AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing communication systems face challenges in efficiently managing on-demand system information block (SIB1) requests, balancing network energy savings with the latency and urgency requirements of user equipment (UE) in acquiring SIB1, particularly in network energy saving (NES) modes.

Method used

The system configures multiple sets of occasions and preambles for SIB1 requests, allowing UE to select based on specific conditions such as mobility status and urgency, optimizing the frequency and timing of SIB1 acquisition to minimize network energy consumption while meeting UE needs.

🎯Benefits of technology

This approach enhances network energy efficiency by reducing unnecessary SIB1 transmissions while ensuring timely access for UEs with varying latency requirements, thus optimizing resource utilization and reducing acquisition delays.

Abstract

Example embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to configuration of an on -demand system information block 1 (SIB1) request. A method comprises receiving, from a network node, configuration information indicating a plurality of configurations for an on-demand SIB1 request, the plurality of configurations at least comprising a first configuration indicating a set of occasions for transmitting the on -demand SIB1 request, and a second configuration indicating a subset of the set of occasions; based on a determination of whether a condition for the plurality of configurations is satisfied, determining a target occasion according to one of the plurality of configurations; and initiating the on-demand SIB1 request in the target occasion.
