The wireless communication system may include a fifth generation (5G) system, a new radio (NR) system, a long term evolution (LTE) system, a combination thereof, or some other wireless system. In addition, the wireless communication system may support a wide range of use cases, such as enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), massive machine type communications (mMTC), ultra-reliable and low latency communications (URLLC), and enhanced vehicle-to-everything communications (eV2X). There are challenges in various technologies such as NR wireless systems. Summary of the invention
[0005] Some aspects of the present disclosure relate to apparatus and methods for implementing a technique for selecting a sounding reference signal (SRS) based antenna beam pair for a user equipment (UE) or a network node to support multi-panel simultaneous uplink transmission (STxMP) by the UE. One or more antenna beam pairs of a UE having a first antenna panel and a second antenna panel may be used to simultaneously transmit SRS to a first transmission reception point (TRP) and a second TRP using SRS resources configured by one or more SRS configuration sets from the network node. However, an SRS spatial filter of an SRS resource indicating a direction of an antenna beam for transmitting the SRS may be configured by the UE, while some or remaining components of the SRS resource may be configured by one or more SRS configuration sets received from the network node. The network node may select an antenna beam pair for further data transmission between the UE and two TRPs, wherein the selected antenna beam pair is selected from the one or more antenna beam pairs based on an indication of a measured signal strength of the SRS transmitted by the one or more antenna beam pairs. The implemented technology can be applicable to many wireless systems, such as wireless communication systems based on 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Release 15 (Rel-15), Release 16 (Rel-16), Release 17 (Rel-17), Release 18 (Rel-18), etc.
[0006] Some aspects of the present disclosure relate to a UE. The UE may include a transceiver and a processor communicatively coupled to the transceiver. The transceiver may be coupled to a first antenna panel and a second antenna panel, which are configured to implement wireless communications with two TRPs and a network node in a wireless communication system. The processor may receive one or more SRS configuration sets from the network node, wherein the one or more SRS configuration sets include configurations of SRS resources for one or more antenna beam pairs. The antenna beam pair may include a first beam of a first antenna panel of the UE and a second beam of a second antenna panel.
[0007] In some embodiments, the processor may select the direction of an antenna beam in one or more antenna beam pairs of the UE. The configuration for the SRS resource may include a first SRS resource and a second SRS resource for the first beam and the second beam, respectively. The processor may configure a first SRS spatial filter for the first SRS resource to determine a first direction of the first beam, and configure a second SRS spatial filter for the second SRS resource to determine a second direction of the second beam.
[0008] In some embodiments, one or more SRS configuration sets may include one or more parameters including an SRS-ResourceSet, and the SRS spatial filter may be associated with the parameter spatialRelationInfo included in the SRS-ResourceSet. In some embodiments, the UE may receive an SRS-ResourceSet with a parameter spatialRelationInfo that is not configured by the network node, and the UE may determine the beam direction of its SRS transmission by selecting a spatial filter for the parameter spatialRelationInfo. In some other embodiments, the UE may change the parameter spatialRelationInfo from a first value to a second value to configure the SRS spatial filter. In some embodiments, a first SRS spatial filter for a first SRS resource or a second SRS spatial filter for a second SRS resource may be associated with a parameter included in one or more SRS configuration sets. The UE may add a parameter or change a parameter from a first value to a second value to configure a first SRS spatial filter. In some embodiments, SRS resources for one or more antenna beam pairs may be included in an SRS configuration set determined by a network node.
[0009] In some embodiments, the processor may determine a first SRS resource for a first beam from a first set of SRS resources configured by an SRS configuration set received from a network node, and determine a second SRS resource for a second beam from a second set of SRS resources configured by the same SRS configuration set, wherein the first set of SRS resources is different from the second set of SRS resources. In some embodiments, the processor may determine a first SRS resource for a first beam configured by a first SRS configuration set received from a network node, and determine a second SRS resource for a second beam configured by a second SRS configuration set received from a network node, wherein the first SRS configuration set is different from the second SRS configuration set. In addition, the first SRS configuration set and the second SRS configuration set may be configured for the same uplink transmission purpose.
[0010] In some embodiments, the processor may simultaneously transmit a first SRS to a first TRP using a first beam in a first direction through a first SRS resource, and transmit a second SRS to a second TRP using a second beam in a second direction through a second SRS resource. In addition, the processor may transmit SRS to the first TRP and the second TRP respectively through one or more antenna beam pairs.
[0011] In some embodiments, the processor may receive an indication of a selected antenna beam pair from a network node, wherein the selected antenna beam pair may be selected by the network node based on a measured signal strength represented by a reference signal received power (RSRP) or a signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) of an SRS transmitted by one or more antenna beam pairs. Thereafter, the processor may transmit data to the first TRP and the second TRP simultaneously via a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) using the selected antenna beam pair.
[0012] In some embodiments, the processor may determine an updated antenna beam pair to replace the selected antenna beam pair for transmitting data to the first TRP and the second TRP simultaneously via the PUSCH by the updated antenna beam pair. In some embodiments, the processor may receive a message from a network node to instruct the UE to determine an updated antenna beam pair, wherein the message is received after a timer maintained by the network node expires. In some embodiments, the processor may initiate a beam pair update process by sending an update message to the network node, wherein the update message includes uplink control information (UCI) or a medium access control (MAC) control element (MAC-CE) message.
[0013] Some aspects of the present disclosure relate to a network node. The network node may include a transceiver and a processor communicatively coupled to the transceiver. The transceiver may be configured to implement wireless communication with two TRPs and a UE in a wireless communication system, wherein the UE has a transceiver coupled to a first antenna panel and a second antenna panel. The processor may generate a plurality of SRS configuration sets, the plurality of SRS configuration sets including configurations of SRS resources for one or more antenna beam pairs, wherein the antenna beam pair includes a first beam of a first antenna panel and a second beam of a second antenna panel of the UE. The configuration of SRS resources for one or more antenna beam pairs may include a first configuration of a first SRS resource for a first beam without configuring a first SRS spatial filter for a first SRS resource indicating a first direction of the first beam, and a second configuration of a second SRS resource for a second beam without configuring a second SRS spatial filter for a second SRS resource indicating a second direction of the second beam.
[0014] In some embodiments, the processor may transmit multiple SRS configuration sets to the UE, and receive an indication of the measured signal strength of the SRS transmitted by one or more antenna beam pairs received by the first TRP and the second TRP. The indication of the measured signal strength of the SRS may include a first signal strength indication for the first SRS received by the first TRP transmitted through the first SRS resource using the first beam in the first direction determined by the first SRS spatial filter configured by the UE, and a second signal strength indication for the second SRS received by the second TRP transmitted through the second SRS resource using the second beam in the second direction determined by the second SRS spatial filter configured by the UE. The first SRS and the second SRS are transmitted simultaneously to the first TRP and the second TRP, respectively.
[0015] In some embodiments, the processor may select an antenna beam pair from among the one or more antenna beam pairs based on an indication of measured SRS signal strength, where the first signal strength indication or the second signal strength indication may be represented by RSRP or SINR.
[0016] In some embodiments, to determine the selected antenna beam pair, the processor may determine whether the first signal strength indication or the second signal strength indication is greater than a first predetermined threshold of the measured signal strength, determine whether the difference between the first signal strength indication and the second signal strength indication is less than a second predetermined threshold, and further determine the selected antenna beam pair from one or more antenna beam pairs based on the ordering of the indications of the measured signal strength of the SRS for the one or more antenna beam pairs.
[0017] In some embodiments, the processor may determine an updated antenna beam pair to replace the selected antenna beam pair for transmitting data to the first TRP and the second TRP simultaneously via the PUSCH by the updated antenna beam pair.

[0025] In wireless systems, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) transmission is an important technology. A user equipment (UE) or a base station may include an antenna array or system having multiple antenna panels coupled to an antenna port, wherein the antenna panel may include an array of antenna elements that may be located in physical locations close to each other. In some examples, the antenna may be a smart antenna system in which all antenna elements are considered to be pseudo-omnidirectional antenna elements or quasi-sector omnidirectional antenna elements including phase shifters. Antenna beams (such as transmission (Tx) beams or reception (Rx) beams) may be directional beams formed by adjusting phase shifters of multiple antenna elements. For the description herein, antenna beams may also be referred to as beams.
[0026] In some embodiments, at one time, among multiple antenna panels, the UE may activate only one antenna panel and use it for uplink transmission. In order to improve reliability and robustness, uplink multi-panel transmission enhancements for multi-beam operation may be developed. In some embodiments, multiple antenna panels on the UE may be activated at the same time and used for simultaneous transmission to multiple transmission reception points (TRPs) or base stations, resulting in multi-panel simultaneous transmission (STxMP). In some embodiments, in order to enable simultaneous transmission by multiple panels in the uplink, the UE may select a beam from each antenna panel. For a UE having two antenna panels to perform simultaneous transmission to two different TRPs, two beams selected from the two panels to communicate with two TRPs or base stations for simultaneous transmission may form an antenna beam pair. The UE may have multiple antenna beam pairs that can be used to perform STxMP, so a mechanism may be used to select an antenna beam pair from one or more antenna beam pairs that can be used to improve performance.
[0027] Embodiments herein may present techniques for beam pair selection by a UE from one or more available antenna beam pairs based on a sounding reference signal (SRS) for STxMP. SRS may be transmitted by a UE on an uplink to allow the network to estimate the quality of a channel. SRS resources may occupy specific locations in a resource grid in the time and frequency domains to transmit SRS. A UE may be configured with one or more SRS resources via a higher layer parameter SRS-ResourceSet, which may be included in a radio resource control (RRC) message. Tx beams for uplink channels such as SRS, physical uplink control channel (PUCCH), and physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) may be indicated by a SpatialRelationInfo parameter or a parameter associated with an SRS spatial filter for the UE.
[0028] The embodiments herein present techniques for a UE to report uplink beam pairs for STxMP from the UE. One or more antenna beam pairs of a UE having a first antenna panel and a second antenna panel may be used to transmit SRS to a first TRP and a second TRP simultaneously using SRS resources configured by one or more SRS configuration sets from a network node. However, the UE configures an SRS spatial filter for the SRS resources to determine the direction of the antenna beam for transmitting the corresponding SRS, while some or remaining components of the SRS resources are configured by one or more SRS configuration sets received from the network node. The network node may select an antenna beam pair for further data transmission between the UE and the two TRPs, wherein the selected antenna beam pair is selected from the one or more antenna beam pairs based on an indication of a measured signal strength of the SRS transmitted by the one or more antenna beam pairs.
[0029] Figure 1 An exemplary wireless system 100 that supports sounding reference signal (SRS) based beam pair selection for STxMP according to some aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. The wireless system 100 is provided for illustration purposes only and is not intended to limit the disclosed aspects. Figure 1 As shown, system 100 may include, but is not limited to, network node 101, TRP 103, TRP 105, all of which communicate with UE 102. System 100 may also include additional components not shown.
[0030] In some examples, the wireless system 100 may be an NR system, an LTE system, a 5G system, or some other wireless system. In addition, the wireless system 100 may support a wide range of use cases, such as enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), massive machine type communications (mMTC), ultra-reliable and low latency communications (URLLC), and enhanced vehicle-to-everything communications (eV2X).
[0031] According to some aspects, the network node 101, TRP 103 or TRP 105 may be operated together as a network node controlled by the network node 101 and configured to operate based on various wireless communication technologies (such as but not limited to technologies based on the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) standard). For example, the network node 101, TRP 103 or TRP 105 may be operated together as a node configured to operate using Rel-16, Rel-17 or others. The network node 101, TRP 103 or TRP 105 may be a fixed station in combination or individually, and may also be referred to as a base transceiver system (BTS), an access point (AP), an evolved Node B (eNB), a next generation Node B (gNB), or some other equivalent term. The system 100 may operate using a licensed cellular spectrum (referred to as in-band communication) and an unlicensed spectrum (referred to as out-of-band communication).
[0032] According to some aspects, network node 101, TRP 103 or TRP 105 can provide wireless coverage of cells of various sizes (such as macro cells, pico cells, femto cells, and / or another type of cell). In contrast, macro cells can cover relatively large geographic areas, for example, several thousand meters in radius, femto cells can cover relatively small geographic areas, for example, homes, and pico cells cover areas that are smaller than the areas covered by macro cells but larger than the areas covered by femto cells. For example, network node 101 can cover macro cells, while TRP 103 and TRP 105 can cover pico cells or femto cells. In addition, network node 101 can cover pico cells, while TRP 103 and TRP 105 can cover femto cells. In some examples, the geographic area of a cell can move according to the location of a mobile base station. In some embodiments, network node 101 can be implemented as part of a core network instead of a base station. In some embodiments, network node 101, TRP 103, and TRP 105 may implement techniques for carrier aggregation, wherein TRP 103 and TRP 105 may operate on different component carriers, such as a first component carrier (CC) and a second component carrier. In some embodiments, the first CC may be within a first frequency range (FR1) and the second CC may be within a second frequency range (FR2). In some other embodiments, the first CC and the second CC may be within the same frequency range. In some embodiments, TRP 103 and TRP 105 may be coupled to network node 101 via a wireless communication link or via any backhaul connection.
[0033] According to some aspects, UE 102 may be configured to operate based on a wide variety of wireless communication technologies. These technologies may include, but are not limited to, technologies based on 3GPP standards. For example, UE 102 may be configured to operate using Rel-16, Rel-17, or higher. UE 102 may include, but is not limited to, wireless communication devices, smart phones, laptops, desktop computers, tablet computers, personal assistants, monitors, televisions, wearable devices, Internet of Things (IoT), communication devices of vehicles, mobile stations, user stations, remote terminals, wireless terminals, user equipment, etc.
[0034] According to some aspects, UE 102 may include an antenna array or system having multiple antenna panels (such as antenna panel 120 and antenna panel 125). Generally speaking, an antenna system may include one or more antenna panels. The antenna panel may include an array of antenna elements that may be located in physical locations close to each other. The antenna element may be an omnidirectional antenna element, a quasi-omnidirectional antenna element, a directional antenna element, or any other antenna element. In some examples, the antenna panel may be a smart antenna system in which all antenna elements are considered to be pseudo-omnidirectional antenna elements or quasi-sector omnidirectional antenna elements and include phase shifters. Directional beams (such as transmission (Tx) beams or reception (Rx) beams) may be formed by adjusting the phase shifters of multiple antenna elements. For example, antenna panel 120 may provide beams 121 and beams 123, and antenna panel 125 may provide beams 127 and beams 129. In some examples, there may be more or fewer antenna panels, and the antenna panels may include 2, 4, 8, 16, or another number of antenna elements, which may include dipole antenna elements, monopole antenna elements, patch antenna elements, loop antenna elements, microstrip antenna elements, or any other type of antenna element suitable for transmission of RF signals.
[0035] According to some aspects, UE 102 may include a transceiver 133 coupled to antenna panel 120 and antenna panel 125, a processor 131, and a memory 132 communicatively coupled to transceiver 133. Transceiver 133 may implement wireless communications with network node 101, TRP 103, and TRP 105 using an antenna beam pair formed by antenna panel 120 and antenna panel 125. For example, UE 102 may communicate with TRP 103 and TRP 105 using an antenna beam pair including a first beam of first antenna panel 120 and a second beam of second antenna panel 125, such as antenna beam pairs (beam 121, beam 127), (beam 121, beam 129), (beam 123, beam 127), or (beam 123, beam 129).
[0036] In some embodiments, the processor 131 may receive one or more SRS configuration sets, such as the SRS configuration set 141, the SRS configuration set 151, or both, from the network node 101. The SRS configuration set 141 includes configurations of SRS resources for one or more antenna beam pairs, such as configurations for SRS resources 142 (which may be referred to as SRS resource configuration 142, which may be used for a first beam such as beam 121), and configurations for SRS resources 146 (which may be referred to as SRS resource configuration 146, which may be used for a second beam such as beam 127). When the SRS configuration set 141 is generated by the network node 101, the SRS configuration 142 may include a parameter SRS-SpatialRelationInfo. If SRS-SpatialRelationInfo is configured, the UE 102 will use the corresponding spatial filter configured by the SRS-SpatialRelationInfo. If SRS-SpatialRelationInfo is not configured, the UE 102 will select the spatial filter by itself. In some embodiments, when the source configuration 142 does not include the IE spatialRelationInfo, spatialRelationInfo is not configured. In some embodiments, the SRS resource configuration 142 may include a (blank) SRS spatial filter 147a that is not configured by the network node 101. For example, the SRS spatial filter 147a has unassigned parameters without assigned values, or is assigned a placeholder value that is intended to be changed by the UE. Similarly, the SRS resource configuration 146 may include an SRS spatial filter 149a that is not configured by the network node 101, for example, with unassigned parameters as discussed above. The UE 102 may select a first direction for the antenna beam 121, and further configure the SRS spatial filter 147a received from the network node 101 to become an SRS spatial filter 147b to achieve the first direction for the beam 121. Configuring SRS spatial filter 147b may be performed by assigning a value to an unassigned parameter of SRS spatial filter 147a to have a new value different from the value of SRS spatial filter 147a. Similarly, UE 102 may select a second direction for antenna beam 127, and further configure SRS spatial filter 149a received from network node 101 to become SRS spatial filter 149b having a value different from the value of SRS spatial filter 149a to achieve the second direction for beam 127.
[0037] In some embodiments, one or more SRS configuration sets, such as SRS configuration set 141 or SRS configuration set 151, may be indicated by one or more parameters including SRS-ResourceSet. In some embodiments, SRS-ResourceSet may be a record including various components, such as "SRS-Resources", "SRS resource set identifier", "SRS resourceType", and more. For example, "SRS-Resources" may be configured or set to BeamManagement, semi-static, semi-persistent, non-periodic, or periodic via a higher layer parameter SRS called "Resourcetype". Thus, SRS spatial filters, such as SRS spatial filter 147a, SRS spatial filter 149a, SRS spatial filter 147b, or SRS spatial filter 149b, may be indicated by a parameter spatialRelationInfo included in the SRS-ResourceSet and configured by the UE. When the SRS configuration set 141 is generated by the network node 101 and represented by the parameter SRS-ResourceSet (which is a record including a field spatialRelationInfo representing an SRS spatial filter), the spatialRelationInfo may not have an assigned value when it is generated. The UE 102 may receive the SRS configuration set 141 and further assign a value to the spatialRelationInfo to configure the spatialRelationInfo and indicate the direction of the beam 121.
[0038] In some embodiments, the SRS spatial filter for the first SRS resource (such as the SRS spatial filter 147a) or the SRS spatial filter for the second SRS resource (such as the SRS spatial filter 149a) may be a parameter included in one or more SRS configuration sets (such as the SRS configuration set 141). In some embodiments, the SRS spatial filter for the first SRS resource (such as the SRS spatial filter 147a) or the SRS spatial filter for the second SRS resource (such as the SRS spatial filter 149a) may be configured only by the UE 102. In some embodiments, the SRS spatial filter 147a or the SRS spatial filter 149a may have a placeholder value assigned by the network node 101, which may be overwritten by the UE 102. In some embodiments, if UE 102 overwrites the value of SRS spatial filter 147a or SRS spatial filter 149a configured by network node 101, the UE reconfigures SRS spatial filter 147a to SRS spatial filter 147b and / or reconfigures SRS spatial filter 149a to SRS spatial filter 149b.
[0039] In some embodiments, UE 102 may receive only one SRS configuration set, such as SRS configuration set 151. In some embodiments, SRS configuration set 151 may include multiple SRS resource pairs for multiple beam pairs of UE 101. For example, SRS configuration set 151 may include SRS resource pair 153, which includes SRS resources configured by SRS resource configuration 152 for a first beam, such as beam 121, and SRS resources configured by SRS resource configuration 154 for a second beam, such as beam 127. In addition, SRS configuration set 151 may include SRS resource pair 155, which includes SRS resources configured by SRS resource configuration 156 for a first beam, such as beam 121, and SRS resources configured by SRS resource configuration 158 for a second beam, such as beam 129.
[0040] In some embodiments, the UE 102 may receive only one SRS configuration set, such as the SRS configuration set 141. The SRS resources configured by the SRS configuration set 141 may be divided into two groups, such as group 143 and group 145. Group 143 may include SRS resources configured by the SRS resource configuration 142 and SRS resources configured by the SRS resource configuration 144. And group 145 may include SRS resources configured by the SRS resource configuration 146 and SRS resources configured by the SRS resource configuration 148. For a beam pair (beam 121, beam 127), the processor 131 may select a first SRS resource for a first beam (e.g., beam 121) from the SRS resource group 143 configured by the SRS configuration set 141 received from the network node 101, and select a second SRS resource for a second beam (e.g., beam 127) from the SRS resource group 145 configured by the same SRS configuration set 141, wherein the first group of SRS resources is different from the second group of SRS resources.
[0041] In some embodiments, processor 131 may select a first SRS resource (e.g., an SRS resource configured by SRS resource configuration 142) for a first beam (e.g., beam 121) configured by SRS configuration set 141, and select a second SRS resource (e.g., an SRS resource configured by SRS resource configuration 152) for a second beam (e.g., beam 129) configured by an SRS configuration set 151 different from SRS configuration set 141. In some embodiments, SRS configuration set 141 and SRS configuration set 151 may be configured for the same uplink transmission purpose, such as being configured to have the same parameter values, such as "beamManagement", "codebook", or "nonCodebook" for SRS-ResourceSet.
[0042] In some embodiments, for a beam pair (beam 121, beam 127), processor 131 may simultaneously transmit SRS 111a to TRP 103 using beam 121 in a first direction by a first SRS resource (e.g., an SRS resource configured by SRS resource configuration 142), and transmit SRS 113a to TRP 105 using beam 127 in a second direction by a second SRS resource (e.g., an SRS resource configured by SRS resource configuration 146). Similarly, for the beam pair (beam 123, beam 129), the processor 131 can simultaneously transmit SRS111b to TRP 103 using beam 123 in a first direction by a first SRS resource (e.g., an SRS resource configured by SRS resource configuration 152 or an SRS resource configured by SRS resource configuration 144), and transmit SRS113b to TRP 105 using beam 129 in a second direction by a second SRS resource (e.g., an SRS resource configured by SRS resource configuration 154 or an SRS resource configured by SRS resource configuration 148). In addition, the processor 131 can transmit SRS to TRP 103 and TRP 105 respectively through one or more antenna beam pairs (such as (beam 121, beam 127), (beam 121, beam 129), (beam 123, beam 127), or (beam 123, beam 129)).
[0043] In some embodiments, processor 131 may receive an indication of a selected antenna beam pair 116 from network node 101, wherein the selected antenna beam pair 116 may be selected by network node 101 based on a measured signal strength represented by a reference signal received power (RSRP) or a signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) of an SRS (such as SRS111a, SRS111b, SRS113a, or SRS113b) transmitted by one or more antenna beam pairs (such as (beam 121, beam 127), (beam 121, beam 129), (beam 123, beam 127), or (beam 123, beam 129). Thereafter, processor 131 may simultaneously transmit data to TRP 103 and TRP 105 via a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) via the selected antenna beam pair 116.
[0044] In some embodiments, the processor 131 may determine an updated antenna beam pair 118 to replace the selected antenna beam pair 116 by the updated antenna beam pair 118 for transmitting data to the TRP 103 and the TRP 105 simultaneously via the PUSCH. In some embodiments, the processor 131 may receive a message from the network node 101 to instruct the UE 102 to determine the updated antenna beam pair 118, wherein the message is received after the expiration of the timer 168 maintained by the network node 101. In some embodiments, the processor 131 may initiate a beam pair update procedure by sending an update message 119 to the network node 101, wherein the update message 119 may include uplink control information (UCI) or a medium access control (MAC) control element (MAC-CE) message.
[0045] In some embodiments, the network node 101 may include an antenna panel 175 that generates an antenna beam 177, a transceiver 173, a memory 172, and a processor 171 communicatively coupled to the transceiver. The transceiver may be configured to enable wireless communications with two TRPs in the system 100, such as TRP 103 and TRP 105, and UE 102. The network 101 may generate multiple SRS configuration sets, such as SRS configuration set 141, SRS configuration set 151, or more. The multiple SRS configuration sets may include configurations of SRS resources for one or more antenna beam pairs, such as (beam 121, beam 127), (beam 121, beam 129), (beam 123, beam 127), or (beam 123, beam 129). The configuration of SRS resources for one or more antenna beam pairs may include a first configuration of a first SRS resource for a first beam (e.g., an SRS resource configured by SRS resource configuration 142), and a second configuration of a second SRS resource for a second beam (e.g., an SRS resource configured by SRS resource configuration 146). The SRS resources configured by SRS resource configuration 142 and the SRS resources configured by SRS resource configuration 146 may together form an SRS resource pair 162 for an antenna beam pair (such as (beam 121, beam 127)).
[0046] In some embodiments, the network node 101 may transmit a plurality of SRS configuration sets, such as SRS configuration set 141 or SRS configuration set 151, to the UE 102. In addition, the network node 101 may measure the signal strength of the SRS. In some embodiments, the network node 101 may receive an indication of the measured signal strength of an SRS (e.g., SRS111a, SRS111b, SRS113a, SRS113b) transmitted by one or more antenna beam pairs received by the TRP 103 and the TRP 105. The indication of the measured signal strength of the SRS may include a first signal strength indication for a first SRS (such as SRS111a) and a second signal strength indication for a second SRS (e.g., SRS113a), which may form the SRS signal strength of the beam pair 112. (The signal strength is in Figure 1 14. In the embodiment of the present invention, the SRS 111a of the first beam pair 114 may be indicated as "SS", for example, SRS 111a of the second beam pair 114 may be received by TRP 103 using beam 121 in a first direction determined by SRS spatial filter 147b configured by UE 102 through SRS resources configured by SRS resource configuration 142. SRS 113a may be received by TRP 105 through SRS resources configured by SRS resource configuration 146 using beam 127 in a second direction determined by SRS spatial filter 149b configured by UE 102. SRS 111a and SRS 113a may be transmitted simultaneously to TRP 103 and TRP 105, respectively. Similarly, network node 101 may receive or measure an indication of a measured signal strength of the SRS of the second beam pair 114.
[0047] In some embodiments, the SRS signal strength of beam pair 112 may include a first SRS signal strength of beam 1a and a second SRS signal strength of beam 1b. Similarly, the SRS signal strength of beam pair 114 may include a first SRS signal strength of beam 2a and a second SRS signal strength of beam 2b. The SRS signal strengths of beam 1a, beam 1b, beam 2a, and beam 2b may be measured by RSRP or SINR.
[0048] In some embodiments, the network node 101 may select the antenna beam pair 116 based on an indication of the measured signal strength of the SRS (such as the SRS signal strength of beam 1a, the SRS signal strength of beam 1b, the SRS signal strength of beam 2a, the SRS signal strength of beam 2b, and more) among a plurality of measured signal strengths of the SRS of the beam pair (such as the measured signal strength of the SRS of beam pair 112, the measured signal strength of the SRS of beam pair 114, or more). In some embodiments, to determine the selected antenna beam pair 116, the network node 101 may determine whether the first signal strength indication (e.g., the SRS signal strength of beam 1a or the SRS signal strength of beam 1b) is greater than a first predetermined threshold 164 of the measured signal strength, and determine whether the difference between the first signal strength indication and the second signal strength indication is less than a second predetermined threshold 166. In some embodiments, the first predetermined threshold 164 or the second predetermined threshold 166 of measured signal strength may be predefined as a single value or predefined as a range of values and signaled by the UE 102 and configured by the network node 101 through RRC signaling.
[0049] When there are multiple measured signal strengths of the SRS of the beam pair that meet the condition compared to the first predetermined threshold 164 or the second predetermined threshold 166 of the measured signal strength, the network node 101 can determine the selected antenna beam pair 116 from one or more antenna beam pairs based on the order of the indications of the measured signal strengths of the SRS for the one or more antenna beam pairs.
[0050] In some embodiments, when the SRS signal strength is represented by RSRP, the SRS signal strength of beam 1a can be represented by RSRP_B1, and the SRS signal strength of beam 1b can be represented by RSRP_B2. The network node 101 can sort the measured signal strength of the SRS of beam pair 112, the measured signal strength of the SRS of beam pair 114, and more pairs based on the sum of RSRP_B1 and RSRP_B2. Therefore, the pair with the largest sum is ranked first, followed by the pair with the second largest sum, and so on. In some embodiments, the sum of RSRP_B1 and RSRP_B2 can be performed in a linear or logarithmic manner. In some embodiments, the network node 101 can sort these pairs based on the minimum value of (RSRP_B1, RSRP_B2) represented as min(RSRP_B1, RSRP_B2), where the minimum value is the lowest value of RSRP_B1 or RSRP_B2. Thus, the pair with the largest min(RSRP_B1, RSRP_B2) is ranked first, followed by the pair with the second largest min(RSRP_B1, RSRP_B2), and so on. In some embodiments, the network node 101 may sort the pairs based on the maximum value of (RSRP_B1, RSRP_B2), denoted as max(RSRP_B1, RSRP_B2), where max(RSRP_B1, RSRP_B2) is the maximum value of RSRP_B1 or RSRP_B2. Thus, the pair with the largest max(RSRP_B1, RSRP_B2) is ranked first, followed by the pair with the second largest max(RSRP_B1, RSRP_B2), and so on.
[0051] In some embodiments, when the SRS signal strength is represented by SINR, the SRS signal strength of beam 1a can be represented by SINR_B1, and the SRS signal strength of beam 1b can be represented by SINR_B2. The network node 101 can sort the measured signal strength of the SRS of beam pair 112, the measured signal strength of the SRS of beam pair 114, and more pairs based on the sum of SINR_B1 and SINR_B2. Therefore, the pair with the largest sum is ranked first, followed by the pair with the second largest sum, and so on. In some embodiments, the sorting can be performed based on the sum of the effective channel capabilities (e.g., log(1+SINR_B1)+log(1+SINR_B2)). In some embodiments, the sorting can be performed based on a combination of RSRP representation and SINR representation.
[0052] In some embodiments, the network node 101 may determine an updated antenna beam pair 118 to replace the selected antenna beam pair 116 with the updated antenna beam pair 118 for simultaneously transmitting data to the TRP 103 and the TRP 105 via the PUSCH.
[0053] In some embodiments, for each reported beam pair, there is an attached timer, such as timer 168. When the timer expires, the network node 101 may consider the beam pair invalid or unavailable. The timer may be predefined in the specification with one value or a range of values. Once the timer expires, the network node 101 may initiate another group-based beam report. If the UE 102 considers the current beam pair to be still valid, the UE 102 may also initiate a message to override the timer. The message to override the timer by the UE 102 may be sent to the network node 101 via an RRC message, a MAC CE, or a UCI. In some embodiments, in a periodic or semi-periodic group based report, the most recently reported beam pair may override the previously reported beam pair. If timer 168 is used, timer 168 may be reset.
[0054] In some embodiments, the UE 102 may initiate a beam pair update by sending an update message 119 to the network node 101. The update message 119 for beam pair update may be considered as uplink control information (UCI). In some embodiments, the update message 119 may be considered as special channel state information (CSI) feedback. In terms of priority, the update message 119 may have the same priority as the existing CSI (e.g., L1-RSRP or L1-SINR). In some embodiments, the update message 119 may be considered as a new type of UCI in addition to the existing SR / HARQ-ACK / CSI / CG-UCI messages. In some embodiments, the update message 119 may be independently encoded using polarity codes, or may be jointly encoded using polarity codes with other types of UCI.
[0055] In some embodiments, the UE 102 may initiate a beam pair update by sending an update message 119 to the network node 101. The update message 119 for the beam pair update may be sent via a MAC-CE. If the UE 102 already has an UL grant for PUSCH transmission, the UE 102 may transmit the update message 119 as a MAC-CE using the existing UL grant. If the UE 102 does not have an UL grant for PUSCH, one or both of the following user cases may be considered. In some embodiments, the UE 102 may request an UL grant via a scheduling request (SR). The network node 101 may configure a specific scheduling request resource dedicated to the purpose of UE beam pair update. During UCI multiplexing and collision handling, the SR may have a different or the same priority than an existing SR. In some embodiments, the network node 101 or the UE 102 may use an existing SR. The UE 102 may request an UL grant via a RACH procedure (e.g., contention-free random access (CFRA) or contention-based random access (CBRA)).
[0056] In some embodiments, UE 102 may have the capability to support downlink group-based beam reporting or SRS-based beam selection. UE 102 may use downlink group-based beam reporting or SRS-based beam selection for STxMP-based transmission. Network node 101 may configure UE 102 to select through RRC or MAC CE messages.

The transceiver 173 and the antenna panel 175 may enable wireless communications in a wireless network (such as the wireless system 100), including wireless communications with the UE 102. In detail, the transceiver 173 may include a radio frequency (RF) circuit 236, a transmission circuit 232, and a reception circuit 234 to enable wireless communications with other UEs and / or base stations, as discussed with respect to the wireless system 100. The RF circuit 236 may include a plurality of parallel RF chains for performing one or more of the transmission or reception functions, each RF chain connected to one or more antenna elements in the antenna panel. In addition, the processor 171 may be communicatively coupled to the timer 168, the memory 172, and the transceiver 173. Various data may be stored in the memory 132. [0060] In some embodiments, the memory 172 may store instructions that, when executed by the processor 171, perform or cause the operations described herein to be performed, for example, operations that support implementation of SRS-based beam pair selection for STxMP. Alternatively, the processor 171 may be "hard-coded" to perform the operations described herein. In some embodiments, the processor 171 may be configured to perform operations for Figure 3B The operation described.
[0061] Figure 3A An exemplary process 300 for supporting SRS-based beam pair selection for STxMP performed by UE 102 according to some aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. Process 300 may be performed by UE 102, which may be as follows: Figure 2A For example, process 300 may be implemented by processor 131 in conjunction with other elements of UE 102 and / or Figure 4 The computer system 400 of the present invention is executed or caused to be executed. The process 300 is not limited to the specific aspects depicted in those figures, and other systems may be used to perform the method, as will be understood by those skilled in the art. It should be understood that not all operations may be required, and the operations may not be performed in the same order as shown in the process 300.
[0062] At 301, UE 102 may receive one or more SRS configuration sets, such as SRS configuration set 141 or SRS configuration set 151, from network node 101. The one or more SRS configuration sets may include configurations of SRS resources for one or more antenna beam pairs, such as a beam pair including (beam 121, beam 127), (beam 121, beam 129), (beam 123, beam 127), and (beam 123, beam 129), wherein the antenna beam pair includes a first beam of a first antenna panel and a second beam of a second antenna panel.
[0063] At 303, UE 102 may select a direction of an antenna beam in one or more antenna beam pairs. For example, one or more antenna beams may be directed toward Figure 1 TRP 103 and / or TRP 105 in.

For example, processor 131 may configure SRS spatial filter 147a of an SRS resource configured by SRS resource configuration 142 to become SRS spatial filter 147b to determine a first direction of beam 121, and configure SRS spatial filter 149a of an SRS resource configured by SRS resource configuration 146 to become SRS spatial filter 149b to determine a second direction of beam 127, wherein the SRS resource configured by SRS resource configuration 142 and the SRS resource configured by SRS resource configuration 146 are configured by the configuration for the SRS resource and are used for beam 121 and beam 127, respectively.
[0065] At 307, UE 102 may simultaneously transmit SRS111a to the first TRP 103 using beam 121 in a first direction using the SRS resources configured by SRS resource configuration 142, and transmit SRS113a to the first TRP 105 using beam 127 in a second direction using the SRS resources configured by SRS resource configuration 146.

[0067] At 311, the network node 101 may generate multiple SRS configuration sets, such as SRS configuration set 141, SRS configuration set 151, or more. The multiple SRS configuration sets may include one SRS configuration set, two SRS configuration sets, or more. The multiple SRS configuration sets may include configurations of SRS resources for one or more antenna beam pairs, such as a beam pair including the following items: (beam 121, beam 127), (beam 121, beam 129), (beam 123, beam 127), and (beam 123, beam 129).
[0068] At 313 , the network node 101 may transmit a plurality of SRS configuration sets to the UE 102 .
[0069] At 315, the network node 101 may receive or measure an indication of a signal strength (RSRP) and a signal quality (SINR) of an SRS transmitted by one or more antenna beam pairs received by the TRPs 103 and 105, wherein the indication of the signal strength of the SRS includes a first signal strength indication for a first SRS received by a first TRP transmitted through a first SRS resource using a first beam in a first direction determined by a first SRS spatial filter configured by the UE, and a second signal strength indication for a second SRS received by a second TRP transmitted through a second SRS resource using a second beam in a second direction determined by a second SRS spatial filter configured by the UE, wherein the first SRS and the second SRS are simultaneously transmitted to the first TRP and the second TRP, respectively. For example, the network node 101 may receive an SRS signal strength of beam 1a and an SRS signal strength of beam 1b, and at Figure 1112. The SRS signal strength of beam 1a may be received by TRP 103, which is transmitted through the SRS resource configured by SRS resource configuration 142 using beam 121 in the first direction determined by SRS spatial filter 147b configured by UE 102. The SRS signal strength of beam 1b may be received by TRP 105, which is transmitted through the SRS resource configured by SRS resource configuration 146 using beam 127 in the second direction determined by SRS spatial filter 149b configured by UE 102. As described above, a similar construction exists for beam pair SRS SS114.
