Data quality assessment (DQA) is the process of scientifically and statistically evaluating data in order to determine whether they meet the quality required for projects or business processes and are of the right type and quantity to be able to actually support their intended use.

Calibration of near infrared quantitative measurement device using optical measurement cross-products

In a method to improve the calibration of a non-invasive, near infrared (NIR) measurement device, a plurality of data terms is formed for the NIR measurement device. Then the codependence of the data terms is evaluated by forming cross-products terms using the data terms. Next, sets of prespecified sizes are randomly formed from the data terms and the cross-product terms. Each of these sets of terms is evaluated by testing the ability of the set to predict a set of accurate measurements using regression analysis. The method then selects one of the sets based on preselected criteria and uses the selected set to calibrate the NIR measurement device.

Method and System for Determining Road Conditions Based on Driver Data

A system and method for determining adverse / dangerous road conditions based on sensor data received from a vehicle and generating alerts for other vehicles which may encounter the same condition. The system receives sensor data from a vehicle and evaluates the data to determine if the vehicle encountered a potentially dangerous road condition. The system may apply one or more thresholds to the data, where the thresholds are designed to detect various sudden movements of the vehicle. The system may monitor the location associated with the potentially dangerous road condition and evaluate sensor data from one or more other vehicles that drive near the same location to determine whether they encounter a similar condition. The system may generate one or more alerts and transmit those alerts to vehicles that are approaching the location of the dangerous condition using location data provided by the approaching vehicles.

Extracorporeal renal replacement modeling system

A system, program product and method continuously optimize an ultrafiltration rate during an extracorporeal renal replacement process by modeling physiological and actual rate data. The system maps the sensed, physiological data to a mathematical model to assess the data in terms of the ultrafiltration rate. The model provides parameters used to predict where the treatment is headed based on current conditions. The system processes the parameters in terms of preset criteria to generate the optimized ultrafiltration rate. Where the system is networked, communication of the data may be accomplished using remote and online communication techniques.

Partitioning data access requests

A system with multiple data stores receives a data access request that includes one or more variables. The system determines which data store can service the data access request by using mappings of the variables to the data stores in order to evaluate whether partition expressions for the data stores overlap with the variables in the data access request. The data access request is then sent to the data stores corresponding to the partition expressions that overlap. The partition expressions can have one or more variables. The present invention supports multi-dimensional partitioning.

An emergency response system capable of directing building occupants to a safe location in real-time is disclosed. The system comprises a plurality of sensors which detect and monitor an emergency condition, a central processing unit which evaluates the data, calculates accessible evacuation routes, and sends the result to output devices which provide directional information to occupants. By combining an analysis of the flow of evacuees with changes in building structural information and the evolution of an emergency condition the system combines situation-aware data with contextual information to thereby provide the best available evacuation route to evacuees. In this manner, some evacuees may be redirected to alternate evacuation routes during the evacuation process itself, thereby minimizing problems due to congestion, potential panic of the evacuees, and changes in the emergency condition while increasing the probability that evacuees will reach a safe location.

Methods of deterring, detecting, and mitigating fraud by monitoring behaviors and activities of an individual and/or individuals within an organization

A cooperative arrangement and method to help deter and / or detect and / or mitigate fraud by evaluating and then monitoring the information of an individual or individuals for changes in fraud risk. A personal information disclosure statement, personal information records, and other relevant information associated with an individual, or a plurality of individuals, associated with an organization, an individual potentially to be associated with an organization, or an individual acting in his or her individual capacity are obtained. Information is extracted from the personal information disclosure statement, the personal information records, and the other relevant information and entered into a risk assessment algorithm. The risk assessment algorithm operates on the entered information and generates risk assessment data. The risk assessment data is evaluated to make a determination of fraud risk with respect to the individual(s). A decision to provide a fraud risk determination means that the risk associated with the individual, with respect to committing fraud, is acceptable. Risk assessment data on a plurality of key individuals within an organization may be generated and evaluated to make a determination of fraud risk with respect to the organization itself.

Data center evaluation using an air re-circulation index

In a method for evaluating one or more components in a data center, inlet and outlet temperatures of one or more heat dissipating devices are detected. In addition, the temperatures of air supplied by one or more computer room air conditioning (CRAC) units are also detected. Indices of air re-circulation for the one or more heat dissipating devices are calculated based upon the detected inlet temperatures, outlet temperatures and supplied air temperatures. The indices of air re-circulation are determined at various flow field settings of air delivered to the one or more heat dissipating devices and the one or more components are evaluated based upon changes in the indices of air re-circulation for the one or more heat dissipating devices at the various flow field settings.

Such techniques may be use with sales management personnel as well. Reports based on the assessment results and comparisons thereof with high sales performer benchmark data may be created and provided to the individuals being assessed or persons associated with the individual sales persons. The personality, behavior and competency assessment data may also be used to identify predictive characteristics of high sales performers that may be subsequently used to predict other characteristics of individuals or groups.

Stress testing database storage

A method and system for stress testing database storage. Stress testing software generates read and / or write commands to a database engine. Preferably, the read and write commands adhere to a desired ratio of reads to writes. The commands are interpreted by the database engine. The database engine issues read and / or write instructions to a database storage system. Multiple instances of the stress testing software may be spawned against a plurality of databases in order to achieve a desired aggregate rate of operations to the database storage system. Performance measurements of the database storage system are obtained and may be used for evaluation of the database storage system. Advantageously, the performance of a database storage system may be tested and measured without the encumbrances of transaction processing overhead due to actual database processing.

Accessing and manipulating data in a data flow graph

The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for accessing and manipulating data in a data flow graph. A data flow graph includes one more transforms for transforming data from one or more data stores into different formats accessible to clients. Transforms can be configured to join and split data from the same or different data stores. A metadata tree logically represents the data flow graph including locations that provide output from transforms of the data flow graph. The locations can be referenced by clients to access transformed outputs. Clients can register dependencies on data at various locations and can request evaluation of the data in response to data changes at a corresponding data store. Clients can also request data changes be propagated back through the data flow graph to one or more data stores and implemented at the one or more data stores.

Efficient fuzzy match for evaluating data records

To help ensure high data quality, data warehouses validate and clean, if needed incoming data tuples from external sources. In many situations, input tuples or portions of input tuples must match acceptable tuples in a reference table. For example, product name and description fields in a sales record from a distributor must match the pre-recorded name and description fields in a product reference relation. A disclosed system implements an efficient and accurate approximate or fuzzy match operation that can effectively clean an incoming tuple if it fails to match exactly with any of the multiple tuples in the reference relation. A disclosed similarity function that utilizes token substrings referred to as q-grams overcomes limitations of prior art similarity functions while efficiently performing a fuzzy match process.
