[0003] In a wireless communication system, Layer 1 / Layer 2 signaling triggered mobility (LTM) may be an important technology to perform fast serving cell change compared to a legacy handover, as the LTM may dramatically reduce the handover delay as well as the user plane (UP) data interruption. However, LTM may have some drawbacks, for example, being similar as legacy handover which shall be triggered by a network (NW) according to the measurement report from a user equipment (UE) , the timing of handover execution is by the NW experience which may also have some kind of delay of the handover since the NW need some time to process the measurement report and make a decision.

[0004] In some implementations, a UE triggered LTM, that is, a conditional LTM (cLTM) may be used to solve some of the above issues. However, there are some issues / problems associated with performing cLTM. For example, how to evaluate cLTM execution and select the cLTM candidate cell, how to maintain timing advance (TA) values that are obtained by using early TA acquisition. Besides how to set the L1 measurement reporting configuration for inter-CU LTM, and / or how to activate or deactivate semi-persistent reference signal (RS) resources for L1 / L3 measurements in LTM.

[0027] In general, terminology may be understood at least in part from usage in context. For example, terms, such as “and” , “or” , or “and / or, ” as used herein may include a variety of meanings that may depend at least in part upon the context in which such terms are used. Typically, “or” if used to associate a list, such as A, B or C, is intended to mean A, B, and C, here used in the inclusive sense, as well as A, B or C, here used in the exclusive sense. In addition, the term “one or more” or “at least one” as used herein, depending at least in part upon context, may be used to describe any feature, structure, or characteristic in a singular sense or may be used to describe combinations of features, structures or characteristics in a plural sense. Similarly, terms, such as “a” , “an” , or “the” , again, may be understood to convey a singular usage or to convey a plural usage, depending at least in part upon context. In addition, the term “based on” or “determined by” may be understood as not necessarily intended to convey an exclusive set of factors and may, instead, allow for existence of additional factors not necessarily expressly described, again, depending at least in part on context.

[0028] The present disclosure describes methods and devices for performing conditional layer one or two (Layer 1 / Layer 2) signaling triggered mobility (cLTM) in a mobile communication system, or for performing the LTM in a mobile communication system.

[0029] Wireless technologies are moving the world toward an increasingly connected and networked society. High-speed and low-latency wireless communication system rely on efficient network resource management and allocation between user equipment and wireless access network nodes (including but not limited to base stations and / or core networks) . New generation networks are expected to provide various data services, in addition to conventional communication service, with high speed, low latency, and highly reliable capabilities, so as to fulfill requirements under various circumstances.

[0030] In a wireless communication system, Layer 1 / Layer 2 signaling triggered mobility (LTM) may be an important technology to perform fast serving cell change compared to a legacy handover, as the legacy handover may dramatically reduce the handover delay as well as the user plane (UP) data interruption.

[0031] In some implementations, a UE triggered LTM, that is, a conditional LTM (cLTM) may be used to solve some of the above issues. However, there are some issues / problems associated with performing cLTM. For example, how to evaluate cLTM execution and select the cLTM candidate cell, how to maintain timing advance (TA) values that are obtained by using early TA acquisition, and / or how to activate or deactivate semi-persistent reference signal (RS) resources for L1 / L3 measurements.

[0032] In some implementations, for supporting the conditional LTM, a UE may need to obtain and maintain the TA value of candidate cell in advance to the execution of LTM, which may need brand new technology compared to the TA maintenance for the serving cell. In some implementations, for supporting the conditional LTM, a UE may need to send the notification message to the serving cell when the cell switching to a candidate cell is determined. The notification message may need be sent from source distributed unit (DU) to the target DU in the case of gNB split case. In some implementations, for supporting the conditional LTM, a UE may need to select one of the candidate cells for LTM cell switch.

[0033] The present disclosure describes various embodiments for performing conditional layer one or two (Layer 1 / Layer 2) signaling triggered mobility (cLTM) in a mobile communication system, addressing at least one of the issues / problems discussed in the present disclosure, thus increasing efficiency of LTM / cLTM, enabling future wireless communication system to provide improved performance to meet various demands of new generation wireless services in wireless communication systems.

[0079] In step 710, the candidate cell (or DUy) may send a RRC reconfiguration complete message to the CU.

[0080] For option 2 of performing cLTM, in step 711, the CU may send a UE context modification request to the serving cell (or DUx) . Optionally, the serving cell (or DUx) may send a downlink data delivery status to the CU. In step 712, the serving cell (or DUx) may send a UE context modification response to the CU. In step 713, the CU may send a CU-DU TA information transfer to the candidate cell (or DUy) .

[0081] Referring to FIG. 7, various exemplary embodiments are described in more details.

[0082] In various embodiments, step 701 includes cLTM evaluation and target Cell Selection, wherein the UE needs to do the cLTM evaluation and select the suitable target cell to switch in one of the following methods.

[0083] In one method, the evaluation of the cLTM may be via the taking measurement on serving cell and / or candidate cell to determine whether the event for the cLTM execution has been met by the measurement result of the candidate cell and / or serving cell, or comparing between the measurement result of the serving cell and the measurement result of the candidate cell.

[0084] In one implementation, the measurement result may be the L1 measurement result, for instance, RSRP, RSRQ, SINR, etc.

[0085] In another implementation, the events as described above may be defined as one of the following events. For one event (Event#1) , Ms+offset < Mc; where Ms is the measurement result of serving cell, Mc is the measurement result of a candidate cell, offset is a value that is to indicate an offset value to the Ms. For another event (Event#2) , Ms < Threshold#1 and Mc > Threshold#2, where the threshold#2 shall be greater than threshold#1. For another event (Event#3) , Mc > Threshold#1, where the Mc is the measurement result of candidate cell.

[0086] In another method, in order to avoid the Pingpong handover, one delay time for triggering cLTM execution may be needed, wherein a value N may be defined to indicate that the measurement result of N consecutive measurement instances of serving cell and / or candidate cell need meet the event configured for a candidate cell to trigger the cLMT execution to the candidate cell.

[0087] In one implementation, a counter may be introduced for event evaluation, the counter behavior may be defined as a portion or all of the following.

[0088] The counter may be configured per candidate cell, or per event in candidate cell. For example, when there are more than one events for a candidate cell, there may be one counter configured for each event.

[0089] The counter may be increment by 1 if measurement results for a measurement instance of the serving cell and / or the candidate cell meet the event defined for such candidate cell.

[0090] The counter may be reset to 0 or 1 if measurement result for one measurement instance of the serving cell and / or candidate cell does not meet the event defined for such candidate cell; In another implementation, the counter may be reset to 0 or 1 if an associated timer is expired, in this implementation, the associated timer may be started or restarted for an event if there is an indication received from lower layer, in this implementation, the indication may indicate the event configured for a candidate cell is satisfied with the measurement result.

[0091] The counter may be released when the associated candidate cell configuration is released or the associated event for the candidate cell is released.

[0092] When the counter for a candidate cell or the event configured for the candidate cell reaches preconfigured maximum number N or N+1, the cLTM execution to the candidate cell may be performed. In one implementation, The cLTM execution to the candidate cell is performed when more than one events are configured for a candidate cell and all counters are more than or equal to the preconfigured maximum number N or N+1.

[0093] In some implementations, for target cell selection, if more than one candidate cell whose measurement result meet the event, the priority level may be determined according to at least one of the following. The candidate cell whose TA value for uplink transmission have been obtained is prioritized over the candidate cell whose TA value have not been obtained. The candidate cell where the RACH-less cLTM can be performed is prioritized over the one where only RACH based cLTM can be performed. The candidate cell selected by the evaluation result upon the L3 measurement result is prioritized over the candidate cell selected by the evaluation result upon L1 measurement result.

[0094] In various embodiments, a notification may be sent to DUx (or the source DU) , wherein, in gNB CU-DU split case, in order for the source DU to stop scheduling the DL transmission when UE detaching from the source DU, there are two options can be utilized: Option 1 may include a portion or all of step 702 to step 705, wherein the UE may send the detaching notification to the source DU directly; and / or Option 2 may include a portion or all of the step 711 to step 713, wherein the CU may initiate the UE context modification procedure to the source DU when being aware of the mobility of the UE from the source DU to the target DU have been successful.

[0095] For Option 1, after the cLTM evaluation, the cLTM execution notification may be sent by the UE to the source DU to notify source cell before leaving for the selected candidate cell. In order to facilitate the cLTM execution on the candidate cell, the notification may include at least one of the following.

[0135] In one implementation, the TA validity may be determined by the UE measurement on a reference signal whose RSRP change is used by determining the TA validity on a candidate TAG or TA validity. In case the RSRP change is beyond one pre-configured threshold, at least one of the following operations shall be adopt: considering the corresponding candidate TAT as expired; and / or considering the TA value as invalid.

[0136] In some implementations, for maintaining the TA value, at least one of the following implementations can be taken into account.

[0137] In one implementation, the MAC entity of the UE may be responsible to maintain the TA value for each candidate cell or candidate TAG, in this sense, the candidate TAT operation may be handled in MAC entity.

[0138] In one implementation, the candidate TAT may be considered as expired if the MAC entity is reset but not for cLTM or LTM; In another implementation, the candidate TAT may be considered as expired if the MAC entity is reset for cLTM or LTM and there is an indication is configured for the candidate TAT, in one implementation, the indication may be configured for a candidate cell configuration or candidate TAG configuration to indicate the candidate TAT for a candidate cell or a candidate TAG will be considered as expired when executing the MAC reset for cLTM or LTM cell switch, in another implementation, the indication may be configured for LTM / cLTM configuration to indicate the candidate TAT for all candidate cells or candidate TAGs, if any, are to be considered as expired when executing the MAC reset for cLTM or LTM cell switch.

[0139] In one implementation, the candidate TAT may keep running (e.g. be not considered as expired) if the MAC entity is reset for cLTM or LTM; In another implementation, the candidate TAT may keep running if the MAC entity is reset and there is an indication is configured for the candidate TAT, in one implementation, the indication may be configured for a candidate cell configuration or candidate TAG configuration to indicate the candidate TAT for the candidate cell or the candidate TAG keep running when executing the MAC reset for cLTM or LTM, in another implementation, the indication may be configured for LTM / cLTM configuration to indicate the candidate TATs for all candidate cells or candidate TAGs, if any, keep running when executing the MAC reset for cLTM or LTM cell switch.

[0140] In another implementation, the RRC entity of the UE may be responsible to maintain the TA value for each candidate cell or candidate TAG. And hence, the candidate TAT is handled in RRC layer. At least one of the following may be performed.

[0141] The TA value received from lower layer may be stored in the UE variables. The TA values for a candidate cell or a candidate TAG stored in the UE variables may be cleared by at least one of the following events: 1) the corresponding candidate cell is released; 2) the corresponding TAT is expired; 3) all candidate cells those are belonging to the candidate TAG are released; and / or 4) A clear indication received for the candidate cell or the candidate TAG from the lower layer.

[0142] Alternatively, the TA value may be removed from the UE variables if the TA value become invalid. In one implementation, the invalidation of the TA value may be indicated by the lower layer (e.g. MAC layer or PHY layer) . In another implementation, the invalidation of the TA valued may be determined by the RRC layer itself, for example, the corresponding TAT expiration.

[0143] In some implementations, when candidate TAG is applied for the TA maintenance, the coordination between gNB-CU and candidate DU may be needed for allocating the candidate TAG-ID for each candidate cell, for at least one of the following methods.

[0144] For one method, the candidate cell across different DUs can be allocated into one candidate TAG. In this implementation, the gNB-CU can be aware of each candidate cell information from different DUs, and then allocate the candidate cells for each TAG. The gNB-CU is responsible to allocate an identifier for each TAG.

[0145] For another method, only the candidate cells belonging to the same DU can be allocated into one candidate TAG. In this implementation, the gNB-DU is responsible to allocate the candidate cells to one or more TAG, and the gNB-CU is responsible to allocate an identifier for each TAG.

[0146] In some implementations, as shown in FIG. 8, an exemplary method for allocating TAG indication to each candidate cLTM cell may include a portion or all of the following.

[0147] In step 801, a gNB-CU may send the candidate cell preparation request to a candidate gNB-DU for cLTM of one UE.

[0148] In step 802, the gNB-DU may send one or more candidate cells’ information in response to the request.

[0149] In step 803, the gNB-CU may allocate the candidate TAG-ID for each candidate cell set.

[0150] In step 804, the gNB-CU may send the candidate TAG Information for each candidate cell to the source gNB-DU.

[0151] In some implementations, for step 801, the gNB-CU may use the UE CONTEXT SETUP REQUEST and / or UE CONTEXT MODIFICATION REQUEST to inform one candidate gNB-DU to prepare the indicated candidate cells’ information for cLTM for a UE. In some implementations, the candidate cells request by the gNB-CU may be associated with cLTM or LTM respectively. In some implementations, there is a cLTM indicator maybe added into each element of the information element LTM Configuration ID Mapping List to indicate whether the LTM Cell Id is for cLTM. Or there is a cLTM Cell Id may be present for indicating one cell to be used for cLTM. In some implementations, there is a cLTM indicator is added into the IE LTM Information Setup to indicate whether the request target cell indicated by SpCell-Id is for cLTM or not.

[0152] In some implementations, for step 802, in case of successful operation, the candidate gNB-DU may use the UE CONTEXT SETUP RESPONSE and / or UE CONTEXT MODIFICATION RESPONSE to transfer each request candidate cell configuration to the gNB-CU. In some implementations, there is a TAG indication may be present for each cLTM cell indicated by LTM Cell Id or cLTM Cell Id. In some implementations, there is a TAG indication may be present for the provided LTM Configuration IE. In some implementations, the TAG Indication is a TAG index which may be index=0, 1, 2, 3, 4. . . etc. In this implementation, the candidate cell associated with the same TAG index belonging to the same TAG.

[0153] In some implementations, for step 803 after step 802, the gNB-CU may allocate the candidate TAG ID to each candidate cell accepted by a candidate gNB-DU according to each associated TAG index, that is, to allocate the same Candidate TAG ID to each candidate cell associated with a same TAG index from a same gNB-DU.

[0154] In some implementations, for step 804, the gNB-CU may use the UE CONTEXT MODIFICATION REQUEST to inform the source gNB-DU of the candidate cell information for cLTM for a UE. In some implementations, there is a candidate TAG ID may be present for the LTM Information Modify IE, to indicate the association between TAG ID and the candidate cell configuration. In addition, if the candidate cell is configured with two TAG, there may be two TAG ID be present for the candidate cell configuration. In some implementations, there is a TAG ID may be present for each cLTM cell indicated by LTM Cell Id or cLTM Cell Id under the LTM Configuration ID Mapping List. In addition, if the candidate cell is configured with two TAG, there may be two TAG ID be present for the candidate cell configuration.

[0155] Various embodiments may include methods for measurements on semi-persistent resources for inter-CU LTM / handover case.

[0156] In some implementations, as shown in FIG. 9, one method may include a portion or all of the following steps. In step 901, a source gNB sends a first message of activation / deactivation request for the semi-persistent RS measurement to a candidate gNB. In step 902, the candidate gNB may send a second message of an activation / deactivation response for the semi-persistent RS measurement to the source gNB.

[0157] In some implementations, in addition to periodical SSB or CSI-RS resources, to save network’s power, the network may not transmit RS resources periodically, instead, the network can transmit the RS resource in a semi-persistent way. In LTM or L3 handover, regarding how to activate / deactivate the semi-persistent RS resources and how to inform UE about the L1 or L3 measurements on semi-persistent RS resources, the following solutions can be applied.

[0158] In some implementations, for example as step 901, the source node sends a first message to the target node, requesting the target node to activate or deactivate semi-persistent RS measurement resources.

[0159] In some implementations, the first message may include at least one of the following information.

[0165] Information that indicates the transmission duration (or non-transmission duration) of semi-persistent RS resources that used to indicate the target cell or candidate cell how long the semi-persistent RS resources in time domain can be activated or deactivated.

[0166] A frequency indicator, or a band indicator, or a frequency range, or a BWP ID that used to indicate target cell or candidate cell which semi-persistent RS resources in frequency domain can be activated or deactivated.

[0167] Information to indicate whether the semi-persistent RS resources are expected to be used for L1 measurements or L3 measurements.

[0168] In some implementations, for example as step 902, after receiving the first message, the target node can decide the semi-persistent RS resources that to be activated (or deactivated) , and transmits a second message to the first node. In the meanwhile, the target node may start transmitting corresponding semi-persistent RS resources, (or stop transmitting corresponding semi-persistent RS resources) .

[0169] In some implementations, the second message may include at least one of the following information.

[0183] One or more serving cell ID (or serving cell index) . Optionally, the association between serving cell and RS resources. Used to indicate the UE which RS resources should be measured when corresponding serving cell is activated or deactivated.

[0184] Purpose of the semi-persistent RS resources, including at least one of followings: L1 measurements, L3 measurements, CSI reporting, RLM, BFD.

[0185] In some implementations, the target node may directly send the second message without receiving the first message from source node. In this case, the second message is used to inform the first node, which semi-persistent RS resources are activated or deactivated.

[0186] In some implementations, in case of gNB CU-DU split case, the source node can be a CU and the target node can be another CU. In this case, the first message and the second message can be Xn-AP messages, or inter-node RRC messages that contained in Xn-AP messages. In addition, the information that included in the first message may be transmitted from source DU to source CU via F1-AP message, and further transmitted from target CU to target DU via F1-AP message; Similarly, the information that included in the second message may be transmitted from target DU to target CU via F1-AP message, and further transmitted from source CU to source DU via F1-AP message.

[0187] In some implementations, the source node can be a DU and the target node can be another DU, and the two DUs are belonging to the same CU. In this case, the first message and the second message can be F1-AP messages, or inter-node RRC messages that contained in F1-AP messages. In addition, the information that included in the first message may be transmitted from source DU to CU, and further transmitted from CU to target DU; Similarly, the information that included in the second message may be transmitted from target DU to CU, and further transmitted from CU to source DU.

[0188] In some implementations, the CU may receive more than one of the first messages from different DUs, or from different UEs, but the target node (or target cell or candidate cell) is the same. In this case, the CU can combine the received information and send one message to the target node for requesting activation or deactivation of the semi-persistent RS resources.

[0189] In some implementations, the first message and second message can be UE-specific signalling, or node-specific signalling (e.g. common for all UEs within the node) .

[0190] In some implementations, referring to FIG. 10, in step 1010, a NW may send the RRC configuration of measurement resource and reporting for mobility in the first message; and / or in step 1020, the UE may send the measurement reporting in the second message to the NW according to the configuration.

[0191] Various embodiments may include methods for L1 measurement reporting configuration. In some implementations, for L1 measurement and reporting, a network may configure L1 measurement resources and report configuration to UE in the first message, to support subsequent LTM, the source cell is responsible to generate the common RS resource configuration, such common RS resource configuration includes the configuration of RS (e.g. SSB or CSI) resources of one or multiple candidate cells, it may also include the RS (e.g. SSB or CSI) resource configuration of current serving cell. From signaling point of view, the network (e.g. source cell) may configure one or more RS resource configurations, each RS resource configuration includes a resource configuration ID and one or more RS (e.g. SSB or CSI) resource configuration of one or more candidate cells.

[0192] In some implementations, in addition, source cell and each candidate cell also provide the L1 measurement reporting configuration to the UE, and the reporting configuration includes the linkage between common RS resource config ID and reporting configuration. From signaling point of view, each cell can configure more than one L1 reporting configuration, each L1 reporting configuration includes a reporting configuration ID, reporting type (e.g. event, periodical, semi-persistent, a-periodical…, etc) , reporting configuration and the associated resource configuration ID. The reporting configuration provided by candidate cell is applicable when UE switches to that candidate cell.

[0193] In some implementations, for L1 measurement configuration, considering the RS resource configuration and reporting configuration may be generated by different cells, so, the configuration may not be compatible with each other, to support flexible L1 reporting configuration, the following solutions can be applied, and these methods can be used for either L1 event reporting, or L1 periodical reporting, or L1 semi-persistent reporting, or L1 a-periodical reporting.

[0194] In some implementations, for a L1 measurement reporting configuration, for the indicated / linked L1 resource configuration. The UE may only consider part of the RS resources (e.g. beams) that associated with the L1 resource configuration are applicable to current L1 measurement reporting evaluation and reporting. UE uses one or more of below methods to determine the applicable RS resources.

[0195] For one method (Method 1) , in a L1 measurement reporting configuration, network explicit indicates the applicable candidate ID, or a list of candidate ID. Once received, the UE considers the RSs belonging to the indicated candidate cell ID (s) and configured in the indicated / linked L1 RS resource configuration are applicable to this L1 measurement reporting evaluation and reporting.

[0196] For a non-limiting example, UE’s current serving cell is Cell-1, network configures L1 measurement configuration including a resource configuration and a reporting configuration. The resource configuration includes CSI-RS resources 1, 2, 3, 4 of candidate Cell-2 (with candidate ID=1) and CSI-RS resources 5, 6, 7, 8 of candidate Cell-3 (with candidate ID=2) , the resource configuration ID=1. In the L1 measurement reporting configuration, the reporting type set to LTM-3, and it is linked to the resource configuration. In addition, the reporting configuration includes IE that indicates the applicable cell is candidate ID=1. In this case, the UE only considers CSI-RS resources 1, 2, 3, 4 of candidate Cell-2 as applicable for LTM-3 neighbor cell / beam evaluation and decide whether to trigger LTM-3 event reporting. In one implementation, the serving beams of Cell-1 may not be configured in the resource configuration and they are determined by other method (e.g. activated TCI-state, or QCLed with activated TCI-state) .

[0197] For another method (Method 2) , in a L1 measurement reporting configuration, network explicit indicates the applicable PCI, or a list of PCIs, or cell ID, or a list of cell IDs. Once received, the UE considers the RSs belonging to the indicated cell (s) and configured in the indicated / linked L1 RS resource configuration are applicable to this L1 measurement reporting evaluation and reporting.

[0198] For a non-limiting example, UE’s current serving cell is Cell-1, network configures L1 measurement configuration including a resource configuration and a reporting configuration. The resource configuration includes CSI-RS resources 1, 2, 3, 4 of candidate Cell-2 (with PCI=1) and CSI-RS resources 5, 6, 7, 8 of candidate Cell-3 (with PCI=2) , the resource configuration ID=1. In the L1 measurement reporting configuration, the reporting type set to LTM-3, and it is linked to the resource configuration. In addition, the reporting configuration includes an IE that indicates the applicable cell is PCI=2. In this case, the UE only considers CSI-RS resources 5, 6, 7, 8 of candidate Cell-3 as applicable for LTM-3 neighbor cell / beam evaluation and decide whether to trigger LTM-3 event reporting.

[0199] For another method (Method 3) , in a L1 measurement reporting configuration, network explicit indicates the applicable RSs by configuring a list of RS indexes in the reporting configuration. Once received, the UE considers the RS indexes that match the RS resources configured in the indicated / linked L1 RS resource configuration are applicable to this L1 measurement reporting evaluation and reporting.

[0200] For another method (Method 4) , in a L1 measurement reporting configuration, network explicit indicates the applicable RSs by configuring a bitmap of RS resources in the reporting configuration. The first bit of the bitmap refers to the first RS resource configured in the indicated / linked L1 RS resource configuration; the second bit of the bitmap refers to the second RS resource configured in the indicated / linked L1 RS resource configuration; and so on. Once received, the UE considers the RS resources for which corresponding bit (s) are set to 1 to be applicable to this L1 measurement reporting evaluation and reporting.

[0201] For a non-limiting example, UE’s current serving cell is Cell-1, network configures L1 measurement configuration including a resource configuration and a reporting configuration. The resource configuration includes CSI-RS resources 1, 2, 3, 4 of candidate Cell-2 (with candidate ID=1) and CSI-RS resources 5, 6, 7, 8 of candidate Cell-3 (with candidate ID=2) , these CSI-RS resources are listed in order, the resource configuration ID=1. In the L1 measurement reporting configuration, the reporting type set to LTM-4, and it is linked to the resource configuration. In addition, the reporting configuration includes a bitmap {1, 0, 1, 0, 0, 0, 1, 1} that indicates the applicable beams for this event evaluation. In this case, the UE only considers CSI-RS resources 1, 3 of candidate Cell-2 and CSI-RS resources 7, 8 of candidate Cell-3 as applicable for LTM-4 evaluation.

[0202] For another method (Method 5) , for a L1 measurement reporting configuration, a UE determines the applicable RSs based on predefined rule. For example, if the reporting event type is LTM-1 or LTM-2, then UE considers the RSs belonging to current serving cell (e.g. PCell, PSCell) and configured in the indicated / linked L1 RS resource configuration are applicable to this L1 measurement reporting evaluation and reporting.

[0203] For another method (Method 6) , for a L1 measurement reporting configuration, a UE determines the applicable RSs based on predefined rule and explicit configuration in the L1 measurement reporting configuration. The explicit configuration includes one or more of followings: a candidate Cell ID, or a list of candidate cell IDs, or a serving Cell ID, or a list of serving cell IDs, or a PCI, or a list of PCIs.

[0204] For a non-limiting example, the UE is configured with CA, the current serving PCell is Cell-0 and SCell is Cell-1, network configures L1 measurement configuration including a resource configuration and a reporting configuration. In the L1 measurement reporting configuration, the reporting type set to LTM-6, and it is linked to the resource configuration. In addition, the reporting configuration includes an IE that indicates serving Cell is Cell-1, the reporting configuration also includes an IE that indicates the applicable cell is candidate ID=1. In this case, the UE considers the RSs / beams of SCell Cell-1 are used for LTM-6 serving cell / beam evaluation and the CSI-RS resources 1, 2, 3, 4 of candidate Cell-2 as applicable for LTM-6 neighbour cell / beam evaluation and decide whether to trigger LTM-6 event reporting. In one implementation, the serving beams of SCell Cell-1 may not be configured in the resource configuration and they are determined by other method (e.g. activated TCI-state, or QCLed with activated TCI-state) .

[0205] In some implementations, the UE may use a combination of above different methods to determine the applicable RSs for a L1 measurement reporting.

[0206] In some implementations, if the L1 measurement reporting type is event based, and the event evaluation includes both serving and neighbour cell / beam (e.g. LTM-3, LTM-5, LTM-6) , then above method may only be used to determine the applicable cell / beam for neighbour cell / beam measurement and event evaluation. For serving cell / beam, it can be determined by other method (e.g. activated TCI-state, or QCLed with activated TCI-state) .

[0207] In some implementations, if the L1 measurement reporting type is event based, and the event evaluation includes both serving and neighbour cell / beam (e.g. LTM-3, LTM-5, LTM-6) , then above method may be used to determine both the applicable cell / beam for neighbour cell / beam, and the applicable cell / beam for serving cell / beam in L1 measurement and event evaluation. And different methods may be used for serving cell / beam and neighbour cell / beam determination separately.

[0208] In some implementations, more than one L1 reporting configuration that is linked to the same L1 RS resource configuration can be configured to the UE, in this case, different L1 reporting configurations can indicate different applicable cell / beams for the reporting. In one implementation, these L1 reporting configuration can be generated by the same cell or different cells.
