Living glue for treating inflammatory bowel disease

Abstract

The present disclosure provides a modified microorganism comprising i) a sensing module comprising a layer 1 controlled promoter activated by a disease associated factor; ii) an amplifier module driven by the layer 1 controlled promoter, and generating a signal molecule; and iii) a therapeutic module generating a therapeutic molecule for treating the disease in the presence of the signal molecule, wherein the disease is a bowel disease. The present disclosure further provides a method of treating a bowel disease in a subject in need thereof, comprising administering the modified microorganism of the present disclosure to the subject.
