Abstract
The invention relates to the field of lithium metallurgy, in particular to methods for extracting lithium from waste from tailings dumps of rare metal production. A method for extracting lithium from rare metal production waste, including sulfatization of lithium-containing tailings in a mixture with 93% sulfuric acid at a temperature of 300°C, a solid:liquid ratio of 6:1 (sulfuric acid consumption of 0.17 ml / g) and a duration of 1 hour, with subsequent aqueous leaching of the sulfate cake, whereby prior to sulfatization, preliminary high-temperature calcination of the tailings at 1000-1350°C is excluded, then, after sulfatization, the resulting sulfate cake is leached with water at a temperature of 90°C, a solid:liquid ratio of 1:10, and a duration of 0.5-2 hours. The technical result achieved by the proposed invention is a reduction in energy consumption due to the elimination of the high-temperature calcination operation at 1000-1350°C, while ensuring a high degree of lithium extraction into the solution of 98.7%.
