AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing house jacking systems face challenges in confined spaces and require tedious assembly and substantial digging, making them inefficient and unsafe for heavy-duty applications like lifting houses.

Method used

A jacking system comprising a support post, a frame with a distal bracing member, and a lifting arm connected to the frame, allowing a jack to be positioned inside the frame and extending to drive the frame and lifting arm along the support post's longitudinal axis, thereby lifting heavy objects like house foundations without direct access underneath.

Benefits of technology

The system enables efficient and safe lifting of heavy objects by allowing assembly adjacent to the object, minimizing disruption to existing support structures, and providing more space for repairs or new support structures, while also allowing for quick assembly and disassembly.

Abstract

A jacking system enables lifting a heavy object, such as a side or corner of a house, without needing to place a jack directly under the heavy object. The system includes: a support post; a frame that fits around the support post, the frame comprising a distal bracing member; and a lifting arm connected to the frame and that extends outward from the support post. In use a jack is positioned inside the frame and adjacent a distal end of the support post, and extending the jack forces a ram of the jack against an underside of the bracing member and a bottom of the jack against the distal end of the support post, driving the frame and the lifting arm along a longitudinal axis of the support post.
