device or the same enterprise device. The identifier of the first LMF corresponds to the identifier of the first GMLC. In other words, the identifier of the first GMLC corresponding to the identifier of the first LMF may be determined based on the identifier of the first LMF, or the identifier of the first LMF corresponding to the identifier of the first GMLC may be determined based on the identifier of the first GMLC.

[0167] The identifier of the first LMF may be a network element instance identifier of the first LMF, may be a host name of the first LMF, etc. This is not limited. The identifier of the first GMLC may be a network element instance identifier of the first GMLC, may be a host name of the first LMF, etc. This is not limited.

[0168] In a possible embodiment, when a user is registered, the subscription information of the terminal device includes the address of the first LMF or an identifier of the first LMF, and the AMF obtains the subscription information in the registration procedure, and the AMF searches the subscription information for the address of the first LMF corresponding to the GMLC requesting the location information based on the identifier of the GMLC requesting the location information.

[0169] Optionally, the subscription information may further include an address of the first GMLC or an identifier of the first GMLC. Based on the identifier of the GMLC requesting the location information, the AMF searches the subscription information for an identifier of the first GMLC that is the same as the identifier of the GMLC requesting the location information, and then searches for an address of the first LMF corresponding to the first GMLC based on the identifier of the first GMLC.

[0170] In another possible embodiment, when sending a positioning request to the AMF, the GMLC requesting location information simultaneously sends the address of the first LMF or the identifier of the first LMF to the AMF.

[0171] Optionally, when the GMLC requesting location information sends an identifier of the first LMF to the AMF, the AMF obtains the address of the first LMF based on the identifier of the first LMF.

[0172] In addition, the AMF requests the first LMF to obtain location information. The method procedure shown in Figure 2 further includes the following steps.

[0173] S203: The AMF sends first positioning request information to the first LMF.

[0174] In response, the first LMF receives first positioning request information from the AMF.

[0175] It should be understood that the AMF sends the first positioning request information to the first LMF based on the address of the first LMF.

[0176] The first positioning request information includes an identifier of the GMLC requesting location information.

[0177] In addition, the first LMF determines whether to allow a positioning request from a GMLC requesting location information. The method procedure shown in FIG.

[0178] S204: The first LMF determines whether to allow a positioning request from the GMLC requesting the location information based on the identifier of the GMLC requesting the location information.

[0179] It should be understood that after receiving the first positioning request information from the AMF, the first LMF determines an association relationship based on the identifier of the GMLC requesting the position information in the first positioning request information. The association relationship indicates whether the first LMF and the GMLC requesting the position information belong to the same device or belong to the same enterprise device. If the association relationship is that the first LMF and the GMLC requesting the position information belong to the same device or belong to the same enterprise device, the first LMF allows the positioning request from the GMLC requesting the position information, and the first LMF determines the position information of the terminal device. If the association relationship is that the first LMF and the GMLC requesting the position information do not belong to the same device or belong to the same enterprise device, the first LMF does not allow the positioning request from the GMLC requesting the position information.

[0180] In addition, the first LMF feeds back to the AMF the determination result of whether the positioning request is allowed. The method procedure shown in Figure 2 further includes the following steps.

[0181] S205: The first LMF sends the first positioning request response information to the AMF.

[0182] In response, the AMF receives first positioning request response information from the first LMF.

[0183] The first positioning request response information is used to inform the AMF whether the positioning request for the terminal device is allowed.

[0184] Optionally, when the first positioning request response information is used to notify the AMF that the positioning request for the terminal device is allowed, the first positioning request response information includes location information.

[0185] According to the method provided in the embodiment, after receiving a positioning request, the AMF obtains an address of a first LMF corresponding to the GMLC requesting the positioning information based on the identifier of the GMLC requesting the positioning information, and the first LMF determines whether to allow the positioning request from the GMLC requesting the positioning information based on the identifier of the GMLC requesting the positioning information. In this method, the AMF can search for the first LMF corresponding to the GMLC based on the identifier of the GMLC requesting the positioning information and transfer the identifier of the GMLC requesting the positioning information to the first LMF, so that the first LMF can determine whether the GMLC requesting the positioning information is a GMLC deployed with the first LMF and determine whether to allow the positioning request. This allows the selection of LMFs and GMLCs in the same location area for positioning in the positioning service to improve information security.

[0186] For ease of understanding, the communication method described in FIG. 2 will be further explained below with reference to FIGS.

[0187] It should be noted that the names of messages between network elements, the names of parameters in messages, etc. in the following embodiments of this application are merely examples, and other names may exist in specific implementations, which are not specifically limited in the embodiments of this application.

[0188] It should be noted that steps in the following embodiments of this application may also be cross-referenced, and terms and concepts may also be cross-referenced, which are not specifically limited in the embodiments of this application.

[0189] 3 is a schematic diagram of a communication method 300 according to an embodiment of the present application. The method 300 may include the following steps.

[0190] S301: AMF obtains subscription information.

[0191] It should be understood that when an operator system registers a user, information about the first LMF to which the user belongs is conveyed. After the registration is completed, the subscription information of the terminal device includes information about the first LMF. After the terminal device initiates a registration request, the AMF obtains the subscription information in the registration procedure.

[0192] The information about the first LMF includes an identifier of the first LMF, such as, but not limited to, a network element instance identifier of the first LMF or a host name of the first LMF.

[0193] Optionally, the information about the first LMF may further include an identifier of the first GMLC, an address of the first LMF, an FQDN of the first LMF, etc. This is not limited. The identifier of the first GMLC may be a network element instance identifier of the first GMLC, a hostname of the first LMF, etc. This is not limited.

[0194] It should be understood that the first LMF and the first GMLC belong to the same device or the same enterprise device.

[0195] Furthermore, after triggering the positioning request, the terminal device indicates to the GMLC to request the AMF to obtain the location information. The method procedure shown in FIG.

[0196] S302: The GMLC requesting location information sends a positioning request to the AMF.

[0197] In response, the AMF receives a positioning request from the GMLC requesting location information.

[0198] The process of S302 is the same as S201, and to avoid repetition, detailed description will be omitted in this specification.

[0199] Furthermore, after receiving the positioning request, the AMF determines the address of the first LMF corresponding to the GMLC requesting the location information, and requests the location information from the first LMF. The method procedure shown in FIG. 3 further includes the following steps.

[0200] S303: The AMF obtains the address of the first LMF corresponding to the GMLC requesting location information.

[0201] It should be understood that after receiving a positioning request from a GMLC requesting location information, the AMF searches the subscription information for the address of the first LMF corresponding to the GMLC requesting location information based on the identifier of the GMLC requesting location information.

[0202] Optionally, if the subscription information includes an identifier of the first GMLC, the AMF requests a network repository function (NRF) to obtain the address of the first LMF.

[0203] Optionally, if the subscription information includes the FQDN of the first LMF, the AMF requests a domain name system (DNS) to query the address of the first LMF.

[0204] Optionally, if the subscription information includes an identifier of the first LMF, the AMF obtains an address of the first LMF from the local device configuration based on the identifier of the first LMF.

[0205] In addition, the AMF requests the first LMF to obtain location information. The method procedure shown in Figure 3 further includes the following steps.

[0206] S304: The AMF sends first positioning request information to the first LMF.

[0207] In response, the first LMF receives first positioning request information from the AMF.

[0208] The process of S304 is the same as that of S203, and to avoid repetition, detailed description thereof will be omitted in this specification.

[0209] Furthermore, after receiving the positioning request, the first LMF determines whether the GMLC requesting the location information is deployed in the same manner as the first LMF. The method procedure shown in FIG. 3 further includes the following steps.

[0210] S305 is optional. S305: The first LMF determines the association relationship.

[0211] It should be understood that after receiving the first positioning request information from the AMF, the first LMF determines an association relationship based on the identifier of the GMLC requesting the location information in the first positioning request information. The association relationship indicates whether the first LMF and the GMLC requesting the location information belong to the same device or the same enterprise device.

[0212] In a possible embodiment, the first LMF determines the association relationship based on the network instance identifier of the first GMLC and the identifier of the GMLC requesting the location information. Specifically, the network instance identifier is in UUID version 4 format (RFC 4122), has a total of 128 bits, includes 32 hexadecimal digits, and is divided into five segments of identifiers, specifically, time-low "-", time-mid "-", time-high-and-version "-", clock-seq-and-reserved clock-seq-low "-", and node. The node is 48 bits and includes 6 bytes (8 octets). The code rules that can be developed are as follows:

[0213] [Table 1]

[0214] It should be understood that the identifier of the GMLC requesting location information has a total of 128 bits. The first LMF compares the network instance identifier of the first GMLC with the identifier of the GMLC requesting location information in order from left to right. If the two identifiers are the same, the association relationship is that the first LMF and the GMLC requesting location information belong to the same device or the same enterprise device. Conversely, if the two identifiers are different, the association relationship is that the first LMF and the GMLC requesting location information do not belong to the same device or the same enterprise device.

[0215] In a possible embodiment, if the identifier of the GMLC requesting location information is the FQDN of the GMLC requesting location information, the first LMF determines an association relationship based on the FQDN of the first GMLC and the FQDN of the GMLC requesting location information.

[0216] Specifically, both the FQDN of the first GMLC and the FQDN of the GMLC requesting location information include three fields, where the first field indicates whether to configure and preferentially select the topologically closest node, the second field is used to name the identifier of a specific interface on the node, and the third field is the canonical node name of the specific node. The first LMF compares the third field of the FQDN of the first GMLC with the third field of the FQDN of the GMLC requesting location information. If the two third fields are the same, the association relationship is that the first LMF and the GMLC requesting location information belong to the same device or the same enterprise device. Conversely, if the two third fields are different, the association relationship is that the first LMF and the GMLC requesting location information do not belong to the same device or the same enterprise device.

[0217] In a possible embodiment, the first LMF determines the association relationship based on a GMLC relationship list associated with the first LMF and an identifier of the GMLC requesting the location information. Specifically, the first LMF locally configures a GMLC relationship list associated with the first LMF. The GMLC relationship list may be a list of network instance identifiers of GMLCs authorized for positioning, addresses of GMLCs authorized for positioning, or FQDNs of GMLCs authorized for positioning. This is not limited. The first LMF queries the GMLC relationship list. If the relationship list includes an identifier of the GMLC requesting the location information, the association relationship is that the first LMF and the GMLC requesting the location information belong to the same device or the same enterprise device. Conversely, if the relationship list does not include an identifier of the GMLC requesting the location information, the association relationship is that the first LMF and the GMLC requesting the location information do not belong to the same device or the same enterprise device.

[0218] In addition, the first LMF determines whether to allow a positioning request from a GMLC requesting location information. The method procedure shown in FIG.

[0219] S306: The first LMF decides whether to allow a positioning request from a GMLC requesting location information.

[0220] It should be understood that if the association relationship is that the first LMF and the GMLC requesting the location information belong to the same device or the same enterprise device, the first LMF allows the positioning request from the GMLC requesting the location information, or if the association relationship is that the first LMF and the GMLC requesting the location information do not belong to the same device or the same enterprise device, the first LMF does not allow the positioning request from the GMLC requesting the location information.

[0221] S307 is optional. S307: The first LMF determines the location information.

[0222] It should be understood that when the first LMF authorizes a positioning request from a GMLC that requests location information, the first LMF determines the location information. The location information indicates the location of the terminal device where the positioning request is initiated. The location information may be information such as longitude, latitude, and altitude. This is not limited.

[0223] In addition, the determination result of whether the positioning request is allowed is fed back to the AMF. The method procedure shown in Figure 3 further includes the following steps.

[0224] S308: The first LMF sends the first positioning request response information to the AMF.

[0225] In response, the AMF receives first positioning request response information from the first LMF.

[0226] The first positioning request response information is used to inform the AMF whether the positioning request for the terminal device is allowed.

[0227] S309 is optional. S309: AMF obtains location information.

[0228] Optionally, when the first positioning request response information is used to notify the AMF that the positioning request for the terminal device is allowed, it should be understood that the first positioning request response information includes location information and the AMF obtains the location information.

[0229] In addition, the AMF feeds back the determination result of whether the positioning request is allowed to the GMLC requesting the location information. The method procedure shown in Figure 3 further includes the following steps.

[0230] S310 is optional. S310: The AMF sends the location information to the GMLC requesting the location information.

[0231] It should be understood that after the AMF obtains the location information, the AMF sends the location information to the GMLC requesting the location information.

[0232] Based on this solution, information about the first LMF and the first GMLC serving the terminal device is carried in the subscription data during the user's registration, so that the AMF can obtain the LMF and GMLC belonging to the same device or the same enterprise device in a subsequent procedure of searching for the LMF. Furthermore, the identifier of the GMLC requesting the location information is forwarded to the first LMF, so that the first LMF can determine whether the GMLC and the first LMF requesting the location information belong to the same device or the same enterprise device, and further avoid positioning requests for other devices. This ensures the security of the device information.

[0233] In this method, the first LMF determines whether the GMLC requesting the location information and the first LMF belong to the same device or the same enterprise device. In order to improve security, an authentication procedure between the first LMF and the first GMLC can be added, and the first GMLC verifies again whether the GMLC requesting the location information and the first LMF belong to the same device or the same enterprise device, so as to further ensure the security of the device information in a double authentication manner. The following provides a detailed description with reference to FIG. 4.

[0234] 4 is a schematic diagram of a communication method 400 according to an embodiment of the present application. The method 400 may include the following steps.

[0235] S401: A GMLC requesting location information sends a positioning request to the AMF.

[0236] In response, the AMF receives a positioning request from the GMLC requesting location information.

[0237] It should be understood that after the terminal device is successfully registered and the terminal device triggers a positioning request, the GMLC to which the terminal device belongs, i.e., the GMLC requesting the location information, sends a positioning request to the AMF to request to obtain location information. The location information is the location of the terminal device. The location information may be information such as longitude, latitude, altitude, etc. This is not limited.

[0238] The positioning request includes information about the first LMF, an identifier of the GMLC requesting location information, and authentication information.

[0239] The information about the first LMF includes an address of the first LMF or an FQDN of the first LMF. It should be understood that the first LMF and the first GMLC belong to the same device or the same enterprise device. In other words, the first LMF and the first GMLC are deployed at the same physical location. In other words, the first LMF and the first GMLC are in the same group of network elements serving the same device or the same enterprise device. The FQDN of the first LMF corresponds to the FQDN of the first GMLC. In other words, the FQDN of the first GMLC corresponding to the FQDN of the first LMF may be determined based on the FQDN of the first LMF, or the FQDN of the first LMF corresponding to the FQDN of the first GMLC may be determined based on the FQDN of the first GMLC.

[0240] The identifier of the GMLC requesting location information is information that uniquely identifies the GMLC to which the terminal device belongs. In other words, the enterprise can define whether two GMLCs belong to the same device based on the identifier. The identifier of the GMLC requesting location information may be the network element instance identifier of the GMLC to which the terminal device belongs, may be the host name of the GMLC to which the terminal device belongs, may be the FQDN of the GMLC to which the terminal device belongs, etc. This is not limited.

[0241] The authentication information is used to determine whether a positioning request from a GMLC requesting location information is authorized. It should be understood that any GMLC can generate a dedicated authentication information. The authentication information may be generated by the GMLC using an encryption key and encryption algorithm, may be generated by the GMLC using an integrity protection algorithm and integrity protection key, or may be generated by the GMLC using a specified integrity protection algorithm, a specified encryption algorithm, and a specified key. This is not limited.

[0242] It should be understood that the authentication information may be replaced by other names, such as check information. If the function and content of the information are the same or equivalent to the service discovery function selection information, they fall within the scope of protection of this application. This is not limited.

[0243] Furthermore, after receiving the positioning request, the AMF determines the address of the first LMF corresponding to the GMLC requesting the location information, and requests the location information from the first LMF. The method procedure shown in FIG. 4 further includes the following steps.

[0244] S402: The AMF obtains the address of the first LMF corresponding to the GMLC requesting location information.

[0245] Optionally, if the information about the first LMF includes the FQDN of the first LMF or the hostname of the first LMF, the AMF requests the DNS to query the address of the first LMF.

[0246] Optionally, if the information about the first LMF includes the address of the first LMF, the AMF obtains the address of the first LMF directly.

[0247] In addition, the AMF requests the first LMF to obtain location information. The method procedure shown in Figure 4 further includes the following steps.

[0248] S403: The AMF sends first positioning request information to the first LMF.

[0249] In response, the first LMF receives first positioning request information from the AMF.

[0250] It should be understood that the AMF sends the first positioning request information to the first LMF based on the address of the first LMF.

[0251] The first positioning request information includes an identifier of the GMLC requesting location information and authentication information.

[0252] In addition, the first LMF determines whether to allow a positioning request from a GMLC requesting location information. The method procedure shown in FIG.

[0253] S404: The first LMF determines whether to allow a positioning request from a GMLC requesting location information.

[0254] In a possible embodiment, the first LMF determines whether to allow a positioning request from a GMLC requesting location information based on the authentication information. Specifically, the first LMF and the first GMLC store the same encryption algorithm, integrity protection algorithm, encryption key, and integrity protection key, and the first LMF performs a validity check on the authentication information.

[0255] In a possible embodiment, the first LMF and the first GMLC belong to the same device, and the first LMF requests the first GMLC, via an internal interface, to check the authentication information.

[0256] In a possible embodiment, the first LMF sends authentication information to the first GMLC, and the first GMLC determines whether to allow a positioning request from the GMLC requesting location information based on the authentication information, and feeds back the authentication result to the first LMF.

[0257] S405 is optional. S405: The first LMF sends the authentication information to the first GMLC.

[0258] The first LMF obtains the address of the first GMLC based on the identifier of the first LMF, and sends authentication information to the first GMLC.

[0259] S406 is optional. S406: The first GMLC decides the authentication result.

[0260] The first GMLC determines an authentication result based on the authentication information.

[0261] Specifically, if the authentication information is valid or is authentication information generated by the first GMLC, the first GMLC determines that the authentication result is that the positioning request from the GMLC requesting the position information is authorized. If the authentication information is invalid or is not authentication information generated by the first GMLC, the first GMLC determines that the authentication result is that the positioning request from the GMLC requesting the position information is not authorized.

[0262] S407 is optional. S407: The first GMLC sends the authentication result to the first LMF.

[0263] It should be understood that after determining the authentication result, the first GMLC feeds back the authentication result to the first LMF.

[0264] Furthermore, if the first LMF accepts a positioning request from the GMLC requesting the location information, the first LMF determines the location information. The method procedure shown in FIG.

[0265] S408 is optional. S408: The first LMF determines the location information.

[0266] The location information indicates the location of the terminal device that initiated the positioning request, and the location information may be information such as longitude, latitude, or altitude, but is not limited thereto.

[0267] In addition, the determination result of whether the positioning request is allowed is fed back to the AMF. The method procedure shown in Figure 4 further includes the following steps.

[0268] S409: The first LMF sends the first positioning request response information to the AMF.

[0269] In response, the AMF receives first positioning request response information from the first LMF.

[0270] The first positioning request response information is used to inform the AMF whether the positioning request for the terminal device is allowed.

[0271] S410 is optional. S410: The AMF obtains location information.

[0272] Optionally, when the first positioning request response information is used to notify the AMF that the positioning request for the terminal device is allowed, it should be understood that the first positioning request response information includes location information and the AMF obtains the location information.

[0273] In addition, the AMF feeds back the determination result of whether the positioning request is allowed to the GMLC requesting the location information. The method procedure shown in Figure 3 further includes the following steps.

[0274] S411 is optional. S411: The AMF sends the location information to the GMLC requesting the location information.

[0275] It should be understood that after the AMF obtains the location information, the AMF sends the location information to the GMLC requesting the location information.

[0276] Based on the solution, when sending a positioning request, the GMLC requesting the location information carries the GMLC's dedicated authentication information and the address of the corresponding LMF. In this way, the GMLC requesting the location information can directly specify the LMF used by the AMF. Furthermore, the authentication procedure between the LMF and the GMLC is performed to ensure that the enterprise device is used by a non-enterprise user, and the security of the device information is improved.

[0277] 2 to 4 mainly describe the information that information about the first LMF and the first GMLC serving the terminal device is carried in the subscription data during the user's registration, so that the AMF can obtain the LMF and the GMLC belonging to the same device or the same enterprise device in the subsequent procedure of searching for the LMF. In addition, to ensure the security of the device information, an authentication procedure between the LMF and the GMLC is added to further avoid positioning requests for other devices. FIG. 5 mainly describes the information that the policy data information in the registration process of the terminal device carries information about the first LMF and the first GMLC serving the terminal device, so that the AMF can obtain the LMF and the GMLC belonging to the same device or the same enterprise device in the subsequent procedure of searching for the LMF. The following provides a detailed description with reference to FIG. 5.

[0278] 5 is a schematic diagram of a communication method 500 according to an embodiment of the present application. The method 500 may include the following steps.

[0279] S501: A policy control function (PCF) sends policy data information to a terminal device.

[0280] In response, the UE receives policy data information from the PCF.

[0281] It should be understood that the PCF sends the policy data information to the AMF, and the AMF forwards the policy data information to the UE.

[0282] The policy data information includes information about the first LMF, and the information about the first LMF includes an identifier of the first LMF, such as, but not limited to, a network element instance identifier of the first LMF or a host name of the first LMF.

[0283] Optionally, the information about the first LMF may further include an identifier of the first GMLC, an address of the first LMF, an FQDN of the first LMF, etc. This is not limited. The identifier of the first GMLC may be a network element instance identifier of the first GMLC, a hostname of the first LMF, etc. This is not limited.

[0284] It should be understood that the first LMF and the first GMLC belong to the same device or the same enterprise device.

[0285] In addition, after triggering the positioning request, the terminal device requests the AMF to obtain location information. The method procedure shown in Figure 5 further includes the following steps.

[0286] S502: The UE sends second positioning request information to the AMF.

[0287] In response, the AMF receives a positioning request from the UE.

[0288] It should be understood that after the terminal device initiates the emergency registration procedure or the emergency PDU session establishment procedure, the terminal device sends second positioning request information to the AMF to request to obtain location information of the terminal device. The location information may be information such as longitude, latitude, altitude, etc. This is not limited.

[0289] The second positioning request information includes information regarding the first LMF.

[0290] It should be understood that the second positioning request information may alternatively be replaced with other names, such as emergency registration request information or emergency PDU session establishment request information. If the function and content of the information are the same or equal to the service discovery function selection information, they fall within the protection scope of this application. This is not limited.

[0291] Furthermore, after receiving the positioning request, the AMF determines an address of the first LMF deployed in the terminal device to request location information from the first LMF. The method procedure shown in FIG. 5 further includes the following steps.

[0292] S503: The AMF obtains the address of the first LMF.

[0293] It should be understood that the AMF queries the NRF or DNS based on information about the first LMF to obtain the address of the first LMF.

[0294] In addition, the AMF requests the first LMF to obtain location information. The method procedure shown in Figure 5 further includes the following steps.

[0295] S504: The AMF sends third positioning request information to the first LMF.

[0296] In response to this, the first LMF receives third positioning request information from the AMF.

[0297] It should be understood that the AMF sends the third positioning request information to the first LMF based on the address of the first LMF.

[0298] The second positioning request information includes an identifier of the first GMLC.

[0299] Furthermore, after receiving the positioning request, the first LMF determines whether the GMLC requesting the location information is deployed in the same manner as the first LMF. The method procedure shown in FIG. 5 further includes the following steps.

[0300] S505 is optional. S505: The first LMF determines an association relationship.

[0301] It should be understood that after receiving the third positioning request information from the AMF, the first LMF determines an association relationship based on the identifier of the GMLC requesting the location information in the third positioning request information. The association relationship indicates whether the first LMF and the first GMLC belong to the same device or the same enterprise device.

[0302] The process of S505 is the same as S305, and to avoid repetition, detailed description will be omitted in this specification.

[0303] S506: The first LMF determines whether to allow a positioning request for the terminal device.

[0304] The process of S506 is the same as S306, and to avoid repetition, detailed description will be omitted in this specification.

[0305] S507 is optional. S507: The first LMF determines the location information.

[0306] It should be understood that when the first LMF authorizes a positioning request for the terminal device, the first LMF determines location information. The location information indicates the location of the terminal device that initiated the positioning request. The location information may be information such as longitude, latitude, and altitude. This is not limited.

[0307] In addition, the determination result of whether the positioning request is allowed is fed back to the AMF. The method procedure shown in Figure 3 further includes the following steps.

[0308] S508: The first LMF sends third positioning request response information to the AMF.

[0309] In response, the AMF receives third positioning request response information from the first LMF.

[0310] The second positioning request response information is used to inform the AMF whether the positioning request for the terminal device is allowed.

[0311] S509 is optional. S509: The AMF obtains location information.

[0312] Optionally, when the third positioning request response information is used to notify the AMF that the positioning request for the terminal device is allowed, it should be understood that the second positioning request response information includes location information and the AMF obtains the location information.

[0313] S510 is optional. S510: The AMF sends the location information to the first GMLC.

[0314] It should be understood that after obtaining the location information, the AMF requests the NRF or DNS to query the address of the first GMLC based on the policy data information, and the AMF sends the location information to the first GMLC.

[0315] Based on this solution, information about the first LMF and the first GMLC serving the terminal device is carried in the policy data information in the registration process of the terminal device, so that the AMF can obtain the LMF and the GMLC belonging to the same device or the same enterprise device in a subsequent procedure of searching for the LMF. In addition, the first LMF determines whether the first LMF and the GMLC belonging to the terminal device belong to the same device or the same enterprise device, so as to further avoid positioning requests for other devices to ensure device security.
