Methods, programs (120) and apparatus (100) are disclosed for accessing and heterogenous data sources (150-153) and presenting information obtained therefrom. Specifically, the data sources may have hierarchical data, which may be presented by identifying a context data node from the data, the context data node having one or more descendent data nodes. At least one data pattern is determined in the descendent data nodes. At least one display type is assigned to the current context data node on the basis of the at least one data pattern. Thereafter, the method presents at least a subset of the descendent data nodes according to one of the assigned display types. Also disclosed is a method of browsing an hierarchically-represented data source. A user operation is interpreted to identify a context data node from the data source, the context data node having one or more descendent data nodes. At least one data pattern in the descendent data nodes is then determined and at least one display type is assigned to the current context data node on the basis of the at least one data pattern. A subset of the descendent data nodes is then presented according to one of the assigned display types, the subset including at least one hyperlink (3401,3402) having as its target a descendant data node of the current context data node. A further user operation is then interpreted to select the at least one hyperlink, the selection resulting in the current context data node being replaced with the data node corresponding to the target of the selected hyperlink. These steps may be repeated until no further hyperlinks to descendent data nodes are included in the subset. Other methods associated with access and presentation are also disclosed.

The interoperable healthcare data exchange platform seamlessly links a plurality of disparate, remote applications generally representing provider systems containing electronic health records (EHRs) to enable the real-time collection, processing and centralized storage of health records at a data store, along with enabling controlled access to the centralized storage. The central health records data store receives, in real time, substantially complete electronic medical data input from multiple, disparate providers and sources of health records. The platform enable semantic normalization of the health records by converting the data in the health records to standardized message formats using a data conversion engine and mapping the converted data to standard terminologies using mapping products.

This invention allows keyword searches in both structured and unstructured databases, and across multiple databases of different vendors. An index database is created comprising word occurrences and table relationship information. In the case of unstructured databases with no predetermined schema, the relationship between different tables is derived through propagative n-level indexing and data is then populated in index tables. A database adapter enables indexing and searching across multi-vendor databases, which resolves discrepancies across different database access methodologies. Given a set of keyword inputs, the rows containing the search words and all the related rows are searched using word occurrences and relationship information.

Various embodiments of the present invention are directed to a storage platform comprising a database engine, a data store, an application programming interface. The data store is implemented on the database engine for storing data therein, and the data store implements a data model that supports the organization, searching, sharing, synchronization, and security of data stored in the data store. Specific types of data are described in schemas. The application programming interface enables application programs to access services and capabilities of the storage platform and to access the data described in the schemas. The storage platform supports interoperability with existing file systems, enables users and systems to synchronize data stored in different instances of the data store, and provides the ability for application programs to be notified about and to track changes made to the data in the data store.

A method and apparatus for reindexing media content for search applications that includes steps and structure for providing a speech recognition database that include entries defining acoustical representations for a plurality of words; providing a searchable database containing a plurality of metadata documents descriptive of a plurality of media resources, each of the plurality of metadata documents including a sequence of speech recognized text indexed using the speech recognition database; updating the speech recognition database with at least one word candidate; and reindexing the sequence of speech recognized text for a subset of the plurality of metadata documents using the updated speech recognition database.

The present invention provides a system and method for dynamic object-driven database manipulation and mapping system which relates in general to correlating or translating one type of database to another type of database or to an object programming application. Correlating or translating involves relational to object translation, object to object translation, relational to relational, or a combination of the above. A cloud enablement aggregation proxy (CEAP) receives and processes audit data from audited resources before such data is stored in a database. The CEAP manages log data for resources hosted in a multi-tenant shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., a compute cloud). A method for managing log data begins by the proxy aggregating and normalizing log information received from a plurality of the resources. The aggregated and normalized log information is then parsed to identify a tenant associated with each of a set of transactions. For each of the set of transactions, the CEAP annotates log data associated with the tenant and the particular transaction to include a tenant-specific identifier. An optional tenant separation proxy (TSP) separates the annotated log data on a per tenant basis prior to storage, and the tenant-specific log data may be stored in per tenant data structures or dedicated tenant log event databases to facilitate subsequent compliance or other analysis.

Approaches for a distributed storage system that comprises a plurality of nodes. Each node, of the plurality of nodes, executes one or more application processes which are capable of accessing persistent shared memory. The persistent shared memory is implemented by solid state devices physically maintained on each of the plurality of nodes. Each the one or more application processes, maintained on a particular node, of the plurality of nodes, communicates with a shared data fabric (SDF) to access the persistent shared memory. The persistent shared memory comprises a scoreboard implemented in shared DRAM memory that is mapped to a persistent storage. The scoreboard provides a crash tolerant mechanism for enabling application processes to communicate with the shared data fabric (SDF).

In one aspect, embodiments of the present disclosure include a method, which may be implemented on a system, of hosting web content in response to receiving a request from a user of the plurality of users. One embodiment can include, identifying a set of relational attributes of the user associated with the web content, enforcing a set of rules that govern accessibility of the web content, the set of rules to be determined based the set of relational attributes, tracking access and distribution of the web content by one or more of the plurality of users, and collecting data related to the access and distribution of the web content among the one or more of the plurality of users.

A method, system, and apparatus for discovering and connecting to data sources are provided. A system is provided that includes a server computer operative to maintain a centrally managed repository of data connection definitions. A client computer is also provided including an application program capable of consuming data from a data source. When a request is received by the application to connect to a data source, a list of available sources is retrieved from the server computer. If one of the data sources in the list is selected, a data connection file is retrieved and utilized to connect to the data source. If a report is opened by the application that includes a reference to a data source, the repository is utilized to confirm the connection to the data source.

A method and apparatus for obtaining metadata from multiple information sources in real time are described. According to one aspect, the method includes receiving a user request pertaining to one or more of source metadata objects residing in multiple source metadata repositories. Each source metadata repository is maintained by a specific data management application. The method further includes responding to the user request in real time by identifying a data management application that corresponds to the source metadata objects associated with the user request and retrieving the source metadata objects using an application program interface (API) with the corresponding data management application.

Use of a database-enabled rules engine includes receiving and storing ECA expressions in the database. Such expressions specify (1) an event structure that defines an event that corresponds with the event structure; (2) conditions for evaluation with respect to occurrences of events that correspond with the event structure; and (3) actions for performance in response to events satisfying one or more of the conditions. Such expressions are stored in columns of a database table. Hence, during a database session in which the rules are evaluated with respect to one or more events, an event is detected based on the event's compliance with the specified event structure and the conditions are evaluated by determining whether the event satisfies any of the conditions. Additionally, the continuous query service may be configured to translate the logical request into a physical request. Further, business intelligence information may be provided based at least in part on querying against an event data stream with a continuous query configured based at least in part on the physical request translated by the continuous query service.

Techniques for transferring objects between database systems. As implemented in a relational database management system, the techniques employ a data transfer mechanism that operates under control of a master table in the RDBMS that is performing the transfer operation. The master table specifies the kind of transfer operation to be performed, a set of objects to be transferred, operations to be performed on the objects as they are being transferred, and filters for selecting a subset of the objects. During execution of the transfer, the transfer mechanism maintains and updates state in the master table such that queries may be made on the master table to determine the current status of the operation and such that the transfer mechanism may restart the operation after it has been stopped either at the request of a client that is performing the operation or because of an error in the transfer. The master table's persistence and the status information it contains permit the client that is performing the operation to detach from the operation without stopping the operation and later again attach to the operation to determine the operation's status or to perform operations such as creating new files for the operation or changing the degree of parallelism with which the transfer operation is being performed. Another feature of the transfer mechanism is using an object's metadata to determine the most efficient way of transferring the object.

The TABLE function mechanism available in a RDBMS is used to integrate RDF models into SQL queries. The table function invocation takes parameters including an RDF pattern, an RDF model, and an RDF rule base and returns result rows to the SQL query that contain RDF triples resulting from the application of the pattern to the triples of the model and the triples inferred by applying the rule base to the model. The RDBMS includes relational representations of the triples and the rules. Optimizations include indexes and materialized views of the representations of the triples, precomputed inferred triples, and a method associated with the TABLE function that rewrites the part of the SQL query that contains the TABLE function invocation as an equivalent SQL string. The latter technique is generally applicable to TABLE functions.
