Abstract

A spectral filtering ophthalmic lens for treatment of myopia or hyperopia may include a base lens having a plurality of lenslets formed on its surface. Spectral filtering may be applied to certain regions of the lens by a colored pattern composed of a colored dye which may be applied to the base lens directly or to a laminate that is secured to the base lens. The colored pattern may include a plurality of colored dots which are aligned with the lenslets. The colored pattern may include a plurality of colored regions which fill spaces between the lenslets and / or surround the lenslets. The colored pattern may be formed from a dye such as a yellow dye or a blue dye. The colored pattern may be printed onto the base lens or onto a sheet or laminate attached to a base lens.
