Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a motor vehicle seat with a seating area. In the motor vehicle seat previously known from DE 196 28 381 A1, the seating area has a front section and a rear section. A left lateral longitudinal guide and a right lateral longitudinal guide are provided between these two sections. The front section is approximately T-shaped. When it is moved forward, the legs of the T move away from the rear section, creating a gap that increases in size as it is moved forward in the longitudinal direction. This gap is visually disruptive and in practical use; it is difficult to conceal, supports a cushioned part of the seating area, and does not create a noticeable hollow area. This is disadvantageous.
[0002] In the adjustable vehicle seat known from DE 698 27 303 T2, the seating area has a front seat section and a rear seat section. The front seat section is adjusted relative to the rear seat section, with the adjustment direction essentially running in the x-direction. In the motor vehicle seat known from DE 199 13 503 A1, the seating area also has a front crosspiece and a rear crosspiece, which can be positioned at different distances from each other by means of an adjustment device, allowing the seat depth to be adjusted.
[0003] The seat area with adjustable seat depth has at least one body covered with a cover fabric including leather. Regardless of the seat depth adjustment, the cover fabric should always cover the individual components of the seat area as neatly and accurately as possible. There should be no large wrinkles in the cover fabric, nor should it be subject to excessive stretching. It should be possible to use cover fabrics that are not stretchable themselves. Regardless of the seat depth setting, the seat area should always appear complete and orderly; its appearance should ideally be indistinguishable from a seat area whose depth cannot be adjusted. A design should be chosen that can be upholstered and covered with a cover fabric with reasonable effort, i.e., that can be manufactured with normal effort.
[0004] Other generic motor vehicle seats are known from the documents US 6 742 840 B2, DE 196 45 772 A1, DE 29 906 108 U1, FR 2 909 613 A3, EP 1 574 387 A1, US 2006 / 0 061 167 A1 and DE 196 29 440 A1.
[0005] The invention has the object of improving a motor vehicle seat with an adjustable seat depth and of taking precautions to ensure that a gap occurring between parts of the seat area is not noticeable, either visually or when palpating the seat surface.
[0006] This object is achieved by a motor vehicle seat having the features of claim 1.
[0007] Depending on the length of each passenger's thighs, the front half of the cushion is pushed forward more or less longitudinally. This allows the passenger to adjust the seat to their liking, ensuring that their thighs rest close to their knees, and at least do not protrude too far forward from the front edge of the seat without support. The cushion bolsters provide lateral support for the thighs.
[0008] The seating area has several upholstered sections, each covered by a cover. The upholstered sections and cover have a certain degree of elasticity, but this is far from sufficient to accommodate all the relative positions between the sections of the seating area.
[0009] Further advantages and features of the individual inventions will become apparent from the following description of non-limiting embodiments, which are explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing: In this drawing: Fig. 1: a perspective view of partial areas of a motor vehicle seat according to a first embodiment, namely parts of a base frame and mechanical parts of the seat area, the seat area is set to the largest seat length, Fig. 2: a representation like Fig. 2, but now the seating area is set to the smallest seat depth, Fig. 3: a representation like Fig. 1 according to a second embodiment, Fig. 4: a representation like Fig. 2, but now for the motor vehicle seat according to Fig. 3, Fig. 5, Fig. 6: a representation of a motor vehicle seat according to a third embodiment, Fig. 7, Fig. 8: a representation of a motor vehicle seat according to a fourth embodiment, Fig. 9-12: a representation of a motor vehicle seat according to a fifth embodiment, Fig. 13, Fig. 14: a representation of a motor vehicle seat according to a sixth embodiment, Fig. 15, Fig. 16: a representation of a motor vehicle seat according to a seventh embodiment, Fig. 17, Fig. 18: a representation of a motor vehicle seat according to an eighth embodiment.
[0010] The mechanical structure of the motor vehicle seat as shown in the first embodiment according to the Fig. 1 and Fig. 2, has a base frame of a known type. The base frame includes a front support arm 20, a left side panel 22, and a right side panel 24. The front support arm 20 is hinged at its lower end (not shown), for example, to a longitudinal guide of a known type.
[0011] The two side parts 22, 24 are connected to each other at the rear by a cross member 26, which is approximately trough-shaped.
[0012] The cushion shell is essentially formed by a front cushion half-shell 28 and a rear shell region 30. Between the two, an articulated connection 32 is provided, the joint axis of which runs in the y-direction. This articulated connection 32 has a hinge pin 34 on each side of the seat, which projects outwards. It engages in a longitudinal slot 36 provided on each side part 22, 24 and extends essentially in the x-direction, at least in the longitudinal direction of the seat. These longitudinal slots 36 on both sides of the seat run parallel to one another and form a first guide means of a lateral longitudinal guide. The second guide means is formed by the hinge pin 34. Not shown is an adjustment device of a conventional design, which is arranged between the front cushion half-shell 28 and the rear shell region 30 and allows the position of these two parts relative to one another to be adjusted in the longitudinal direction of the seat.
[0013] Finally, the seat area features a base spring system 38 in the form of individual springs running essentially in the x-direction. For this purpose, the front cushion half-shell 28 has suspension points, and corresponding suspension points are also provided in the rear shell area 30. The total length of the base spring system 38 remains constant. This ensures that the seating comfort remains unchanged when the seat depth is adjusted using the adjustment device.
[0014] First guide parts 40 project downward from the rear shell area 30; they are designed as pins. They interact with second guide parts 42, which are formed in the cross member in the form of elongated holes. These elongated holes have approximately the same direction as the longitudinal slots 36. The first guide parts 40 and the second guide parts 42 form rear longitudinal guides. A cover material 74 is stretched between the front cushion half-shell 28 and the rear shell area 30, beneath which, if necessary, upholstery bodies 70 are located at a suitable location. Both are not shown here. Since the distance between the front cushion half-shell 28 and the rear shell area 30 always remains constant regardless of the seat depth adjustment, the overall length of the cover material 74 does not change, thus the cover material 74 remains arranged and taut in the same way, regardless of the seat depth adjustment. There is no crumb fold, as occurs in the prior art mentioned above. Preferably, the rear shell area 30 remains below a backrest (not shown here), so that its rear edge is not visible even when the seat depth is adjusted to its maximum. A backrest can be designed so wide in its lower area that it covers the entire adjustment range of the seat depth adjustment.
[0015] Using the adjustment devices known per se, the inclination of the front cushion half-shell 28 can be adjusted around the hinge connection 32. This changes the height of a front seat edge.
[0016] In the second embodiment according to the Fig. 3 and Fig. 4, no rear shell area 30 is provided. The requirement to achieve a substantially constant length of the base spring system 38 and simultaneously keep the length of a cover fabric 74 constant in the x-direction, regardless of seat depth adjustment, is now solved in a different way. The base frame again has two side parts 22, 24, as also shown in the first exemplary embodiment. Via the left and right lateral longitudinal guides, only the cushion half-shell 28 is now articulated to the respective side part 22, 24 on the one hand and adjustable in the x-direction (essentially in the x-direction) on the other. The two side parts 22, 24 are connected to one another by a tubular cross member 44. Rear support arms (not shown), for example, can also be arranged on this. A rear cross member 46 is located above this tubular cross member 44.Like the tubular cross member 44, it extends in the y-direction and is articulated via links 48 of the tubular cross member 44 arranged at its ends and running transversely to its longitudinal direction. The pivot position is determined by a control device which, in the illustrated embodiment, has a control rod 50. It is articulated on the one hand to a hinge pin, here the right hinge pin 34, and on the other hand to the right link 48 or the rear cross member 46. Depending on the position of the front cushion half-shell 28, it moves the rear cross member 46 into a different position. The possible positions are located in a V-shaped angular space above the tubular cross member 44. Retaining means for the springs of a base spring system 38 are provided on the rear cross member 46. As in the first embodiment, corresponding retaining means are formed on the front cushion half-shell 28.The total length of the base spring 38 remains essentially constant regardless of the seat depth adjustment. The kinematics of the control device are designed accordingly. The length of a cover fabric 74, which is arranged between a front edge of the front cushion half-shell 28 and the rear crosspiece 46, also remains essentially constant regardless of the seat depth adjustment. This prevents crumb creases and the like.
[0017] In the third embodiment according to the Fig. 5 and Fig. 6, the seating area has a rear seat cushion 56 and a front seat cushion 58. The rear seat cushion 56 has a front edge 60. It is essentially wedge-shaped in its front area, at least wedge-shaped in side view. Starting from the front edge 60 toward the rear, the rear seat cushion 56 expands essentially wedge-shaped in the (essentially) negative x-direction. This area extends over 30 to 70% of the total length of this rear seat cushion 56. The underside of the wedge-shaped area is designed as a lower curved surface 62. It has a relatively large radius. It is concave.
[0018] The front seat cushion 58 has a corresponding upper curved surface 64 on its upper side in its rear region. This upper curved surface 64 is adapted to and rests against the lower curved surface 62. An adjustment device (not shown) is provided, which is arranged between the two seat cushions 56, 58 and adjusts the position of these two seat cushions 56, 58 relative to each other, essentially in the x-direction, as indicated by the double arrow. During an adjustment process of the adjustment device, the upper curved surface 64 moves relative to the lower curved surface 62.
[0019] The curved surfaces 62, 64 only need to be realized to the extent that they are actually visible and this is necessary for the function. The lower curved surface 62, for example, does not have to be solid or covered with a cover. It can be formed by two narrow webs running essentially in the x-direction, against which the upper curved surface 64 rests. The upper curved surface 64 also only needs to be provided with a cover to the extent that it is actually visible and only needs to be curved to the extent that it is. Sliding or rolling bodies are preferably arranged between the two seat cushions 56, 58. The radius of the curved surfaces 62, 64 is relatively large. It is in the range of 50 cm to 4 m. A curved longitudinal guide is preferably provided between the two seat cushions 56, 58.
[0020] As in particular Fig. As shown in Figure 6, the rear seat cushion 56 also forms the cushion sides 52 and accordingly protrudes further in the front region of the cushion sides than in the region of its front edge 60. The front seat cushion 58 forms the space between the cushion sides 52. In another embodiment, however, the front seat cushion 58 can also be made wider so that it extends into the cushion sides and also forms the front region of the cushion sides 52. In this case, the front edge 60 extends not only over the cushion edge 53, but also through the cushion sides 52.
[0021] As is particularly evident from Fig. As can be seen in Figure 6, the front edge 60 is not straight. In the illustrated embodiment, it is curved. This provides greater dimensional stability. It is defined by a band-shaped curved piece 66, which is made, for example, of plastic or metal. It has a very small dimension in the z-direction, for example, 1 to 3 mm, but a significantly larger dimension in the x-direction, for example, 10 to 30 mm. This makes it relatively flexible in the z-direction, but extremely rigid in the x-direction.
[0022] In the fourth embodiment according to the Fig. 7 and Fig. 8, as in the second embodiment, no rear shell region 30 is provided. The requirement to achieve a substantially constant length of the base spring 38 in the x-direction and thus simultaneously to keep the length of a cover fabric 74 constant in this direction, namely regardless of an adjustment of the seat depth, is now solved in yet another way. The base frame has two side parts 22, 24, as also used in the first embodiment. Via the left lateral and right lateral longitudinal guides, the front cushion half-shell 28 is now hingedly connected to the respective side part 22, 24 on the one hand and adjustable in the x-direction (essentially, exactly in the seat longitudinal direction) on the other. The two side parts 22, 24 are connected to one another at the rear by a rear cross member or cross member 26, which is essentially tub-shaped. They can also be arranged, as in the alternative according to the Fig. 3 and Fig. 4 by a rear tubular cross member 44. Attachment points for the springs of a base spring system 38 are provided on the cross member 26, in the variant on the tubular cross member 44. In addition, a front cross member 54 is provided, which also connects the two side members 22, 24. Fastening means for hooking the individual springs of the base spring system 38 are provided on it. In the position of greatest seat depth, as Fig. As shown in Figure 7, the front cross member 54 is located in the immediate vicinity of the front cushion half-shell 28. There is only a small gap between the two parts. In the position of the shortest seat depth, i.e. Fig. 8, the front cross member 54 is located below the front cushion shell 28. The distance between the cross member 26 and the front cross member 54 is constant. It is independent of the seat depth adjustment. Accordingly, the length of the base spring system 38 also remains constant. The distance between the cross member 26 and a front edge of the cushion half-shell 28 is not constant when the seat depth is adjusted. The upper edge of the cross member 26 is designed as a sliding edge. Cover material 74 is kept in stock at the rear of the cross member 26, which is pulled forward when the seat depth is increased and thus supplies sufficient cover material 74 for the now larger seat surface. Behind the cross member 26, as much cover material 74 is kept in stock as is required for the seat depth adjustment. Typically, 60 to 100 mm is required for the seat depth adjustment; a corresponding supply is available. This supply is tensioned by elastic means 92, for example springs or rubber.
[0023] In the fourth embodiment, a component of a seat tilt adjustment system, such as a corresponding cross member, can be used as the front cross member 54. A separate cross member 54 is then unnecessary. As in the first and second embodiments, the front cushion half-shell 28 also forms the cushion sides 52. For this purpose, it has correspondingly shaped side regions that overlap the side parts 22, 24. In a motor vehicle seat, the cushion sides 52 move forward and backward with the seat depth adjustment.
[0024] In the fifth embodiment according to the Fig. 9-12, the seating area has a rear seat cushion 56 and a front seat cushion 58. Both seat cushions 56, 58 are assigned an adjustment device (not shown here), which essentially adjusts the position of these two seat cushions 56, 58 in the x-direction. Such adjustment devices are state of the art. The two seat cushions 56, 58 are not in contact with each other; rather, an intermediate piece 68 with a variable length in the x-direction is located between them in the x-direction. This intermediate piece 68 elastically absorbs the change in length that occurs between the frontmost and rearmost positions of the seat cushion adjustment.
[0025] The intermediate piece 68 has a cushion body 70. In the design according to the Fig. 9 to 12, it is made of foam and has openings or channels running in the z-direction. Because of these, it is much easier to compress in the x-direction than in the z-direction. The openings are essentially diamond-shaped. The cushion body 70 is covered by a cover material 74, which covers, among other things, its upper side. The intermediate piece 68 also has a support structure 76, which in the exemplary embodiment is shown as a flat part made of, for example, sheet metal or plastic, which extends essentially in the y-direction. In the exemplary embodiment shown, this support structure 76 is fastened at the front to the underside of the front seat cushion 58. The fastening is indicated by two lines. In the rear area, the support structure 76 is located below the rear seat cushion 56, but is not connected to it; rather, a relative movement is carried out there when the seat depth is adjusted. In the front area, the cover fabric 74 is folded down into the front side surface of the upholstery body 70. It is secured there. It is attached to the rear side surface of the front seat cushion 58 and is again indicated by two lines. The upholstery body 70 is not connected to the support structure 76. Likewise, the cover fabric 74 is not connected to the support structure 76. In the rear area, the cover fabric 74 is guided around the rear surface of the upholstery body 70 and extends downward over this rear surface (in the negative x-direction) to below the rear seat cushion 56, where it is connected to the rear seat cushion 56. The connection is represented by a line.
[0026] The design is such that the total length of the cover fabric 74, from a front upper edge across the rear upper edge and up to the attachment point, is independent of seat depth adjustment. The more the upholstery body 70 is compressed, the further it moves away from the attachment point. A comparison of the Fig. 10 and Fig. Figure 12 confirms this. A kinematic reversal is also possible.
[0027] In a preferred embodiment, the seat cushion 56, 58 to which the cover fabric 74 is connected at the attachment point has a bulge in the area of the rear upper edge. This bulge causes the cover fabric 74 to be directed downward when the adjustment device is actuated to shorten the seat depth.
[0028] Various designs are possible for the cushion body 70, for example, a honeycomb structure. The support structure 76 is connected to the adjustment device.
[0029] From the Fig. 13 and Fig. 14 shows a sixth embodiment, which is an alternative to the fifth embodiment. Here, the cushion body 70 is designed as an airbag that expands substantially in the x-direction when inflated. Common to the fifth and sixth embodiments is that the cushion sides 52 are formed by the rear seat cushion 56. In the fourth embodiment, the front seat cushion 58 and the cushion body 70 of the intermediate piece 68 are located between the cushion sides 52. In the fifth embodiment, the front seat cushion 58 is wider, extending below the cushion sides 52. The airbag is also wider than its equivalent in the fourth embodiment.
[0030] In the seventh embodiment according to the Fig. 15 and Fig. 16, the adjustment of the length in the x-direction of a cover 86, which extends over the entire length of the seating area, is achieved by folds 88. For this purpose, a substructure is selected, for example, as in the fourth exemplary embodiment. A plurality of recesses 90 extending in the y-direction are incorporated into a cushion body 70 of the front seat cushion 58. An elastic means 92, for example a rubber band, is attached to the cover 86 at the location of this recess 90. This elastic means attempts to pull the cover 86 into the recess 90. Fig. 16 shows the state where the recesses 90 are completely filled. Fig. 15 shows the state where the cover 86 is practically stretched and the elastic means 92 are maximally stretched.
[0031] Several recesses 90 are also arranged in the area of the rear seat cushion 56. Three recesses 90 are also shown here. The number of recesses 90 is arbitrary. Each recess 90 can accommodate at least 8 mm up to 30 mm of cover 86 in the x-direction, although larger adjustments are also possible. Again, a cushion body 70 is arranged between the two seat cushions 56, 58. This cushion body is designed in the same way as in the fourth embodiment and now does not have its own cover material 74 as in the fourth embodiment.
[0032] The recesses 90 are preferably provided in the at least one cushion body 70, which is not as radially compressible as the intermediate piece 68. No recesses 90 are formed in the intermediate piece 68.
[0033] In the eighth embodiment according to the Fig. 17 and Fig. 18, the seating area has a rear seat cushion 56 and a front seat cushion 58. An adjustment device for seat depth adjustment is assigned to the front seat cushion. In the specific exemplary embodiment, it is equipped with a spindle 96 and a spindle nut device 98. The latter is stationary. This adjustment device adjusts both the position of a front edge of the front seat cushion 58 relative to the rear seat cushion 56, as well as the actual length of the front seat cushion 58 in the x-direction. The front seat cushion 58 is covered with a cover material 74. In its front region, and in particular in its front, lower end region (which faces rearward), it is connected to a support structure 76 (not shown) of the front seat cushion 58, to which the spindle 96 and the parts associated with it are also connected. This also includes a guide rail 100 of a rail arrangement, which includes a stationary rail 102.They work together to form a longitudinal guide that is essentially adjustable in the x-direction by the adjustment device. They run parallel to spindle 96.
[0034] The rear end of the cover material 74 is attached to the free end of a driver 104. There, the cover material 74 forms a rear, U-shaped loop, which is lined with a correspondingly soft upholstery material (not shown). The shape of this loop changes when the seat depth is adjusted using the adjustment device. The change in shape can be determined by comparing the Fig. 17 and Fig. 18. The driver 104 is held on the guide rail 100 and rests on a cross support 106, which is, for example, a cross member of an adjustment device for the height of the front edge of the seat. The driver 104 is elastically designed; due to its elasticity, it is constantly pressed downwards against the cross support 106. Its free end therefore describes between the two extreme positions of the seat depth adjustment, as shown by the Fig. 17 and Fig. 18, a curved path. In doing so, it takes the rear end of the cover material 74 with it and thus deforms the cushion body 70 (not shown) located underneath accordingly. Overall, the length of the front seat cushion 58 is significantly changed. The front portion of the front seat cushion 58 remains essentially unchanged. Only the rear portion changes, which makes up about half of the total length of the front seat cushion 58. When adjusting from Fig. 17, the cover fabric 74 is pressed downward in the negative z-direction. Where it comes into contact with the cover fabric 74 of the rear seat cushion 56, it slides downward.
