Abstract

A sewing machine (100) comprises: a belt feeding mechanism (80) that feeds an object (C) to be sewn by means of a conveyance belt (81) that contacts the object (C) to be sewn from above on a needle plate (11); a lower pressing member (31A) that protrudes and retracts from an opening of the needle plate (11) by a vertical movement synchronized with a sewing needle (24); an upper pressing member (71) that is provided so as to face the lower pressing member (31A) with a gap from the upper surface of the needle plate (11); and a lifting / lowering motion mechanism (30) that imparts, to the lower pressing member (31A), a lifting / lowering motion for pressing the object (C) to be sewn by rising in synchronism with the descent of the sewing needle (24).
