AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

The prior art requires the use of dehydrogenation catalysts when producing light olefins and aromatic olefins, and the thermal dehydrogenation reaction requires more heat input, resulting in high cost and energy consumption.

Method used

The hydrocarbon feed is processed in a fluidized bed reactor by thermal dehydrogenation method to produce hydrogen and olefins, and the oxygen carrier material is used to form water and separate the water from the hydrogen to reduce the heat input requirement. Meanwhile, oxygen carrier material is recycled in the regeneration unit and replenished fuel is burned to provide heat.

Benefits of technology

The efficient production of light and aromatic olefins without the use of dehydrogenation catalysts is achieved, reducing heat input requirements, improving energy efficiency and reducing costs.

Abstract

A process for dehydrogenating hydrocarbons can include passing a hydrocarbon feed comprising one or more alkanes or alkylaromatics into a fluidized bed reactor. In the fluidized bed reactor, at least 95 wt% of the hydrocarbon feed may have an atmospheric boiling point less than or equal to 300 DEG C. The method can include thermally cracking the hydrocarbon feed in the fluidized bed reactor to produce a dehydrogenation product and hydrogen. The fluidized bed reactor is operable at a temperature of at least 600 DEG C. The fluidized bed reactor may be free of a dehydrogenation catalyst. The method may include contacting the hydrogen with an oxygen carrier material in the fluidized bed reactor to combust the hydrogen and form an oxygen reduced oxygen carrier material. The oxygen carrier material may be reducible.
