[0036] The phrase “in one embodiment” appearing in various places throughout this specification does not necessarily all refer to the same embodiment.
[0037] One embodiment of the present disclosure is to provide a washing machine and a control method of the washing machine that guides washing and drying methods according to a time set by a user.
[0038] One embodiment of the present disclosure is to provide a washing machine and a control method of the washing machine that informs whether laundry can be dried.
[0039] One embodiment of the present disclosure is to provide a washing machine and a control method of the washing machine that sets washing and drying settings using a laundry tag.
[0040] FIG. 1 illustrates a method for a washing machine (1000) to display guide information for completing washing and drying within a user's desired time according to one embodiment of the present disclosure.
[0041] Referring to FIG. 1, the washing machine (1000) can determine whether washing and drying can be completed within the user's desired time. If washing and drying cannot be completed within the user's desired time, the washing machine (1000) can display guidance information for completing washing and drying within the user's desired time.
[0042] The washing machine (1000) can receive user input for setting a desired time until washing and drying of laundry in the washing machine (1000) is completed.
[0043] For example, a user input for changing a desired time can be received by turning the dial (101) within the control panel (1510) to select a rapid washing and drying course, and pressing the + / - button (103). The rapid washing and drying course can be a course for washing a small amount of laundry at a desired time for the user. Upon receiving a user input for changing the desired time, the washing machine (1000) can display the changed desired time.
[0044] The washing machine (1000) can calculate the minimum time required to complete washing and drying of laundry.
[0045] For example, based on receiving a user input of closing the door and pressing the operation button (105), the washing machine (1000) can perform an operation of detecting the weight of the laundry. Based on the detected weight, the washing machine (1000) can calculate the minimum time required to complete washing and drying.
[0046] Additionally, for example, the washing machine (1000) can obtain information on the material and weight of the laundry from the tag of the laundry, and based on the obtained material and weight information, calculate the minimum time required to complete washing and drying.
[0047] The washing machine (1000) can display guide information for completing washing and drying of laundry within the desired time based on determining that the desired time is less than the minimum required time.
[0048] The washing machine (1000) may display information guiding the user to remove a portion of the laundry. For example, referring to FIG. 1, if the desired time set by the user is 40 minutes and the minimum required time calculated based on the weight of the laundry is 50 minutes, the washing machine (1000) may display a phrase (107) indicating that the minimum required time is 50 minutes and a phrase (109) guiding the user to remove a portion of the laundry and then restart the washing machine if the washing machine is to be completed within 40 minutes. As the amount of laundry decreases, the amount of washing water, the time of the washing cycle, the number of rinsing cycles, the time of the rinsing cycle, the time of the spin-drying cycle, and the time of the drying cycle are reduced, and thus the total time required for washing and drying may also be reduced.
[0049] The washing machine (1000) can calculate the amount of laundry to be taken out based on the weight of the laundry and the desired time, and display information guiding the taking out of the calculated amount.
[0050] Additionally, the washing machine (1000) can display information guiding the user to increase the drying temperature for laundry. Furthermore, the washing machine (1000) can display information guiding the user to decrease the drying level for laundry. The higher the drying temperature and the lower the drying level, the shorter the drying time.
[0051] Additionally, the washing machine (1000) can display information guiding the user to change the washing / drying cycle to a cycle that dries laundry with hot air without water washing. In the case of lightly contaminated laundry, the washing and rinsing cycles can be skipped, and instead, the laundry can be dried with hot air to remove dust and sterilize the laundry, thereby reducing the laundry processing time.
[0052] Additionally, the washing machine (1000) can display information guiding the user to change the washing / drying cycle to a steam drying cycle without water washing. For lightly soiled laundry, the washing and rinsing cycles can be skipped, and instead, the laundry can be steamed and then dried, thereby reducing the laundry processing time.
[0053] The washing machine (1000) can receive user input based on the guide information. For example, the washing machine (1000) can receive a user input to remove a portion of laundry and start washing. Additionally, for example, the washing machine (1000) can receive a user input to increase the drying temperature of the laundry.
[0054] Based on receiving user input according to the guide information, the washing machine (1000) can recalculate the minimum required time for completing washing and drying of laundry. Furthermore, based on determining that the desired time is greater than the recalculated minimum required time, the washing machine (1000) can operate the washing components and drying components to wash and dry the laundry within the desired time.
[0055] By providing the amount of laundry and the washing and drying method to match the desired time of the user, the user can easily change the settings of the washing machine (1000) so that the laundry is washed and dried within the desired time.
[0056] Additionally, if a user needs to wash and dry one or two sets of clothes in a hurry, the washing machine (1000) can inform the user how to wash and dry them within a desired time.
[0057] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, the washing machine (1000) provides predetermined time-consuming options and can wash and dry laundry according to a washing cycle and a drying cycle corresponding to a selected time-consuming option without measuring the weight of the laundry.
[0058] For example, the washing machine (1000) may display multiple time-consuming options based on receiving a user input selecting a rapid washing / drying course. Based on receiving a user input selecting one of the multiple time-consuming options, the washing machine (1000) may perform washing and drying according to washing and drying settings corresponding to the selected time-consuming option without measuring the weight of the laundry.
[0059] By omitting the action of measuring the weight of the laundry, the required time can be reduced, and the user can complete washing and drying within the selected required time.
[0060] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, the washing machine (1000) can store washing setting values and drying setting values of laundry corresponding to the tag ID of the tag attached to the laundry as the washing components are driven.
[0061] After washing and drying of laundry is completed, when the next washing starts, based on the detection of the same tag ID through the tag reader, the washing machine (1000) can automatically set the washing setting value and drying setting value stored in response to the tag ID.
[0062] When a small amount of laundry is washed, the tag ID, washing and drying method for the laundry is stored, and when the same tag ID is detected again, the washing and drying settings are automatically set according to the previous usage history, eliminating the need to input separate washing settings for small amounts of frequently used laundry.
[0063] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, the washing machine (1000) can determine whether drying of laundry is possible. Furthermore, based on determining that drying of laundry is not possible, the washing machine (1000) can output a notification indicating that drying of laundry is not possible upon completion of the washing cycle. Furthermore, based on determining that drying of laundry is not possible, the washing machine (1000) can await user input without performing the drying cycle.
[0064] The washing machine (1000) determines the material of the laundry during the wash cycle after loading it and, if the laundry is undesired, notifies the user, allowing the user to recognize that the laundry is undesired. Furthermore, the user can choose whether or not to proceed with drying the undesired laundry.
[0065] FIG. 2 illustrates a block diagram of a washing machine (1000) according to one embodiment of the present disclosure.
[0066] Referring to FIG. 2, the washing machine (1000) may include a processor (1100), memory (1400), a display (1610), an input interface (1500), washing components (1800), and drying components (1900).
[0067] The processor (1100) can typically control the overall operation of the washing machine (1000). The processor (1100) can control the display (1610), input interface (1500), washing components (1800), and drying components (1900) by executing programs stored in the memory (1400).
[0068] The memory (1400) stores various information, data, commands, programs, etc. required for the operation of the washing machine (1000). For example, the memory (1400) can store the amount of washing water according to the weight of the laundry, the time of the washing cycle, the number of rinsing cycles, the time of the rinsing cycle, the time of the spin-drying cycle, and the time of the drying cycle. In addition, for example, the memory (1400) can store washing setting values and drying setting values corresponding to the tag ID of the laundry.
[0069] The washing component (1800) may include a drum and a rotary motor for rotating the drum. Additionally, the washing component (1800) may include a water supply valve and a drain valve.
[0070] The processor (1100) can control the washing components (1800) to perform washing, rinsing, and dehydration operations.
[0071] The washing cycle is a cycle in which water supplied from the water supply valve flows into the tub through the detergent supply device containing the detergent, and then rotates the drum to remove contamination from the laundry. The process can proceed in the order of water supply, washing, draining, and general spin-drying.
[0072] The rinse cycle is a cycle in which water supplied from the water supply valve flows into the tub without passing through the detergent supply unit, or, in the case of the final rinse cycle, flows into the tub through the fabric softener compartment containing the fabric softener, and then rotates the drum to remove any detergent remaining on the laundry. The cycle can proceed in the following order: water supply, rinse, drain, general spin, and rinse. The rinse cycle can be repeated two or more times.
[0073] The spin cycle is a cycle that separates water from laundry by rotating the drum at high speed, and can be performed in the order of draining and strong spin cycle.
[0074] The processor (1100) can control the drying components (1900) to perform a drying process. The drying process may be a process for removing moisture from laundry. The drying components (1900) may include at least one of a heat pump that removes moisture from laundry by circulating a refrigerant or a heater that removes moisture from laundry by heating air.
[0075] The display (1610) can output image data processed by an image processing unit (not shown) through a display panel (not shown) under the control of the processor (1100). The display (1610) can display a set washing course, washing setting values, drying setting values, remaining time, etc.
[0076] The input interface (1500) can convert information received from the user into an electrical signal. The input interface (1500) can include a power button, an operation button, a course selection dial (or a course selection button), and a wash / rinse / spin setting button.
[0077] At least one processor (1100) can receive, via the input interface (1500), a user input setting a desired time until washing and drying of laundry in the washing machine (1000) is completed.
[0078] Additionally, at least one processor (1100) may calculate the minimum required time for completing washing and drying of laundry. For example, at least one processor (1100) may calculate the minimum required time for completing washing and drying of laundry based on the weight of the laundry.
[0079] Additionally, at least one processor (1100) may display guide information for completing washing and drying of laundry within a desired time based on determining that the desired time is less than the minimum required time through the display (1610).
[0080] Additionally, at least one processor (1100) can wash and dry laundry within a desired time by driving the washing components (1800) and the drying components (1900) based on receiving user input according to the guide information.
[0081] Meanwhile, for convenience of explanation, the washing component (1800) and drying component (1900) may be functionally separate components that perform washing and drying of clothing in a single device. That is, the washing machine (1000) according to one embodiment of the present invention may be a commonly referred to washing and drying machine.
[0082] FIG. 3 illustrates a flowchart of a method for a washing machine (1000) to display guide information for completing washing and drying within a user's desired time, according to one embodiment of the present disclosure.
[0083] In step S310, the washing machine (1000) may receive a user input setting a desired time until washing and drying of the laundry is completed.
[0084] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, the washing machine (1000) can provide a predetermined course that completes washing and drying within a user's desired time. Based on receiving a user input for selecting the predetermined course, the washing machine (1000) can provide a user interface for setting the desired time. The washing machine (1000) can receive a user input for setting the desired time through the user interface.
[0085] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, the washing machine (1000) may be provided with a user interface on the control panel for setting a desired time. In this case, the washing machine (1000) may receive user input for setting a desired time for laundry without user input for selecting a course.
[0086] In step S320, the washing machine (1000) can calculate the minimum required time to complete washing and drying of the laundry.
[0087] The washing machine (1000) can calculate the minimum required time based on the weight of the laundry.
[0088] Based on receiving a user input to start washing after selecting a desired time, the washing machine (1000) can perform an operation of measuring the weight of laundry inside the drum. For example, as the weight of laundry increases, friction between the drum and the laundry increases when the drum rotates, and thus, the current consumption of the rotation motor that rotates the drum may increase. Accordingly, the washing machine (1000) can drive the rotation motor to rotate the drum and determine the weight of the laundry based on the current consumption of the rotation motor. In addition, for example, the washing machine (1000) can obtain weight information and material information of the laundry from the tag of the laundry through the tag reader of the washing machine (1000).
[0089] The washing machine (1000) can calculate the minimum required time to complete washing and drying of laundry based on the determined weight of the laundry.
[0090] For example, the washing machine (1000) can store a minimum required time corresponding to the weight of the laundry. The minimum required time corresponding to the weight of the laundry can be experimentally determined. In this case, the minimum required time can be experimentally obtained after the washing and drying settings are set so that the time required for each required cycle is minimized.
[0091] For example, to avoid heating the wash water during the wash cycle, the wash temperature can be set to cold water. Furthermore, the number of rinse cycles can be set to one. The drying temperature can also be set to operate the heat pump and heater simultaneously. Furthermore, to increase the drying temperature, the compressor frequency and the blower fan speed can be set to the maximum possible, but still below the hot air temperature that damages the laundry. Furthermore, during the wash cycle, the amount of wash water and detergent supplied can be set to the minimum.
[0092] Accordingly, the washing machine (1000) can store the minimum required time obtained and the washing setting value and drying setting value when the minimum required time is calculated in response to the weight of the laundry.
[0093] For example, a minimum required time of 50 minutes may be stored corresponding to a laundry weight of 0.5 kg. In addition, times for washing, rinsing, and spin-drying operations may be stored corresponding to the laundry weight. For example, for a washing operation corresponding to 0.5 kg, a minimum water supply time of 2 minutes, a cold water-only wash of 5 minutes, a minimum water drain time of 1 minute, and a 400 rpm spin-dry of 3 minutes may be stored. In addition, for a rinsing operation corresponding to 0.5 kg, a minimum water supply time of 2 minutes, a minimum rinse of 3 minutes, a minimum water drain time of 1 minute, and a 400 rpm spin-dry of 4 minutes may be stored. In addition, for a drying operation corresponding to a laundry weight of 0.5 kg, a drying time of 29 minutes may be stored. Accordingly, a minimum required time of 50 minutes may be stored corresponding to 0.5 kg.
[0094] Also, for example, for a laundry weight of 1.0 kg, a washing cycle may be stored with a minimum water supply time of 2 minutes, a cold water-only wash of 5 minutes, a minimum water drain time of 1 minute, and a 400 rpm spin of 3 minutes. Also, for a laundry weight of 1.0 kg, a first rinsing cycle may be stored with a minimum water supply time of 2 minutes, a minimum rinse of 3 minutes, a minimum water drain time of 1 minute, and a 400 rpm spin of 3 minutes. Also, for a laundry weight of 1.0 kg, a second rinsing cycle may be stored with a minimum water supply time of 2 minutes, a minimum rinse of 3 minutes, a minimum water drain time of 1 minute, and a 400 rpm spin of 4 minutes. Also, for a laundry weight of 1.0 kg, a drying cycle may be stored with a drying time of 30 minutes. Accordingly, a minimum required time of 60 minutes may be stored with a laundry weight of 1.0 kg.
[0095] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, the washing machine (1000) can adjust the minimum required time corresponding to the weight of the laundry based on the material of the laundry. For example, if the laundry is made of knit, the washing machine (1000) can reduce the spin-drying time and drying time by a ratio corresponding to the knit material. Furthermore, if the laundry is made of cotton T-shirt, the drying time can be reduced by a ratio corresponding to the cotton material to prevent shrinkage of the fabric. The ratio by which the minimum required time is adjusted can be experimentally determined.
[0096] The washing machine (1000) can obtain information on the material of the laundry from the tag of the laundry. In addition, the washing machine (1000) can determine the material of the laundry based on the current of the motor that rotates the drum.
[0097] In step S330, the washing machine (1000) may display guide information for completing washing and drying of laundry within the desired time based on determining that the desired time is less than the minimum required time.
[0098] The washing machine (1000) can perform washing and drying based on the desired time, based on determining that the desired time is greater than the minimum required time. The washing machine (1000) can change the setting values of the washing cycle, rinsing cycle, and drying cycle so that the required time for washing and drying becomes the desired time, and can perform washing and drying based on the changed setting values.
[0099] For example, if the desired time is greater than the minimum required time, the washing machine (1000) may increase the number of rinse cycles. If the desired time becomes less than the minimum required time when the number of rinse cycles is increased, the washing machine (1000) may increase the washing time, rinsing time, and drying time to match the desired time without changing the number of rinse cycles.
[0100] The washing machine (1000) can display guide information for completing washing and drying of laundry within the desired time based on determining that the desired time is less than the minimum required time.
[0101] The washing machine (1000) may display guide information guiding the removal of a portion of the laundry. In this case, the washing machine (1000) may guide the removal of the garment that takes the longest to wash and dry among the laundry. For example, the washing machine (1000) may obtain identification information and weight of each garment in the laundry and display guide information guiding the removal of a portion of the laundry along with the identification information of the heaviest garment. In addition, for example, the washing machine (1000) may obtain identification information and material of each garment in the laundry and display guide information guiding the removal of a portion of the laundry along with the identification information of the garment made of the material that takes the longest to wash among the laundry.
[0102] The washing machine (1000) can display guide information that guides to increase the drying temperature of laundry. The washing machine (1000) can display guide information that guides to decrease the drying level of laundry. The washing machine (1000) can display guide information that guides to change the washing and drying course of the washing machine (1000) to a course that dries laundry with hot air without washing and rinsing.
[0103] The washing machine (1000) can display two or more pieces of guide information simultaneously. For example, the washing machine (1000) can display guide information guiding to increase the drying temperature and guide information guiding to decrease the drying level. Additionally, the washing machine (1000) can select at least one piece of guide information from among multiple pieces of guide information and display only the selected piece of guide information.

The tag ID of the previous laundry may be a tag ID of laundry obtained from previous washes. The washing machine (1000) can store the usage history corresponding to the tag ID of the laundry when washing and drying are completed. Accordingly, the usage history can be stored corresponding to the tag ID of the previous laundry. If multiple tag IDs are obtained from a single wash, information regarding the usage history can be stored corresponding to the multiple tag IDs.
[0209] Information about usage history may include, but is not limited to, washing and drying cycle, washing settings, drying settings, drying time, drying degree, and total time required.
[0210] In step S1430, the washing machine (1000) determines that there is a tag ID of a previous laundry item corresponding to the tag ID of the acquired laundry item, and based on information about the usage history stored corresponding to the tag ID of the previous laundry item, the washing setting value and the drying setting value can be set in the washing machine (1000).
[0211] For example, when a user input to turn on the power is received, the washing machine (1000) can set the washing setting value and the drying setting value to the washing machine (1000) based on information about the usage history stored corresponding to the tag ID of the previous laundry that is the same as the tag ID of the current laundry.
[0212] In step S1440, the washing machine (1000) can perform washing and drying according to the set washing setting value and drying setting value upon receiving a user input to start washing.
[0213] Accordingly, in a small amount of laundry, the washing machine (1000) identifies the laundry and automatically sets the washing and drying settings based on the previous usage history, so that the user can perform washing and drying without repeating the same settings for the same laundry.
[0214] FIG. 15 illustrates a method for a washing machine (1000) to perform washing and drying according to a tag ID of laundry according to one embodiment of the present disclosure.
[0215] Referring to FIG. 15, the washing machine (1000) can store usage history corresponding to the tag ID of the laundry, and provide the stored usage history based on the detection of the same tag ID during the next wash.
[0216] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, a tag reader may be installed inside the washing machine (1000). For example, an RFID reader (1755) may be installed inside the washing machine (1000) to recognize an RFID tag of laundry inside the drum. When a user input for turning on the washing machine (1000) is received, the washing machine (1000) may obtain information about the laundry from the RFID tag of the laundry inside the drum through the RFID reader (1755).
[0217] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, a tag reader may be provided on the front of the washing machine (1000). For example, based on receiving a user input bringing the QR code of the laundry close to the QR code recognition device on the front of the washing machine (1000), the washing machine (1000) may recognize the QR code of the laundry through the QR code recognition device.
[0218] As the washing machine (1000) completes washing and drying of laundry, it can store information on the usage history of the laundry corresponding to the tag ID of the laundry. Information on the usage history may include, but is not limited to, the washing and drying course, washing settings, drying settings, drying time, drying level, and total time required.
[0219] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, the washing machine (1000) can store information on the usage history corresponding to the tag ID of the laundry only when a desired time is set by the user and washing and drying are completed according to the desired time of the user.
[0220] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, the washing machine (1000) can store information on the usage history corresponding to the tag ID of the laundry only when the setting values for washing and drying are changed by the user in the previously stored washing and drying course.
[0221] As shown in Table (151) of FIG. 15, the washing machine (1000) can store information on the usage history of the laundry in response to the tag ID obtained from the laundry as the washing and drying of the laundry is completed.
[0222] When the next wash cycle begins, the tag ID in which the usage history is stored is detected again through the tag reader of the washing machine (1000), and the washing machine (1000) can set the washing setting value and drying setting value stored in response to the tag ID.
[0223] For example, when a user input to turn on the power for the next wash is received, based on the tag ID of the laundry being acquired, the washing machine (1000) can set the washing setting value and the drying setting value based on the information about the usage history stored corresponding to the tag ID that is the same as the acquired tag ID.
[0224] For example, when a user input for closing the door and turning on the power is received, the washing machine (1000) can determine whether there is a history of washing and drying the same laundry as the laundry in the drum based on the tag ID (e.g., ID3, ID4) of the laundry in the drum. Based on the search for a tag ID that is the same as the tag ID (e.g., ID3, ID4) of the laundry among the user history information, it can be determined that there is a history of washing and drying the same laundry. The washing machine (1000) can set the washing setting value and the drying setting value (washing and drying setting 3 in the table (151) of FIG. 15) based on the information about the usage history corresponding to the searched tag ID. When the laundry has multiple tag IDs, the washing machine (1000) can determine the same tag ID only when all of the multiple tag IDs are the same.
[0225] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, when a user input is received for selecting a 'quick washing and drying' course, which is a course in which washing and drying are completed within a user's desired time, the washing machine (1000) can determine whether there is a history of washing and drying the same laundry as the laundry in the drum.
[0226] Additionally, the washing machine (1000) can display information (155) regarding the time required for washing and drying according to the usage history stored in response to the tag of the laundry.
[0227] The washing machine (1000) can display the set washing settings and drying settings. In addition, the washing machine (1000) can display information (153) indicating that the currently set washing settings and drying settings are settings based on the usage history stored in response to the tag of the laundry.
[0228] The washing machine (1000) can perform washing and drying according to the set washing setting value and drying setting value upon receiving a user input to start washing by pressing the operation button (510).
[0229] FIG. 16 is a flowchart of a method for a washing machine (1000) to provide a drying failure notification for laundry according to one embodiment of the present disclosure.
[0230] In step S1610, the washing machine (1000) can perform washing according to the washing cycle of the washing and drying course.
[0231] In step S1620, the washing machine (1000) can determine whether the material of the laundry is a dryable material.
[0232] The washing machine (1000) can obtain information about the laundry from the laundry tag inside the drum through a tag reader, and the information about the laundry can include the material of the laundry. The washing machine (1000) can obtain an image of the laundry through a camera inside the washing machine (1000). The washing machine (1000) can determine the material of the laundry based on the image of the laundry. The washing machine (1000) can determine the material of the laundry based on the current of the rotation motor that rotates the drum during the washing cycle. The washing machine (1000) can determine the material of the laundry based on the amount of water drained during the washing cycle or the rinsing cycle.
[0233] The washing machine (1000) can determine whether the material of the determined laundry is a dryable material. For example, if the material of the laundry is leather, fur, velvet, silk, wool, latex, or rubber, the washing machine (1000) can determine that the material of the laundry is a non-dryable material.
[0234] In step S1620, based on determining that the material of the laundry is a non-dryable material, in step S1630, the washing machine (1000) can output information indicating that the material of the laundry is a non-dryable material.
[0235] Based on determining that the material of the laundry is non-dryable, the washing machine (1000) may output a predetermined alarm sound. The predetermined alarm sound may be a voice indicating that non-dryable laundry is present in the drum. Additionally, the predetermined alarm sound may be a predetermined buzzer sound.
[0236] The washing machine (1000) can output an alarm sound after the washing process is completed and before starting the drying process.
[0237] Additionally, the washing machine (1000) may transmit a notification to the user device via the server informing that there is laundry that cannot be dried in the drum. The user device may display the notification received from the server.
[0238] The washing machine (1000) can send a notification to the user device via the server to inform that there is laundry that cannot be dried in the drum before the washing process is completed or before the drying process begins after the washing process is completed.
[0239] In step S1640, the washing machine (1000) can determine whether to proceed with the drying process of the laundry based on a user input as to whether to proceed with drying the laundry.
[0240] The washing machine (1000) can display a user interface for selecting whether to proceed with drying the laundry.
[0241] The washing machine (1000) can determine whether to proceed with the drying process for laundry based on a user input regarding whether to proceed with drying the laundry. Furthermore, the washing machine (1000) can receive a user input regarding whether to proceed with drying the laundry from a user device via a server, and determine whether to proceed with the drying process for laundry based on the received user input.
[0242] If a user input regarding whether to proceed with the drying process is not received even after the washing process is completed, the washing machine (1000) may wait without proceeding with the drying process.
[0243] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, the washing machine (1000) can prevent wrinkles from forming on laundry by driving a blower fan while waiting for a user input.
[0244] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, the washing machine (1000) may perform the rinsing cycle and the spin-drying cycle again to prevent the laundry from smelling or becoming wrinkled based on the waiting time for the user input exceeding the predetermined time.
[0245] In step S1620, based on determining that the material of the laundry is a dryable material or receiving a user input to proceed with drying the laundry even though the material of the laundry is a non-dryable material in step S1640, in step S1650, the washing machine (1000) can proceed with a drying process after completing the washing process.
[0246] After performing the drying process in step S1650 or upon receiving a user input to select not to dry the laundry when the material of the laundry is a non-dryable material in step S1640, the washing machine (1000) may end the drying process in step S1660.
[0247] Accordingly, if the user determines that the laundry is not of high importance and drying is acceptable, the user can proceed with the drying process. Furthermore, if the laundry contains expensive or important items, the user can terminate the washing and drying process without proceeding with the drying process.
