AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

In next-generation wireless communication systems, existing technologies struggle to effectively save power and reduce signaling overhead while maintaining the ability to quickly return to dual connectivity (DC) operation in the suspended state of the secondary cell group (SCG).

Method used

By performing relaxation measurements in the SCG suspend state, including reduced measurements of PSCell and SCell, and employing auxiliary DRX configuration and DRX relaxation factor, various UE behaviors and signaling are reduced, achieving power savings and a fast return to DC operation.

Benefits of technology

It achieves power savings, reduced signaling overhead and reduced latency in DC mode cell operation, thereby improving system efficiency and battery life.

Abstract

The technology discussed herein can facilitate suspended secondary cell group (SCG) state relaxation measurements. One example aspect is a user equipment (UE) device comprising: a memory; an antenna; a transceiver connected to the antenna; and a processor configured to: receive, from a base station (BS), signaling comprising an indication to enter a suspended state of a secondary cell group (SCG) while in a dual connectivity (DC) mode in which the UE is connected to a master node (MN) associated with a master cell group (MCG) and a secondary node (SN) associated with the SCG comprising a primary secondary cell (PSCell); enter, in response to the signaling, the suspended state of the SCG; perform, while in the suspended state of the SCG, relaxation measurements on the PSCell; and transmit, to the BS, a measurement report comprising one or more measurement results from the relaxation measurements.
