Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present invention relates to a system, a method and a computer program for performing payments. [Background technology]
[0002] Currently, payments using non-cash payment methods (cashless payments), such as Quick Response (QR) code payments, are being used frequently. With traditional cash payments, money such as paper money and coins is exchanged for goods and services, making it difficult for fraudulent use of money to occur. On the other hand, with cashless payments, there is no exchange of paper money or coins, and payments are made by exchanging information indicating monetary value. When exchanging information indicating monetary value, security is increased by exchanging various pieces of information.
[0003] For example, in static QR code payments, the QR code may be tampered with, which may alter the payment amount and / or information about the product / service provider that receives money in exchange for the provision of the product or service.
[0004] Non-patent document 1 states, "There are two types of QR codes: static QR codes and dynamic QR codes. Printed QR codes are classified as static QR codes. On the other hand, QR codes displayed on smartphones, tablets, etc. are classified as dynamic QR codes. Dynamic QR codes are generated each time, and once displayed, they are updated every few minutes. From a security standpoint, dynamic QR codes are also said to be safer." It is known that dynamic QR codes are used instead of static QR codes to improve security.
[0005] However, even if a dynamic QR code is used, after a user obtains the dynamic QR code, the dynamic QR code can be transferred to another user, and the other user can use the dynamic QR code to make a payment. If the other user is a fraudulent user (such as a user using a third-party payment app), there is a possibility that a payment may be fraudulently made even if a dynamic QR code is used. For example, a payment can be made even if the payment user is not present at the payment site. [Prior art documents] [Non-patent literature]

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0020] [System Overview] FIG. 1 discloses a system according to an embodiment of the present invention. The system 100 includes one or more payment support devices 105, a server device 110, and one or more user terminals 115. The payment support device 105, the server device 110, and the user terminal 115 are connected via wired and / or wireless communication paths. The payment support device 105 may include a point of sales (POS, point of sale information management) register, a vending machine, a self-order device in a restaurant, etc. The server device 110 can communicate with the payment support device 105 and the user terminal 115 via the communication path. The server device 110 can have a cashless payment function. In another embodiment, the server device 110 may cooperate with another device and instruct the other device to perform a cashless payment. The other device may be a computer device of a cashless payment service provider. The server device 110 may be a physical computer device, or may be a device consisting of two or more computer devices. The user terminal 115 may be a mobile phone, a smartphone, a tablet, a laptop computer, a smartwatch, or the like. The user terminal 115 may include any device capable of performing cashless payment. Cashless payment may include any payment that does not use cash using a device such as a smartphone. For example, in one embodiment of the present invention, cashless payment may include code payment using a code that can be acquired by a capture device, such as QR code payment and App Clip Code payment, and contactless payment registered in Apple Pay, Google Pay, a smartphone, or the like. In this embodiment, the capture device may include at least a camera and various sensors such as a temperature sensor, an auditory sensor, and a contact sensor. In another embodiment, contactless payment registered in Apple Pay, Google Pay, a smartphone, or the like may be realized using communication such as WiFi or Near Field Communication (NFC).
[0021] The user can cause server device 110 to execute cashless payment by having user terminal 115 exchange information with payment support device 105 and have user terminal 115 and / or payment support device 105 communicate with server device 110. In the communication between user terminal 115 and / or payment support device 105 and server device 110, presence information indicating that the user is near payment support device 105 is transmitted. Server device 110 can analyze the presence information and determine whether or not the user is near payment support device 105. In cashless payment, server device 110 can detect fraudulent use by a third party who is away from payment support device 105 by checking whether or not the user is near payment support device 105.
[0022] [Hardware configuration] FIG. 2 shows the hardware configuration of the payment support device 105, the server device 110, and the user terminal 115 included in the system 100. The payment support device 105, the server device 110, and one or more user terminals 115 may include a processor 205, a memory 210, a storage 215, an input / output device 220, and a communication device 225. In the payment support device 105, the server device 110, and the user terminal 115, the processor 205 loads a computer program stored in the storage 215 into the memory 210 and executes it. The input / output device 220 includes a touch panel on a display, a keyboard, a mouse, a display device, and the like. A user can input information into a computer using a keyboard or a touch panel, and check the information output on a display device. The payment support device 105, the server device 110, and the user terminal 115 can communicate with at least one of the other devices via the communication device 225 and transmit and receive data thereto. In other embodiments, the payment support device 105, the server device 110, and the user terminal 115 may not include some of the hardware components shown in FIG. 2 and / or may include components other than the hardware components shown in FIG. 2.
[0023] [First Example] FIG. 3 shows a process flow based on the first embodiment of the present invention. The process flow is premised on the premise that a user of the user terminal 115 uses the payment support device 105 to make a payment when purchasing a product or service. First, when the user indicates an intention to pay for the product or service, the payment support device 105 provides the user with payment information (step 305). The provision of the user's payment information from the payment support device 105 may be initiated by the user operating the payment support device 105. In another embodiment, the provision of the payment information may be initiated by the provider of the product or service operating the payment support device 105, or by communication between the user terminal 115 and the payment support device 105. The provision of the payment information to the user may include the payment support device 105 outputting the payment information so that the user can obtain the payment information. In this case, the payment support device 105 may be configured to receive information for making a payment based on the payment information from the user, and transmit a part or all of the information to the server device 110. In other embodiments, providing payment information to the user may include the payment assistance device 105 transmitting the payment information to the user terminal 115 so that the user can obtain the payment information via the user terminal 115.
[0024] The payment information includes at least one of the payment amount, information identifying the product and / or service to be paid, and a payment identifier which is information for identifying the payment. The payment information may be provided from the payment support apparatus 105 to the user terminal 115 as information readable by a sensor such as a camera of the user terminal 115. For example, a code such as a two-dimensional barcode or a three-dimensional code may be used as camera-readable information as a means for providing the payment information. In one embodiment, when a QR code is used as a means for providing the payment information, the payment may be realized by QR code payment. The payment support apparatus 105 may provide the camera-readable information as static information or dynamic information.
[0025] When the camera-readable information is static information, the camera-readable information (e.g., a QR code, etc.) is printed on a sticker or the like, and the sticker is affixed to payment support device 105 or near payment support device 105. A user can obtain a part or all of the payment information by reading the camera-readable information using the camera of user terminal 115. When the camera-readable information is dynamic information, a display device provided in payment support device 105 can display the camera-readable information. This allows a user to obtain the payment information by using the camera of user terminal 115 to read the camera-readable information displayed on the display device. When the camera-readable information is dynamic, the information may change every time a payment is made. Therefore, dynamic camera-readable information is less likely to be tampered with compared to static information, contributing to improved security.
[0026] The payment information may be provided by information other than camera-readable information. That is, the payment support device 105 can not only dynamically or statically display the payment information, but also output the payment information. The output may include a display. The output may be realized, for example, by sensor-readable information that is not visible (e.g., information that can be communicated wirelessly or infrared), sound, etc.
[0027] The user terminal 115 can present the user with a method relating to the payment information by outputting information explaining the product / service, the price of the product / service, etc. based on the payment information.
[0028] In other embodiments, the provision of payment information from payment support apparatus 105 to user terminal 115 in step 305 may be performed at any time before the transmission of the payment information to server device 110 in step 320 described below.
[0029] The payment assisting device 105 outputs the dynamic security information (step 310). The dynamic security information may be information that is dynamically updated based on information specific to the payment assisting device 105, such as the current time, location information of the payment assisting device 105, the payment information, etc. If the payment assisting device 105 is equipped with a display device, the payment assisting device 105 may display the dynamic security information. In another embodiment, the payment assisting device 105 may output the dynamic security information audibly by reading it out loud. The payment assisting device 105 may output the dynamic security information after sending the payment information. In another embodiment, the payment assisting device 105 may output the dynamic security information before sending the payment information or when outputting the payment information. In one embodiment, the dynamic security information may be information that is one or more numbers, symbols, and / or characters. If the dynamic security information is composed of numbers and / or symbols, users can understand the dynamic security information regardless of language, and the payment assisting device 105 may more easily provide the dynamic security information to users in any country.
[0030] The user can input the output dynamic security information using an input device of the user terminal 115 (step 315). The input device may be realized by a physical input device having physical input keys, a logical input device using input keys on a touch screen, or a voice input device using a microphone or the like.
[0031] The user terminal 115 transmits payment-related information related to the payment information provided by the payment support device 105 and the first security information, which is the input dynamic security information, to the server device 110 (step 320). The payment-related information may include at least one of a payment identifier, user information, and intention to make payment. The payment-related information may include a payment amount. In other embodiments, step 320 may be performed at any timing after the security information input in step 315 is obtained and before the security information is determined in step 330 described below.
[0032] In step 320, the payment related information sent by user terminal 115 may not include the payment amount. In this case, in step 325, the information sent from payment support device 105 may include the payment amount in addition to the payment identifier and the second security information. This makes it possible to prevent tampering with the payment amount by the user at user terminal 115. In this case, user terminal 115 sends part or all of the payment related information to payment support device 105, and payment support device 105 can execute transmission of the payment amount, the payment identifier, and the second security information (corresponding to step 325) in response to receiving the payment related information.
[0033] Payment support apparatus 105 transmits the payment identifier and the second security information, which is the output dynamic security information, to server apparatus 110 (step 325). Step 325 can be executed at any timing after the payment information is generated in step 305 and after the dynamic security information to be output in step 310 is generated, and before the security information is determined in step 330, which will be described later.
[0034] The server device 110 receives the payment-related information and the first security information transmitted from the user terminal 115, and the payment identifier and the second security information transmitted from the payment support device 105. The server device 110 determines whether the received security information is valid (step 330). For example, the server device 110 compares the user terminal payment identifier, which is the payment identifier from the user terminal included in the received payment information, with the payment support device payment identifier, which is the payment identifier from the payment support device transmitted from the payment support device 105, and determines whether the first security information associated with the user terminal payment identifier and the second security information associated with the payment support device payment identifier are valid if the two payment identifiers match. If they do not match, they are determined to be invalid. In one embodiment, the server device 110 determines whether the first security information and the second security information are the same, and if they are the same, it can determine that the security information is valid. This allows the server device 110 to identify that the user of the user terminal 115 is near the payment support device 105 that output the dynamic security information. This makes it possible to eliminate payments made by users who are far away from payment support device 105, thereby contributing to reducing fraudulent use of the payment service.
[0035] In other embodiments, the first security information and the second security information may not be the same information. For example, the first security information may be generated by applying the second security information, which is seed information, to a one-way function such as a hash function, or the second security information may be generated by applying the first security information, which is seed information, to a one-way function such as a hash function. In this case, one or more devices that utilize the one-way function may share the same one-way function, or the one-way function may be transmitted or received together with the seed information.
[0036] In this embodiment, the security information transmitted and received may be converted by encoding or other processing, etc. The security related information includes the security information itself and information obtained by converting the security related information by encoding or other processing, etc.
[0037] If it is determined in step 330 that the security information is invalid, server device 110 terminates the process. In this case, server device 110 may notify payment support device 105 and / or user terminal 115 that the security information is invalid.
[0038] If it is determined in step 330 that the security information is valid, server device 110 notifies payment support device 105 that the security information is valid (step 335).
[0039] In response to receiving a notification indicating that the security information is valid, payment support device 105 acquires presence information indicating that a user is present near payment support device 105 (step 340). The acquisition of the presence information is realized by a presence information acquisition unit of payment support device 105. The presence information acquisition unit is realized by, for example, a human presence sensor. The human presence sensor includes a camera, a temperature sensor, an infrared sensor, a sound sensor such as a microphone, and the like. In this way, payment support device 105 and / or server device 110 acquire information indicating that a user is present near payment support device 105. In one embodiment, the presence information acquisition unit may operate when payment support device 105 is outputting dynamic security information in step 310 or when security information is input in step 310. In one embodiment, when payment support device 105 is outputting dynamic security information, an image, a sound, or the like is acquired. For example, when payment support device 105 is outputting dynamic security information, a predetermined sound, an image, or the like may be output from user terminal 115. In this case, when payment support device 105 is outputting dynamic security information, if the presence information acquisition unit of payment support device 105 is able to acquire the specified sound or video (for example, from user terminal 115), payment support device 105 can acquire presence information indicating that the user is present near payment support device 105.
[0040] In another embodiment, the acquisition of the presence information may be realized by the user terminal 115, not by the payment support apparatus 105. In this case, the user terminal 115 includes a presence information acquisition unit. The user terminal 115 may transmit its location information (e.g., information such as global positioning system, GPS) to the server apparatus 110 via or without the payment support apparatus 105. In this case, the user terminal 115 may transmit the location information to the server apparatus 110 together with information capable of identifying the payment, such as a user identifier and a payment identifier. The server apparatus 110 compares the location information of the payment support apparatus 105 stored in advance in a storage device of the server apparatus 110 or the location information of the payment support apparatus 105 transmitted to the server apparatus 110 by the payment support apparatus 105 with the location information transmitted from the user terminal 115, and determines whether the location information from the payment support apparatus 105 is the same as the location information from the user terminal 115, or whether the location information from the payment support apparatus 105 and the location information from the user terminal 115 are within a predetermined range (e.g., within 30 m). Thereby, presence information indicating that the user is near payment assisting device 105 is acquired. In another embodiment, it may be realized by payment assisting device 105 to determine whether the location information from payment assisting device 105 is the same as the location information from user terminal 115, or whether the location information from payment assisting device 105 and the location information from user terminal 115 are within a predetermined range (e.g., within 30 m). In another embodiment, when a video or the like acquired by user terminal 115 includes an object that is known to be present near payment assisting device 105 in advance, presence information indicating that the user is near payment assisting device 105 may be acquired by user terminal 115 transmitting information about the object to payment assisting device 105 and / or server device 110.
[0041] In another embodiment, the acquisition of the presence information may be realized not only by payment support device 105 but also by user terminal 115 and payment support device 105. In this case, payment support device 105 and user terminal 115 include a presence information acquisition unit. For example, the presence information indicating that the user is present near payment support device 105 is acquired by user terminal 115 acquiring information (video, sound, etc.) output by payment support device 105. Also, the presence information may be acquired by payment support device 105 acquiring information output by user terminal 115. In another embodiment, payment support device 105 may acquire location information from user terminal 115. In another embodiment, user terminal 115 and payment support device 105 perform short-range communication such as Zigbee or Bluetooth, and by being able to communicate, the presence information indicating that the user is present near payment support device 105 is acquired. In this case, one or both of user terminal 115 and payment support device 105 can transmit the presence information to server device 110.
[0042] Payment support apparatus 105 transmits the acquired presence information or presence-related information related to the presence information to server apparatus 110 (step 345). Upon receiving the presence-related information from payment support apparatus 105, server apparatus 110 determines whether the presence-related information is valid or not (step 350). The determination whether the presence information is valid or not may be realized by checking whether the presence-related information has been correctly received or by checking the contents of the presence-related information. The confirmation of the contents of the presence-related information is realized, for example, by checking that a person is captured in the image if the presence-related information is a camera image, or that an expected sound is included if the presence-related information is a sound.
[0043] If it is determined in step 350 that the presence information is invalid, server device 110 ends the process. In this case, server device 110 may notify payment support device 105 and / or user terminal 115 that the presence information is invalid.
[0044] If it is determined in step 350 that the presence information is valid, the server device 110 may perform payment based on the payment information and / or the payment-related information (step 355). In another embodiment, the server device 110 may transmit information necessary for payment based on the payment information and / or the payment-related information to another server device and cause the other server device to perform the payment. In another embodiment, in step 355, the server device 110 may not perform the payment, but may only determine whether or not to perform the payment.
[0045] In this embodiment, since payment is made using security information and presence information, it is possible to more accurately determine whether the user is near payment support device 105.
[0046] [Second Example] FIG. 4 shows a process flow based on the second embodiment of the present invention. The process flow is roughly the same as that of the first embodiment (process flow of FIG. 3), but the execution subject of steps 415 and 420 in the second embodiment is different from the execution subject of steps 315 and 320 in the first embodiment, which correspond to steps 415 and 420 in the second embodiment. The execution subject of steps 315 and 320 is user terminal 115, but the execution subject of steps 415 and 420 is payment support device 105. As can be understood from the fact that the step numbers other than steps 415 and 420 in FIG. 4 are the same as the step numbers in FIG. 3, the steps other than steps 415 and 420 in the second embodiment are the same processes as the corresponding steps in the first embodiment, unless otherwise specified.
[0047] In this embodiment, when payment support device 105 outputs the dynamic security information (step 310), the user can use an input device of payment support device 105 to input the output dynamic security information to payment support device 105 (step 415). The input device may be realized by a physical input device having physical input keys, a logical input device using input keys on a touch screen, a voice input device using a microphone, etc.
[0048] Payment support apparatus 105 transmits the payment information and the first security information, which is the security information input in step 415, to server device 110 (step 420). Payment support apparatus 105 transmits the payment identifier and the second security information, which is the output dynamic security information, to server device 110 (step 325). Payment support apparatus 105 determines whether the security information is valid based on the first security information and the second security information (step 330). The processing after step 330 in the second embodiment can be the same as in the first embodiment.
[0049] In another embodiment, the determination of whether the security information is valid may be made by payment support apparatus 105, not by server device 110. For example, payment support apparatus 105 may compare first security information, which is the output dynamic security information, with second security information, which is the dynamic security information input by the user. If the first security information and the second security information match, payment support apparatus 105 may determine that the security information is valid. Then, payment support apparatus 105 transmits information indicating that the security information is valid and the payment information to server device 110 (a step replacing steps 420 and 325). In response to receiving information indicating that the security information is valid, server device 110 may determine that the security information is valid.
[0050] [others] In each of the embodiments described above, the payment support device 105, the server device 110, and the user terminal 115 may be realized by their own hardware, or some or all of them may be realized as an integrated hardware device.
[0051] It will be understood that in the above embodiments, some or all of the elements described as being implemented in hardware may be implemented in software, and some or all of the elements described as being implemented in software may be implemented in hardware.
[0052] In the processes or processing sequences described above, the processes or processing sequences can be freely changed as long as no inconsistencies in the processes or processing sequences arise, such as the use of data in a certain process that is not yet available to that process.
[0053] Regarding each of the embodiments described above, a part or all of each embodiment may be combined to be realized as a single embodiment.
[0054] The above-described embodiments are merely examples for explaining the present invention, and the present invention is not limited to these embodiments. The present invention can be embodied in various forms without departing from the gist of the present invention. [Explanation of symbols]
