An online occupational medicine management system and method that allow authorized physicians, patients, employers, and insurance companies to capture, store, retrieve, and disseminate an employee's medical records from any computer having Internet access. The employee medical information can be shared between the aforementioned parties in real time, resulting in improved quality of care and greater efficiency in the field of work-related injuries, i.e., workers' compensation. The online occupational medicine management system also provides physicians with diagnosis appropriate treatment protocols that can be pre-approved by a patient's employer and/or the employer's insurance company, thus requiring monitoring only of medical treatments that fall outside of the pre-approved protocols.
