Description

Technical Field

[0001] Various example embodiments relate to the field of communications, and more specifically to devices, methods, apparatuses, and computer-readable storage media for enhanced operations used for channel state information (CSI) configuration or beam configuration. Background Technology

[0002] Channel State Information (CSI) represents the channel attributes of the communication link between a network device and a terminal device. To obtain CSI, a network device can configure resources for Channel State Information Reference Signals (CSI-RS) and send one or more CSI-RS resources to the terminal device. The terminal device can measure relevant parameters related to CSI based on the CSI-RS resources(s) and report the measurements to the network device via a CSI report. The network device can receive the CSI reports and control the transmission parameters for transmission.

[0003] Typically, terminal devices send CSI reports periodically, semi-persistently, or aperiodically. The method for sending CSI reports is triggered by the network device based on the CSI report configuration. Therefore, the terminal device can send a CSI report to the network device whenever the network device sends a CSI-RS reference signal. Since CSI reporting is triggered by the network device, there may be potential transmission overhead for uplink CSI reporting. It is expected that the terminal device will trigger or initiate operations related to CSI reporting, beamforming, or handover, as well as other related CSI or beamforming operations to reduce transmission overhead. [0037] The term "terminal device" refers to any terminal device capable of wireless communication. By way of example and not limitation, a terminal device may also be referred to as a communication device, user equipment (UE), subscriber station (SS), portable subscriber station, mobile station (MS), or access terminal (AT). Terminal devices may include, but are not limited to, mobile phones, cellular phones, smartphones, Voice over IP (VoIP) phones, wireless local loop phones, tablets, wearable terminal devices, personal digital assistants (PDAs), portable computers, desktop computers, image capture terminal devices (such as digital cameras), gaming terminal devices, music storage and playback devices, in-vehicle wireless terminal devices, wireless endpoints, mobile stations, laptop embedded devices (LEEs), laptop devices (LMEs), USB dongles, smart devices, wireless customer premises equipment (CPEs), Internet of Things (IoT) devices, watches or other wearables, head-mounted displays (HMDs), vehicles, drones, medical devices and applications (e.g., remote surgery), industrial devices and applications (e.g., robots and / or other wireless devices operating in industrial and / or automated processing chain environments), consumer electronic devices, devices operating on commercial and / or industrial wireless networks, etc. In the following description, the terms “terminal equipment”, “communication equipment”, “terminal”, “user equipment”, and “UE” are used interchangeably.

[0038] Channel State Information Reference Signal (CSI-RS) is specifically configured for terminal equipment in Radio Resource Control (RRC). CSI-RS can be shared among many terminal equipments, meaning more than one terminal equipment can be configured to receive the same Resource Elements (REs). Typically, to conserve downlink (DL) resources, network equipment may attempt to use network equipment-specific or group-specific CSI-RS resources. The worst-case scenario for DL overhead is using terminal equipment-specific CSI-RS, where DL overhead increases linearly with the number of terminal equipment in the cell.

[0039] CSI-RS signals can serve multiple functions in new radio (NR). For example, CSI-RS signals can be used for DL CSI acquisition. Furthermore, based on the Layer 1 Reference Signal Received Power (L1-RSRP), CSI-RS signals can be used for beam management (BM). In some applications (e.g., CSI-RS for BM), CSI-RS is spatially beamshaped to different directions. Additionally, CSI-RS signals can be used for tracking, such as via Tracked Resource Sets (TRS). Moreover, CSI-RS signals can also be used for uplink CSI acquisition in reciprocity-based UL precoding.

[0040] Typically, terminal devices can be configured with up to 48 reporting configurations per component carrier (CC). CSI- ReportConfig ) or up to 4 reporting configurations per bandwidth section (BWP) CSI-ReportConfig A single CSI resource configuration within a reporting configuration can be configured with up to 16 resource sets for non-periodic CSI, and one resource set for other cases. Within each CSI resource set, there are up to 64 non-zero power (NZP) CSI-RS resources, with one NZP-CSI-RS resource used for up to 32 antenna ports.

[0041] For CSI acquisition, the terminal device is configured with a codebook type. Given a channel being measured across CSI-RS resources, the terminal device can select specific codewords from a specified codebook, namely the Precoding Matrix Indicator (PMI), along with the Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) and / or the Rank Indicator (RI). The terminal device can also be configured to measure one or more CSI-RS resources within a resource set (e.g., up to eight) and report that resource (CSI-RS Resource Indicator (CRI)) and the PMI, CQI, and RI corresponding to the selected resource.

[0042] From a time-domain perspective, CSI-RS resources can begin at any orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbol in a time slot and span 1, 2, or 4 OFDM symbols, depending on the number of ports configured.

[0043] For CSI reporting, terminal devices can report CSI measurements to network devices periodically, semi-persistently, or aperiodically (the so-called report types in NR reporting configuration). However, periodic reports from terminal devices can operate based solely on the configured periodic CSI-RS resource set, semi-persistent reports can operate based on both the configured periodic and semi-persistent CSI-RS resource sets, and aperiodic reports can operate based on all periodic, semi-persistent, and aperiodic CSI-RS resource sets. In other words, periodic CSI-RS resources can be used to generate any report type, semi-persistent and periodic CSI-RS resources can be used to generate semi-persistent CSI reports, and aperiodic CSI-RS resources can only be used to generate aperiodic reports. Based on the CSI report types and corresponding CSI-RS resource sets described above, some limitations may exist for CSI reporting.

[0044] From a frequency granularity perspective, the CSI reporting settings also define which portion of the bandwidth the CSI can correspond to, and furthermore, what granularity the CSI can have within the frequency range. To achieve this, the BWP bandwidth can be divided into multiple subbands.

[0045] In addition, apart from the NZP CSI-RS resources used for interference measurements, all CSI-RS resources in a set are configured with the same density and the same number of ports.

[0046] For semi-persistent and aperiodic CSI-RS resources, the actual triggering of CSI-RS transmissions is performed via Media Access Control-Control Unit (MAC-CE) or Downlink Control Information (DCI) per CSI-RS resource set. The resource set can be used as part of a reporting configuration that describes what is to be measured and, correspondingly, which measurement reports will be performed by the terminal device. Specifically, if the CSI-RS resource set is configured as "aperiodic" by RRC, this CSI-RS resource set configuration may include slot offsets and... aperiodicTriggeringOffset The parameter "" defines the time interval between DCI triggering and CSI-RS transmission.

[0047] For aperiodic CSI reporting, up to 16 different reporting settings can be triggered using a single DCI (e.g., for multiple component carriers); while semi-persistent CSI reporting can be triggered using only a single DCI for one reporting setting. Therefore, multiple DCIs are required to trigger multiple semi-persistent CSI reports (each in a different time slot).

[0048] For beam management, a unified Transmission Configuration Indicator (TCI) framework, which indicates the TCI states currently providing the quasi-co-location (QCL) assumption for the reception of DL signals and channels, will be used to provide spatial sources for the transmission of UL signals and channels to determine the UL transmission spatial filters. Furthermore, the unified TCI framework can also define the concept of indicated TCI states. This means that one or more TCI states among the configured TCI states (e.g., in the case of multiple Transmit and Receive Points (TRPs)) can be indicated by one or more TCI states at a time. The indicated TCI states can be (multiple) joint DL and UL TCI states, or (multiple) individual DL and individual UL TCI states. The indicated TCI states provide the QCL source (DL) and spatial source (UL) for the set of downlink signals and channels and the set of uplink signals and channels, respectively. Currently, for a terminal device, there can be one indicated joint DL and UL TCI state, or one indicated DL and one indicated ULTCI state.

[0049] Traditional technologies can provide support for both non-packet and packet-based beam reporting schemes for end devices. Network devices can be configured with up to four CRIs or beams with the L1-RSRP values to be reported, for example, via the Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH) or the Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH).

[0050] Currently, terminal device-triggered (terminal device initiated or terminal device-centric) operations related to CSI reporting and / or beam reporting or switching are of great interest because such terminal device-triggered operations can significantly reduce overall operational latency and reduce uplink (UL) reporting overhead.

[0051] Given the potential use of operations triggered by terminal devices (e.g., CSI or beam-related operations), example embodiments of this disclosure provide a solution for configuring channel state information (CSI) or beam-related operations for a terminal device in a communication system. For example, the terminal device may receive a configuration message from a network device that includes one or more sets of elements of at least one configuration parameter, and the set of elements in the one or more sets of elements is associated with an operation related to channel state information (CSI) or beam. The terminal device may receive an indication from the network device that specifies at least one set of elements in the one or more sets of elements, or specifies at least one operation associated with at least one set of elements. The terminal device may perform at least one operation associated with at least one set of elements based on the received indication.

Specifically, the exemplary embodiments of this disclosure provide enhancements to conventional configurations, such as CSI reporting configurations, to enable efficient terminal device-centric or terminal device-triggered operations and / or network device-triggered or network device-centric operations without defining a specific reporting configuration for each such operation. In addition to providing enhancements for triggering and instructing terminal device-triggered or terminal device-centric operations, the exemplary embodiments of this disclosure also provide a flexible solution for switching between terminal device-centric or terminal device-triggered operations and network device-triggered or network device-centric operations.

Furthermore, communication can utilize any suitable wireless communication technology, including but not limited to: Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA), Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA), Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA), Frequency Division Duplex (FDD), Time Division Duplex (TDD), Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO), Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM), Discrete Fourier Transform Extended OFDM (DFT-s-OFDM), and / or any other technology currently known or to be developed in the future.

[0063] Figure 2 An example signaling process 200 for performing communications in a communication system according to some embodiments of the present disclosure is illustrated. For purposes of discussion, process 200 will be referred to... Figure 1 As described. Process 200 may involve a terminal device, (e.g., such as...) Figure 1 The terminal device 110 shown is illustrated. Process 200 may also involve a network device. In some embodiments, the network device may include, for example, a terminal device 110. Figure 1 The network device 130 shown is included. It is understood that one or more operations may be added, omitted, or modified in process 200, or the operations may be performed in any suitable order without departing from the scope of this disclosure.

[0064] In process 200, network device 130 may send a configuration message (210) to terminal device 110. In some embodiments, the configuration message may include one or more sets of elements of at least one configuration parameter. Each set of elements in the one or more sets of elements is associated with an operation related to channel state information (CSI) or beamforming. In some embodiments, the operation associated with the set of elements may include a network device-triggered operation, a default operation, or a conventional operation. In some embodiments, the operation associated with the set of elements may include a terminal device-triggered operation or a terminal device-centric operation.

[0065] In some embodiments, the configuration message sent by network device 130 may include CSI report configuration. Alternatively, the configuration message may include, but is not limited to, one or more of the following: demodulation reference signal (DMRS) configuration, tracking reference signal configuration, physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) configuration, physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) configuration, or any combination thereof as listed above.

[0066] Each set of elements in the configuration message may include one or more configuration parameters for an operation, and therefore, each set of elements is associated with a corresponding operation (e.g., an operation related to CSI or beam). In some embodiments, the configuration parameters in the set of elements may include one or more of the following: configuration, parameters, conditions, or rules for an operation (e.g., an operation triggered by a terminal device and / or an operation triggered by a network device). In some embodiments, the configuration parameters in the set of elements may include one or more of the following: number of reports, codebook configuration, TCI status group or set, or beam set or group. In some embodiments, the configuration parameters in the set of elements may include one or more of the following: reference signal resources or set of reference signal resources for channel measurement. The configuration parameters in the set of elements may include one or more of the following: reference resources or set of reference resources for interference measurement. Alternatively, the configuration parameters in the set of elements may include one or more of the following: CSI-RS repetition pattern or number of CSI-RS repetitions. The configuration parameters in the set of elements may include one or more of the following: frequency configuration, or subband configuration, or number of beam pairs or reference signal pairs. In some embodiments, the configuration parameters in the set of elements may include one or more of the following: number of antenna ports or number of optimal beams. Alternatively, the configuration parameters in the element set can include any combination listed above.

[0067] The element set can be configured with various configuration parameters based on the associated operation. In some embodiments, the first operation associated with the first element set may include an operation triggered by a network device, a default operation, or a conventional operation, and / or the second operation associated with the second element set may include an operation triggered by a terminal device. In some embodiments, one or more configuration parameters may be shared between two or more element sets. For example, with operation A... op The associated element set A may include configuration parameter "parameter A1" and is related to operation B. op The associated element set B may also include a configuration parameter "parameter A1", which is shared between element set A and element set B. In some embodiments, a shared configuration parameter between two or more element sets corresponding to a given operation may mean that these element sets are associated with the same configuration parameter, and that the shared configuration parameter is configured once for the operation associated with those element sets. In other words, the value of the shared configured parameter may be the same for those operations. Using the example above, the shared configuration parameter "parameter A1" is configured for operation A. op and operation B op Both are configured once.

[0068] In some embodiments, in a configuration message, a first set of elements in a plurality of element sets may be associated with an operation triggered by a network device or with a default or traditional operation, and / or a second set of elements in a plurality of element sets may be associated with an operation triggered by a terminal device. One or more configuration parameters may be shared by the first and second element sets. In some embodiments, the shared configuration parameters are configured once for the network device-triggered operation associated with the first element set and the terminal device-triggered operation associated with the second element set.

[0069] In some alternative embodiments, in the configuration message, two or more element sets from a plurality of element sets may be associated with an operation triggered by a corresponding terminal device. One or more configuration parameters may be shared by the two or more element sets. In some embodiments, the shared configuration parameter is configured once for the operations triggered by these corresponding terminal devices associated with the two or more element sets.

[0070] Examples of configuration messages according to some embodiments of this disclosure are shown in Figure 3 and Figure 4 It is shown in the middle. Figure 3 Examples of configuration messages according to some embodiments of this disclosure are shown. Figure 3 In this configuration message, multiple element sets are included, and each element set is associated with an operation triggered by a corresponding terminal device. In other words, each element set is associated with an operation that will be triggered at the terminal device. According to some embodiments of this application, this operation is related to CSI or beamforming.

[0071] like Figure 3 As shown, CSI reporting configuration 310 can be configured with multiple element sets, such as element set #0 311-0, element set #1 311-1, ..., element set #N 311-N. N is an integer. Each element set is associated with an operation related to CSI or beamforming. For example, element set #0 311-0 is associated with operation #0 triggered by the terminal device, element set #1 311-1 is associated with operation #1 triggered by the terminal device, and element set #N 311-N is associated with operation #N triggered by the terminal device. Therefore, an example of enhanced CSI reporting configuration 320 may include multiple element sets, which are correspondingly associated with multiple operations triggered by terminal devices, such as... Figure 3 As shown in the image.

[0072] It should be understood that Figure 3 Shown for illustrative purposes only. The enhanced CSI reporting configuration 320 can be configured with a variety of numbers of element sets, each of which is associated with an operation triggered by a corresponding terminal device.

[0073] Additionally, two or more element sets may have one or more shared configuration parameters. That is, at least one configuration parameter may be shared by two or more element sets associated with an operation triggered by a corresponding terminal device. For example, suppose element set #0 includes a configuration parameter for "report quantity," and element set #1 includes a configuration parameter for "report quantity." Therefore, the configuration parameter for "report quantity" is shared for both element sets #0 and #1. In other words, element sets #0 and #1 are associated with the same configuration parameter (e.g., "report quantity"). In some embodiments, the shared configuration parameter "report quantity" may be configured once for both terminal device-triggered operation #0 and terminal device-triggered operation #1, and the setting of the configuration parameter "report quantity" is the same for both terminal device-triggered operation #0 and terminal device-triggered operation #1.

[0074] Figure 4 Another example of a configuration message according to some other embodiments of this disclosure is shown. Figure 4 In the configuration message, multiple sets of elements are included, and each set of elements is associated with a corresponding operation, which is related to CSI or beamforming. One or more sets of elements in the configuration message are associated with an operation triggered by (multiple) network devices or (multiple) default operations, while one or more sets of elements in the configuration message are associated with an operation triggered by (multiple) terminal devices. According to some embodiments of this application, the operation is related to CSI or beamforming.

[0075] like Figure 4 As shown, CSI reporting configuration 410 can be configured with multiple element sets (e.g., element set 411-0, element set #0 411-1, ..., and element set #M 411-M). M is an integer. One or more element sets are associated with operations triggered by (multiple) terminal devices regarding CSI or beams, while one or more element sets are associated with operations triggered by (multiple) network devices regarding CSI or beams, or with (multiple) default or legacy operations. For example, element set 411-0 is associated with network device-triggered operations or default or legacy operations, element set #0 411-1 is associated with terminal device-triggered operation #0, and element set #M 411-M is associated with terminal device-triggered operation #M. Therefore, an example of enhanced CSI reporting configuration 420 may include multiple element sets that are correspondingly associated with operations triggered by one or more network devices and operations triggered by one or more terminal devices, such as... Figure 4 As shown in the image.

[0076] It should be understood that Figure 4Shown for illustrative purposes only. The enhanced CSI report configuration 420 can be configured with a variety of number of element sets, each of which is associated with an operation triggered by a corresponding terminal device or network device (or a default operation or a legacy operation).

[0077] like Figure 4 As shown, the first element set 411-0 is associated with operations triggered by network devices or with default or traditional operations, while the second element set 411-i (1≤i≤M) is associated with operations triggered by terminal devices, and one or more shared configuration parameters may be shared by the first and second element sets. That is, at least one configuration parameter may be shared by the element set associated with the network device-triggered operation and the element set associated with the terminal device-triggered operation. For example, suppose the element set associated with the network device-triggered operation includes the configuration parameter "number of antenna ports," and element set #1 includes the configuration parameter "number of antenna ports." Therefore, the configuration parameter "number of antenna ports" is shared by both element set 411-0 and element set #1. In other words, element set 411-0 and element set #1 are associated with the same configuration parameter (e.g., "number of antenna ports"). In some embodiments, the common configuration parameters can be configured once for both the operation triggered by the network device associated with element set 411-0 and the operation #1 triggered by the terminal device, and the value of the configuration parameter "number of antenna ports" is the same for both the operation triggered by the network device associated with element set 411-0 and the operation #1 triggered by the terminal device.

[0078] It should be understood that although CSI reporting is configured in Figure 3 and Figure 4 The embodiments of this disclosure are shown for illustrative purposes, but are not limited to the CSI reporting configuration. Any other suitable configuration (such as demodulation reference signal (DMRS) configuration, tracking reference signal configuration, physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) configuration, or physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) configuration) may also be configured with multiple sets of elements associated with operations (operations triggered by network devices and / or operations triggered by terminal devices) that are related to the CSI or beam of the enhanced configuration used for the operation.

[0079] Return to reference Figure 2Network device 130 may send (220) an indication that specifies at least one element set in one or more element sets, or specifies at least one operation associated with the at least one element set. In some embodiments, terminal device 110 may be indicated by network device 130 to have information specifying at least one element set or specifying at least one operation (at least one of network device-triggered operation or terminal device-triggered operation). In some embodiments, network device 130 may send the indication via one or more of downlink control information (DCI), media access control-control unit (MAC-CE), physical downlink control channel (PDCCH), or radio resource control (RRC) signaling.

[0080] As described above, in some embodiments, the configuration message may include CSI reporting configuration (e.g., enhanced reporting configuration), and the indication may be represented by one or more CSI trigger states. The indication represented by the trigger state will refer to... Figure 5 and Figure 6 It is described in detail.

[0081] Figure 5 Examples of multiple trigger states for an enhanced CSI report configuration according to some embodiments of this disclosure are shown. Figure 5 refer to Figure 4 It is described that the enhanced CSI reporting configuration 520 is similar to the enhanced CSI reporting configuration 420, including a combination of operations triggered by one or more network devices and operations triggered by one or more terminal devices.

[0082] like Figure 5 As shown, for an enhanced CSI reporting configuration 520 having multiple sets of elements having at least one configuration parameter associated with a corresponding operation regarding CSI or beam, a trigger state can be used as an indication of at least one set of elements or of at least one operation (an operation triggered by a network device or an operation triggered by a terminal device). For example, as Figure 5As shown, four trigger states are illustrated. Trigger state 1 511 indicates element set #0 associated with operation #0 triggered by the terminal device and element set #1 associated with operation #1 triggered by the terminal device. In other words, trigger state 1 511 can also indicate operation #0 and operation #1 triggered by the terminal device. Trigger state 2 512 indicates element set #0 associated with operation #0 triggered by the terminal device, and in other words, trigger state 2 512 can also indicate operation #0 triggered by the terminal device. Trigger state 3 513 indicates element set #1 associated with operation #1 triggered by the terminal device, and in other words, trigger state 3 513 can also indicate operation #1 triggered by the terminal device. Trigger state 4 514 indicates element set associated with operation triggered by the network device, and in other words, trigger state 4 514 can also indicate operation triggered by the network device. Note that each trigger state can also point to a superset containing element set / operation sub-configuration, i.e., each trigger state can point to a CSI report configuration including element set / operation sub-configuration.

[0083] It should be understood that, although the triggering state is Figure 5The indication is shown to represent an indication specifying at least one element set in one or more element sets or indicating at least one operation associated with said at least one element set, but any other suitable information may also be used to represent an indication sent by a network device. For example, one or more new bits (alternatively, (multiple) fields or entries (multiple entries)), one or more existing bits (alternatively, (multiple) fields or entries (multiple entries)), or one or more reserved bits (alternatively, (multiple) fields or entries (multiple entries)) in the DCI / MAC-CE may be used to represent an indication specifying at least one element set in one or more element sets or indicating at least one operation associated with said at least one element set. Alternatively or additionally, the indication may be carried by (multiple) (dedicated or shared) CORESET or (multiple) search space sets or by (multiple) DCI formats used to send the DCI-carrying PDCCH. In some embodiments, at least one element set or at least one terminal device-triggered operation may be associated with a Transmit-Receive Point (TRP), wherein the TRP may be replaced or identified by one or more of the following: TRP ID, CORESETPoolIndex, Sound Reference Signal (SRS) resource set, Physical Cell Identifier (PCI), Reference Signal Group (such as Synchronization Signal Block (SSB), CSI-RS, Tracking Resource Set (TRS)), or Reference Signal Resource Group. The indication (such as via a CSI trigger state) may point to or indicate the TRP. Alternatively or additionally, a PDCCH transmitted on a CORESET belonging to or corresponding to a certain CORESETPoolIndex / TRP (e.g., carrying an indication, such as a CSI trigger state), or more generally, the indication or a separate indication, may indicate that at least one element set or at least one (terminal device-triggered) operation corresponding to that CORESETPoolIndex / TRP is selected (or activated). The indication (such as via a CSI trigger state) may then indicate the element set or operation that the terminal device will consider or activate in the selected at least one element set or at least one operation.

[0084] Figure 6 Examples of processing CSI trigger states according to some embodiments of this disclosure are shown. Figure 6 As shown, one or more CSI trigger states can be indicated by the DCI. Trigger states can be transmitted via the Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH). Figure 6 and Figure 5 The combination is described. Four trigger states are in... Figure 5 As shown, the four trigger states are also present. Figure 6As shown in Figure 660, network device 130 can send any trigger state (e.g., trigger state 1, trigger state 2, trigger state 3, or trigger state 4) to terminal device 110.

[0085] It should be understood that although the CSI trigger status is transmitted via the PDCCH, this disclosure is not limited thereto. Any other suitable transport resources may be used to transmit any trigger status to the terminal device 110 to indicate at least one element set in one or more element sets, or to indicate at least one operation associated with said at least one element set.

[0086] Now return to the reference Figure 2 Terminal device 110 can perform (230) at least one operation associated with at least one set of elements based on the received instruction. For example, if the received instruction indicates an element set #0 associated with an operation #0 triggered by the terminal device, then terminal device 110 can perform operation #0 accordingly.

[0087] In some embodiments, if the indication specifies an operation triggered by a terminal device, then for an operation triggered by the indicated terminal device or centered on the terminal device, after the terminal device 110 sends a request to the network device 130 and / or after the terminal device 110 receives an acknowledgment from the network device 130 (via PDCCH / MAC-CE or in the form of PDCCH / MAC-CE or in the form of an indication), at least one element from (a plurality of) corresponding element sets (i.e., at least one configuration parameter), or at least one sub-operation associated with the operation, or at least one element set from one or more element sets may become applicable or active or valid or inapplicable or inactive.

[0088] For example, after terminal device 110 receives an instruction sent by network device 130 at 220, and after detecting that the operation indicated by the instruction includes an operation triggered by the terminal device related to CSI or beamforming, terminal device 110 may send (240) a request / notification to network device 130 containing information about triggering a sub-operation at terminal device 110. In some embodiments, the sub-operation is associated with or part of the indicated operation and cannot be triggered / activated before terminal device 110 sends the request / notification information at 240. For example, step 240 may correspond to at least one event / condition occurring / being satisfied or at least one event / condition not occurring / not being satisfied. Network device 130 may respond (250) to the request / notification information with an acknowledgment message. Terminal device 110 may activate the sub-operation as acknowledged by network device 130 based on the receipt of the acknowledgment message from network device 130. This sub-operation may include, for example, CSI / beam reporting or beam refinement or stopping CSI / beam reporting or stopping beam refinement (e.g., after at least one event / condition occurs / is met).

[0089] In some embodiments, operations triggered by a terminal device or a network device are determined or indicated based at least on CSI report configuration. Operations triggered by a terminal device or a network device are determined or indicated based on (multiple) other configurations besides CSI report configuration.

[0090] In some embodiments, when a terminal-triggered operation or a terminal-centric operation is activated, the terminal device 110 may consider relevant measurements and / or (conditional) reports (if any) based at least in part on the corresponding (configuration) parameters and / or the corresponding CSI report configuration.

[0091] Additionally, although the instruction is described as specifying at least one element set in one or more element sets, or specifying at least one operation associated with said at least one element set, it is understood that the instruction indicates that the terminal device does not use the indicated terminal device-triggered or terminal device-centric operation and / or does not use the default (or conventional) or network device-triggered operation in the CSI reporting configuration. In some embodiments, the instruction may indicate the use of common configuration parameters that are not specific to / for terminal device-triggered or terminal device-centric operations in the CSI reporting configuration.
