AI Technical Summary
Technical Problem
Conventional vehicle position correction methods wait until a predetermined condition is met before correcting the estimated position, leading to potential deterioration in estimation accuracy.
Method used
A vehicle position estimation system that acquires and compares errors from GNSS, autonomous navigation, and lane marking detection to select the method with the smallest error for estimating the vehicle's position, continuously updating the position to maintain accuracy.
Benefits of technology
This approach enhances the likelihood of preventing a decrease in estimation accuracy by consistently selecting the most reliable method for position estimation, thereby maintaining precision.

Abstract
[Problem] To provide a technology which can increase the possibility of preventing the deterioration of accuracy of vehicle position estimation. [Solution] A vehicle position estimation system comprises: a first error acquisition unit that acquires a first error indicating an error in GNSS (global navigation satellite system) information acquired by a vehicle; a second error acquisition unit that acquires a second error indicating an error in autonomous navigation; a third error acquisition unit that acquires a third error indicating an error when detecting a partition line included in an image obtained by imaging a road around the vehicle; and a position estimation unit that selects a position estimation method with which the smallest error among the first error, the second error, and the third error is acquired, and uses that selected position estimation method to estimate the position of the vehicle in the width direction of the road.
