Abstract
Description
SCHEMES FOR MOBILITY ENHANCEMENTSFIELD
[0001] This disclosure relates generally to wireless communications, and, more particularly, to methods and apparatus about schemes for mobility enhancements.BACKGROUND
[0002] In communication systems, considering the mobility of UEs, base stations, or relays, it is often necessary to address the issues of cell handover or beam switching. Optimizing the cell handover or beam switching process is crucial. This patent proposes a new cell handover or beam switching process for scenarios in communication systems where UEs have GNSS capabilities or UE positioning is available. The proposed procedures aim to further reduce system overhead and increase the reliability of cell handover or beam switching. It mainly includes UE-triggered and network-triggered methods.SUMMARY
[0003] In a communication system, when a User Equipment (UE) is at the cell boundary, beam boundary, or satellite service area boundary, it is necessary to perform a cell handover, beam handover, or satellite handover. Traditional solutions mainly fall into two categories: one is network-controlled handover to the target cell, beam, or satellite, and the other is network-scheduled handover to the target cell, beam, or satellite based on the link quality reported by the UE for neighboring cells, beams, or satellites. These solutions face issues when the UE is at the boundary of multiple cells, beams, or satellite service areas, where the link quality measurements reported by the UE may be inaccurate. Additionally, in certain scenarios, such as in Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) , the target with the best link quality at a given moment may not necessarily correspond to the optimal target for the longest service duration. To address these issues, considering the UE's mobility with a specific target, this patent proposes a cell handover, beam handover, or satellite handover scheme based on UE-triggered or UE-assisted mechanisms.
[0004] In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may be a UE. The UE reports assistance information report for cell handover, beam handover, or satellite handover. The Network sends command for for cell handover, beam handover, or satellite handover based on assistance information reported by UE.
[0005] To the accomplishment of the foregoing and related ends, the one or more aspects comprise the features hereinafter fully described and particularly pointed out in the claims. The following description and the annexed drawings set forth in detail certain illustrative features of the one or more aspects. These features are indicative, however, of but a few of the various ways in which the principles of various aspects may be employed, and this description is intended to include all such aspects and their equivalents.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0015] The detailed description set forth below in connection with the appended drawings is intended as a description of various configurations and is not intended to represent the only configurations in which the concepts described herein may be practiced. The detailed description includes specific details for the purpose of providing a thorough understanding of various concepts. However, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that these concepts may be practiced without these specific details. In some instances, well known structures and components are shown in block diagram form in order to avoid obscuring such concepts.
[0016] Several aspects of telecommunication systems will now be presented with reference to various apparatus and methods. These apparatus and methods will be described in the following detailed description and illustrated in the accompanying drawings by various blocks, components, circuits, processes, algorithms, etc. (collectively referred to as “elements” ) . These elements may be implemented using electronic hardware, computer software, or any combination thereof. Whether such elements are implemented as hardware or software depends upon the particular application and design constraints imposed on the overall system.
[0017] In a communication system, when a User Equipment (UE) is at the cell boundary, beam boundary, or satellite service area boundary, it is necessary to perform a cell handover, beam handover, or satellite handover. Additionally, in certain scenarios, such as Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) , the target with the best link quality at a given moment may not necessarily correspond to the optimal target for the longest service duration. To address these issues, considering the UE's movement has a certain directionality, this patent proposes a cell handover, beam handover, or satellite handover scheme based on UE-triggered or UE-assisted mechanisms. More specifically, we propose new schemes for cell (re) selection and measurement:Proposal#1: Procedure of beam switch The Procedure of beam switch can be triggered by UE when there is Beam switch request information in the UE assistance information report, or the Procedure of beam switch can be triggered by Network when there is not Beam switch request information in the UE assistance information report.
