Description

Technical Field

[0001] The present application relates to wireless communication systems, and more particularly to reporting reference signal measurements for predictive beam management. Background Art

[0002] Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide various types of communication content, such as voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcast, etc. These systems may be able to support communication with multiple users by sharing available system resources (e.g., time, frequency, and power). A wireless multiple-access communication system may include several base stations (BSs), each of which simultaneously supports communication for multiple communication devices, which may be otherwise referred to as user equipment (UE).

[0003] In order to meet the growing demand for extended mobile broadband connectivity, wireless communication technology is evolving from LTE technology to next generation new radio (NR) technology. For example, NR is designed to provide lower latency, higher bandwidth or throughput, and higher reliability compared to LTE. NR is designed to operate on a wideband array, for example, from low bands below about 1 gigahertz (GHz) and from about 1 GHz to about 6 GHz mid-bands to high bands such as millimeter wave (mmWave) bands. NR is also designed to operate across different spectrum types, from licensed spectrum to unlicensed and shared spectrum. Spectrum sharing enables operators to opportunistically aggregate spectrum to dynamically support high bandwidth services. Spectrum sharing can extend the benefits of NR technology to operating entities that may not have access to licensed spectrum.

[0004] NR can support various deployment scenarios to benefit from various spectrums in different frequency ranges, licensed and / or unlicensed, and / or coexistence of LTE and NR technologies. For example, NR can be deployed in standalone NR mode on licensed and / or unlicensed bands, or in dual connectivity mode with various combinations of NR and LTE on licensed and / or unlicensed bands.

[0005] In a wireless communication network, a BS can communicate with a UE in both the uplink and downlink directions. Sidelinks were introduced in LTE to allow a UE to transmit data to another UE (e.g., from one vehicle to another vehicle) without tunneling through the BS and / or associated core network. LTE sidelink technology has been extended to provide device-to-device (D2D) communications, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications, and / or cellular vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X) communications. Similarly, NR can be extended to support sidelink communications, D2D communications, V2X communications, and / or C-V2X on licensed and / or unlicensed bands (e.g., shared bands). In order to provide a comprehensive understanding of the various concepts, the specific embodiments include specific details. [0025] The present disclosure as a whole relates to wireless communication systems, which are also referred to as wireless communication networks. In various examples, techniques and devices can be used for wireless communication networks, such as code division multiple access (CDMA) networks, time division multiple access (TDMA) networks, frequency division multiple access (FDMA) networks, orthogonal FDMA (OFDMA) networks, single carrier FDMA (SC-FDMA) networks, LTE networks, GSM networks, 5th generation (5G) or new radio (NR) networks and other communication networks. As described herein, the terms "network" and "system" can be used interchangeably.

[0026] OFDMA network can realize radio technology such as Evolved UTRA (E-UTRA), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11, IEEE 802.16, IEEE 802.20, flash-OFDM, etc. UTRA, E-UTRA and Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) are parts of Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS). Specifically, Long Term Evolution (LTE) is a UMTS version using E-UTRA. UTRA, E-UTRA, GSM, UMTS and LTE are described in documents provided by an organization named "3rd Generation Partnership Project" (3GPP), and cdma2000 is described in documents from an organization named "3rd Generation Partnership Project 2" (3GPP2). These various radio technologies and standards are known or under development. For example, the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) is a collaboration between telecommunication association groups with the goal of defining a globally applicable third generation (3G) mobile phone specification. 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) is a 3GPP project aimed at improving the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) mobile phone standard. 3GPP may define specifications for next generation mobile networks, mobile systems, and mobile devices. The present disclosure relates to the evolution from LTE, 4G, 5G, NR and beyond wireless technologies, where access to wireless spectrum is shared between networks using a range of new and different radio access technologies or radio air interfaces.

[0027] Specifically, 5G networks consider various deployments, various spectrums, and various services and devices that can be implemented using a unified air interface based on OFDM. To achieve these goals, in addition to developing new radio technologies for 5G NR networks, further enhancements to LTE and LTE-A are also considered. 5G NR will be able to scale to (1) ultra-high density (e.g., about 1M nodes / km) 2 (1) provide coverage for the massive Internet of Things (IoT) with ultra-low complexity (e.g., on the order of tens of bits / second), ultra-low energy (e.g., on the order of 10+ years of battery life), and deep coverage with the ability to reach challenging locations; (2) provide coverage including mission-critical control with strong security to protect sensitive personal, financial, or classified information, ultra-high reliability (e.g., on the order of 99.9999% reliability), ultra-low latency (e.g., on the order of 1 millisecond), and for users with extensive mobility or lack of mobility; and (3) provide coverage with enhanced mobile broadband (including extremely high capacity (e.g., on the order of 10Tbps / km 2 ), coverage of extremely high data rates (e.g., multi-Gbps rates, 100+Mbps user experience rates), and deep awareness with advanced discovery and optimization).

[0028] 5G NR can be implemented using an optimized OFDM-based waveform with scalable parameter sets and transmission time intervals (TTIs); with a common, flexible framework to efficiently multiplex services and features using dynamic low-latency time division duplex (TDD) / frequency division duplex (FDD) designs; and with advanced wireless technologies such as massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), robust millimeter wave (mmWave) transmission, advanced channel decoding, and device-centric mobility. The scalability of parameter sets in 5G NR and the scaling of subcarrier spacing can effectively address the operation of various services across different spectrums and different deployments. For example, in various outdoor and macro coverage deployments of less than 3GHz FDD / TDD implementations, the subcarrier spacing can appear at 15kHz on bandwidths (BW) such as 5MHz, 10MHz, 20MHz, etc. For other various outdoor and small cell coverage deployments of TDD greater than 3GHz, the subcarrier spacing can appear at 30kHz on 80 / 100MHz BW. For various other indoor broadband implementations, using TDD on the unlicensed portion of the 5 GHz band, subcarrier spacing may occur at 60 kHz over 160 MHz BW. Finally, for various deployments transmitting with the millimeter wave component at 28 GHz TDD, subcarrier spacing may occur at 120 kHz over 500 MHz BW.

[0029] 5G NR's scalable parameter sets facilitate scalable TTIs for different latency and quality of service (QoS) requirements. For example, shorter TTIs can be used for low latency and high reliability, while longer TTIs can be used for higher spectral efficiency. Efficient multiplexing of long and short TTIs allows transmission to start on symbol boundaries. 5G NR also envisions a self-contained integrated subframe design with uplink / downlink scheduling information, data, and acknowledgment in the same subframe. The self-contained integrated subframe supports communications in unlicensed or contention-based shared spectrum, adaptive uplink / downlink that can be flexibly configured on a cell-by-cell basis to dynamically switch between uplink and downlink to meet current traffic needs.

[0030] The various other aspects and features of the present disclosure are further described below. It should be apparent that the teachings herein can be embodied in various forms, and any specific structure, function, or both disclosed herein are merely representative and not restrictive. Based on the teachings herein, it should be understood by those of ordinary skill in the art that the aspects disclosed herein can be implemented independently of any other aspects, and two or more of these aspects can be combined in various ways. For example, any number of aspects set forth herein can be used to implement a device or practice method. In addition, such a device can be implemented, or such a method can be implemented, using other structures, functions, or structures and functions other than or different from one or more aspects of the aspects set forth herein. For example, the method can be implemented as a part of a system, device, device, and / or as instructions stored on a computer-readable medium for execution on a processor or computer. In addition, an aspect can include at least one element of a claim.

[0031] Deploying NR on unlicensed spectrum is called NR unlicensed (NR-U). The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) are working to regulate 6 GHz as a new unlicensed band for wireless communications. The addition of the 6 GHz band allows hundreds of megahertz (MHz) of bandwidth (BW) to be available for unlicensed band communications. In addition, NR-U can also be deployed on the 2.4 GHz unlicensed band, which is currently shared by various radio access technologies (RATs), such as IEEE 802.11 wireless local area networks (WLANs) or WiFi and / or license assisted access (LAA). Sidelink communications can benefit from utilizing the additional bandwidth available in unlicensed spectrum. However, channel access in a specific unlicensed spectrum can be managed by official agencies. For example, some unlicensed bands may impose restrictions on the power spectral density (PSD) and / or minimum occupied channel bandwidth (OCB) of transmissions in unlicensed bands. For example, the unlicensed national information infrastructure (UNII) radio band has a minimum OCB requirement of about at least 70%.

[0032] Some sidelink systems may operate on a 20 MHz bandwidth in an unlicensed band, e.g., for listen-before-talk (LBT) based channel access. The BS may configure a sidelink resource pool for sidelink communications on one or more 20 MHz LBT sub-bands. The sidelink resource pool is typically allocated with a plurality of frequency subchannels within a sidelink bandwidth part (SL-BWP), and the sidelink UE may select a sidelink resource (e.g., one or more subchannels in frequency and one or more time slots in time) for sidelink communications from the sidelink resource pool.

[0033] The deployment of a communication system (such as a 5G New Radio (NR) system) can be arranged with various components or constituent parts in a variety of ways. In a 5G NR system or network, a network node, a network entity, a mobility element of a network, a radio access network (RAN) node, a core network node, a network element or a network equipment (such as a base station (BS), or one or more units (or one or more components) that perform base station functionality can be implemented in an aggregated or decomposed architecture. For example, a BS (such as a Node B (NB), an evolved NB (eNB), an NR BS, a 5G NB, an access point (AP), a transmit receive point (TRP) or a cell, etc.) can be implemented as an aggregated base station (also referred to as an independent BS or a monolithic BS) or a decomposed base station.

[0034] A converged base station may be configured to utilize a radio protocol stack physically or logically integrated within a single RAN node. A decomposed base station may be configured to utilize a protocol stack physically or logically distributed between two or more units, such as one or more central or centralized units (CUs), one or more distributed units (DUs), or one or more radio units (RUs). In some aspects, a CU may be implemented within a RAN node, and one or more DUs may be co-located with the CU, or alternatively, may be geographically or virtually distributed in one or more other RAN nodes. A DU may be implemented to communicate with one or more RUs. Each of a CU, a DU, and a RU may also be implemented as a virtual unit, i.e., a virtual central unit (VCU), a virtual distributed unit (VDU), or a virtual radio unit (VRU).

[0035] Base station type operations or network designs may take into account the aggregated nature of base station functionality. For example, a disaggregated base station may be utilized in an integrated access backhaul (IAB) network, an open radio access network (O-RAN (network configurations such as those initiated by the O-RAN Alliance)), or a virtualized radio access network (vRAN, also known as a cloud radio access network (C-RAN)). Decomposition may include distributing functionality across two or more units at various physical locations, as well as virtually distributing functionality of at least one unit, which may enable flexibility in network design. Individual units of a disaggregated base station or disaggregated RAN architecture may be configured for wired or wireless communication with at least one other unit.

[0036] Figure 1A wireless communication network 100 according to some aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. The network 100 includes multiple base stations (BSs) 105 and other network entities. The BS 105 may be a station that communicates with the UE 115 and may also be referred to as: an evolved Node B (eNB), a next generation eNB (gNB), an access point, etc. Each BS 105 may provide communication coverage for a particular geographic area. In 3GPP, the term "cell" may refer to the particular geographic coverage area of the BS 105 and / or a BS subsystem serving the coverage area, depending on the context in which the term is used.

[0037] BS105 can provide communication coverage for macro cells or small cells (such as pico cells or femto cells), and / or other types of cells. Macro cells generally cover a relatively large geographic area (e.g., several kilometers in radius) and can allow unrestricted access by UEs with service subscriptions with a network provider. Small cells (such as pico cells) will generally cover a relatively small geographic area and can allow unrestricted access by UEs with service subscriptions with a network provider. Small cells (such as femto cells) will generally also cover a relatively small geographic area (e.g., a home) and, in addition to unrestricted access, can also provide restricted access by UEs associated with the femto cells (e.g., UEs in a closed subscriber group (CSG), UEs of users in a home, etc.). A BS for a macro cell may be referred to as a macro BS. A BS for a small cell may be referred to as a small cell BS, a pico BS, a femto BS, or a home BS. In Figure 1 In the example shown, BS105d and 105e may be conventional macro BSs, while BS105a to 105c may be macro BSs with one of three-dimensional (3D), full-dimensional (FD) or massive MIMO capabilities. BS105a to 105c may utilize their higher dimensional MIMO capabilities to utilize 3D beamforming in both elevation and azimuth beamforming to increase coverage and capacity. BS105f may be a small cell BS, which may be a home node or a portable access point. BS105 may support one or more (e.g., two, three, four, etc.) cells.

[0038] The network 100 may support synchronous or asynchronous operation. For synchronous operation, the BSs may have similar frame timing, and transmissions from different BSs may be approximately aligned in time. For asynchronous operation, the BSs may have different frame timing, and transmissions from different BSs may not be aligned in time.

[0039] UE 115 is dispersed throughout the wireless network 100, and each UE 115 can be stationary or mobile. UE 115 can also be referred to as a terminal, a mobile station, a user unit, a station, etc. UE 115 can be a cellular phone, a personal digital assistant (PDA), a wireless modem, a wireless communication device, a handheld device, a tablet computer, a laptop computer, a cordless phone, a wireless local loop (WLL) station, etc. In one aspect, UE 115 can be a device including a universal integrated circuit card (UICC). On the other hand, UE can be a device that does not include UICC. In some aspects, UE 115 that does not include UICC can also be referred to as IoT device or Internet of Everything (IoE) device. UE 115a to 115d are examples of mobile smart phone type devices that access the network 100. UE 115 can also be a machine that is specifically configured for connected communications (including machine type communications (MTC), enhanced MTC (eMTC), narrowband IoT (NB-IoT), etc.). UEs 115e to 115h are examples of various machines configured for communication to access network 100. UEs 115i to 115k are examples of vehicles equipped with wireless communication devices configured for communication to access network 100. UE 115 may be able to communicate with any type of BS, whether macro BS, small cell, etc. Figure 1 In the figure, lightning (e.g., communication link) indicates wireless transmission between UE 115 and serving BS 105 (which is a BS designated to serve UE 115 on downlink (DL) and / or uplink (UL)), desired transmission between BS 105, backhaul transmission between BSs, or sidelink transmission between UE 115.

[0040] In operation, BSs 105a to 105c use 3D beamforming and cooperative spatial techniques (such as coordinated multipoint (CoMP) or multiple connections) to serve UEs 115a and 115b. Macro BS 105d may perform backhaul communications with BSs 105a to 105c and small cell BS 105f. Macro BS 105d also transmits multicast services that UEs 115c and 115d subscribe to and receive. Such multicast services may include mobile TV or streaming video, or may include other services for providing community information, such as weather emergencies or alerts, such as Amber alerts or gray alerts.

[0041] BS 105 may also communicate with a core network. The core network may provide user authentication, access authorization, tracking, Internet Protocol (IP) connections, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. At least some BS 105 (e.g., the BS may be an example of an evolved Node B (eNB) or an access node controller (ANC)) may interface with the core network 130 via a backhaul link (e.g., S1, S2, etc.), and may perform radio configuration and scheduling to communicate with UE 115. In various examples, BS 105 may communicate with each other directly or indirectly (e.g., via a core network) over a backhaul link (e.g., X1, X2, etc.), which may be a wired or wireless communication link.

[0042] The network 100 may also support mission-critical communications with ultra-reliable and redundant links for mission-critical devices such as UE 115e, which may be vehicles (e.g., cars, trucks, buses, autonomous vehicles, airplanes, ships, etc.). The redundant communication links with UE 115e may include links from macro BSs 105d and 105e, and links from small cell BS 105f. Other machine-type devices such as UE 115f (e.g., a thermometer), UE 115g (e.g., a smart meter), and UE 115h (e.g., a wearable device) may communicate directly with a BS (such as small cell BS 105f and macro BS 105e) through the network 100, or in a multi-hop configuration by communicating with another user device that relays its information to the network (such as UE 115f communicating temperature measurement information to smart meter UE 115g, which is then reported to the network through small cell BS 105f). In some aspects, the UE 115h can harvest energy from the surrounding environment associated with the UE 115h. The network 100 can also provide additional network efficiency through dynamic, low-latency TDD / FDD communications, such as vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V), vehicle-to-everything (V2X), cellular vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X) communications between the UE 115i, 115j, or 115k and other UEs 115, and / or vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communications between the UE 115i, 115j, or 115k and the BS 105.

[0043] In some implementations, network 100 utilizes an OFDM-based waveform for communication. An OFDM-based system can divide the system BW into multiple (K) orthogonal subcarriers, which are also commonly referred to as subcarriers, frequency modulations, frequency slots, etc. Each subcarrier can be modulated with data. In some instances, the subcarrier spacing between adjacent subcarriers can be fixed, and the total number of subcarriers (K) can depend on the system BW. The system BW can also be divided into subbands. In other instances, the subcarrier spacing and / or the duration of the TTI can be scalable.

[0044] In some instances, BS105 may assign or schedule transmission resources (e.g., in the form of time-frequency resource blocks (RBs)) for downlink (DL) and uplink (UL) transmissions in network 100. DL refers to the transmission direction from BS105 to UE 115, and UL refers to the transmission direction from UE 115 to BS105. The communication may be in the form of a radio frame. A radio frame may be divided into a plurality of subframes, e.g., about 10. Each subframe may be divided into time slots, e.g., about 2. Each time slot may also be divided into micro-slots. In FDD mode, simultaneous UL and DL transmissions may occur in different frequency bands. For example, each subframe includes a UL subframe in a UL frequency band and a DL subframe in a DL frequency band. In TDD mode, UL and DL transmissions occur in different time periods using the same frequency band. For example, a subframe subset (e.g., a DL subframe) in a radio frame may be used for DL transmission, and another subframe subset (e.g., an UL subframe) in a radio frame may be used for UL transmission.

[0045] DL subframes and UL subframes can also be divided into several zones. For example, each DL or UL subframe can have a predefined zone for the transmission of reference signals, control information and data. Reference signals are predetermined signals that facilitate communication between BS105 and UE 115. For example, reference signals can have a specific pilot pattern or structure, wherein pilot frequency modulation can span an operational BW or frequency band, and each pilot frequency modulation is located at a predefined time and a predefined frequency. For example, BS105 can send a cell-specific reference signal (CRS) and / or a channel state information-reference signal (CSI-RS) to enable UE 115 to estimate a DL channel. Similarly, UE 115 can send a sounding reference signal (SRS) to enable BS105 to estimate an UL channel. Control information can include resource assignments and protocol control. Data can include protocol data and / or operational data. In some instances, BS105 and UE 115 can communicate using self-contained subframes. Self-contained subframes can include a portion for DL communication and a portion for UL communication. A self-contained subframe may be DL-centric or UL-centric. A DL-centric subframe may include a duration longer for DL communications than for UL communications. A UL-centric subframe may include a duration longer for UL communications than for UL communications.

[0046] In some instances, network 100 may be an NR network deployed on a licensed spectrum. BS 105 may send synchronization signals (e.g., including a primary synchronization signal (PSS) and a secondary synchronization signal (SSS)) in network 100 to facilitate synchronization. BS 105 may broadcast system information associated with network 100 (e.g., including a master information block (MIB), remaining minimum system information (RMSI), and other system information (OSI)) to facilitate initial network access. In some instances, BS 105 may broadcast PSS, SSS, and / or MIB in the form of a synchronization signal block (SSB) on a physical broadcast channel (PBCH), and may broadcast RMSI and / or OSI on a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH).

[0047] In some instances, a UE 115 attempting to access the network 100 may perform an initial cell search by detecting a PSS from the BS 105. The PSS may enable synchronization of period timing and may indicate a physical layer identification value. The UE 115 may then receive the SSS. The SSS may enable radio frame synchronization and may provide a cell identification value, which may be combined with the physical layer identification value to identify the cell. The SSS may also enable detection of duplex mode and cyclic prefix length. The PSS and SSS may be located at the center portion of the carrier or at any suitable frequency within the carrier.

[0048] After receiving the PSS and SSS, the UE 115 may receive the MIB. The MIB may include system information for initial network access and scheduling information for RMSI and / or OSI. After decoding the MIB, the UE 115 may receive the RMSI and / or OSI. The RMSI and / or OSI may include radio resource control (RRC) information related to random access channel (RACH) procedures, paging, control resource set (CORESET) for physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring, physical uplink control channel (PUCCH), physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH), power control, SRS, and cell barring.

[0049] After obtaining the MIB, RMSI and / or OSI, the UE 115 may perform a random access procedure to establish a connection with the BS 105. For the random access procedure, the UE 115 may send a random access preamble, and the BS 105 may respond with a random access response. Upon receiving the random access response, the UE 115 may send a connection request to the BS 105, and the BS 105 may respond with a connection response (e.g., a contention resolution message).

[0050] After the connection is established, the UE 115 and the BS 105 may enter a normal operation phase, in which operation data may be exchanged. For example, the BS 105 may schedule the UE 115 for UL and / or DL communications. The BS 105 may send UL and / or DL scheduling grants to the UE 115 via the PDCCH. The BS 105 may send DL communication signals to the UE 115 via the PDSCH according to the DL scheduling grant. The UE 115 may send UL communication signals to the BS 105 via the PUSCH and / or PUCCH according to the UL scheduling grant.

[0051] The network 100 may be designed to implement a wide range of use cases. Although in some examples, the network 100 may utilize a monolithic base station, there are a variety of other architectures that can be used to perform various aspects of the present disclosure. For example, BS105 may be separated into a remote radio head (RRH) and a baseband unit (BBU). The BBU may be concentrated in a BBU pool and connected to the RRH via a low-latency and high-bandwidth transmission link such as an optical transmission link. The BBU pool may be a cloud-based resource. In some aspects, baseband processing is performed on a virtualized server running in a data center rather than co-located with the BS105. In another example, base station functionality may be split between a remote unit (RU), a distributed unit (DU), and a central unit (CU). The RU typically performs low physical layer functions, while the DU performs higher layer functions, which may include higher physical layer functions. The CU performs higher RAN functions, such as radio resource control (RRC).

[0052] For simplicity of discussion, the present disclosure refers to the methods of the present disclosure being performed by a base station or more generally by a network entity, while the functionality may be performed by a variety of architectures other than a monolithic base station. In addition to a disaggregated base station, aspects of the present disclosure may also be performed by a centralized unit (CU), a distributed unit (DU), a radio unit (RU), a near real-time (near RT) RAN intelligent controller (RIC), a non-real-time (non-RT) RIC, an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) node, a relay node, a sidelink node, etc.

[0053] In some aspects, UE 115a may receive a channel state information (CSI) reporting configuration from BS 105a. UE 115a may receive a plurality of reference signals from BS 105a. UE 115a may send at least one CSI report to BS 105a based on the CSI reporting configuration, the at least one CSI report indicating one or more first reference signals in the plurality of reference signals satisfying a first threshold and one or more second reference signals in the plurality of reference signals satisfying a second threshold. The first threshold may be different from the second threshold.

[0054] Figure 2 A diagram illustrating an example disaggregated base station 1200 architecture is shown. The disaggregated base station 1200 architecture may include one or more central units (CUs) 1210 that may communicate directly with a core network 1220 via a backhaul link, or indirectly with the core network 1220 through one or more disaggregated base station units, such as a near real-time (near-RT) RAN intelligent controller (RIC) 1225 via an E2 link, or a non-real-time (non-RT) RIC 1215 associated with a service management and orchestration (SMO) framework 1205, or both. The CU 1210 may communicate with one or more distributed units (DUs) 1230 via respective midhaul links, such as an F1 interface. The DU 1230 may communicate with one or more radio units (RUs) 1240 via respective fronthaul links. The RU 1240 may communicate with respective UEs 120 via one or more radio frequency (RF) access links. In some implementations, a UE 120 may be served simultaneously by multiple RUs 1240.

[0055] Each of the units (i.e., CU 1210, DU 1230, RU 1240, and near-RT RIC 1225, non-RT RIC 1215, and SMO framework 1205) may include or be coupled to one or more interfaces configured to receive or send signals, data, or information (collectively referred to as signals) via a wired or wireless transmission medium. Each of the units or an associated processor or controller that provides instructions to the communication interface of these units may be configured to communicate with one or more of the other units via a transmission medium. For example, these units may include a wired interface configured to receive or send signals to one or more of the other units via a wired transmission medium. Additionally, these units may include a wireless interface that may include a receiver, a transmitter, or a transceiver (such as a radio frequency (RF) transceiver) that is configured to receive or send signals, or both, to one or more of the other units on a wireless transmission medium.

[0056] In some aspects, CU 1210 may host one or more higher layer control functions. Such control functions may include radio resource control (RRC), packet data convergence protocol (PDCP), service data adaptation protocol (SDAP), etc. Each control function may be implemented using an interface configured to communicate signals with other control functions hosted by CU 1210. CU1210 may be configured to handle user plane functionality (i.e., central unit-user plane (CU-UP)), control plane functionality (i.e., central unit-control plane (CU-CP)), or a combination thereof. In some specific implementations, CU 1210 may be logically split into one or more CU-UP units and one or more CU-CP units. When implemented in an O-RAN configuration, the CU-UP unit may communicate bidirectionally with the CU-CP unit via an interface (such as an E1 interface). As needed, CU 1210 may be implemented to communicate with DU 1230 for network control and signaling.

[0057] DU 1230 may correspond to a logical unit that includes one or more base station functions for controlling the operation of one or more RUs 1240. In some aspects, DU 1230 may host one or more of a radio link control (RLC) layer, a medium access control (MAC) layer, and one or more high physical (PHY) layers (such as modules for forward error correction (FEC) encoding and decoding, scrambling, modulation and demodulation, etc.) at least in part according to a functional split such as defined by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). In some aspects, DU 1230 may also host one or more low PHY layers. Each layer (or module) may be implemented using an interface that is configured to communicate signals with other layers (and modules) hosted by DU 1230 or with control functions hosted by CU 1210.

[0058] The lower layer functionality may be implemented by one or more RUs 1240. In some deployments, the RU 1240 controlled by the DU 1230 may correspond to a logical node that hosts RF processing functions or low PHY layer functions (such as performing fast Fourier transform (FFT), inverse FFT (iFFT), digital beamforming, physical random access channel (PRACH) extraction and filtering, etc.), or both, based at least in part on functional splitting (such as lower layer functional splitting). In such an architecture, the RU 1240 may be implemented to handle over-the-air (OTA) communications with one or more UEs 120. In some implementations, real-time and non-real-time aspects of control plane and user plane communications with the RU 1240 may be controlled by the corresponding DU 1230. In some scenarios, this configuration may enable the DU 1230 and CU 1210 to be implemented in a cloud-based RAN architecture (such as a vRAN architecture).

[0059] The SMO framework 1205 may be configured to support RAN deployment and configuration of non-virtualized network elements and virtualized network elements. For non-virtualized network elements, the SMO framework 1205 may be configured to support the deployment of dedicated physical resources for RAN coverage requirements, which may be managed via an operation and maintenance interface (such as an O1 interface). For virtualized network elements, the SMO framework 1205 may be configured to interact with a cloud computing platform (such as an open cloud (O-Cloud) 1290) to perform network element lifecycle management (such as instantiating virtualized network elements) via a cloud computing platform interface (such as an O2 interface). Such virtualized network elements may include, but are not limited to, CU 1210, DU 1230, RU 1240, and near-RT RIC 1225. In some specific implementations, the SMO framework 1205 may communicate with hardware aspects of the 4G RAN (such as an open eNB (O-eNB) 1211) via the O1 interface. Additionally, in some implementations, the SMO framework 1205 can communicate directly with one or more RUs 1240 via the O1 interface. The SMO framework 1205 can also include a non-RT RIC 1215 configured to support the functionality of the SMO framework 1205.

[0060] The non-RT RIC 1215 may be configured to include logic functions that enable non-real-time control and optimization of RAN elements and resources, artificial intelligence / machine learning (AI / ML) workflows including model training and updating, or policy-based guidance of applications / features in the near-RT RIC 1225. The non-RT RIC 1215 may be coupled to or communicate with the near-RT RIC 1225 (such as via an A1 interface). The near-RT RIC 1225 may be configured to include logic functions that enable near-real-time control and optimization of RAN elements and resources via data collection and actions through an interface (such as via an E2 interface) that connects one or more CUs 1210, one or more DUs 1230, or both, and the O-eNB with the near-RT RIC 1225.

[0061] In some implementations, in order to generate an AI / ML model to be deployed in the near-RT RIC 1225, the non-RT RIC 1215 may receive parameters or external enrichment information from an external server. Such information may be utilized by the near-RT RIC 1225 and may be received from a non-network data source or from a network function at the SMO framework 1205 or the non-RT RIC 1215. In some examples, the non-RT RIC 1215 or the near-RT RIC 1225 may be configured to tune RAN behavior or performance. For example, the non-RT RIC 1215 may monitor long-term trends and patterns of performance and employ AI / ML models to perform corrective actions through the SMO framework 1205 (such as via reconfiguration of O1) or via creation of RAN management policies (such as A1 policies).

[0062] In some aspects, a method of wireless communication may be performed by a UE 120. The method may include monitoring a first set of physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) candidate resources for PDCCH communication from a RU 1240, receiving a plurality of demodulation reference signals (DMRS) from the RU 1240, and decoding the PDCCH communication based on a metric associated with the plurality of demodulation reference signals (DMRS) satisfying a threshold.

[0063] In some aspects, the first UE 120 may send a configuration to the second UE 120 that indicates at least one of a length associated with a sidelink synchronization signal block (S-SSB) burst, a quasi-co-location (QCL) index associated with the S-SSB burst, or a first QCL order associated with the S-SSB burst. In some aspects, the first UE 120 may send the S-SSB burst to the second UE 120 based on at least one of a length associated with the S-SSB burst, a QCL index associated with the S-SSB burst, or a first QCL order associated with the S-SSB burst.

[0064] In some aspects, the first UE 120 may send an indication associated with sharing of channel occupancy time (COT) on the sidelink communication to the RU 1240. The first UE 120 may receive a COT indicator from the RU 1240, wherein the COT indicator indicates that the first UE 120 initiates a COT on the sidelink communication based on the indication associated with sharing of the COT, or the COT indicator indicates that the first UE 120 shares the COT on the sidelink communication based on the indication associated with sharing of the COT on the sidelink communication. The first UE 120 may send communications to the second UE 120 on the sidelink communication during the COT.

[0065] In some aspects, UE 120 may receive a channel state information (CSI) reporting configuration from RU 1240. UE 120 may receive a plurality of reference signals from RU 1240. UE 120 may send at least one CSI report to RU 1240 based on the CSI reporting configuration, the at least one CSI report indicating one or more first reference signals in the plurality of reference signals satisfying a first threshold and one or more second reference signals in the plurality of reference signals satisfying a second threshold. The first threshold may be different from the second threshold.

[0066] Figure 3 An example of a reference signal threshold 300 according to some aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. The reference signal threshold 300 may be implemented by aspects of the wireless communication network 100 and / or the wireless communication network 1200. For example, the reference signal threshold 300 may be implemented for communications by one or more UEs (e.g., UE 115, UE 120, or UE 900), such as described by the wireless communication network 100 and / or 1200. Figure 3 In , the x-axis represents the measurement of a reference signal in some arbitrary units.

[0067] In some aspects, a UE (e.g., UE 115, UE 120, or UE 900) may receive a channel state information (CSI) reporting configuration from a network element (e.g., BS 105, RU 1240, DU 1230, CU 1210, and / or network element 1000). In this regard, the UE may receive the CSI reporting configuration from the network element via a non-periodic triggered state configuration downlink control information (DCI), a DCI, a radio resource control (RRC) message, a semi-persistent activation state configuration via a medium access control control element (MAC-CE), a MAC-CE, a PDCCH message, a PDSCH message, or other suitable communication.

[0068] The CSI report configuration may indicate one or more thresholds. For example, the CSI report configuration may indicate a first threshold 312(1), a second threshold 312(2), a third threshold, etc. associated with a reference signal SSB 310. The UE may receive multiple reference signals from a network element. The multiple reference signals may include a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS), a synchronization signal block (SSB) 310, and / or other reference signals. In some instances, the network element may broadcast the PSS, SSS, and / or MIB in the form of a synchronization signal block (SSB) 310 on a physical broadcast channel (PBCH). The reference signal may include a zero power channel state information reference signal (ZP-CSI-RS), a non-zero power channel state information reference signal (NZP-CSI-RS), and / or an SSB 310. Each reference signal may be identified by a channel measurement resource identifier (CMR-ID). The CSI-RS may be a reference signal used in the downlink direction for channel sounding purposes and may be used by the UE to measure one or more characteristics of a radio channel.

[0069] In some aspects, the CSI report may indicate a first reference signal from among the plurality of reference signals that satisfies a first threshold 312(1). In this regard, satisfying the first threshold 312(1) may include an RSRP of the first reference signal being greater than (or greater than or equal to) the first threshold 312(1) and / or an SINR of the first reference signal being greater than (or greater than or equal to) the first threshold 312(1). The CSI report configuration may indicate a number of the strongest reference signals greater than the threshold 312(1) that should be reported. For example, the CSI report configuration may indicate that two of the strongest reference signals greater than the threshold 312(1) should be reported. In this case, the UE reports SSB 310(4) and SSB 310(5) as the strongest reference signals.

[0070] In some aspects, the CSI report may indicate a second reference signal from among the plurality of reference signals that satisfies a second threshold 312(2). In this regard, satisfying the second threshold 312(2) may include an RSRP of the second reference signal being greater than (or greater than or equal to) the second threshold 312(2) and less than (or less than or equal to) the first threshold 312(1). Additionally or alternatively, satisfying the second threshold 312(2) may include an SINR of the second reference signal being greater than (or greater than or equal to) the second threshold 312(2) and less than (or less than or equal to) the first threshold 312(1). In some aspects, the CSI report may indicate additional reference signals that satisfy a third threshold, a fourth threshold, and / or other thresholds. The CSI report configuration may indicate a number of reference signals that satisfy the second threshold 312(2) that should be reported. For example, the CSI report configuration may indicate four of the reference signals that satisfy the second threshold 312(2) that should be reported. In this case, the UE reports SSB 310(0), SSB 310(1), SSB 310(9), and SSB 310(10) as satisfying the second threshold 312(2).

[0071] Figure 4A An example of a reference signal threshold 400 according to some aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. The reference signal threshold 400 may be implemented by aspects of the wireless communication network 100 and / or the wireless communication network 1200. For example, the reference signal threshold 400 may be implemented for communications by one or more UEs (e.g., UE 115, UE 120, or UE 900), such as described by the wireless communication network 100 and / or 1200.

[0072] The measurements of the reference signals may be compared to thresholds to determine whether each reference signal satisfies the threshold. In some aspects, the thresholds may be expressed as absolute values and / or relative values. For example, the thresholds may be expressed as absolute values (e.g., dBm values). Additionally or alternatively, the thresholds may be expressed as values (e.g., dB values) relative to other thresholds (e.g., relative to absolute values and / or relative to another relative value). In some aspects, the first threshold 312(1) may be based on a first offset 414(1) relative to a measurement associated with reference signal SSB 310(n) of the first reference signals that satisfies the first threshold. For example, the measurement associated with reference signal SSB 310(n) of the first reference signals that satisfies the first threshold 312(1) may include the weakest RSRP 314 measurement (e.g., the lowest RSRP) associated with the first reference signal (e.g., the set of first reference signals SSB 310(4) and SSB 310(5)) that is the strongest of the first reference signals greater than the first threshold 312(1). The CSI report configuration may indicate the number of reference signals in the first reference signal set (e.g., two reference signals). The CSI report may include the CMR-ID of the first reference signal set that is the strongest of the first reference signals that is greater than the first threshold 312(1). The first threshold 312(1) may be determined relative to the RSRP 314 of the weakest reference signal in the first reference signal set (e.g., SSB 310(n)) that is the strongest of the first reference signals. For example, the first threshold 312(1) may be set based on an offset 414(1) that is several decibels lower (e.g., -10 dB lower, -20 dB lower, etc.) than the RSRP 314 of the weakest reference signal in the first reference signal set that is the strongest of the first reference signals. The second threshold 312(2) may be set based on an offset 414(2) that is several decibels lower (e.g., -10 dB lower, -20 dB lower, etc.) than the first threshold 312(1).

[0073] Figure 4B An example of a reference signal threshold 402 according to some aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. The reference signal threshold 402 may be implemented by aspects of the wireless communication network 100 and / or the wireless communication network 1200. For example, the reference signal threshold 402 may be implemented for communications by one or more UEs (e.g., UE 115, UE 120, or UE 900), such as described by the wireless communication network 100 and / or 1200.

[0074] In some aspects, the CSI report configuration may indicate an arbitrary number of thresholds. The CSI report may include a CMR-ID of the first reference signal set that is the strongest of the first reference signals that is greater than a first threshold 312(1). The first threshold 312(1) may be determined relative to an RSRP 314 of a weakest reference signal (e.g., SSB 310(n)) in the first reference signal set that is the strongest of the first reference signals. In some aspects, another threshold 312(k-1) may be set based on an offset 414(k-1) that is a number of decibels lower (e.g., -10 dB lower, -20 dB lower, etc.) than the second threshold 312(2). Another threshold 312(k) may be set based on an offset 414(k) that is a number of decibels lower (e.g., -10 dB lower, -20 dB lower, etc.) than the second threshold 312(k-1). In some aspects, the fourth threshold, fifth threshold, etc. may be set in a similar relative manner.

[0075] Figure 5 An example of a beam group according to some aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. The beam group may be implemented by various aspects of the wireless communication network 100 and / or the wireless communication network 1200. For example, the beam group may be implemented for communication by one or more network elements (e.g., BS 105, RU 1240, DU 1230, CU 1210, and / or network element 1000) such as described in the wireless communication network 100 and / or 1200.

[0076] In some aspects, a second reference signal that satisfies a second threshold may be associated with a reference signal group. A plurality of reference signals received from a network element may be associated with directional beams. The directional beams may be grouped based on their respective directions and assigned a CMR group identifier. For example, a first CMR group 510(1) may include a plurality of adjacent beams, a second CMR group 510(2) may include a plurality of other adjacent beams, a third CMR group 510(n) may include a plurality of other adjacent beams, and so on. The CSI report configuration may indicate the number of beams in the CMR groups 510. The UE may determine which CMR groups 510 include a preconfigured number of reference signals that satisfy a second threshold or other thresholds (e.g., a third threshold, a fourth threshold, etc.) within the CMR groups 510. In some instances, each of the thresholds (e.g., the second threshold, the third threshold, the fourth threshold, etc.) may be associated with a different RSRP and / or SINR level. If the number of reference signals that satisfy the second threshold or other thresholds (e.g., the third threshold, the fourth threshold, etc.) within the CMR group 510 reaches or exceeds a preconfigured number, the UE may indicate the CMR group identifier in the CSI report. The CSI report configuration may indicate the number of reference signals in the CMR group 510 that need to meet the second threshold or other thresholds (e.g., the third threshold, the fourth threshold, etc.). The number of reference signals in the CMR group 510 that need to meet the second threshold or other thresholds (e.g., the third threshold, the fourth threshold, etc.) may be preconfigured and / or dynamically configured. The CSI report may explicitly indicate the CMR group ID that reaches the number of reference signals that meet the second threshold or other thresholds (e.g., the third threshold, the fourth threshold, etc.). Additionally or alternatively, the CSI report may include a bitmap in which each bit corresponds to a CMR group ID (e.g., group 510(1), 510(2), 510(n)), the CMR group ID indicating whether the CMR group reaches the preconfigured number of reference signals that meet the second threshold or other thresholds (e.g., the third threshold, the fourth threshold, etc.). If no group reaches the number of reference signals that meet the second threshold or other thresholds (e.g., the third threshold, the fourth threshold, etc.), the bitmap may indicate all zeros (e.g., "0").

[0077] Figure 6 An example of a CSI reporting period 600 according to some aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. The CSI reporting period 600 may be implemented by aspects of the wireless communication network 100 and / or the wireless communication network 1200. For example, the CSI reporting period 600 may be implemented for communications by one or more UEs (e.g., UE 115, UE 120, or UE 900), such as described by the wireless communication network 100 and / or 1200. Figure 6 , the x-axis represents time in some arbitrary units.

[0078] In some aspects, the UE may send at least one CSI report to the network element based on the CSI report configuration. The first CSI report 602 may indicate the CMD-ID of one or more first reference signals in the plurality of reference signals that meet the first threshold. In some aspects, the second CSI report 604 may indicate the CMD-ID of one or more second reference signals in the plurality of reference signals that meet the second threshold.

[0079] The UE may use any suitable communication to send the CSI report to the network element. For example, the UE may send one or more indicators of a first reference signal that meets a first threshold and a second reference signal that meets a second threshold in a single-part payload and / or a two-part payload via a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH). In some aspects, the UE may send an indicator of a first reference signal that meets a first threshold in a first part of a two-part payload via a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH), and send an indicator of a second reference signal that meets a second threshold via a second part of the two-part payload via the PUSCH. In this case, the PUCCH may include a scheduling request for sending the second part via the PUSCH. In some aspects, the UE may send an indicator of a first reference signal that meets a first threshold and an indicator of a second reference signal that meets a second threshold in a single-part payload and / or a two-part payload via the PUCCH. For example, the UE may send an indicator of a first reference signal that meets a first threshold and an indicator of a second reference signal that meets a second threshold in a single-part payload via the PUCCH. Additionally or alternatively, the UE may send an indicator of a first reference signal satisfying a first threshold in a first part of a two-part payload via PUCCH and send an indicator of a second reference signal satisfying a second threshold in a second part of the two-part payload via PUCCH.

[0080] In some aspects, the UE may include the CMR-IDs of all reference signals that meet the threshold in the CSI report. For example, the UE may include the CMR-IDs of all reference signals that meet the second threshold or other thresholds (e.g., the third threshold, the fourth threshold, etc.) in the associated CSI report. Additionally or alternatively, the CSI report configuration may indicate to the UE the number (e.g., the maximum number) of CMR-IDs to be reported. For example, the CSI report configuration may instruct the UE to report up to 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. reference signals that meet the second threshold or other thresholds (e.g., the third threshold, the fourth threshold, etc.). If the total number of CMR-IDs that meet the second threshold or other thresholds (e.g., the third threshold, the fourth threshold, etc.) exceeds the number indicated in the CSI report configuration, the UE may select the CMR-ID to be reported based on the strongest second reference signal, the weakest second reference signal, sequentially, randomly, and / or using other suitable criteria. If the total number of CMR-IDs of the second reference signal that meet the second threshold or other thresholds (e.g., the third threshold, the fourth threshold, etc.) is less than the number indicated in the CSI reporting configuration, the UE may report reserved code points for CMR-IDs that do not meet the second threshold or other thresholds (e.g., the third threshold, the fourth threshold, etc.).

[0081] The UE may send a CSI report to the network element on a periodic basis and / or a semi-persistent basis. In this regard, the UE may receive an indicator from the network element in a CSI reporting configuration from the network element indicating a first CSI reporting periodicity 606 and / or a second CSI reporting periodicity 608, and the UE may send the CSI report with the first CSI reporting periodicity and / or the second CSI reporting periodicity. When the CSI reporting configuration indicates that the CSI report is to be sent on a semi-persistent basis, the CSI reporting configuration may include an activator for activating a specific periodicity for sending the CSI report. The UE may receive the CSI reporting configuration including the activator via a semi-persistent activation state configuration via a medium access control control element (MAC-CE), a DCI, a radio resource control (RRC) message, a MAC-CE, a PDCCH message, a PDSCH message, or other suitable communication. In some aspects, when the UE sends the first CSI report 602 and the second CSI report 604 to the network element, the UE may send the first CSI report 602 indicating the first reference signal that meets the first threshold at a first periodicity 606, and may send the second CSI report 604 indicating the second reference signal that meets the second threshold at a second periodicity 608, and the second periodicity may be the same as or different from the first periodicity 606. In some instances, the second CSI report 604 may be sent after the first CSI report 602 (e.g., within a time window after the first CSI report 602). In some aspects, the second CSI report periodicity 608 may be an integer multiple (e.g., 2 times, 4 times, 8 times, etc.) of the first CSI report periodicity 606. In some aspects, the first periodicity 606 and / or the second periodicity 608 may be based on a threshold number and / or a threshold level (e.g., an RSRP level and / or an SINR level).

[0082] A first CSI report 602 indicating a first reference signal satisfying a first threshold may be associated with a second CSI report 604 indicating a second reference signal satisfying a second threshold. For example, the first reference signal and the second reference signal may be received by the UE in the same time window (e.g., the same symbol, the same time slot, the same radio frame, etc.). In some aspects, the first CSI report 602 may be sent by the UE in the same time window (e.g., the same symbol, the same time slot, the same radio frame, etc.) as the second CSI report 604. In some aspects, the second CSI report 604 may be sent just after the first CSI report 602. The first CSI report 602 may include a CSI report setting ID of the second CSI report 604 that associates (e.g., links) the first CSI report 602 to the second CSI report 604. Additionally or alternatively, the second CSI report 604 may include a CSI report setting ID of the first CSI report 602 that associates (e.g., links) the second CSI report 604 to the first CSI report 602.

[0083] In some aspects, the UE may send the first CSI report 602 and / or the second CSI report 604 to the network element based on an aperiodic basis. In this regard, the UE may receive a request from the network element to send the first CSI report 602 and / or the second CSI report 604. The UE may receive the request to send the first CSI report 602 and / or the second CSI report 604 via an aperiodic trigger state configuration downlink control information (DCI), a DCI, a radio resource control (RRC) message, a MAC-CE, a PDCCH message, a PDSCH message, or other suitable communication. The UE may send the first CSI report 602 and / or the second CSI report 604 to the network element in response to the request (e.g., a trigger).

[0084] Figure 7 An example of a CSI reporting instance 700 according to some aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. The CSI reporting instance 700 may be implemented by aspects of the wireless communication network 100 and / or the wireless communication network 1200. For example, the CSI reporting instance 700 may be implemented for communications by one or more UEs (e.g., UE 115, UE 120, or UE 900), such as described by the wireless communication network 100 and / or 1200. Figure 7 , the x-axis represents time in some arbitrary units.

[0085] In some aspects, the UE may send a first CSI report, a second SI report, and additional CSI reports (e.g., a third, fourth, fifth, or more CSI reports) indicating additional reference signals that meet a second threshold relative to a previously sent CSI report. For example, a first CSI report (e.g., CSI reporting instance 720(0)) may indicate an absolute CMR-ID of a reference signal in a second reference signal that meets the second threshold. A second CSI report sent after the first CSI report (e.g., CSI reporting instance 720(1)) may indicate the additional reference signal as a differential CMR-ID relative to the absolute CMR-ID indicated in the first CSI report. A third CSI report sent after the second CSI report (e.g., CSI reporting instance 720(2)) may indicate the additional reference signal as a differential CMR-ID relative to the CMR-ID indicated in the second CSI report. A fourth CSI report sent after the third CSI report (e.g., CSI reporting instance 720(n)) may indicate the additional reference signal as a differential CMR-ID relative to the CMR-ID indicated in the third CSI report, and so on. The UE may receive an indicator in a CSI reporting configuration from the network element, the indicator indicating the number of CSI reports that the UE may send to the network element within a time period (e.g., a time slot, multiple time slots, a radio frame, multiple radio frames). In some aspects, the number of CSI reports that the UE may send to the network element may be based on a threshold number and / or a threshold level (e.g., an RSRP level and / or an SINR level). For example, a first CSI report may include CMR-IDs of reference signals that meet a first threshold, a second CSI report may include CMR-IDs of reference signals that meet a second threshold, a third CSI report may include CMR-IDs of reference signals that meet a third threshold, and so on.

[0086] Figure 8800 is a signaling diagram of a wireless communication method 800 according to some aspects of the present disclosure. The actions of the communication method 800 may be performed by a computing device (e.g., a processor, a processing circuit, and / or other suitable components) of a communication device or other suitable means for performing the actions. For example, a wireless communication device (such as UE 115, UE 120, or UE 900) may utilize one or more components to perform various aspects of the method 800, such as a processor 902, a memory 904, a reference signal reporting module 908, a transceiver 910, a modem 912, and one or more antennas 916. A wireless communication device (such as BS 105, CU 1210, DU 1230, RU 1240, and / or a network unit 1000) may utilize one or more components to perform various aspects of the method 800, such as a processor 1002, a memory 1004, a reference signal reporting module 1008, a transceiver 1010, a modem 1012, and one or more antennas 1016.

[0087] At action 802, the network element 105 may send a CSI reporting configuration to the UE 115. In this regard, the network element 105 may send the CSI reporting configuration to the UE 115 via an aperiodic triggered state configuration downlink control information (DCI), a DCI, a radio resource control (RRC) message, a semi-persistent active state configuration via a medium access control control element (MAC-CE), a MAC-CE, a PDCCH message, a PDSCH message, or other suitable communication.

[0088] In some aspects, the CSI reporting configuration may indicate one or more thresholds. For example, the CSI reporting configuration may indicate a first threshold, a second threshold, a third threshold, etc. associated with a reference signal (e.g., as described above in Figure 3 , Figure 4A and Figure 4B In some aspects, the CSI reporting configuration may indicate the number of CSI reports that the UE 115 should send to the network element 105 for each CSI reporting instance. The CSI reporting configuration may indicate one or more periodicities at which the network element 105 may receive CSI reports from the UE 115. The CSI reporting configuration may indicate the number of beams in the group.

[0089] At action 804, the network unit 105 may send a reference signal to the UE 115. The reference signal may include a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS), a synchronization signal block (SSB), and / or other reference signals. In some instances, the network unit may broadcast the PSS, SSS, and / or MIB in the form of a synchronization signal block (SSB) on a physical broadcast channel (PBCH). The reference signal may include a zero power channel state information reference signal (ZP-CSI-RS), a non-zero power channel state information reference signal (NZP-CSI-RS), and / or an SSB. Each reference signal may be identified by a channel measurement resource identifier (CMR-ID). The CSI-RS may be a reference signal used in the downlink direction for channel sounding purposes and may be used by the UE 115 to measure one or more characteristics of a radio channel.

[0090] At act 806, the UE 115 may perform measurements on the reference signal received at act 804. In this regard, the UE 115 may measure the RSRP level and / or SINR level of the reference signal.

[0091] At action 808, UE 115 may perform a threshold comparison on the reference signal measurement performed at action 806. The reference signal measurement result may be compared to the reference signal. Figure 3 4 to determine whether each reference signal satisfies the threshold. In some aspects, the threshold may be expressed as an absolute value and / or a relative value. For example, the threshold may be expressed as an absolute value (e.g., a dBm value). Additionally or alternatively, the threshold may be expressed as a value (e.g., a dB value) relative to other thresholds (e.g., relative to an absolute value and / or relative to another relative value).

[0092] At act 810, UE 115 may send one or more CSI reports to network element 105 based on the threshold comparison performed at act 810. In this regard, UE 115 may send one or more CSI reports to network element 105, as described with reference to Figure 6 and Figure 7 described.

For example, the reference signal reporting module 908 may be implemented as a processor, a circuit, and / or an instruction 906 stored in the memory 904 and executed by the processor 902. In some aspects, the reference signal reporting module 908 may be used to receive a channel state information (CSI) reporting configuration from a network element (e.g., BS 105, RU 1240, DU 1230, CU 1210, or network element 1000). [0097] As shown, the transceiver 910 may include a modem subsystem 912 and an RF unit 914. [0099] In some examples, the UE 900 may include multiple transceivers 910 that implement different RATs (e.g., NR and LTE). In some examples, the UE 900 may include a single transceiver 910 that implements multiple RATs (e.g., NR and LTE). In some examples, the transceiver 910 may include various components, where different combinations of these components may implement the RATs.

[0100] Fig.10 1 is a block diagram of an exemplary network unit 1000 according to some aspects of the present disclosure. The network unit 1000 may be a BS 105, a CU 1210, a DU 1230, or a RU 1240 as discussed above. These elements may be coupled to each other, for example, via one or more buses and communicate with each other directly or indirectly.

[0101] The processor 1002 may have various features as a particular type of processor. For example, these features may include a CPU, a DSP, an ASIC, a controller, an FPGA device, another hardware device, a firmware device, or any combination thereof configured to perform the operations described herein. The processor 1002 may also be implemented as a combination of computing devices, for example, a combination of a DSP and a microprocessor, a plurality of microprocessors, one or more microprocessors in conjunction with a DSP core, or any other such configuration.

[0102] Memory 1004 may include cache memory (e.g., cache memory of processor 1002), RAM, MRAM, ROM, PROM, EPROM, EEPROM, flash memory, solid-state memory devices, one or more hard disk drives, memristor-based arrays, other forms of volatile and non-volatile memory, or a combination of different types of memory. In some examples, memory 1004 may include non-transitory computer-readable media. Memory 1004 may store instructions 1006. Instructions 1006 may include instructions that, when executed by processor 1002, cause processor 1002 to perform the instructions described herein (e.g., Figures 3 to 8 Instructions 1006 may also be referred to as codes, which may be broadly interpreted to include any type of computer-readable statements.

[0103] The reference signal reporting module 1008 may be implemented via hardware, software, or a combination thereof. For example, the reference signal reporting module 1008 may be implemented as a processor, a circuit, and / or instructions 1006 stored in the memory 1004 and executed by the processor 1002 .

[0104] In some aspects, the reference signal reporting module 1008 may implement Figures 3 to 8 For example, the reference signal reporting module 1008 may send a channel state information (CSI) reporting configuration to a user equipment (UE). The reference signal reporting module 1008 may send a plurality of reference signals to the UE. The reference signal reporting module 1008 may receive at least one CSI report from the UE based on the CSI reporting configuration, the at least one CSI report indicating one or more first reference signals in the plurality of reference signals satisfying a first threshold and one or more second reference signals in the plurality of reference signals satisfying a second threshold, wherein the second threshold is different from the first threshold.

[0105] Additionally or alternatively, the reference signal reporting module 1008 may be implemented in any combination of hardware and software, and in some implementations may involve, for example, the processor 1002 , memory 1004 , instructions 1006 , transceiver 1010 , and / or modem 1012 .

[0106] As shown, the transceiver 1010 may include a modem subsystem 1012 and an RF unit 1014. The transceiver 1010 may be configured to communicate bidirectionally with other devices, such as UE 115 and / or 600. The modem subsystem 1012 may be configured to modulate and / or encode data according to an MCS (e.g., an LDPC decoding scheme, a turbo decoding scheme, a convolutional decoding scheme, a digital beamforming scheme, etc.). The RF unit 1014 may be configured to process (e.g., perform analog-to-digital conversion or digital-to-analog conversion, etc.) the modulated / encoded data from the modem subsystem 1012 (for outbound transmissions) or from another source, such as UE 115 or UE 900. The RF unit 1014 may be further configured to perform analog beamforming in conjunction with digital beamforming. Although shown as being integrated together in the transceiver 1010, the modem subsystem 1012 and / or the RF unit 1014 may be separate devices coupled together at the network unit 1000 to enable the network unit 1000 to communicate with other devices.

[0107] The RF unit 1014 may provide modulated and / or processed data, such as a data packet (or more generally, a data message that may include one or more data packets and other information), to the antenna 1016 for transmission to one or more other devices. For example, according to aspects of the present disclosure, this may include a configuration indicating a plurality of sub-slots within a time slot. The antenna 1016 may also receive data messages transmitted from other devices and provide the received data messages for processing and / or demodulation at the transceiver 1010. The antenna 1016 may include multiple antennas of similar or different designs in order to maintain multiple transmission links.

[0108] In some examples, the network unit 1000 may include multiple transceivers 1010 that implement different RATs (e.g., NR and LTE). In some examples, the network unit 1000 may include a single transceiver 1010 that implements multiple RATs (e.g., NR and LTE). In some examples, the transceiver 1010 may include various components, where different combinations of these components may implement the RATs.

[0109] Fig.111 is a flow chart of a communication method 1100 according to some aspects of the present disclosure. Various aspects of the method 1100 may be performed by a computing device (e.g., a processor, processing circuitry, and / or other suitable components) of a wireless communication device or other suitable means for performing these aspects. For example, a wireless communication device (such as UE 115, UE 120, or UE 900) may utilize one or more components to perform various aspects of the method 1100, the one or more components such as processor 902, memory 904, reference signal reporting module 908, transceiver 910, modem 912, and one or more antennas 916. The method 1100 may employ mechanisms and reference signals similar to those in networks 100 and 1200. Figures 3 to 8 As shown, method 1100 includes multiple enumerated aspects, but method 1100 may include additional aspects before, after, and between the enumerated aspects. In some aspects, one or more of these enumerated aspects may be omitted or performed in a different order.

[0110] At action 1110, method 1100 includes a UE (e.g., UE 115, UE 120, or UE 900) receiving a channel state information (CSI) report configuration from a network element (e.g., BS 105, RU 1240, DU 1230, CU 1210, and / or network element 1000). In this regard, the UE may receive the CSI report configuration from the network element via a non-periodic triggered state configuration downlink control information (DCI), DCI, a radio resource control (RRC) message, a semi-persistent activation state configuration via a medium access control control element (MAC-CE), MAC-CE, a PDCCH message, a PDSCH message, or other suitable communication.

[0111] In some aspects, the CSI reporting configuration may indicate one or more thresholds. For example, the CSI reporting configuration may indicate a first threshold, a second threshold, a third threshold, etc. associated with a reference signal (e.g., as described above in Figure 3 , Figure 4A and Figure 4B In some aspects, the CSI reporting configuration may indicate the number of CSI reports that the UE should send to the network element for each CSI reporting instance. The CSI reporting configuration may indicate one or more periodicities at which the UE may send CSI reports to the network element. The CSI reporting configuration may indicate the number of beams in the group.

[0112] At action 1120, method 1100 includes a UE (e.g., UE 115, UE 120, or UE 900) receiving a plurality of reference signals from a network element. The plurality of reference signals may include a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS), a synchronization signal block (SSB), and / or other reference signals. In some instances, the network element may broadcast the PSS, SSS, and / or MIB in the form of a synchronization signal block (SSB) on a physical broadcast channel (PBCH). The reference signal may include a zero power channel state information reference signal (ZP-CSI-RS), a non-zero power channel state information reference signal (NZP-CSI-RS), and / or an SSB. Each reference signal may be identified by a channel measurement resource identifier (CMR-ID). The CSI-RS may be a reference signal used in the downlink direction for channel sounding purposes and may be used by the UE to measure one or more characteristics of a radio channel.

[0113] At action 1130, method 1100 includes the UE sending at least one CSI report to the network element based on the CSI report configuration received in action 1110. In some aspects, the CSI report may indicate the CMD-ID of one or more first reference signals in a plurality of reference signals that meet a first threshold. In some aspects, the CSI report may indicate the CMD-ID of one or more second reference signals in a plurality of reference signals that meet a second threshold. The first threshold may be different from the second threshold. The measurement results of the reference signals may be compared with the thresholds to determine whether each reference signal meets the threshold.

[0114] The UE may use any suitable communication to send the CSI report to the network element.

[0115] In some aspects, such as reference Figure 7As described, the UE may send a first CSI report (e.g., CSI reporting instance 720(0)) including a CMR-ID associated with a second reference signal that satisfies a second threshold. In this regard, a baseline reference signal of the second reference signal that satisfies the second threshold may be reported in the first CSI report (e.g., CSI reporting instance 720(0)) as an absolute value of the CMR-ID. The UE may subsequently send a second CSI report (e.g., CSI reporting instance 720(1)) indicating one or more additional reference signals in the second reference signal that satisfies the second threshold after the first CSI report. The second CSI report may indicate the additional reference signal relative to the baseline reference signal of the second reference signal that satisfies the second threshold. For example, the second CSI report may indicate the additional reference signal as an offset (e.g., a difference) relative to the CMR-ID associated with the baseline reference signal of the second reference signal that satisfies the second threshold. In some aspects, the UE may send an additional CSI report (e.g., a third CSI report such as CSI reporting instance 720(n), a fourth, fifth, or more CSI reports) indicating one or more additional reference signals satisfying a second threshold relative to a baseline reference signal satisfying a second threshold reported in a first CSI report (e.g., CSI reporting instance 720(0)). The UE may receive an indicator in a CSI reporting configuration from the network element at action 1110, the indicator indicating a number of CSI reports that the UE may send to the network element within a time period (e.g., a time slot, multiple time slots, a radio frame, multiple radio frames).

[0116] In some aspects, the number of CSI reports that the UE may send to the network element may be based on a threshold number and / or a threshold level (e.g., an RSRP level and / or an SINR level). For example, a first CSI report may include CMR-IDs of reference signals that meet a first threshold, a second CSI report may include CMR-IDs of reference signals that meet a second threshold, a third CSI report may include CMR-IDs of reference signals that meet a third threshold, and so on.

[0117] Additionally or alternatively, as referenced Figure 7The UE may send an additional CSI report (e.g., a third, fourth, fifth, or more CSI reports) indicating an additional reference signal that satisfies a second threshold relative to a previously sent CSI report. For example, a first CSI report (e.g., CSI reporting instance 720(0)) may indicate an absolute CMR-ID of a reference signal in a second reference signal that satisfies a second threshold. A second CSI report (e.g., CSI reporting instance 720(1)) sent after the first CSI report may indicate the additional reference signal as a differential CMR-ID relative to the absolute CMR-ID indicated in the first CSI report. A third CSI report (e.g., CSI reporting instance 720(n)) sent after the second CSI report may indicate the additional reference signal as a differential CMR-ID relative to the CMR-ID indicated in the second CSI report. A fourth CSI report (e.g., CSI reporting instance 720(n)) sent after the third CSI report may indicate the additional reference signal as a differential CMR-ID relative to the CMR-ID indicated in the third CSI report, and so on. The UE may receive an indicator in a CSI reporting configuration from the network element at action 1110, the indicator indicating the number of CSI reports that the UE may send to the network element within a certain time period (e.g., one time slot, multiple time slots, one radio frame, multiple radio frames). In some aspects, the number of CSI reports that the UE may send to the network element may be based on a threshold number and / or a threshold level (e.g., an RSRP level and / or an SINR level). For example, a first CSI report may include a CMR-ID of a reference signal that meets a first threshold, a second CSI report may include a CMR-ID of a reference signal that meets a second threshold, a third CSI report may include a CMR-ID of a reference signal that meets a third threshold, and so on.

[0118] In some aspects, the UE may include the CMR-IDs of all reference signals that meet the threshold in the CSI report.

[0119] The UE may send a CSI report to the network element on a periodic basis and / or a semi-persistent basis. In this regard, the UE may receive an indicator from the network element in a CSI report configuration from the network element at action 1110 indicating the periodicity with which the UE may send the CSI report. When the CSI report configuration indicates that the CSI report is to be sent on a semi-persistent basis, the CSI report configuration may include an activator for activating a specific periodicity for sending the CSI report. The UE may receive the CSI report configuration including the activator via a semi-persistent activation state configuration via a medium access control control element (MAC-CE), a DCI, a radio resource control (RRC) message, a MAC-CE, a PDCCH message, a PDSCH message, or other suitable communication. In some aspects, when the UE sends a first CSI report and a second CSI report to the network element, the UE may send a first CSI report indicating a first reference signal that meets a first threshold at a first periodicity, and may send a second CSI report indicating a second reference signal that meets a second threshold at a second periodicity, and the second periodicity may be the same as or different from the first periodicity. In some instances, the second CSI report may be sent after the first CSI report (e.g., within a time window after the first CSI report). In some aspects, the second periodicity may be an integer multiple of the first periodicity (e.g., 2 times, 4 times, 8 times, etc.). In some aspects, the first periodicity and / or the second periodicity may be based on a threshold amount and / or a threshold level (e.g., an RSRP level and / or an SINR level).

[0120] A first CSI report indicating a first reference signal that meets a first threshold may be associated with a second CSI report indicating a second reference signal that meets a second threshold. For example, the first reference signal and the second reference signal may be received by the UE in the same time window (e.g., the same symbol, the same time slot, the same radio frame, etc.). In some aspects, the first CSI report may be sent by the UE in the same time window (e.g., the same symbol, the same time slot, the same radio frame, etc.) as the second CSI report. The first CSI report may include a CSI report setup ID of the second CSI report that associates (e.g., links) the first CSI report to the second CSI report. The second CSI report may include a CSI report setup ID of the first CSI report that associates (e.g., links) the second CSI report to the first CSI report. In some aspects, the CMR-ID of the second reference signal may be associated with the CMR-ID of the first reference signal with the strongest RSRP.

[0121] In some aspects, at action 1130, the UE may send a CSI report to the network element on an aperiodic basis. In this regard, the UE may receive a request to send the CSI report from the network element. The UE may receive the request to send the CSI report via an aperiodic trigger state configuration downlink control information (DCI), a DCI, a radio resource control (RRC) message, a MAC-CE, a PDCCH message, a PDSCH message, or other suitable communication. The UE may send the CSI report to the network element in response to the request (e.g., a trigger).

[0122] In some aspects, such as reference Figure 5The second reference signal that meets the second threshold may be associated with a reference signal group. The multiple reference signals received from the network unit at action 1120 may be associated with directional beams. The directional beams may be grouped based on their respective directions and assigned a group identifier. For example, a first group (e.g., group 510(1)) may include multiple adjacent beams, a second group (e.g., group 510(2)) may include multiple other adjacent beams, a third group (e.g., group 510(n)) may include multiple other adjacent beams, and so on. The CSI report configuration received at action 1110 may indicate the number of beams in the group. The UE may determine which groups include a preconfigured number of reference signals that meet a second threshold or other thresholds (e.g., a third threshold, a fourth threshold, etc.) within the group. In some instances, each of the thresholds (e.g., the second threshold, the third threshold, the fourth threshold, etc.) may be associated with a different RSRP and / or SINR level. If the number of reference signals in the group that meet the second threshold or other thresholds (e.g., the third threshold, the fourth threshold, etc.) reaches or exceeds the preconfigured number, then at action 1130, the UE may indicate the group identifier in the CSI report. The CSI report configuration received at action 1110 may indicate the number of reference signals in the group that need to meet the second threshold or other thresholds (e.g., the third threshold, the fourth threshold, etc.). The number of reference signals in the group that need to meet the second threshold or other thresholds (e.g., the third threshold, the fourth threshold, etc.) may be preconfigured and / or dynamically configured. The CSI report may explicitly indicate the group ID that reaches the number of reference signals that meet the second threshold or other thresholds (e.g., the third threshold, the fourth threshold, etc.). Additionally or alternatively, the CSI report may include a bitmap in which each bit corresponds to a group ID (e.g., groups 510(1), 510(2), 510(n)), and the group ID indicates whether the group reaches the preconfigured number of reference signals that meet the second threshold or other thresholds (e.g., the third threshold, the fourth threshold, etc.). If no group reaches the number of reference signals that meets the second threshold or other thresholds (eg, third threshold, fourth threshold, etc.), the bitmap may indicate all zeros (eg, "0").

[0123] In some aspects, the CSI report sent at act 1130 may indicate a first reference signal among the multiple reference signals that satisfies a first threshold. In this regard, satisfying the first threshold may include an RSRP of the first reference signal being greater than (or greater than or equal to) the first threshold and / or an SINR of the first reference signal being greater than (or greater than or equal to) the first threshold.

[0124] In some aspects, the CSI report sent at action 1130 may indicate a second reference signal that satisfies a second threshold among the multiple reference signals. In this regard, satisfying the second threshold may include an RSRP of the second reference signal being greater than (or greater than or equal to) the second threshold and less than (or less than or equal to) the first threshold. Additionally or alternatively, satisfying the second threshold may include an SINR of the second reference signal being greater than (or greater than or equal to) the second threshold and less than (or less than or equal to) the first threshold. In some aspects, the CSI report sent at action 1130 may indicate an additional reference signal that satisfies a third threshold, a fourth threshold, and / or other thresholds.

[0125] In some aspects, such as reference Figure 3 , Figure 4A and Figure 4B The first threshold (e.g., threshold 312(1)) may be based on a first offset (e.g., offset 414(1)) relative to a measurement result associated with one of the first reference signals that satisfies the first threshold (e.g., SSB 310(4)). For example, the measurement result associated with the reference signal in the first reference signals that satisfies the first threshold (e.g., SSB 310(4)) may include a lowest RSRP measurement result (e.g., the weakest RSRP) associated with the first reference signal (e.g., the set of first reference signals SSB 310(4) and SSB 310(5)) that is the strongest of the first reference signals that are greater than the first threshold (e.g., threshold 312(1)). The CSI report configuration may indicate the number of reference signals in the first reference signal set (e.g., two reference signals). The CSI report may include a CMR-ID of the first reference signal set that is the strongest of the first reference signals that are greater than the first threshold. The first threshold may be determined relative to the strength of the weakest reference signal in the first reference signal set (e.g., SSB 310(4)) that is the strongest of the first reference signals. For example, the first threshold may be set based on being several decibels lower (e.g., -10 dB lower, -20 dB lower, etc.) than the strength of the weakest reference signal in the first reference signal set that is the strongest of the first reference signals. The second threshold (e.g., threshold 312(2)) may be set based on being several decibels lower (e.g., -10 dB lower, -20 dB lower, etc.) than the first threshold. In some aspects, the third threshold (e.g., threshold 312(k-1)) may be set based on being several decibels lower (e.g., -10 dB lower, -20 dB lower, etc.) than the second threshold. In some aspects, the fourth threshold, fifth threshold, etc. may be set in a similar relative manner.

[0126] In some aspects, the UE may report CMR-IDs of reference signals that meet a threshold (e.g., a first threshold, a second threshold, a third threshold, a fourth threshold, etc.) to the network element, thereby enabling the network element to predict blocking associated with certain beams.

[0127] Fig.12 1201 according to some aspects of the present disclosure. Various aspects of the method 1201 may be performed by a computing device (e.g., a processor, a processing circuit, and / or other suitable components) of a wireless communication device or other suitable means for performing these aspects. For example, a wireless communication device (such as BS 105, RU 1240, DU 1230, CU 1210, and / or network unit 1000) may utilize one or more components to perform various aspects of the method 1201, the one or more components such as a processor 1002, a memory 1004, a reference signal reporting module 1008, a transceiver 1010, a modem 1012, and one or more antennas 1016. The method 1201 may employ mechanisms and reference signals similar to those in networks 100 and 1200. Figures 3 to 8 As shown, method 1201 includes multiple enumerated aspects, but method 1201 may include additional aspects before, after, and between the enumerated aspects. In some aspects, one or more of these enumerated aspects may be omitted or performed in a different order.

[0128] At action 1212, the method 1201 includes a network element (e.g., BS 105, RU 1240, DU 1230, CU 1210, and / or network element 1000) sending a channel state information (CSI) report configuration to a UE (e.g., UE 115, UE 120, or UE 900). In this regard, the network element may send the CSI report configuration to the UE via a non-periodic triggered state configuration downlink control information (DCI), DCI, a radio resource control (RRC) message, a semi-persistent activation state configuration via a medium access control control element (MAC-CE), MAC-CE, a PDCCH message, a PDSCH message, or other suitable communication.

[0129] In some aspects, the CSI reporting configuration may indicate one or more thresholds. The CSI reporting configuration may indicate one or more periodicities at which the network element may receive CSI reports from the UE. The CSI reporting configuration may indicate the number of beams in the group.

[0130] At action 1221, method 1201 includes a network unit sending multiple reference signals to the UE. The multiple reference signals may include a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS), a synchronization signal block (SSB), and / or other reference signals. In some instances, the network unit may broadcast PSS, SSS, and / or MIB in the form of a synchronization signal block (SSB) on a physical broadcast channel (PBCH). The reference signal may include a zero power channel state information reference signal (ZP-CSI-RS), a non-zero power channel state information reference signal (NZP-CSI-RS), and / or an SSB. Each reference signal may be identified by a channel measurement resource identifier (CMR-ID). CSI-RS may be a reference signal used in the downlink direction for channel sounding purposes and may be used by the UE to measure one or more characteristics of a radio channel.

[0131] At action 1231, method 1201 includes a network unit receiving at least one CSI from a UE based on the CSI report configuration sent at action 1212.

[0132] The network unit may use any suitable communication to receive the CSI report from the UE. For example, the network unit may receive one or more indicators of a first reference signal that meets a first threshold and a second reference signal that meets a second threshold in a single-part payload and / or a two-part payload via a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH). In some aspects, the network unit may receive an indicator of a first reference signal that meets a first threshold in a first part of a two-part payload via a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH), and receive an indicator of a second reference signal that meets a second threshold via a second part of the two-part payload via the PUSCH. In this case, the PUCCH may include a scheduling request for sending the second part via the PUSCH. In some aspects, the network unit may receive an indicator of a first reference signal that meets a first threshold and an indicator of a second reference signal that meets a second threshold in a single-part payload and / or a two-part payload via the PUCCH. For example, the network unit may receive an indicator of a first reference signal that meets a first threshold and an indicator of a second reference signal that meets a second threshold in a single-part payload via the PUCCH. Additionally or alternatively, the network element may receive an indicator of a first reference signal satisfying a first threshold in a first portion of the two-part payload via PUCCH and an indicator of a second reference signal satisfying a second threshold in a second portion of the two-part payload via PUCCH.

[0133] In some aspects, such as reference Figure 7As described, the network unit may receive a first CSI report (e.g., CSI report instance 720(0)) including a CMR-ID associated with a second reference signal that satisfies a second threshold. In this regard, a baseline reference signal of the second reference signal that satisfies the second threshold may be reported in the first CSI report (e.g., CSI report instance 720(0)) as an absolute value of the CMR-ID. The network unit may subsequently receive a second CSI report (e.g., CSI report instance 720(1)) after the first CSI report indicating one or more additional reference signals in the second reference signal that satisfies the second threshold. The second CSI report may indicate the additional reference signals relative to the baseline reference signal of the second reference signal that satisfies the second threshold. For example, the second CSI report may indicate the additional reference signals as an offset (e.g., a difference) relative to the CMR-ID associated with the baseline reference signal of the second reference signal that satisfies the second threshold. In some aspects, the network element may receive an additional CSI report (e.g., a third CSI report such as CSI reporting instance 720(n), a fourth, fifth, or more CSI reports) indicating one or more additional reference signals satisfying a second threshold relative to a baseline reference signal satisfying a second threshold reported in a first CSI report (e.g., CSI reporting instance 720(0)). The network element may send an indicator in a CSI reporting configuration to the UE at action 1212, the indicator indicating a number of CSI reports that the UE may send to the network element within a time period (e.g., a timeslot, multiple timeslots, a radio frame, multiple radio frames).

[0134] In some aspects, the number of CSI reports that the network element may receive from the UE may be based on a threshold number and / or a threshold level (e.g., an RSRP level and / or an SINR level). For example, a first CSI report may include CMR-IDs of reference signals that meet a first threshold, a second CSI report may include CMR-IDs of reference signals that meet a second threshold, a third CSI report may include CMR-IDs of reference signals that meet a third threshold, and so on.

[0135] Additionally or alternatively, as referenced Figure 7The network element may receive an additional CSI report (e.g., a third, fourth, fifth, or more CSI report) indicating an additional reference signal that satisfies a second threshold relative to a previously sent CSI report. For example, a first CSI report (e.g., CSI report instance 720(0)) may indicate an absolute CMR-ID of a reference signal in a second reference signal that satisfies a second threshold. A second CSI report (e.g., CSI report instance 720(1)) received after the first CSI report may indicate the additional reference signal as a differential CMR-ID relative to the absolute CMR-ID indicated in the first CSI report. A third CSI report (e.g., CSI report instance 720(n)) received after the second CSI report may indicate the additional reference signal as a differential CMR-ID relative to the CMR-ID indicated in the second CSI report. A fourth CSI report (e.g., CSI report instance 720(n)) received after the third CSI report may indicate the additional reference signal as a differential CMR-ID relative to the CMR-ID indicated in the third CSI report, and so on. The network element may send an indicator in a CSI reporting configuration to the UE at action 1212, the indicator indicating the number of CSI reports that the UE may send to the network element within a certain time period (e.g., one time slot, multiple time slots, one radio frame, multiple radio frames).

[0136] In some aspects, the UE may include the CMR-IDs of all reference signals that meet the threshold in the CSI report.

[0137] The network unit may receive a CSI report from the UE on a periodic basis and / or a semi-persistent basis. In this regard, the network unit may send an indicator to the UE in a CSI report configuration at action 1212 indicating the periodicity with which the UE may send the CSI report. When the CSI report configuration indicates that the CSI report is to be sent on a semi-persistent basis, the CSI report configuration may include an activator for activating a specific periodicity for sending the CSI report. The network unit may send the CSI report configuration including the activator via a semi-persistent activation state configuration via a medium access control control element (MAC-CE), a DCI, a radio resource control (RRC) message, a MAC-CE, a PDCCH message, a PDSCH message, or other suitable communication. In some aspects, when the network unit may receive a first CSI report and a second CSI report from the UE, the network unit may receive a first CSI report indicating a first reference signal that satisfies a first threshold at a first periodicity, and may receive a second CSI report indicating a second reference signal that satisfies a second threshold at a second periodicity, and the second periodicity may be the same as or different from the first periodicity. In some instances, the second CSI report may be received after the first CSI report (e.g., within a time window after the first CSI report).

[0138] A first CSI report indicating a first reference signal that meets a first threshold may be associated with a second CSI report indicating a second reference signal that meets a second threshold. For example, the first reference signal and the second reference signal may be sent by a network element in the same time window (e.g., the same symbol, the same time slot, the same radio frame, etc.). In some aspects, the first CSI report may be received by the network in the same time window (e.g., the same symbol, the same time slot, the same radio frame, etc.) as the second CSI report.

[0139] In some aspects, at action 1231, the network element may receive a CSI report from the UE on an aperiodic basis. In this regard, the network element may send a request to the UE to send the CSI report. The network element may send the request to send the CSI report via an aperiodic trigger state configuration downlink control information (DCI), a DCI, a radio resource control (RRC) message, a MAC-CE, a PDCCH message, a PDSCH message, or other suitable communication. The network element may receive the CSI report from the UE in response to the request (e.g., a trigger).

[0140] In some aspects, such as reference Figure 5The second reference signal that meets the second threshold may be associated with a reference signal group. The multiple reference signals sent by the network unit at action 1221 may be associated with directional beams. The CSI report configuration sent at action 1212 may indicate the number of beams in the group. If the number of reference signals in the group that meet the second threshold or other thresholds (e.g., the third threshold, the fourth threshold, etc.) reaches or exceeds the preconfigured number, then at action 1231, the UE may indicate the group identifier in the CSI report. The CSI report configuration sent at action 1212 may indicate the number of reference signals in the group that need to meet the second threshold or other thresholds (e.g., the third threshold, the fourth threshold, etc.).

[0141] In some aspects, the CSI report received at action 1231 may indicate a first reference signal among the multiple reference signals that satisfies a first threshold. In this regard, satisfying the first threshold may include an RSRP of the first reference signal being greater than (or greater than or equal to) the first threshold and / or an SINR of the first reference signal being greater than (or greater than or equal to) the first threshold.

[0142] In some aspects, the CSI report received at action 1231 may indicate a second reference signal among the multiple reference signals that satisfies a second threshold. In some aspects, the CSI report received at action 1231 may indicate an additional reference signal that satisfies a third threshold, a fourth threshold, and / or other thresholds.

[0143] In some aspects, such as reference Figure 3 , Figure 4A and Figure 4B The first threshold (e.g., threshold 312(1)) may be based on a first offset (e.g., offset 414(1)) relative to a measurement result associated with one of the first reference signals that satisfies the first threshold (e.g., SSB 310(4)).

[0144] In some aspects, the UE may report CMR-IDs of reference signals that meet a threshold (e.g., a first threshold, a second threshold, a third threshold, a fourth threshold, etc.) to the network element, thereby enabling the network element to predict blocking associated with certain beams.
