AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing color congregation processes for non-destructive testing of roller bearing components, particularly rolling bodies, struggle to detect very fine cracks and surface defects due to limitations in sensitivity and reliability.

Method used

A color congregation process that involves irradiating the roller bearing component with fluorescence dye and measuring the delay time of fluorescence photons to detect surface errors, using a test device equipped with a light source, detector, and evaluation unit for automatic data collection and analysis.

Benefits of technology

This approach allows for faster and more reliable detection of surface errors, including very fine cracks, by suppressing background signals and enhancing contrast between defective and non-defective areas, thereby improving the accuracy and efficiency of roller bearing component testing.

Abstract

The invention relates to a dye-penetration method for the nondestructive testing of a bearing component, in particular of a rolling-bearing component (12), comprising the steps: (a) irradiating the bearing component (12) provided with a fluorescent dye (30) with excitation photons (20), so that fluorescent photons (28) are generated; (b) detecting fluorescent photons (28); (c) recording the delay time (t) of the fluorescent photons (28) between the excitation photons (20) impinging on the bearing component (12) and the emission of the fluorescent photon (28.1); and (d) determining surface defects (32) of the bearing component (12) on the basis of the delay times (t).
