[0032] Wireless Network Overview

[0033] A wireless communication network may include a radio access network for providing network access to wireless terminal devices, and a core network for routing data between the access networks or between the wireless network and other types of data networks. In a wireless access network, radio resources are provided for allocation and used for transmitting data and control information. FIG. 1 shows an exemplary wireless access network 100 including a wireless access network node (WANN) or wireless base station 102 (herein referred to as wireless base station, base station, wireless access node, wireless access network node, or WANN) and a wireless terminal device or user equipment (UE) 104 (herein referred to as user equipment, UE, terminal device, or wireless terminal device) that communicates with one another via over-the-air (OTA) radio communication resources 106. The wireless access network 100 may be implemented as, as for example, a 2G, 3G, 4G / LTE, or 5G cellular radio access network. Correspondingly, the base station 102 may be implemented as a 2G base station, a 3G node B, an LTE eNB, or a 5G New Radio (NR) gNB. The user equipment 104 may be implemented as mobile or fixed communication devices  installed with mobile identity modules for accessing the base station 102. The user equipment 104 may include but is not limited to mobile phones, laptop computers, tablets, personal digital assistants, wearable devices, distributed remote sensor devices, and desktop computers. Alternatively, the wireless access network 100 may be implemented as other types of radio access networks, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ZigBee, and WiMax networks.

[0034] FIG. 2 further shows example processing components of the WANN 102 and the UE 104 of FIG. 1. The UE 104, for example, may include transceiver circuitry 206 coupled to one or more antennas 208 to effectuate wireless communication with the WANN 102 (or to other UEs) . The transceiver circuitry 206 may also be coupled to a processor 210, which may also be coupled to a memory 212 or other storage devices. The memory 212 may be transitory or non-transitory and may store therein computer instructions or code which, when read and executed by the processor 210, cause the processor 210 to implement various ones of the, functions, methods, and processes of the UE 104 described herein. The memory 212 may also store therein, and the processor 210 may also be configured to execute one or more models (e.g., Artificial Intelligence  / Machine Learning (AI / ML) models) to perform one or more functionalities (e.g., AI / ML functionalities) . The memory 212 may also be utilized and allocated for buffering UL and DL transmissions in each band / carrier. The memory 212 may include multiple memory modules assigned to different functions (such as program memory, base band memory, and / or RF memory, to name a few) . Likewise, the WANN 102 may include transceiver circuitry 214 coupled to one or more antennas 216, which may include an antenna tower 218 in various forms, to effectuate wireless communications with the UE 104. The transceiver circuitry 214 may be coupled to one or more processors 220, which may further be coupled to a memory 222 or other storage devices. The memory 222 may be transitory or non-transitory and may store therein instructions or code that, when read and executed by the one or more processors 220, cause the one or more processors 220 to implement various functions, methods, and processes of the WANN 102 described herein.

[0035] Wireless Communication Resource Scheduling / Signaling

[0036] Returning to FIG. 1, the radio communication resources for the over-the-air interface 106 may include a combination of frequency, time, and / or spatial communication  resources organized into various resource units or elements in frequency, time, and / or space. The radio communication resources 106 in frequency domain may include portions of licensed radio frequency bands, portions of unlicensed ration frequency bands, or portions of a mix of both licensed and unlicensed radio frequency bands. The radio communication resources 106 available for carrying the wireless communication signals between the base station 102 and user equipment 104 may be further divided into physical downlink channels 110 for transmitting wireless signals from the base station 102 to the user equipment 104 and physical uplink channels 120 for transmitting wireless signals from the user equipment 104 to the base station 102. The physical downlink channels 110 may further include physical downlink control channels (PDCCHs) 112 and physical downlink shared channels (PDSCHs) 114. Likewise, the physical uplink channels 120 may further include physical uplink control channels (PUCCHs) 122 and physical uplink shared channels (PUSCHs) 124. For simplification, other types of downlink and uplink channels are not shown in FIG. 1 but are within the scope of the current disclosure. The control channels PDCCHs 112 and PUCCHs 122 may be used for carrying control information in the form of control messages 116 and 126, herein referred to as Downlink Control Information (DCI) messages or Uplink Control Information (UCI) messages. The shared channels (shared between data and control information) PDSCHs 114 and PUSCHs 124 may be allocated and used for communicating downlink data transmissions 118 and uplink data transmissions 128 between the base station 102 and the user equipment 104.

[0037] The allocation and configuration of the radio communication resources associated with the data channels, such as the PDSCHs and the PUSCHs may be provided by one or more resource scheduling DCIs carried in the PDCCHs. The PDCCHs may be shared by a plurality of UEs in the access network. In various approaches, a particular UE may be configured to perform blind decode procedures on a preconfigured UE-specific Search Space (USS) to detect and identify a payload of a resource scheduling DCI carried in the PDCCH that specifically targets the particular UE. The blind decoding may be performed on preconfigured monitoring occasions of the PDCCH associated with USS. Such monitoring occasions may be referred to as a set of PDCCH candidates. Each PDCCH candidate may  be associated with a set of Control Channel Elements (CCEs) . The UE may specifically use its Radio Network Temporary Identifier (RNTI) to decode the PDCCH candidates. The RNTI may be used to demask a PDCCH candidate’s CRC. If no CRC error is detected, the UE determines that PDCCH candidate carries its own control information. The UE may then process the DCI and extract the resource allocation information pertaining to the PDSCH and / or PUSCH for receiving and / or transmitting data.

[0038] Description of New Synchronization Signal Block (SSB)

[0039] Embodiment 1

[0040] In various embodiments, a base station 102 transmits First Physical Broadcast Channel (FPBCH) , a Primary Synchronization Signal (PSS) , and a Secondary Synchronization Signal (SSS) , to the UE 104. The FPBCH carries first synchronization information. The FPBCH, PSS, and SSS are in consecutive symbols, where the PSS is transmitted in the first symbol, SSS is transmitted in the third symbol, and FPBCH is transmitted in the second and fourth symbol. In the frequency domain, an SSB consists of M contiguous subcarriers, where the FPBCH occupies the M subcarriers in the second and fourth symbol. M is integer number. The PSS and SSS occupy M subcarriers in the first symbol and the third symbol, respectively. In other words, the PSS, SSS, and PBCH occupy the same subcarriers in frequency domain. The resource mapping of the SSB in accordance with this example is shown in FIG. 4 and Table 1, below.

[0041] TABLE 1

[0042] In one example design, M is equal to 288. With this, the FPBCH in the second and the fourth symbol occupy 576 subcarriers in total, which is the same as that for the existing 5G SSB design.

[0043] The PSS and SSS in the first and third symbol occupy more subcarriers than the existing 5G SSB and thus can hold a longer sequence. The longer sequence can increase the successful detection rate of PSS and SSS. Thus, in order to keep the same detection rate of PSS and SSS, the base station 102 can increase the periodicity of SSB with this longer sequence of PSS and SSS. In other words, the base station 102 can transmit the SSB less frequently and thus reduce the power consumption.

[0044] In various embodiments throughout, he synchronization information comprises system frame number (or partial bits of the system frame number) , subcarrier spacing, DMRS configuration, PDCCH configuration, SSB index and / or half radio frame, etc.

[0045] Embodiment 2

[0046] In this second embodiment (as well as others) , the base station 102 transmits FPBCH, PSS, and SSS to the UE 104. The example resource mapping in accordance with this embodiment is shown in FIG. 5 and Table 2, below. In this example, the FPBCH, PSS, and SSS are in consecutive symbols, where the PSS is transmitted in the first symbol, SSS is transmitted in the third symbol, and FPBCH is transmitted in the second and fourth symbols. In the frequency domain, an SSB consists of M contiguous subcarriers. The PSS occupy the top N subcarriers (higher part) and bottom N subcarriers (lower part) in the first symbol, with P subcarriers gap in between the two parts. Similarly, the SSS occupy the top N subcarriers (higher part) and bottom N subcarriers (lower part) in the third symbol with P subcarriers gap in between the two parts. The complex-valued symbols corresponding to resource elements of the P subcarriers of the gap may be set to zero. M, P and N are integer numbers, and M=P+2·N.

[0047] TABLE 2

[0048] In various examples, M may be equal to 288 and N may be equal to 127. In this example, the FPBCH in the second the fourth symbol occupy 576 subcarriers in total, which is the same as that for the existing 5G SSB design.

[0049] Similarly, the PSS and SSS in the first and third symbol may occupy more subcarriers than the existing 5G SSB and thus can hold longer sequence. Meanwhile, the P subcarriers can be set to zero. The UE 104 can use these P subcarriers to measure the inter-cell interference. Additionally, the top N subcarriers or the bottom N subcarriers in the first symbol can be compatible with the 5G PSS design, then legacy UEs can also apply this new design to acquire time domain synchronization.

[0050] Embodiment 3

[0051] In this third embodiment (as well as others) , the base station 102 transmits FPBCH, PSS, and SSS to the UE 104. The example resource mapping in accordance with this embodiment is shown in FIG. 6 and Table 3, below. In this example, the FPBCH, PSS, and SSS are in consecutive symbols, where the PSS is transmitted in the first symbol, SSS is transmitted in the third symbol, and FPBCH is transmitted in the second and fourth symbols.  In the frequency domain, an SSB may consist of M contiguous subcarriers. The lower part of N subcarriers of the PSS may start from a subcarrier that is T subcarriers from the bottom, and the higher part of N subcarriers of the PSS may end at a subcarrier that is T subcarriers from the top. Similarly, the lower part of N subcarriers of the SSS may start from the subcarrier that is T subcarriers from the bottom, and the higher part of N subcarriers of the SSS may end at the subcarrier that is T subcarriers from the top. T is integer number larger than 0.

[0052] TABLE 3

[0053] The T subcarriers at the bottom or at the top of the PSS and SSS can be applied as the gap between regular data / control channel and PSS / SSS to avoid interference with each other. Normally, the PSS / SSS utilize sequence to carry information for fast synchronization, while the regular data / control channel utilize OFDM symbol to carry information. However, the FPBCH may also apply OFDM symbols to carry information, and thus there may be no need to reserve any gap between the FPBCH and regular data / control channel since the  OFDM symbols are orthogonal.

[0054] Alternatively, as is illustrated in FIG. 7 and Table 4, below, the lower part of N subcarriers of the PSS may start from the subcarrier that is T1 subcarriers from the bottom, and the higher part of N subcarriers of the PSS may end at the subcarrier that is T2 subcarriers from the top. Similarly, the lower part of N subcarriers of the SSS may start from the subcarrier that is T1 subcarriers from the bottom, and the higher part of N subcarriers of the SSS may end at the subcarrier that is T2 subcarriers from the top. T1 and T2 are integer numbers, and T1 may be not equal to T2.

[0055] TABLE 4

[0056] In order to increase the orthogonality among different PSS (or SSS) sequences, the length of these sequences may be normally a prime number. Meanwhile, in order to further keep P subcarriers for forward compatibility (e.g., transmitting synchronization in the P subcarriers) and maintain the P subcarriers are central symmetry, the T1 may not be equal to T2, for example, T2 may be larger than T1. Because normally the SSB will be deployed  at the bottom of the frequency resources, the interference from other regular data / control channel normally comes from the higher frequency. Thus, larger gap (T2) can better alleviate the interference.

[0057] Embodiment 4

[0058] In this fourth embodiment (as well as others) , the base station 102 transmits FPBCH, Secondary Physical Broadcast Channel (SPBCH) , PSS, and SSS to the UE 104. The example resource mapping in accordance with this embodiment is shown in FIG. 8 and Table 5, below. In this example, the FPBCH, PSS, and SSS are in consecutive symbols, where the PSS is transmitted in the first symbol, SSS is transmitted in the third symbol, and FPBCH is transmitted in the second and fourth symbol. The SPBCH is transmitted in the first and second symbols. In the frequency domain, an SSB consists of M contiguous subcarriers. The PSS occupy the top N subcarriers (the higher part) and bottom N subcarriers (the lower part) in the first symbol, with P subcarriers gap in between the two parts. Similarly, the SSS occupy the top N subcarriers (the higher part) and bottom N subcarriers (the lower part) in the third symbol, with P subcarriers gap in between the two parts. SPBCH occupies Q subcarriers within the P subcarriers gap in the first and third symbols, respectively. The complex-valued symbols corresponding to resource elements of other subcarriers than the Q subcarriers of the SPBCH within the P subcarriers are set to zero. In the first symbol, both the G1 subcarriers and G2 subcarriers between the SPBCH and PSS in the first symbol are set to zero. In the third symbol, both the G1 subcarriers and G2 subcarriers between the SPBCH and SSS in the first symbol are set to zero. P is an integer number, N is an integer number (possible even) , and M=P+2·N. Q is an integer number, and Q may be smaller than or equal to P. G1 and G2 are integer numbers larger than 0, and P = Q+G1+G2.

[0059] TABLE 5

[0060] In some example approaches, M is equal to 288 and N is equal to 127. In this case, the FPBCH in the second the fourth symbol occupy 576 subcarriers in total, which is the same as that for the existing 5G SSB design. In this case, P may be equal to 34, and Q can be 24. In other words, there may be 2 RBs (Resource Blocks) in the first and third symbols for SPBCH, respectively.

[0061] Similarly, the PSS and SSS in the first and third symbols occupy more subcarriers than the existing 5G SSB and thus can hold longer sequences. The longer sequences can increase the successful detection rate of PSS and SSS. Thus, in order to keep the same detection rate of PSS and SSS, the base station 102 can increase the periodicity of SSB with this longer sequence of PSS and SSS. In other words, the base station 102 can transmit the SSB less frequently and thus reduce the power consumption. Additionally, the top N subcarriers or the bottom N subcarriers in the first symbol can be compatible with the 5G PSS design, and thus legacy UEs can also apply this new design to acquire time domain synchronization. Meanwhile, the SPBCH can be applied to transmit more synchronization information for facilitate the UE cell search and / or access.

[0062] Alternatively, as is illustrated in FIG. 9 and Table 6, below, the FPBCH, PSS, and SSS are in consecutive symbols, where the PSS is transmitted in the first symbol, SSS is  transmitted in the third symbol, and FPBCH is transmitted in the second and fourth symbols. The SPBCH is transmitted in the first and second symbols. In the frequency domain, an SSB consists of M contiguous subcarriers. In this alternative approach, as shown in FIG. 9 and Table 6, the lower part of N subcarriers of the PSS may start from the subcarrier that is T1 subcarriers from the bottom, and the higher part of N subcarriers of the PSS may end at the subcarrier that is T2 subcarriers from the top. Similarly, the lower part of N subcarriers of the SSS may start from the subcarrier that is T1 subcarriers from the bottom, and the higher part of N subcarriers of the SSS may end at the subcarrier that is T2 subcarriers from the top. T1 and T2 are integer number larger than 0. SPBCH occupies Q subcarriers within the P subcarriers gap in the first and third symbol, respectively. P is integer number, N is an (even) integer number, and M=P+2·N. Q is an integer number, and Q may be smaller than or equal to P. G1 and G2 are integer numbers larger than 0, and P = Q+G1+G2.

[0063] TABLE 6

[0064] The T1 and T2 subcarriers at the bottom or at the top of the PSS and SSS can be applied as the gap between regular data / control channel and PSS / SSS to avoid interference with each other. Normally, the PSS / SSS utilize sequence to carry information for fast synchronization while the regular data / control channel utilize OFDM symbol to carry information. However, the FPBCH also may apply OFDM symbol to carry information, and thus there may be no need to reserve any gap between the FPBCH and regular data / control channel since the OFDM symbols are orthogonal.

[0065] In order to increase the orthogonality among different PSS (or SSS) sequences, the length of these sequences may be normally a prime number. Meanwhile, in order to further keep P subcarriers for forward compatibility (e.g., transmitting synchronization in the P subcarriers) and maintain the P subcarriers are central symmetry, the T1 may not be equal to T2.

[0066] T2 may be larger than T1. Normally the SSB may be be deployed at the bottom of the frequency resources, and thus the interference from other regular data / control channel normally comes from the higher frequency. Thus, larger gap (T2) can better alleviate the interference. In some other cases, T1 may also be equal to T2.

[0067] Embodiment 5

[0068] In this fifth embodiment (as well as others) , the base station 102 transmits FPBCH, SPBCH, PSS, and SSS to the UE 104. The example resource mapping in accordance with this embodiment is shown in FIG. 10 and Table 7, below. The PSS in the first symbol occupies the top N subcarriers, the SPBCH occupies the bottom Q subcarriers in the first symbol, with K subcarriers as a gap between the PSS and SPBCH in the first symbol. Similarly, the SSS in the third symbol occupies the top N subcarriers, the SPBCH occupies the bottom Q subcarriers in the third symbol, with K subcarriers as a gap between the SSS and SPBCH in the third symbol. K is an integer number larger 0. If the interference between PSS / SSS and SPBCH can be handled well, then K can also be equal to 0. The complex-valued symbols corresponding to resource elements of the K subcarriers are set to zero.

[0069] TABLE 7

[0070] In some example approaches, M may be equal to 288 and N may be equal to 254. In this case, the FPBCH in the second the fourth symbol occupy 576 subcarriers in total, which is the same as that for the existing 5G SSB design. In this case, K may be equal to 10, and Q can be 24. In other words, there are 2 RBs (Resource Blocks) in the first and third  symbol for SPBCH, respectively.

[0071] Alternatively, the Q subcarriers of SPBCH may start from the subcarrier that is T1 subcarriers from the bottom. T1 is an integer number larger than 0. The T1 subcarriers are set to zero in order to alleviate the potential interference between SPBCH and other regular data / control channel.

[0072] Alternatively or additionally, the PSS may end at the subcarrier that is T2 subcarriers from the top. Similarly, the SSS may end at the subcarrier that is T2 subcarriers from the top. T2 is integer numbers, and T1 may be not equal to T2. The T2 subcarriers are set to zero in order to alleviate the potential interference between PSS / SSS and other regular data / control channel.

[0073] In order to increase the orthogonality among different PSS (or SSS) sequences, the length of these sequences may normally be a prime number. Meanwhile, in order to further keep Q subcarriers for forward compatibility (e.g., transmitting synchronization in the Q subcarriers) , the T1 may not be equal to T2. T2 may be larger than T1. Normally the SSB may be deployed at the bottom of the frequency resources, and thus the interference from other regular data / control channel normally comes from the higher frequency. Thus, a larger gap (T2) can better alleviate the interference.

[0074] Embodiment 6

[0075] In this sixth embodiment (as well as others) , the base station 102 transmits FPBCH, SPBCH, PSS, and SSS to the UE 104. The example resource mapping in accordance with this embodiment is shown in FIG. 11 and Table 8, below. In this example, the FPBCH, PSS, and SSS are in consecutive symbols, where the PSS is transmitted in the first symbol, SSS is transmitted in the third symbol, and FPBCH is transmitted in the second and fourth symbols. The SPBCH is transmitted in the first and second symbols. In the frequency domain, an SSB consists of M contiguous subcarriers. The PSS in the first symbol occupies the bottom N subcarriers, the SPBCH occupies the top Q subcarriers in the first symbol, with K subcarriers as gap between the PSS and SPBCH in the first symbol. Similarly, the SSS in the third symbol occupies the bottom N subcarriers, the SPBCH  occupies the top Q subcarriers in the third symbol, with K subcarriers as gap between the SSS and SPBCH in the third symbol. K is an integer number larger 0. If the interference between PSS / SSS and SPBCH can be handled well, the K can also be equal to 0. The complex-valued symbols corresponding to resource elements of the K subcarriers are set to zero.

[0076] TABLE 8

[0077] In various example approaches, M may be equal to 288 and N may be equal to 254.

[0078] Similarly, the PSS and SSS in the first and third symbol occupy more subcarriers than the existing 5G SSB and thus can hold longer sequence. Longer sequence can increase the successful detection rate of PSS and SSS. Thus, in order to keep the same detection rate of PSS and SSS, the base station 102 can increase the periodicity of SSB with this longer sequence of PSS and SSS. In other words, the base station 102 can transmit the SSB less frequently and thus reduce the power consumption. Meanwhile, the SPBCH can be applied to transmit more synchronization information to facilitate the UE cell search and / or access.

[0079] Alternatively, the N subcarriers of PSS may start from the subcarrier that is T1 subcarriers from the bottom. Similarly, the N subcarriers of SSS may start from the subcarrier that is T1 subcarriers from the bottom. T1 is integer number larger than 0. In other words, the PSS / SSS may start from the subcarrier with index T1. The T1 subcarriers are set to zero in order to alleviate the potential interference between PSS / SSS and other regular data / control channel. It is worth noting that in this document, all the indexes are assumed to start from 0.

[0080] Alternatively or additionally, the SPBCH may end at the subcarrier that is T2 subcarriers from the top, i.e., the SPBCH may end at subcarrier indexed with M-T2-1. T2 is integer numbers, and T1 is not equal to T2. The T2 subcarriers are set to zero in order to alleviate the potential interference between PSS / SSS and other regular data / control channel.

[0081] In order to increase the orthogonality among different PSS (or SSS) sequences, the length of these sequences may normally be a prime number. Meanwhile, in order to further keep Q subcarriers for forward compatibility (e.g., transmitting synchronization in the Q subcarriers) , the T1 may not be equal to T2. T2 may be larger than T1. Normally the SSB may be be deployed at the bottom of the frequency resources, and thus the interference from other regular data / control channel normally comes from the higher frequency. Thus, larger gap (T2) can better alleviate the interference.

[0082] Embodiment 7

[0083] In this seventh embodiment (as well as others) , the base station 102 transmits FPBCH, PSS, and SSS to the UE 104. The example resource mapping in accordance with this embodiment is shown in FIG. 12 and Table 9, below. In this example, the FPBCH, PSS, and SSS are in consecutive symbols, where the PSS and SSS are transmitted in the first symbol, and FPBCH is transmitted in the second symbol. In the frequency domain, an SSB consists of M contiguous subcarriers. The PSS occupies the N bottom subcarriers in the first symbol and the SSS occupies the N top subcarriers, with P subcarriers as a gap in between. The complex-valued symbols corresponding to resource elements of the P subcarriers of the gap are set to zero. P is integer number, N is an (even) integer number,  and M=P+2·N. The P subcarriers are applied to alleviate the interference between PSS and SSS. If the interference can be well handled, P can be equal to 0.

[0084] TABLE 9

[0085] Alternatively, as is illustrated in FIG. 13 and Table 10, below, the FPBCH, PSS, and SSS are in consecutive symbols, where the PSS and SSS are transmitted in the first symbol, and FPBCH is transmitted in the second symbol. In this alternative approach, the N subcarriers of PSS may start from the subcarrier that is T1 subcarriers from the bottom in the first symbol. T1 is an integer number larger than 0. The T1 subcarriers are set to zero in order to alleviate the potential interference between PSS and other regular data / control channel. Alternatively or additionally, the SSS may end at the subcarrier that is T2 subcarriers from the top in the first symbol, i.e., the SSS may end at subcarrier indexed with M-T2-1. T2 is an integer number, and T1 may be not equal to T2. The T2 subcarriers are set to zero in order to alleviate the potential interference between PSS / SSS and other regular data / control channel. There are P subcarriers as gap between the PSS and SSS. The complex-valued symbols corresponding to resource elements of the P subcarriers of the gap are set to zero. P is an integer number, N is an (even) integer number, and M=P+2·N+T1+T2. The P subcarriers are applied to alleviate the interference between PSS and SSS. If the interference can be well handled, P can be equal to 0.

[0086] TABLE 10

[0087] Alternatively, as is illustrated in FIG. 14 and Table 11, below, the FPBCH, PSS, and SSS are in consecutive symbols, where the PSS and SSS are transmitted in the first symbol, and FPBCH is transmitted in the second symbol. In this alternative example, the PSS occupies the N top subcarriers in the first symbol and the SSS occupies the N bottom subcarriers with P subcarriers as a gap in between. The complex-valued symbols corresponding to resource elements of the P subcarriers of the gap are set to zero. P is an integer number, N is an (even) integer number, and M=P+2·N. The P subcarriers are applied to alleviate the interference between PSS and SSS. If the interference can be well handled, P can be equal to 0.

[0088] TABLE 11

[0089] Alternatively, as is illustrated in FIG. 15 and Table 12, below, the FPBCH, PSS, and SSS are in consecutive symbols, where the PSS and SSS are transmitted in the first symbol, and FPBCH is transmitted in the second symbol. In this alternative approach, the N subcarriers of SSS may start from the subcarrier that is T1 subcarriers from the bottom in the first symbol. T1 is integer number larger than 0. The T1 subcarriers are set to zero in order to alleviate the potential interference between SSS and other regular data / control channel. Alternatively or additionally, the PSS may end at the subcarrier that is T2  subcarriers from the top in the first symbol, i.e., the PSS may end at subcarrier indexed with M-T2-1. T2 is an integer number, and T1 may be not equal to T2. The T2 subcarriers are set to zero in order to alleviate the potential interference between PSS / SSS and other regular data / control channel. There are P subcarriers as a gap between the PSS and SSS.

[0090] TABLE 12

[0091] In order to increase the orthogonality among different PSS (or SSS) sequences, the length of these sequences is normally a prime number. Meanwhile, in order to further keep P subcarriers for forward compatibility, the T1 may not be equal to T2. T2 may be larger than T1. Normally the SSB will be deployed at the bottom of the frequency resources, and thus the interference from other regular data / control channel normally comes from the higher frequency. Thus, a larger gap (T2) can better alleviate the interference.

[0092] Similarly, the PSS and SSS in the first symbol occupy more subcarriers than the existing 5G SSB and thus can hold longer sequence. Longer sequence can increase the successful detection rate of PSS and SSS. Thus, in order to keep the same detection rate of PSS and SSS, the base station 102 can increase the periodicity of SSB with this longer sequence of PSS and SSS. In other words, the base station 102 can transmit the SSB les  frequently and thus reduce the power consumption. Meanwhile, since the number of subcarriers in frequency domain is increased, only one symbol is required for FPBCH. The energy of SSB transmission is further reduced.

[0093] Embodiment 8

[0094] In this eighth embodiment (as well as others) , the base station 102 transmits FPBCH, PSS, and SSS to the UE 104. The example resource mapping in accordance with this embodiment is shown in FIG. 16 and Table 13, below. In this example, the PSS and SSS are in the first symbol and secondly symbol, respectively. The FPBCH is in the first and second symbols. The PSS occupies the N bottom subcarriers in the first symbol, and the SSS occupies the N bottom subcarriers in the second symbol. The FPBCH occupies the R top subcarriers in the first and second symbols. There are P subcarriers as a gap between the FPBCH and PSS in the first symbol. There are P subcarriers as a gap between the FPBCH and SSS in the second symbol. In the frequency domain, an SSB consists of M contiguous subcarriers. The complex-valued symbols corresponding to resource elements of the P subcarriers of the gap are set to zero. P is integer number, R and N are (even) integer numbers, and M=P+R+N. The P subcarriers are applied to alleviate the interference between PSS / SSS and FPBCH. If the interference can be well handled, P can be equal to 0. This SSB design is suitable for the case where SSB is deployed at the bottom of the frequency resources since there is no interference from PSS / SSS for any other regular data / control channel in these frequency resources.

[0095] TABLE 13

[0096] Alternatively, as is illustrated in FIG. 17 and Table 14, below, the FPBCH, PSS, and SSS are in consecutive symbols, where the PSS and SSS are in the first symbol and secondly symbol, respectively. The FPBCH is in the first and second symbol. The PSS occupies the N top subcarriers in the first symbol, and the SSS occupies the N top subcarriers in the second symbol. The FPBCH occupies the R bottom subcarriers in the first and second symbols. There are P subcarriers as a gap between the FPBCH and PSS in the first symbol. There are P subcarriers as a gap between the FPBCH and SSS in the second symbol. The complex-valued symbols corresponding to resource elements of the P subcarriers of the gap are set to zero. P is an integer number, R and N are (even) integer numbers, and M=P+R+N. The P subcarriers are applied to alleviate the interference between PSS / SSS and FPBCH. If the interference can be well handled, P can be equal to 0. This SSB design is suitable for the case where SSB is deployed at the top of the frequency resources since there is no interference from PSS / SSS for any other regular data / control channel in these frequency resources.

[0097] TABLE 14

[0098] Embodiment 9

[0099] In this ninth embodiment (as well as others) , the base station 102 transmits FPBCH, PSS, and SSS to the UE 104. The example resource mapping in accordance with this embodiment is shown in FIG. 18 and Table 15, below. In this example, the PSS and  SSS are in the first symbol and secondly symbol, respectively. The FPBCH is in the first and second symbols. The PSS occupies the N bottom subcarriers in the first symbol and the SSS occupies the N top subcarriers in the second symbol. The FPBCH occupies the R top subcarriers in the first symbol, and the R bottom subcarriers in the second symbol. There are P subcarriers as a gap between the FPBCH and PSS in the first symbol. There are P subcarriers as a gap between the FPBCH and SSS in the second symbol. The complex-valued symbols corresponding to resource elements of the P subcarriers of the gap are set to zero. P is an integer number, R and N are (even) integer number, and M=P+R+N. The P subcarriers are applied to alleviate the interference between PSS and SSS. If the interference can be well handled, P can be equal to 0. FIG. 18 shows a case where R is larger than N. But depending on the detailed design, R may be equal, smaller than, or larger than P. Since PSS / SSS and FPBCH are in different symbols, the UE 104 can better align its timing with the base station 102 via the SSB. For example, the PSS may be used for coarser timing alignment, and the SSS can be applied for finer timing alignment.

[0100] TABLE 15

[0101] Alternatively, as is illustrated in FIG. 19 and Table 16, below, the PSS and SSS are in the first symbol and secondly symbol, respectively, while the FPBCH is in the first and second symbol. In this alternative example, the PSS occupies the N subcarriers in the first symbol starting from the subcarrier that is T1 subcarriers from the bottom, and the SSS occupies the N subcarriers in the second symbol ending at the subcarrier that is T2 subcarriers from the top. The FPBCH occupies the R top subcarriers in the first and R  bottom subcarriers in the second symbol. There are P subcarriers as a gap between the FPBCH and PSS in the first symbol. There are P subcarriers as a gap between the FPBCH and SSS in the second symbol. The complex-valued symbols corresponding to resource elements of the P subcarriers of the gap, T1 subcarriers and T2 subcarriers are set to zero. P is an integer number, R and N are (even) integer numbers, and M=P+R+N+T1 or M=P+R+N+T2. T1 and T2 are integer numbers, T1 may be equal to T2. The P subcarriers are applied to alleviate the interference between PSS and SSS. If the interference can be well handled, P can be equal to 0.

[0102] FIG. 19 shows a case where R is larger than N. But depending on the detailed design, R may be equal, smaller than, or larger than P. Since PSS / SSS and FPBCH are in different symbols, the UE 104 can better align its timing with the base station via the SSB. For example, PSS may be used for coarser timing alignment and SSS can be applied for finer timing alignment.

[0103] TABLE 16

[0104] As another alternative, as is illustrated in FIG. 20 and Table 17, below, the PSS and SSS are in the first symbol and secondly symbol, respectively, while the FPBCH is in the first and second symbol. In this alternative example, the PSS occupies the N top subcarriers in the first symbol, and the SSS occupies the N bottom subcarriers in the second symbol.  The FPBCH occupies the R bottom subcarriers in the first symbol, and the R top subcarriers in the second symbol. But depending on the detailed design, R may be equal, smaller than, or larger than P. Since PSS and SSS are in different symbols, the UE 104 can better align its timing with the base station 102 via the SSB. For example, the PSS may be used for coarser timing alignment and the SSS can be applied for finer timing alignment.

[0105] TABLE 17

[0106] As another alternative, as is illustrated in FIG. 21 and Table 18, below, the PSS and SSS are in the first symbol and secondly symbol, respectively, while the FPBCH is in the first and second symbol. In this alternative example, the PSS occupies the N subcarriers in the first symbol ending at the subcarrier that is T2 subcarrier from the top, and the SSS occupies the N subcarriers in the second symbol starting from the subcarrier that is T1 subcarrier from the bottom. The FPBCH occupies the R bottom subcarriers in the first symbol, and the R top subcarriers in the second symbol. There are P subcarriers as a gap between the FPBCH and PSS in the first symbol. There are P subcarriers as a gap between the FPBCH and SSS in the second symbol. The complex-valued symbols corresponding to  resource elements of the P subcarriers of the gap are set to zero. But depending on the detailed design, R may be equal, smaller than, or larger than P. Since PSS and SSS are in different symbols, the UE 104 can better align its timing with the base station 102 via the SSB. For example, PSS may be used for coarser timing alignment and SSS can be applied for finer timing alignment.

[0107] TABLE 18

[0108] As another alternative, the SSS and PSS may be in the first symbol and second symbol, respectively. The FPBCH may be in the first and second symbol. The SSS may occupy the N top subcarriers in the first symbol and the PSS occupies the N bottom subcarriers in the second symbol. The FPBCH may occupy the R bottom subcarriers in the first and R top subcarriers in the second symbol. There are P subcarriers gap between the FPBCH and SSS in the first symbol. There are P subcarriers gap between the FPBCH and PSS in the second symbol.

[0109] As another alternative, the SSS and PSS may be in the first symbol and second symbol, respectively. The FPBCH is in the first and second symbol. The SSS occupies  the N bottom subcarriers in the first symbol and the PSS occupies the N top subcarriers in the second symbol. The FPBCH occupies the R top subcarriers in the first and R bottom subcarriers in the second symbol. There are P subcarriers gap between the FPBCH and SSS in the first symbol. There are P subcarriers gap between the FPBCH and PSS in the second symbol.

[0110] Embodiment 10

[0111] In this tenth embodiment (as well as others) , in order to further simplify the SSB design, the PSS and SSS can be merged into one sequence. Previously, the PSS and SSS are applied to carry the cell identification and provide signal for UE performing timing synchronization. In this example, a single sequence can be applied to carry the cell identification and provide signal for the UE 104 performing timing synchronization, which can further reduce the cell detection time and reduce power detection power consumption at the UE side.

[0112] In this embodiment, the base station 102 transmits FPBCH and a Synchronization Signal (SS) to the UE 104. The example resource mapping in accordance with this embodiment is shown in FIG. 22 and Table 19, below. In the frequency domain, an SSB consists of M contiguous subcarriers. In this example, the SS is in the first symbol. The SS occupies the N subcarriers in the first symbol starting from the subcarrier that is T1 subcarriers from the bottom and ending at the subcarrier that is T2 subcarriers from the top. The FPBCH occupies M subcarriers in the second symbol. The T1 subcarriers at the bottom of the first symbol and the T2 subcarriers at the top of the first symbol are set to zero in order to alleviate the potential interference between SS and other regular data / control channel.

[0113] In order to increase the orthogonality among different SS sequences, the length of these sequences is normally a prime number. Meanwhile, in order to further keep M subcarriers for forward compatibility, the T1 may be not equal to T2. T2 may be larger than T1. Normally the SSB will be deployed at the bottom of the frequency resources, thus the interference from other regular data / control channel normally comes from the higher frequency. Thus, a larger gap (T2) can better alleviate the interference.

[0114] TABLE 19

[0115] Embodiment 11

[0116] In this eleventh embodiment (as well as others) , the base station 102 transmits FPBCH, PSS, and SSS to the UE 104. The example resource mapping in accordance with this embodiment is shown in FIG. 23 and Table 20, below. The PSS, SSS, and FPBCH are in the first symbol (e.g., a single symbol) . In the frequency domain, an SSB consists of M contiguous subcarriers. The PSS occupies the N bottom subcarriers in the first symbol, and the SSS occupies the N top subcarriers in the first symbol. The FPBCH occupies R subcarriers in the first symbol between the PSS and SSS. There are T1 subcarriers as a gap between the FPBCH and PSS in the first symbol. There are T2 subcarriers as a gap between the FPBCH and SSS in the first symbol. The complex-valued symbols corresponding to resource elements of the T1 subcarriers of the gap and the T2 subcarriers of the gap are set to zero. R and N are integer numbers larger than 0. T1 and T2 are integer numbers that are equal to or larger than 0. If the interference between PSS / SS and FPBCH can be handled well, the T1 and / or T2 can be equal to 0.

[0117] TABLE 20

[0118] Alternatively, as is illustrated in FIG. 24 and Table 21, below, the base station 102 transmits FPBCH, PSS, and SSS to the UE 104, with the PSS, SSS, and FPBCH in the first symbol. In this alternative example, the SSS occupies the N bottom subcarriers in the first symbol, and the PSS occupies the N top subcarriers in the first symbol. The FPBCH occupies R subcarriers in the first symbol between the PSS and SSS. There are T1 subcarriers as a gap between the FPBCH and SSS in the first symbol. There are T2 subcarriers as a gap between the FPBCH and PSS in the first symbol.

[0119] TABLE 21

[0120] Alternatively, as is illustrated in FIG. 25 and Table 22, below, the base station 102 transmits FPBCH, PSS, and SSS to the UE 104, with the PSS, SSS, and FPBCH in the first symbol. In this alternative example, the SSS occupies the N bottom subcarriers in the first symbol, and the FPBCH occupies the R top subcarriers in the first symbol. The PSS occupies N subcarriers in the first symbol between the FPBCH and SSS. There are T1 subcarriers as a gap between the PSS and SSS in the first symbol. There are T2 subcarriers as a gap between the FPBCH and PSS in the first symbol. The complex-valued symbols  corresponding to resource elements of the T1 subcarriers of the gap and the T2 subcarriers of the gap are set to zero.

[0121] TABLE 22

[0122] Alternatively, as is illustrated in FIG. 26 and Table 23, below, the base station 102 transmits FPBCH, PSS, and SSS to the UE 104, with the PSS, SSS, and FPBCH in the first symbol. In this alternative example, the PSS occupies the N bottom subcarriers in the first symbol, and the FPBCH occupies the R top subcarriers in the first symbol. The SSS occupies N subcarriers in the first symbol between the FPBCH and PSS. There are T1 subcarriers as a gap between the PSS and SSS in the first symbol. There are T2 subcarriers as a gap between the FPBCH and SSS in the first symbol. The complex-valued symbols corresponding to resource elements of the T1 subcarriers of the gap and the T2 subcarriers of the gap are set to zero.

[0123] TABLE 23

[0124] Because the PSS, SSS, and FPBCH are in the same symbol, the base station 102 only needs to power up for one symbol for each SSB. The power consumption of the base station 102 can be further reduced. Meanwhile, if the FPBCH is between the PSS and SSS, the demodulation of FPBCH can take the PSS and / or SSS as reference signal for some implementation choices.

[0125] Embodiment 12

[0126] In this twelfth embodiment (as well as others) , in order to further simplify the SSB design, the PSS and SSS can be merged into one sequence. Previously, the PSS and SSS are applied to carry the cell identification and provide signal for a UE 104 performing timing synchronization. In this example, a single sequence can be applied to carry the cell identification and provide signal for the UE 104 performing timing synchronization, which can further reduce the cell detection time and reduce power detection power consumption at the UE side.

[0127] In this example, the base station 102 transmits FPBCH and SS to the UE 104. The example resource mapping in accordance with this embodiment is shown in FIG. 27 and Table 24, below. In the frequency domain, an SSB consists of M contiguous subcarriers. Both the FPBCH and SS are in the first symbol. The SS occupies the bottom N subcarriers in the first symbol. The FPBCH occupies the top R subcarriers in the first symbol. There are T1 subcarriers between the FPBCH and SS in order to alleviate the potential interference between SS and FPBCH. M, N and T1 are integer numbers larger than 0. If the interference can be well handled, T1 may be equal to zero.

[0128] TABLE 24

[0129] Alternatively, as is illustrated in FIG. 28 and Table 25, below, the base station 102  transmits FPBCH and SS to the UE 104. The example resource mapping in accordance with this alternative embodiment is shown in FIG. 28 and Table 25, below. In this alternative, the SS occupies the top N subcarriers in the first symbol. The FPBCH occupies the bottom R subcarriers in the first symbol. There are T1 subcarriers between the FPBCH and SS in order to alleviate the potential interference between SS and FPBCH. M, N and T1 are integer numbers larger than 0. If the interference can be well handled, T1 may be equal to zero.

[0130] TABLE 25

[0131] Because the SS and FPBCH are in the same symbol, the base station 102 only needs to power up for one symbol for each SSB. The power consumption of the base station 102 can be further reduced. Meanwhile, the FPBCH is next to the SS, and the demodulation of FPBCH can take the SS as reference signal for some implementation choices.

[0132] Embodiment 13 -Information carried by SS  / PSS  / SSS  / SPBCH

[0133] In the existing SSB design, the PSS and SSS together carry the physical cell identification. However, because the longer sequence can be applied for the new SSB design, more information can be carried by the PSS, SSS or SS in general.

[0134] Periodicity

[0135] In one implementation, the PSS and / or SSS indicate the periodicity of the SSB. Alternatively, the PSS and / or SSS indicate one index that is corresponding to the periodicity of the SSB. For example, if the PSS and SSS indicate the periodicity of the SSB, the PSS can carry part of the periodicity information and the SSS can carry another part of the periodicity information. For example, the PSS may carry the lower bits and SSS carry the  higher bits; alternatively, the PSS and SSS may carry parameters for deriving the periodicity. Similar mechanisms can be applied to the case when PSS and SSS are applied to indicate other information.

[0136] In one implementation, the PSS and / or SSS indicate the periodicity of the time units with SSBs. The time units may be half frames, frames, slots, subframe, etc. Alternatively, the PSS and / or SSS indicate one index that is corresponding to the periodicity of the time units with SSBs.

[0137] In one implementation, the SS indicates the periodicity of the SSB. Alternatively, the SS indicates one index that is corresponding to the periodicity of the SSB.

[0138] In one implementation, the SS indicates the periodicity of the time units with SSBs. The time units may be half frames, frames, slots, subframe, etc. Alternatively, the SS indicates one index that is corresponding to the periodicity of the time units with SSBs.

[0139] In one implementation, the SPBCH indicates the periodicity of the SSB. Alternatively, the SPBCH indicates one index that is corresponding to the periodicity of the SSB.

[0140] In one implementation, the SPBCH indicates the periodicity of the time units with SSBs. The time units may be half frames, frames, slots, subframe, etc. Alternatively, the SS indicates one index that is corresponding to the periodicity of the time units with SSBs.

[0141] In one implementation, the offset between the PSS and SSS in time domain or frequency domain indicates the periodicity of the SSB. Alternatively, the offset between the PSS and SSS in time domain or frequency domain indicates an index that is corresponding to the periodicity of the SSB.

[0142] In one implementation, the offset between the PSS and SSS in time domain or frequency domain indicates the periodicity of the time units with SSBs. Alternatively, the offset between the PSS and SSS in time domain or frequency domain indicates one index that is corresponding to the periodicity of the time units with SSBs.

[0143] The offset between the PSS and SSS in time domain may be in the units of  symbols, e.g., 0, 1 or 2 symbols. The offset between the PSS and SSS in frequency domain may be in the units of resource blocks (RBs) or resource elements (REs) or subcarriers, e.g., 2 RBs. The UE 104 may determine the periodicity of the SSB or the periodicity of the time units with SSBs according to the offset of the detected PSS and SSS.

[0144] The UE 104 first receives the PSS, SSS, SS, and / or SPBCH, and then acquires the periodicity of the SSB. With this, the UE 104 can receive the SSB in next period more accurately and thus reduce unnecessary power consumption for unnecessary SSB detection.

[0145] SSB pattern

[0146] In one implementation, the PSS and / or SSS indicate the SSB pattern. Alternatively, the PSS and / or SSS indicate one index that is corresponding to the SSB pattern. In one implementation, the SS indicates the SSB pattern. Alternatively, the SS indicates one index that is corresponding to the SSB pattern.

[0147] In one implementation, the SPBCH indicates the SSB pattern. Alternatively, the SPBCH indicates one index that is corresponding to the SSB pattern.

[0148] In one implementation, the offset between the PSS and SSS in time domain or frequency domain indicates the SSB pattern. Alternatively, the offset between the PSS and SSS in time domain or frequency domain indicates one index that is corresponding to the SSB pattern. The offset between the PSS and SSS in time domain may be in the units of symbols, e.g., 0, 1 or 2 symbols. The offset between the PSS and SSS in frequency domain may be in the units of resource blocks (RBs) or resource elements (REs) or subcarriers, e.g., 2 RBs. UE determines the periodicity of the SSB or the periodicity of the time units with SSBs according to the offset of the detected PSS and SSS.

[0149] The base station 102 may use different SSB pattern for different scenarios. The UE 104 may have to first know the SSB pattern. Otherwise, the UE 104 may have to perform blind detection of the SSB, which increases the power consumption of the SSB detection. Some the SSB patterns share the same PSS, SSS, or SS. For example, as shown in FIG. 3 and FIG. 5, the PSS can be designed to share the same sequence design. Then the PSS can be applied to indicate the SSB pattern information. After receiving the PSS, the  UE 104 can determine whether it is the SSB pattern in FIG. 3 or FIG. 5.

[0150] SSB set

[0151] In one implementation, the PSS and / or SSS indicates the SSB set. Alternatively, the PSS and / or SSS indicates one index that is corresponding to the SSB set. In one implementation, the SS indicates the SSB set. Alternatively, the SS indicates one index that is corresponding to the SSB set.

[0152] In one implementation, the SPBCH indicates the SSB set. Alternatively, the SPBCH indicates one index that is corresponding to the SSB set.

[0153] In one implementation, the offset between the PSS and SSS in time domain or frequency domain indicates the SSB set. Alternatively, the offset between the PSS and SSS in time domain or frequency domain indicates one index that is corresponding to the SSB set. The offset between the PSS and SSS in time domain may be in the units of symbols, e.g., 0, 1, or 2 symbols.

[0154] The SSB may be divided into different sets, where each set comprises one or multiple SSBs with different SSB indexes. For one example, the SSB may be divided into two sets, where the first set comprises SSBs for the far field beams and the second set comprises SSBs for the near field beams. For another example, the SSB may be divided into two sets, where the first set comprises SSBs for the high transmission power and the second set comprises SSBs for the low transmission power.

[0155] Subcarrier spacing

[0156] In one implementation, the PSS and / or SSS indicates the subcarrier spacing of the FPBCH and / or SPBCH. Alternatively, the PSS and / or SSS indicates one index that is corresponding to the subcarrier spacing of the FPBCH and / or SPBCH. In one implementation, the SS indicates the subcarrier spacing of the FPBCH and / or SPBCH.  Alternatively, the SS indicates one index that is corresponding to the subcarrier spacing of the FPBCH and / or SPBCH.

[0157] In one implementation, the SPBCH indicates the subcarrier spacing of the FPBCH and / or the PDCCH / PDSCH for the SIB1. Alternatively, the SPBCH indicates the index that is corresponding to the subcarrier spacing of the FPBCH and / or the PDCCH / PDSCH for the SIB1.

[0158] In one implementation, the offset between the PSS and SSS in time domain or frequency domain indicates the subcarrier spacing of the FPBCH and / or SPBCH. Alternatively, the offset between the PSS and SSS in time domain or frequency domain indicates one index that is corresponding to the subcarrier spacing of the FPBCH and / or SPBCH. The offset between the PSS and SSS in time domain may be in the units of symbols, e.g., 0, 1, or 2 symbols.

[0159] Because the PSS, SSS, and SS are transmitted via sequence while the FPBCH / SPBCH is transmitted via OFDM symbols, different subcarriers may be used for PSS / SSS / SS and FPBCH / SPBCH. Thus, in order to reduce the detection latency, the PSS / SSS / SS can indicate the subcarrier spacing for the FPBCH / SPBCH.

[0160] FPBCH / SPBCH association

[0161] In one implementation, the PSS and / or SSS indicates whether the FPBCH or SPBCH is associated with the PSS / SSS. In one implementation, the SS indicates whether the FPBCH or SPBCH is associated with the SS.

[0162] In one implementation, the SPBCH indicates whether the FPBCH or SIB1 is associated with the PSS / SSS / SPBCH.

[0163] In one implementation, the offset between the PSS and SSS in time domain or frequency domain indicates whether the FPBCH or SPBCH is associated with the PSS / SSS.  The offset between the PSS and SSS in time domain may be in the units of symbols, e.g., 0, 1, or 2 symbols.

[0164] Because the PSS / SSS / SS are used for the UE 104 to perform synchronization while the FPBCH / SPBCH is used for the UE 104 to perform broadcast information acquisition, denser PSS / SSS / SS transmission may be required than the FPBCH / SPBCH. Thus, some PSS / SSS / SS may be associated with FPBCH / SPBCH, while some other PSS / SSS / SS may not be associated with FPBCH / SPBCH.

[0165] Center frequency of SSS or FPBCH / SPBCH

[0166] In one implementation, the PSS and / or SSS indicates whether the FPBCH or SPBCH is with the same center frequency as the PSS / SSS. In one implementation, the SS indicates whether the FPBCH or SPBCH is with the same center frequency as the SS.

[0167] In one implementation, the PSS indicates whether the SSS, FPBCH, or SPBCH is with the same center frequency as the PSS.

[0168] In one implementation, the offset between the PSS and SSS in time domain or frequency domain indicates whether the FPBCH or SPBCH is with the same center frequency as the PSS / SSS. The offset between the PSS and SSS in time domain may be in the units of symbols, e.g., 0, 1, or 2 symbols.

[0169] Different SSB patterns may have different design regarding the center frequency of the PSS, SSS, FPBCH, and SPBCH. If the center frequency information can be indicated via the PSS and / or SSS and / or SS, it may help UE to detect the SSB.

[0170] The description and accompanying drawings above provide specific example  embodiments and implementations. The described subject matter may, however, be embodied in a variety of different forms and, therefore, covered or claimed subject matter is intended to be construed as not being limited to any example embodiments set forth herein. A reasonably broad scope for claimed or covered subject matter is intended. Among other things, for example, subject matter may be embodied as methods, devices, components, systems, or non-transitory computer-readable media for storing computer codes. Accordingly, embodiments may, for example, take the form of hardware, software, firmware, storage media or any combination thereof. For example, the method embodiments described above may be implemented by components, devices, or systems including memory and processors by executing computer codes stored in the memory.

[0171] Throughout the specification and claims, terms may have nuanced meanings suggested or implied in context beyond an explicitly stated meaning. Likewise, the phrase “in one embodiment / implementation / example / approach” as used herein does not necessarily refer to the same embodiment and the phrase “in another embodiment / implementation / example / approach” as used herein does not necessarily refer to a different embodiment. It is intended, for example, that claimed subject matter includes combinations of example embodiments in whole or in part.

[0172] In general, terminology may be understood at least in part from usage in context. For example, terms, such as “and” , “or” , or “and / or, ” as used herein may include a variety of meanings that may depend at least in part on the context in which such terms are used. Typically, “or” if used to associate a list, such as A, B or C, is intended to mean A, B, and C, here used in the inclusive sense, as well as A, B or C, here used in the exclusive sense. In addition, the term “one or more” as used herein, depending at least in part upon context, may be used to describe any feature, structure, or characteristic in a singular sense or may be used to describe combinations of features, structures or characteristics in a plural sense. Similarly, terms, such as “a, ” “an, ” or “the, ” may be understood to convey a singular usage or to convey a plural usage, depending at least in part upon context. In addition, the term “based on” may be understood as not necessarily intended to convey an exclusive set of factors and may, instead, allow for existence of additional factors not necessarily expressly  described, again, depending at least in part on context.

[0173] Reference throughout this specification to features, advantages, or similar language does not imply that all of the features and advantages that may be realized with the present solution should be or are included in any single implementation thereof. Rather, language referring to the features and advantages is understood to mean that a specific feature, advantage, or characteristic described in connection with an embodiment is included in at least one embodiment of the present solution. Thus, discussions of the features and advantages, and similar language, throughout the specification may, but do not necessarily, refer to the same embodiment.

[0174] Furthermore, the described features, advantages and characteristics of the present solution may be combined in any suitable manner in one or more embodiments. One of ordinary skill in the relevant art will recognize, in light of the description herein, that the present solution can be practiced without one or more of the specific features or advantages of a particular embodiment. In other instances, additional features and advantages may be recognized in certain embodiments that may not be present in all embodiments of the present solution.
