or industrial wireless communication networks, and the like. In the following description, the terms “terminal device” , “communication device” , “terminal” , “user equipment” and “UE” may be used interchangeably.Embodiments of the present disclosure are related to enhanced ProSe direct discovery methods for integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) systems. In some embodiments, the ProSe direct discovery may include discover of a sidelink for direct communications (e.g., sidelink discovery) . In some embodiments, ProSe direct discovery may be used for sidelink discovery over a PC5 interface. In order to better understand the embodiments of the present disclosure, firstly, an ISAC system is described. An integrated sensing and communication system (ISAC) is a communication system, such as a 3GPP communication system, in which sensing and communication are integrated. In an ISAC system, terminal devices and network devices are provided with both sensing capabilities and communication capabilities, and sensing information may be derived from radio signals transmitted and received by the terminal devices and the networks device. In general, an ISAC system may be used for communication assisted sensing, e.g., where a wireless communication system provides sensing services, or sensing assisted communication, e.g. when sensing information related to the communication channel or environment is used to improve the communication service of the wireless communication system itself e.g. the sensing information can be used to assist radio resource management, interference mitigation, beam management, mobility, etc. The sensing services can be beneficial for intelligent transportation, aviation, enterprise, smart city, smart home, factories, consumer applications, X-Reality (XR) , and public sector.Several use cases have been proposed for integrated sensing and communication systems for various industries, and cover a wide range of applications, such as object and intruder detection for smart homes, on a highway, for railways, for factory, for predefined secure areas around critical infrastructure, collision avoidance and trajectory tracking of UAVs, vehicles, AGVs, automotive maneuvering and navigation, public safety search and rescue, rainfall monitoring and flooding, and health and sports monitoring. Some use cases involve indoor scenarios such as intruder detection in smart home, intruder detection in surroundings of smart home, automated guided vehicles (AGV) detection and tracking in factories, contactless sleep monitoring service, health monitoring service at home. Herein, one of the use cases is related to contactless sleep monitoring service.In 3GPP TSG-SA WG1 Meeting #97e, a new study item (SID) for Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) for Rel-19 is described in S1-220191. The objectives of the study item include:In SA1#100 meeting, 32 use cases were described in TR 22.837 for further study. Some of use cases are involved in indoor scenarios such as intruder detection in smart home, intruder detection in surroundings of smart home, AGV detection and tracking in factories, contactless sleep monitoring service, health monitoring service at home. Herein, one of the use cases is related to contactless sleep monitoring service and the corresponding service flow and potential requirements are listed as below (see TR 22.837) :In an ISAC system, ProSe Direct Discovery is defined as a process of detecting and identifying another UE in proximity using Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access (E-UTRA) or Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) direct radio signals. There are two types of ProSe Direct Discovery: open discovery and restricted discovery. Open discovery is where there is no explicit permission that is needed from the UE being discovered, whereas restricted discovery only takes place with explicit permission from the UE that is being discovered. The following models for ProSe Direct Discovery are defined in TS 23.303, section 5.3.1.2:Model AThis model defines two roles for the ProSe-enabled UEs that are participating in ProSe Direct Discovery. The ProSe-enabled UE may be a UE that supports ProSe requirements and associated procedures. In some examples, unless explicitly stated otherwise, a ProSe-enabled UE refers both to a non-Public Safety UE and a Public Safety UE. For the two roles mentioned above, one role corresponds to announcing UE, and the other role corresponds to monitoring UE. Announcing UE is used for announcing certain information that could be used by UEs in proximity that have permission to discover. Monitoring UE is used for monitoring certain information of interest in proximity of announcing UEs.In this model the announcing UE broadcasts discovery messages at pre-defined discovery intervals and the monitoring UEs that are interested in these discovery messages read them and process them (e.g., receive these discovery message, read information included in these discovery messages) . It is noted that this model is equivalent to "I am here" since the announcing UE would broadcast information about itself, e.g., its ProSe Application Code, included in the discovery message. Both open and restricted discovery types are supported by Model A.Model BThis model when restricted discovery type is used for ProSe Direct Discovery, defines two roles for the ProSe-enabled UEs that are participating in ProSe Direct Discovery. One role corresponds to discoverer UE, and the other role corresponds to discoveree UE. A discoverer UE may transmit a request (e.g., a discovery request, and its details will be further described in some embodiments below) , where the request includes information about what the discoverer UE is interested in discovering. A discoveree UE may receive the request and may respond to the request by sending a response to the request that includes information related to the discoverer's request.It is equivalent to "who is there / are you there" since the discoverer UE sends information about other UEs that the discoverer UE would like to receive responses from, e.g., the information can be about a ProSe Application Identity corresponding to a group of the discoveree UEs and the members of the group can respond.With E-UTRA-based ProSe Direct Discovery when using Model B discovery, the discoverer UE and discoveree UE can announce in a carrier frequency signalled by the serving PLMN (Public Land Mobile Network) , for example, the the discoverer UE may announce the ProSe Query Code on PC5 and the discoveree UE may announce the ProSe Response Code on PC5. When inter-PLMN discovery transmission is supported by an interface (e.g., a PC6 interface) , the carrier frequency may be operated by a PLMN other than the serving PLMN, as described in TS 36.331

[0033] . The discoverer UE and discoveree UE are allowed to monitor or announce in the serving PLMN and Local PLMNs when authorized.Only restricted discovery type is supported by Model B. The Public Safety discovery is considered restricted. The monitoring UE and / or discoverer UE needs to have authorization (such as through pre-provisioned parameters) to perform discovery of the appropriate service (s) . The authorization procedure is defined in section 5 of TS 23.303, and based on the authorization procedure, a ProSe Function authorizes the service. Specifically, the ProSe Function provides the services including AnnounceAuthorize, AnnounceUpdate, MonitorAuthorize, MonitorUpdate, MonitorUpdateResult, DiscoveryAuthorize, MatchReport, and MatchInformation. A 5G Direct Discovery Name Management Function (5G DDNMF) may be a network entity in a 5G Core Network (5GC) supporting Direct Discovery Services, and takes the role of "ProSe Function" as specified in TS 23.304 or 29.555. Example procedures corresponding to Model A and Model B will be further described with reference to Fig. 1D and Fig. 1E below.For the use case of contactless sleep monitoring service, it is necessary for a wireless communication system (e.g., a 5G system) to discover a base station or a UE (called sensing assisted UE) to start the sleep monitoring sensing service. After that, the base station or the sensing assisted UE can coordinate with the UE which initiated (e.g., sent) the sensing service request (generally referred to herein as a sensing-initiated UE) to perform the sensing measurement. The base station (or the sensing assisted UE) and the sensing discoverer can be a transmitter and a receiver, respectively, or vice versa. However, it’s important to ensure light of sight (LoS) path detection performance between the transmitter and receiver for the bi-static passive sensing service to compensate an offset in a frequency and / or phase of a signal sent by the transmitter and a frequency and / or phase of a signal received by the receiver. What’s more, in the case that the target sensing signal (e.g., respiratory signal or heartbeat signal) is very weak, it is necessary to deploy the transmitter and the receiver at the sensing location area. However, it is neither economical nor convenient to deploy a base station as per sensing location area in the case of indoor passive sensing scenario.Therefore, it would be reasonable for the 5G system to determine discover and configure at least a UE (i.e., the sensing assisted UE) to assist the sensing-initiated UE to perform the sensing measurement when a base station is not located in the sensing area (i.e., there is no LoS path between the sensing-initiated UE and the base station) . Based on discussion for this use case, a 5G system may include a network function configured to discover and configure a UE and a base station to perform sensing measurements in a certain sensing location area.In section 5.3 of TS 22.303 (V17.1.0) , ProSe Direct Discovery procedure was defined by the UE to discover other wireless terminals (e.g., UEs) in its proximity, using E-UTRA direct radio signals via the PC5 interface. The LTE ProSe Direct Discovery solution could also be reused for new radio (NR) sidelink. Even so, how to discover and select a suitable terminal for support of sensing measurement service is not discussed yet.In summary, to support ProSe-based sensing, it’s required for 5G system to discover and configure ProSe-enabled UE for sensing. However, how to discover and select a suitable terminal for support of sensing measurement service is not discussed yet in NR. The embodiments of the present disclosure propose an enhanced ProSe discovery method for support of sidelink-based sensing service, especially for indoor scenario.Embodiments of the present disclosure will be described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings. Reference is first made to Fig. 1A, which illustrates an example communication system 100 (generally referred to herein as system 100) in which embodiments of the present disclosure may be implemented. The system 100 includes a plurality of terminal devices, such as a terminal device 110 and a terminal device 120. The system 100 may further comprise some network functions of a core network 150, such as a proximity services network function 130 and a sensing function 140. In some examples, the sensing function 140 may be located at the access and mobility management function (AMF) , location management function (LMF) , sensing management function (SeMF) of the core network 150 or other network device. The terminal device 120 may be referred to as a first terminal device 120, and for example, it may be a sensing-initiated UE. The sensing-initiated UE may discover other terminal devices for assisting the terminal device 120 in performing sensing for a sensing service. The terminal device 110 may be referred to as a second terminal device, and for example, it may be a sensing assisted UE. The sensing assisted UE may be discovered by a further terminal device in performing sensing for the sensing service. Both the terminal device 110 and the terminal device 120 may interact with the proximity services network function 130, and the proximity services network function 130 may interact with the sensing function 140. In some examples, the terminal device 120 may interact with the sensing function 140.It is to be understood that the number of terminal devices and the network elements is only for the purpose of illustration without suggesting any limitations. The system 100 may include any suitable number of terminal devices and network elements adapted for implementing embodiments of the present disclosure. Although not shown, it would be appreciated that the system may further comprise one or more radio access network nodes, for example, gNBs.Communications in the communication system 100 may be implemented according to any proper communication protocol (s) , comprising, but not limited to, cellular communication protocols of the first generation (1G) , the second generation (2G) , the third generation (3G) , the fourth generation (4G) and the fifth generation (5G) and on the like, wireless local network communication protocols such as Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 and the like, and / or any other protocols currently known or to be developed in the future. Moreover, the communication may utilize any proper wireless communication technology, comprising but not limited to: Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) , Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) , Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) , Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) , Time Division Duplex (TDD) , Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) , Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple (OFDM) , Discrete Fourier Transform spread OFDM (DFT-s-OFDM) and / or any other technologies currently known or to be developed in the future.Fig. 1B (i) and Fig. 1B (ii) illustrate some another example systems in which embodiments of the present disclosure may be implemented. As shown in Fig. 1B (i) , in the system 100-1, a ProSe Function 110-1 and a sensing function 120-1 may communicate with each other, and both of them may communicate with a radio access network (RAN) (e.g., a gNB) 130-1. The Uu interfaces are provided for communication between the RAN 130-1 and a sensing assisted UE 140-1 or a sensing-initiated UE 150-1. LTE Positioning Protocol (LPP) may be used for communication between UEs and LMF for NR (new radio) positioning. As shown in Fig. 1B (ii) , in some embodiments, a 5G Direct Discovery Name Management Function (5G DDNMF) may take the role of "ProSe Function" in 5G system as specified in TS 23.304. The 5G Direct Discovery Name Management Function (5G DDNMF) is a network entity in the 5G Core Network (5GC) supporting Direct Discovery Services. Within the 5GC, the 5G DDNMF in HPLMN invokes services provided by the 5G DDNMF in Local PLMN and / or in VPLMN via the N5g-ddnmf service based interface.Fig. 1C illustrates an example of people’s respiration affecting 3GPP wireless signal propagation in an indoor environment. As mentioned above, sleep monitoring application describes the case that a human’s sleep situation is monitored without any wearable device. Generally, when people is sleeping, regular chest rise and fall will cause additional vibration of the target object when detecting the Doppler, this is defined as the micro Doppler effect in radar (

[0032] : Chen V C. The micro-Doppler effect in radar. Artech house, 2019. ) By observing the micro-Doppler effect, people’s respiration rate per minute can be counted. Fig. 1C describes how the wireless signals that propagated via the established direct network connection (i.e., between the radio access network and 5G UE) will be affected and distorted by the target sensing object. It should be noted that the transmitter as shown in Fig. 1C is an indoor small base station as described in TS 22.261

[0033] (3GPP TS 22.261: “Service requirements for the 5G system” ) . In some examples, the transmitter as shown in Fig. 1C can also be a CPE that is used for this service.Fig. 1D illustrates an example procedure for ProSe direct discovery corresponding to Model A. The example procedure for ProSe direct discovery corresponding to Model A is described below and is only applicable for open and restricted ProSe Direct Discovery when the ProSe enabled UE is served by E-UTRAN (e.g., a base station of a E-UTRAN) .As shown in Fig. 1D, example procedure 100-2 begins at 101. At 101, service authorization for ProSe direct services is performed for ProSe direct discovery as described in TS 23.203, clauses 5.2, and 4.5.1. If the UE 110-2 is authorized to perform announcing (e.g., announcing ProSe Application Code or ProSe Restricted Code on PC5 interface) , steps 103a and 105a will be performed. Specifically, at 103a, when the UE 110-2 is triggered to announce, then it sends a discovery request for announcing to the ProSe Function 120-2 in HPLMN as described in TS 23.203 clauses 5.3.3.2 and 5.3.3.3 for open ProSe direct discovery, and in TS 23.203 clauses 5.3.3.2A and 5.3.3.3A for restricted ProSe Direct Discovery. In addition, for restricted ProSe Direct Discovery, the ProSe Function 120-2 further interacts with a ProSe Application Server 130-2 for the authorization of the discovery request. At 105a, if the request is successful, the UE 110-2 is provided with ProSe Application Code / ProSe Restricted Code, and then it starts announcing on PC5 interface.For ProSe restricted discovery and the UE 110-2 requests "on demand" announcing, ProSe Restricted Code may be provided to UE 110-2 after this procedure. In this case, the UE 110-2 waits for the ProSe Restricted Code allocation and starts to announce the ProSe Restricted Code on PC5 after receiving it in announcing alert procedure specified in clause 5.3.5. It should be noted that more details on the Access Stratum protocol of this step are provided in RAN specifications.If the UE 110-2 is authorized to perform monitoring, steps 103b, 105b and 107b will be performed. Specifically, at 103b, when the UE 110-2 is triggered to monitor, it sends a discovery request for monitoring to the ProSe Function 120-2 as defined in clauses 5.3.3.4 and 5.3.3.5 at section 5.3 of TS 22.303 (V17.1.0) for open ProSe Direct Discovery, and in clauses 5.3.3.2A and 5.3.3.3A at section 5.3 of TS 22.303 (V17.1.0) for restricted ProSe Direct Discovery. In addition, for restricted ProSe Direct Discovery, the ProSe Function 120-2 further interacts with the ProSe Application Server 130-2 for the authorization of the discovery request. At 105b, if the request is successful, and the UE 110-2 is provided with a Discovery Filter consisting of ProSe Application Code (s)  / ProSe Restricted Code (s) and / or ProSe application mask (s) it starts monitoring for these ProSe Application Codes / ProSe Restricted Codes on the PC5 interface. At 107b, when the UE 110-2 detects that one or more ProSe Application Code (s)  / ProSe Restricted Code (s) that match the filter (see clause 4.6.4.2) , it reports the ProSe Application Code (s)  / ProSe Restricted Code (s) to the ProSe Function 120-2 as defined in clause 5.3.4.Fig. 1E illustrates a procedure for ProSe direct discovery corresponding to Model B in some solutions. As shown in Fig. 1E, an example procedure for procedure for ProSe direct discovery (Model B) [TS 23.303] will be introduced below. This procedure below is applied for restricted ProSe direct discovery when the ProSe enabled UE 110-3 is served by E-UTRAN.As shown in Fig. 1E, in process 100-3, at 102, service authorization for ProSe direct services is performed for ProSe direct discovery as defined in clauses 5.2 and 4.5.1. If the UE 110-3 is authorized to perform restricted ProSe direct discovery, Model B, as a discoveree UE 110-3, steps 104a, 106a and 108a will be performed.At 104a, when the UE 110-3 is triggered to perform restricted ProSe direct discovery, Model B, it sends a discovery request to the ProSe Function 120-3 in the HPLMN to obtain a ProSe Response Code as defined in clauses 5.3.3A. 2 and 5.3.3A. 3. The ProSe Function 120-3 further interacts with a ProSe Application Server 130-3 for the authorization of the discovery request.At 106a, if the request is successful, and the UE 110-3 is provided with a ProSe Response Code and an associated Discovery Query Filter (s) , then the UE 110-3 starts monitoring for the ProSe Query Code on PC5 interface. At 108a, if a received ProSe Query Code matches any of the Discovery Query Filter (s) , the UE 110-3 announces the associated ProSe Response Code on the PC5 interface. If the UE 110-3 is authorized to perform restricted ProSe direct discovery, Model B, as a discoverer UE, steps 104b, 106b, 108b and 110b will be performed.At 104b, when the UE 110-3 is triggered to perform restricted ProSe direct discovery, Model B, it sends a discovery request to the ProSe Function 120-3 in the HPLMN for a ProSe Query Code as defined in clauses 5.3.3A. 4 and 5.3.3A. 5. The ProSe Function 120-3 further interacts with ProSe Application Server 130-3 for the authorization of the discovery request.At 106b, if the request is successful, and the UE 110-3 is provided with a ProSe Query Code and the Discovery Response Filter (s) consisting of ProSe Response Code (s) and ProSe application mask (s) , the UE 110-3 announces the ProSe Query Code on the PC5 interface. At 108b, the UE 110-3 starts to monitor on PC5 interface for any ProSe Response Code (s) that might match the Discovery Response Filter (s) . At 110b, when the UE 110-3 detects a match for one or more ProSe Response Code (s) , it reports the ProSe Response Code to the ProSe Function 120-3 as defined in clauses 5.3.4A. 1 and 5.3.4A. 2.In some embodiments of the present disclosure, an enhanced ProSe direct discovery method is proposed for ProSe-based sensing in ISAC, which is beneficial to discover and select qualified ProSe-enabled UEs as the sensing assisted UEs to participate in the sensing measurement service. In the solution of the embodiments of the present disclosure, with reference to Fig. 1A, a UE is an example of the terminal device, a ProSe Function may be an example of the proximity services network function 130, and a sensing management function (SeMF) may be an example of the sensing function 140. A ProSe-enabled UE (called sensing-assisted UE) can proactively transmit a discovery request and provide sensing assistance information to the ProSe Function which at least indicates that it can be discovered and assist other UE (s) to provide sensing measurement service.The sensing assistance information of the UE can comprise but not limited to at least one of discovery role (e.g., announcing or monitoring UE for Model A, discoveree or discoverer UE for Model B) , device location information (e.g., location information for the sensing assisted UE) , sensing service area (e.g. a sensing area for the sensing assisted UE) , sensing role (e.g., transmitter or receiver) , sensing service type for the sensing service, power status / power category (e.g. power status of the sensing assisted device, or power category of the sensing assisted UE) , the sensing service time of the sensing assisted UE. In an embodiment, the sensing assistance information of the UE can be signaled through other message instead of the discovery request, e.g., if the payload of the sensing assistance information is large than a given size. That is, the sensing assistance information may be comprised in a message transmitted to the ProSe Function or comprised in the discovery request.As an example, the discovery role of the sensing-assisted UE can be an announcing UE for the Model A or the discoveree UE for the Model B. Upon receiving the discovery request from the sensing-assisted UE, the ProSe Function will interact with the Sensing Function (SF) and / or the ProSe Function application server for determining an authorization in response to the discovery request, request response information for ProSe Direct Discovery based on the sensing assistance info provided by the sensing-assisted UE. As defined in TS 23.303, the request response can be at least one of a ProSe Application or Restrict Code for the Model A, or ProSe Response Code and an associated Discovery Query Filter (s) for the Model B used for ProSe direct discovery.For the sensing-initiated UE, upon receiving the sensing service request from a ProSe-enabled UE (called sensing-initiated UE) , if certain condition is satisfied (e.g., link quality between the sensing-initiated UE and nearby gNB is worse, or no LoS path existence between them) , the Sensing Function can trigger the sensing-assisted UE to send a discovery request to ProSe Function for discovering sensing-assisted UE. In some examples, the sensing-initiated UE may signal the sensing service request to the SF via the AMF based on non-access stratum (NAS) signal or the AF (application function) . Like the sensing-assisted UE, the sensing-initiated UE will also provide its sensing assistance information, which at least indicates the sensing-initiated UE needs to discover at least one nearby sensing-assisted UE to perform the sensing measurement together, to the ProSe Function through discovery request. As an example, the discovery role of the sensing-initiated UE can be a monitoring UE for Model A or the discoverer UE for Model B.Upon receiving the discovery request from the sensing-initiated UE, the ProSe Function will interact with the Sensing Function and / or the ProSe Function application server for determining an authorization in response to the discovery request, and discovery response information for ProSe Direct Discovery based on the sensing assistance information provided by the sensing-initiated or / and assisted UE (s) .In some examples corresponding to the Model A, the request response may comprise at least one Discovery Filter. In some other examples corresponding to the Model B, the request response may comprise at least one ProSe Query Code and at least one associated Discovery Response Filter (s) for the Model B. In some further examples, the request response may comprise discovery metric for sensing. The Discovery Filter, the ProSe Query Code or / and the associated Discovery Response Filter (s) for Model B may be associated with nearby sensing-assisted UE (s) . The discovery metric for sensing is provided to ensure that the link / channel between the sensing-assisted UE and the initiated UE is qualified for the sensing service.In a process of a discovery operation for ProSe-based sensing, during discovery phase, besides the sensing-initiated UE detects if one or more ProSe Application Code (s)  / ProSe Restricted Code (s) for Model A or one or more ProSe Response Code (s) match the configured filter, it further detects if the discovery metric is satisfied for sensing based on link / channel quality measurement. If both conditions above are satisfied, the sensing-initiated UE may transmit a discovery report (including the ProSe Application Code (s)  / / or channel between the sensing-assisted UE and the initiated UE is qualified for the sensing service. In contrast to existing ProSe discovery procedures, in which the quality of sidelink between the sensing-assisted UE and the initiated UE can’t be guaranteed for the sensing service, the ProSe direct discovery procedures described herein configure a discovery metric or rule to trigger the discover report so that qualified announcing UEs for sensing may be discovered. This provides highly efficient coordination between a ProSe Function and Sensing Function. Moreover, in existing ProSe discovery procedures authorization for discovery and sensing and positioning is separated. However, in the ProSe direct discovery procedure described herein, joint authorization is implemented.Fig. 3A and Fig. 3B are combined to illustrate a procedure for sensing according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. The procedure comprises process 300-1 and process 300-2. The process 300-2 is a continuation to the process 300-1. In the procedure for sensing illustrated in Figs. 3A and 3B, at least one sensing assisted UE 310, at least one sensing-initiated UE 320, a ProSe Function 330 and a sensing function 340 may be involved. As an example, one of the at least one sensing assisted UE 310 and the sensing-initiated UE 320 are shown in Figs. 3A and 3B.In some examples, the Sensing Function 340 is a management function entity for a sensing operation. The Sensing Function 340 includes including various functionalities, including authorization of sensing operation, sensing resource configuration, sensing node selection and / or sensing node discovery. The Sensing Function 340 may be a or the functionalities of the Sensing Function 340 can be as part function of an access and mobility management function (AMF) or a location management function (LMF) in ISAC system (e.g., a wireless communication system (e.g., 5GS) that is capable of or configured for ISAC) . In some examples, a new interface is provided between the ProSe Function 330 and the Sensing Function 340 to enable the corresponding interaction between them.At 301-1, the sensing-assisted UE 310 shall be a ProSe-enabled UE which can be triggered by the high-layer application to transmit a discovery request with sensing assistance information to the ProSe Function 330 for the sensing service.At 301-2, the ProSe Function 330 signals the assistance information of the sensing assisted UE 310 to the Sensing Function 340. The Sensing Function determines whether or not to authorize the discovery request for sensing, e.g., if the sensing assisted UE 310 has been registered as the sensing-enabled UE at the Sensing Function 340, the Sensing Function 340 can authorize the UE 310 to be discovered for sensing, otherwise, it can reject the discovery request. The Sensing Function 340 will indicate the authorization to the ProSe Function 330.The ProSe Function 330 may allocate the discovery request response for the sensing assisted UE 310 at least based on the sensing assistance information of the sensing assisted UE 310. In an example, the discovery request response such as the ProSe Application Code / Restrict Code for Model A, or ProSe Response Code and an associated Discovery Query Filter (s) for Model B can be determined based on device location information, sensing service area, or sensing serving type of the sensing-assisted UE 310.At 301-3, the ProSe Function 330 signals the service authorization and the request response to the sensing-assisted UE 310. At 302-1, the sensing-initiated UE 320 may transmit a sensing service request (or referred to as sensing request) to the Sensing Function 340.At 302-2, upon receiving the sensing service request from the UE 320, the Sensing Function 340 will determine to discover a base station (or gNB) or a CPE / UE to start the sensing service. As an embodiment, the Sensing Function 340 can determine to trigger the sensing-initiated UE 320 to send a discovery request so as to discover a nearby CPE / UE to start the sensing service if at least one of some conditions is satisfied. The conditions may comprise: the sensing-initiated UE 320 is sensing enabled UE; there is at least one authorized sensing-assisted UE 310 nearby the sensing-initiated UE 320; LoS path doesn’t exist between the sensing-initiated UE 320 and nearby gNB (e.g., serving gNB) ; a quality of a link (e.g., reference signal received power (RSRP) or RSSI or reference signal received quality (RSRQ) ) between the sensing-initiated UE 320 and nearby gNB (e.g., serving gNB) is smaller than a given threshold; or the device location or / and sensing service area is within the allowed location or / and area.At 302-3, the sensing-initiated UE 320 may transmit a discovery request with sensing assistance information to the ProSe Function 330. At 302-4, service authorization and request response associated with one or more nearby sensing-assisted UE are determined. The details will be described below. The ProSe Function 330 may signal the assistance information of sensing-initiated UE 320 to the Sensing Function 340. The Sensing Function 340 may determine whether to authorize the discovery request (transmitted by the sensing-initiated UE 320) for sensing. In an example, if the sensing-initiated UE 320 has been triggered to send the ProSe direct discovery, the Sensing Function 340 can authorize the UE 320 to discover nearby sensing-assisted UE 310 for sensing. Based on sensing assistance information (e.g., device location information (indicative of a location of the device) , sensing service area or / and the sensing service type etc. ) provided by the sensing-initiated UE or / and the sensing-assisted UE, the Sensing Function 340 can determine at least one candidate sensing-assisted UE 310 to coordinate with the sensing-initiated UE 320 to perform sensing measurement service together. The Sensing Function 340 may signal the candidate sensing-assisted UE (s) 310 to the ProSe Function 330.In some embodiments, a discovery metric for sensing can be further provided to ProSe Function 330, which shall be carried by the request response to ensure that the link and / orchannel between the sensing-assisted UE 310 and the initiated UE 320 is qualified for sensing. In some embodiments, the discovery metric for sensing can require the quality of the link (e.g., where the quality of the link is determined based on SINR and / or RSRP and /
