Child locating and tracking apparatus

A child locating and tracking apparatus which provides for the location of a child that is lost, abducted or in general danger to be quickly located is disclosed. The apparatus uses a small transmitter that is always carried by the child and as such, is always present when danger arises. The transmitter is easily disguised and hidden in the child's clothing or personal adornments such as shoes, coats, watches, earrings, bracelets, rings and the like. The apparatus uses a system of world wide receivers such as those provided by local cellular telephone towers or by low earth orbiting satellites used for low power communication. When a child is lost or in danger, the child simply activates the transmitter which sends a signal to a central reporting station or stations where trained personnel will contact the respective parents and / or care givers to determine if the child could possibly be in danger. If an affirmative decision is reached, the monitoring station personnel will then assist the local law enforcement officials in the respective area anywhere in the world where the alarm was received in locating the child and removing the child from harm's path.

Abnormal motion detector and monitor

In an embodiment, a seizure monitor provides intelligent epilepsy seizure detection, monitoring, and alerting for epilepsy patients or people with seizures. In an embodiment, the seizure monitor may be a wearable, non-intrusive, passive monitoring device that does not require any insertion or ingestion into the human body. In an embodiment, the seizure monitor may include several output options for outputting the accelerometer / gyro or other motion sensor data and video data, so that the data may be immediately validated and / or remotely viewed. The device alerts and communicated to the outside care givers via wirelessly or wired medium. The device may also support recording of accelerometer or other motion sensor data and video data, which can be reviewed later for further analysis and / or diagnosis. The device and invention is also used and applicable for other body motion disorders or detection and diagnostics.

Methods and system for capturing and managing patient consents to prescribed medical procedures

A method of capturing patient consents to a prescribed medical procedures. Patient accounts are created on a computerized patient consent management system. The system authenticates a login attempt by a patient and displays a visual representation of a prescribed medical procedure to the patient. The patient consent management system presents at least one consent request input field for accepting a consent input from the patient and stores the consent input as part of the patient account. The patient consent management system presents the consent input to at least one care giver in order to determine if the patient has given consent to the prescribed medical procedure.

Alzheimer's patient tracking system

The computerized system provides a method to track Alzheimer's patients and other diseases that affect the patient's ability to contact and communicate their location or vital information to their caregivers. The system applies an electronic tag to each patient of a multiplicity of patients or only to non-confined patients and employs a computer to maintain information about their location and well being. Use is made of a global positioning system to locate a lost patient as well as to track movements of the patient. A history of the movement of the patient may also be plotted on a map. Additional components of the tag gather and relay information about the patient's condition and other environmental data. In addition, the use of a an additional external transmitter keeps the wearable tag in a low power “sleep” mode when it is in range, preserving the internal battery and only consuming power when the tag moves out of range of the external transmitter.

Apparatus for the delivery to an animal of a beneficial agent

An apparatus for the automatic delivery to an animal of a beneficial agent such as analgesia by infusion with the pain of the animal being taken into account when determining the rate of dispensing the agent. As the pain experienced by an animal and therefore its distress is manifested in increased agitation, the apparatus includes elements for the measurement of the frequency and amplitude of an animal's movement and the generation of a trigger signal when the either the frequency or the amplitude exceeds a predetermined threshold. The trigger can be used to generate a visual or audible alarm. The apparatus also preferably includes a dispensing means for delivering doses of beneficial agent to the animal in response to the trigger signal. The apparatus serves primarily to reduce the post-operative distress experienced by an animal by providing for timely administration of analgesic compounds. The apparatus also aids the animal care-giver by reducing the amount of time spent assessing the animal and administering beneficial compounds.
