Removable Onesie Cover System

Abstract

A removable cover system for a baby onesie. The invention comprises a base onesie and a cover that is detachably secured to the base onesie by attachment means such as snaps, Velcro, buttons, or equivalent fasteners. The cover may be removed independently of the base onesie, allowing the baby to remain clothed while the soiled cover is replaced or cleaned. The invention may be manufactured as a set including a base onesie and one or more covers, or the cover may be adapted to attach to existing onesies or other garments. This arrangement reduces the need to fully change the baby when spills or messes occur, thereby improving convenience and hygiene for caregivers.

[0003] Babies often make messes that require cleaning and a change of clothes. Existing onesies may have snaps or other fastening means to make them easy to remove, but this means the baby will need new clothes if he throws up or spills food. Babies may wear bibs while eating, but the bib may not cover everything, and the mess may still reach the baby’s clothing.

[0004] The present invention seeks to provide a clean and simple solution with a removable cover that attaches to a onesie. If the cover becomes dirty, it can easily be removed and replaced without having to fully undress the baby.SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0021] The present invention is a removable onesie cover system comprising a base onesie (100), a cover (101), and an attachment means (102). As shown in FIG. 1, the cover (101) of the present invention attaches to the base onesie (100) via the attachment means (102). In the preferred embodiment, the attachment means (102) are snaps. However, Velcro, buttons, and other forms of attachment should be considered within the scope of the present invention. As shown in FIGS. 2-5, the cover (101) can be removed from the base onesie (100) while leaving the baby clothed. FIG. 5 shows the base onesie (100) of the preferred embodiment, with attachment means (102) around the outside. The placement of the attachment means (102) may vary as may the means of attachment. FIGS. 6 and 7 show the cover (101) of the present invention from the front and rear views. The attachment means (102) of the cover (101) align with those of the base onesie (100).

[0022] The present invention may be manufactured as a set, with a base onesie (100) and at least one cover (101), or the cover (101) may be manufactured to attach to any existing onesie or other article of clothing. While wearing the cover (101), the baby may vomit or spill food, making a mess. The messy cover (101) may then be removed, leaving the baby clothed in the base onesie (100). A second cover (101) may be attached to the base onesie (100) so that the other may be cleaned, or the baby may wear the base onesie (100) by itself. The present invention therefore prevents the baby from having to be fully changed every time he makes a mess.

[0023] Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.

Claims

1. A removable onesie cover system, comprising,a base onesie;a cover configured to overlay the base onesie; andan attachment means disposed on the base onesie and the cover, the attachment means securing the cover to the base onesie;wherein the cover is detachable from the base onesie such that removal of the cover leaves the wearer clothed in the base onesie.

2. The removable onesie cover system of claim 1, wherein the attachment means comprises snaps, Velcro, buttons, or equivalent fasteners.

3. A method of maintaining a wearer clothed while removing a soiled garment, comprising,providing a base onesie worn by the wearer;attaching a removable cover to the base onesie using attachment means;detaching the cover from the base onesie when the cover becomes soiled; andleaving the wearer clothed in the base onesie after removal of the cover.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein the attachment means are positioned around the perimeter of the base onesie.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein the cover includes attachment means aligned with those of the base onesie.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the cover is interchangeable with multiple covers adapted to attach to the same base onesie.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein the cover is adapted to attach to a standard onesie or other article of clothing not originally manufactured with the base onesie.

8. The method of claim 3, further comprising attaching a second cover to the base onesie after removal of the first cover.

9. The system of claim 1, wherein the base onesie and cover are manufactured as a set including at least one cover.
