The JIFFY Putter - Golf Club Converter

Abstract

‘The JIFFY Putter’—Golf Club Converter invention uses technology and design to allow a golf club putter to fit in the golfer's pocket and quickly converts (using magnets) any steel faced iron or wedge golf club into a putter and quickly back again. It also uses a magnet to quickly attach or remove a golf ball position marker. Allowing golfers to carry only 1 golf club when playing PAR 3 golf courses.

[0034] ‘The JIFFY Putter’ invention is the only golf club putter that fits in a pocket and quickly converts any steel faced iron or wedge golf club into a putter and quickly back again. Ideal for Par 3 Golf Courses, when all the golfer wants to carry is 1 golf club, 2 golf tees, and 3 golf balls to play. ‘The JIFFY Putter’ is made of a cylinder-shaped aluminum round bar with embedded disc shaped and channel magnets. The cylinder shaped aluminum round bar surface allows for use with different lofted golf clubs and putting styles: with hand positions in front, in line with or behind the golf ball. While still providing the same feel and touch of a conventional putter. The embedded channel magnet attaches ‘The JIFFY Putter’ to the golf clubface. For marking the location of a golf ball on the putting green, ‘The JIFFY Putter’ has a place (embedded disc shaped magnet) to hold a removable magnetic attracted golf ball position marker. ‘The JIFFY Putter’ also has a colored putting alignment aid (approximately 331 degrees around the circumference) that works for with different lofted golf clubs and different putting styles. To ATTACH: ‘The JIFFY Putter’ to the clubface, center the long magnetic flat-side of the putter on the clubface flush or one to two groove lines (score lines) up from the bottom (sole) on the clubface; so that ‘The JIFFY Putter’ makes contact at the equator of the golf ball. To REMOVE: ‘The JIFFY Putter’ from the clubface, slide the putter off the clubface rather than trying to pull it off. The golf ball position marker can also be quickly removed by sliding it off the side of ‘The JIFFY Putter’.

Both ends of the cylinder shaped aluminum round bar are turned with a 0.0625 inch chamfer to blend the vertical and horizontal surfaces into one another. On the circumference of the cylinder shaped aluminum round bar, a centered groove of 0.125 inch width by 0.0156 inch depth is placed as a Putting Alignment Aid. Fixed into the bottom of the Putting Alignment Aid groove, is an industrial vinyl adhesive green colored pin stripe measuring 0.125 inch width and 2.50 inches length.

A channel pocket measuring 0.52 inch in width by 0.27 inch in depth by 2.20 inches in length is centered and drilled out on the flat-side of the aluminum round bar. On the flat-side of the aluminum round bar, two #31 holes are centered in the channel pocket and drilled 1.63 inch apart to a depth 0.30 inch from the bottom of the channel pocket.

The disc shaped magnet is cyanoacrylate glued into the left-side pocket on the aluminum round bar, flush with the surrounding surface. This magnet is used to attach a customized magnetic attracted golf ball position marker sourced from an industrial supplier to the aluminum round bar. The channel magnet is set into the channel pocket on the flat-side of the aluminum round bar flush with the surrounding surface. The channel magnet is secured to the aluminum round bar using two U Drive Screws (#6× 5 / 16 inch Round HD 18-8 S / S) sourced from an industrial supplier.
