Abstract

This communication system comprises a road-side machine that transmits a response request signal and receives a response signal to the response request signal, and an onboard device that transmits the response signal, including positional information of the host vehicle the same is installed in, in reply to the response request signal received from the road-side machine. If it is determined on the basis of the positional information that a tracking suspending condition which represents the vehicle the onboard device is installed in being stopped in a road-external area is satisfied, the road-side machine transmits the response request signal including a tracking-suspended-vehicle list in which the vehicle is recorded as a tracking-suspended vehicle. The onboard device stops sending the response signal if the host vehicle thereof is included in the tracking-suspended-vehicle list.
