AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Conventional oil-based cosmetic compositions struggle to provide high hydration and hydrophobicity while maintaining stability and a comfortable finish due to the separation of glycerol during formulation processes.

Method used

A glycerol-in-oil leave-on cosmetic composition comprising specific oil components, a surfactant with an HLB value of 6 to 15, and optional gelling agents, with a water content less than 5% to ensure stability and dispersibility of glycerol in oil components.

🎯Benefits of technology

The composition achieves excellent stability during formulation, provides a super moisturizing effect, and a comfortable finish without dryness, with optional gelling agents enhancing the final formula's stability.

Abstract

A glycerol-in-oil leave-on cosmetic composition comprising: (A) at least one oil component selected from the group consisting of (A1) squalane and (A2) an ester-based oil, liquid at 25 °C having a viscosity of 3500 mPa∙s or higher at 25 °C, (B) glycerol, (C) a surfactant with an HLB value of 6 to 15 comprising an ester of polyglycerol and isostearic acid, and optionally (D) at least one oil-soluble gelling agent selected from the group consisting of (D1) a fatty acid ester of glycerol, (D2) a wax and (D3) a fatty acid ester of pentaerythritol, wherein the water content of the composition is less than 5 mass% of water, based on the total amount of the composition.
