AI Technical Summary
Technical Problem
Existing genomic data formats lack interoperability, require frequent format conversions, and inefficient compression due to treating diverse annotation data as a single entity, hindering data visualization and exchange.
Method used
A unified data format that breaks genomic data into chunks, indexes them, and applies individual compression, allowing flexible attribute definitions and algorithms without changing the file structure.
Benefits of technology
Enhances data storage efficiency, access speed, and security while enabling seamless data linkage and processing across different genomic data types.

Abstract
1. A method 100 for packaging genomic data within a file structure, the method comprising: (i) receiving 110 a genomic dataset including the genomic data; (ii) extracting 120 a plurality of attributes from the genomic dataset, each of the plurality of attributes being defined in attribute information of a data structure; (iii) parsing 130 each attribute into a plurality of chunks of a predetermined size; (iv) indexing 140 each of the plurality of chunks in a master index of the data structure; (v) individually compressing 150 each of the plurality of chunks; and (vi) packaging 160 each compressed chunk in an assigned location as defined by the master index, wherein the data structure is configured to allow each of the plurality of chunks to be individually decompressed.
